Farizon have just launched their second model: the V7E. A commercial van that competes with the electric versions of the Ford Transit and the Stellantis vans. It is built for a low cost of ownership, but it's not built cheap.
In this Real Short Car Rreview I tell you all you need to know about this newcomer and take it for a test drive.

00:00Hey everybody welcome back to the channel and welcome to a new video, welcome to a
00:05real short car review. The car behind me is the new Verizon V7e and today I'm at
00:11a launch event, launch location of this new electric commercial van. So let's get
00:17started. So here it is, Verizon is part of the Geely Group, the Geely Corporation that
00:23we know from Volvo, Polestar, Lincoln Co, brands like that and Verizon is the
00:29brand for commercial vans. They already have the SV on sale which is a larger
00:34model than the new V7e which is their smaller van. It's intended, designed for
00:41cost of ownership but it's not built cheap. It's a very well thought out
00:47vehicle. So let me start with the most important things. What you see is what
00:52you get. There's only one body style available so there are no various
00:56wheelbases nor are there any variations in length and roof height. This is what
01:02you get. The only options are there are two sizes of battery packs, namely a 50 and a
01:0867 kilowatt hour battery. You can choose body colors. White is the standard color and
01:14blue and green, both are metallic colors, are optional. And there are several option
01:20packages. This one has the option package with a second sliding door behind the
01:25driver's seat on the left hand side. And there is an option package with ads, heated
01:32windscreen, heated seats, heated steering wheel and such. And there is an option
01:35package that includes a tow hook. Two opening doors and they open to a 270 degree
01:42angle. Haven't tried it but you can see those little pucks on the side here. That
01:47holds the door once they are fully open. So they open and they always open to this. Now
01:55the puck holds it to this 270 degree angle. Real wide door opening. Let's open the
02:02second door. You see you have these little holders to hold the door open to the 90
02:08degree angle. So you may expect the battery is under the car floor. It's a structural part
02:16of the car body. So the battery pack has a structural housing and that provides a couple
02:23of real nice benefits. One is the structural integrity of the body. And the second is that
02:29you have a real low center of gravity. And that's pretty common for EVs. Now the
02:35height from the road to the cargo floor is 51 centimeters. So let's get in and point the
02:45camera at myself for once. This cargo space has a capacity of seven cubic meters. The
02:52length of the cargo floor from the back to here is almost three meters. It's two
02:59point nine meters from the top of my head. And the load capacity is 1380 kilos. So let's
03:07get out. It's very easy to get in and out. It's real nice that you have this low step
03:11of 51 centimeters. The standard version comes with a sliding door on the right hand
03:19side. And this car has the optional sliding door on the opposite side. Real large door
03:27opening. One meter and 10 centimeters. That's really nice to get larger stuff in
03:33and out. And as you can see it slides open when the rear doors are also open. Again
03:39very easy ingress and egress. And let's open the second optional sliding door. Look at
03:48this. This is just great. And this van is especially intended for city traffic, city
03:55deliveries. So when you can't park with one side only towards the sidewalk you have
04:00always a large sliding door on that side. Let's do a quick walk around. So what is
04:07this van and what isn't it? Well it's purely intended as a pure electric workhorse.
04:13Verizon have tested this car with a lifespan of 400,000 kilometers in mind. And you can
04:19expect this van to reach that mileage or kilometers without any major issues. They
04:24were really focused on cost of ownership. So reliability was a key development point.
04:30Now looking at the van. Yeah it's not the widest van. But it's really meant for maneuverability
04:37in the city. As you can see the wheels are at the utmost corners in the front. Improving
04:43maneuverability. So there's not a large overhang that you might smack into poles. Have to add
04:49to that the car standard comes with a 360 degree panoramic view monitor. Which is great. And also
04:57parking sensors front and back are standard on this car. Now being an EV battery size is important.
05:05As said 50 and 67 kilowatt hour battery packs. The battery comes with eight year warranty. The overall
05:13warranty for the van is five years. And for both the battery and the rest of the vehicle there is
05:19a maximum
05:20of 200,000 kilometers for the warranty period. Now as you can see the sides are very straight, very flat.
05:29It's
05:29really designed with the intention of having a function over farm. So real flat panels. But that leaves a nice
05:38area for well advertisement and commercial outings on the car. As you can see this version has plastic wheel
05:46covers. The standard version comes with steel wheels only. But the importer has an action where the pro plus
05:53packets which includes the heated seats, heated steering wheel, heated windscreen which is super nice
05:59without any additional cost until the end of June. So grab one while you can. Now of course being an
06:05EV
06:06you may wonder well what's the range of this vehicle. Well Verizon has two ways of measuring it.
06:11One is in-city driving because this van is intended as a city delivery van. And there's a second way
06:18of
06:18measuring which is the WLTP cycle which is more realistic for delivery work. And when you do some
06:25highway or back road driving. Starting with the larger battery pack the 67 kilowatt hour battery. In city driving
06:34you can expect a range of 475 kilometers. And in the WLTP cycle that is 338 kilometers. For the smaller
06:44battery pack the largest range city range is 328 kilometers. In the WLTP cycle that's 240 kilometers.
06:53But then again if you start loading it up that will decrease range dramatically. But fans like this are
06:58mostly used for transporting volume not necessarily weight. Now let's look at the interior because the
07:05driver's cab is actually really nice. So this van has keyless entry. I currently have the key in my pocket.
07:11When I approach the vehicle it unlocks and it starts up. So there is some of my camera equipment.
07:18Let me show you around first. So it's a real, I think it's a real nice cab. There was a
07:25beep because it says
07:26it started up now. Nice fabric seats and in this case they are heated and they are made of recycled
07:33plastics. So there is recycled plastic fiber material in here. I think the dashboard design overall is
07:40really nice. There are a lot of cubbies and pockets for smaller stuff. You can get drinking bottles in the
07:47door pockets over there. There is a little pocket in this armrest and it has yeah little cutouts to clamp
07:54in stuff in here. And this by the way is the door handle. So you can get your hand off
07:59the steering wheel
08:00and grab the handle and simply open the door. Anyway there is the sensor and camera cluster for the
08:06advanced driver aid systems. That little pocket over here is currently unpopulated but there can be a
08:13techograph installed in there. But for those of you outside Europe that's not important to know. But I think
08:19that dashboard design is a little bit reminiscent of Kia's. It's real nice materials or at least real nice
08:25color choice. As you may expect the materials are hard but very easy to clean. And I think the same
08:31can be said
08:32for the seats. If you get stains on them this is really durable material that's very easy to clean.
08:38So let's get inside. Here are a couple of buttons for drive modes. The gear selector. The gear selector is
08:48this
08:48little lever over here. And we have a normal light switch button on here. And this is to operate the
08:56wipers.
08:57A little bit different than I'm used to. It looks a bit like the Mercedes method. But anyway you'll get
09:03used to
09:03it. Especially if you drive this thing on a daily basis. Infotainment is here. Nice thing is if you
09:09swipe it down. You have access to all the drive rate system that you want to switch off. So you
09:15want to
09:15switch the lane keep assist off. Confirm that. And also the speed. The over speed warning. Which is a
09:22nuisance in every new car. Having a quick look in this interior. So it's a two and a half passenger
09:32seat
09:32setup. If need be you can sit here with three passengers. But I think this is a real nice well
09:38thought out driver space.
09:44But it's time that we have to drive over this bumpy bit of grass over here. You can tell that
09:50the
09:50suspension is firm. It's really intended for transporting loads. So it's really intended to
09:56have some load on the rear axle. But nevertheless it's confidence inspiring. I've driven fans in the
10:04past. And when they were empty they were really bumpy. Quite a handful to drive. And it's not the case
10:10with this P7E. So it already feels good. Steering wheel is nicely weighted. Adjustability of the steering wheel.
10:20Telescoping is quite large. Let's not do that while driving.
10:24I must say the overall visibility of the body work is nice. It's good. Nice large windscreen.
10:31And it has really short front overhang. So you can drive up real close to objects if need be in
10:39tight spaces. One thing that's really important in electric vehicles in my opinion is a very predictable
10:45acceleration. You can have this band. Any other electric vehicle fly away as soon as you touch the
10:52accelerator. But this really has a nice transition from a standstill into moving. Okay white fan
10:59mans always seem to be in a hurry. But this is very controlled if you want it to be. One
11:05thing that I miss
11:06is the height adjustability of the driver's seat. I would preferably sit a little bit higher but
11:13I think we can get away with it. The seats, the cushion and cushions are very firm. And of course
11:19you don't have
11:19much ball string on the side because you do get in and out so many times during a day. Hundreds
11:26of times
11:27during a day. So you don't want to have ball string on the left hand side near the door. But
11:32it... Seating comfort
11:34feels good. Nice large seat and nice large seat back too I must say. It comes standard with climate control
11:43with AC of course. And it's really nice to see a heated windscreen as an option in this car. And
11:52the price
11:52for this option I don't know from the top of my mind. But it isn't much. They are very affordable.
11:57Now of course
11:58prices may differ per country. So I'll put the Dutch prices in screen. Otherwise we'll get such a plethora of
12:04numbers. The maneuverability of this van is said to be excellent. And truth be told I can concur. This
12:15really is nice and good oversight during turning and backing up in these small driveways that you have
12:21here. If you're doing deliveries around here. It's not bad at all. No it's not all praise and glory. I
12:29do
12:29notice that there are some road noises. Especially when the cargo area is completely empty. There's a little
12:37tire noise. A little road noise. I looked at the tires. I'm going to show you close up in a
12:42second. But
12:43they are not European name brand tires. I think if you put Michelin tires under here it will be much
12:49quieter
12:49in this driver cabin. But this is true for all fans by the way. And also notice I have to
12:58slow down for
12:59oncoming traffic. And it's a one lane road. The regen braking is actually really nice. But I don't see
13:05any settings for regen braking. At least not with pedals on the steering wheel. So I just hopped in when
13:11driving. But the way things are set up. Especially regen braking feels very natural. The brake pedal feel is
13:19also very predictable. And the same can be said for the steering wheel. The power assist is nicely
13:27weighted. And the speed of the steering wheel is also nice. Great for maneuvering in cities and on
13:32smaller roads. But this fan will not feel nervous or twitchy when you do highway driving. Anyway let's
13:41round up this driving segment and go to my final thoughts. See you in a second.
13:49So final thoughts. And they are coming from the editing room this time. The camera didn't make it to
13:55the end of the video. And I also noticed the abysmal audio and video quality. So my apologies for that.
14:00I tried to straighten things out here. Anyway. Verizon Fatterson. How to pronounce the brand name?
14:07I asked and they say potato potato to each his own. The V70 is a pretty interesting newcomer. What stands
14:14out most to me is the maneuverability of the car. Of the van. It has a real tight turning radius.
14:21And it's
14:21very easy to live it. Especially since it is a narrow car. It may look somewhat odd. But it is
14:26really practical. And within that small exterior volume. You get a lot of cargo space. It's really
14:33practical. And I would suggest you always get the version with a second sliding door. The price that
14:39you pay for it is in the second trim levels. Or a second package that you can get. But it's
14:45really
14:46worth the money. And then again it still is a very good offer for its price point. For around 30
14:53000
14:54euro you get the largest cargo capacity and load capacity in its class. I didn't discuss charging
15:02times. So I want to straighten that out right now. For the smaller battery pack fast charging with 100
15:08kilowatt is done in 18 minutes from 10 to 18 percent. And on the regular 11 kilowatt ac charger it
15:16takes
15:16five hours to fully load the battery. And for a larger battery pack fast charging 30 minutes regular
15:21charging six and a half hours. And since these fans have a real good range. So the energy consumption
15:27is pretty good. And they mentioned the energy consumption. On average the energy consumption is
15:3322 kilowatt hours per hundred kilometers. And that is with a loaded fan. So all in all very practical.
15:39A very good offering for its price point. And the V7E is just a real honest workhorse.
15:45They have a good large corporation behind. The Geely Corporation also owns Volvo. And they have a lot of
15:52knowledge about European factory manufacturing. And that's when you look up close to the fan. The
15:58details. How it's constructed. How it's put together. It's a really well put together fan. And I said they
16:04mentioned that these fans are built for a lifespan of at least 400 000 kilometers. I think yeah it's a
16:13pretty
16:14competitive offering. So that's all I have to say about that. Thank you so much for watching. And I hope
16:20to see you on the next one. Bye.
