00:03This is the Verizon Supervan, or Verizon SV, and I've been wanting to test drive this because
00:09it's designed as an electric van from the ground up, which means it doesn't have those awkward
00:15leftover constraints of the diesel platform that's had a battery put in it. We're finally
00:19past the point of asking, does an electric van have enough range? And for many installers and
00:24tradespeople, that is half the battle. The numbers on the Verizon SV are competitive,
00:29but what makes it a genuinely interesting van is that a lot of thought has gone into how it's used
00:35day to day. So let's start with the basics. I drove the smallest version, the L1 H1. With that,
00:41you get the option of two different battery sizes, 67kWh or 83kWh. The smaller battery gets you about
00:48188 miles, while the larger one gets you 234 miles. When it comes to charging, it'll go from 20%
00:55to
00:5580% in about 36 minutes on a rapid charger. Put that in context, that's 110 miles in just over
01:02half an hour. So you can do it while you eat your lunch. Depending on the model you get, the
01:06payload
01:06is between 1,265 and 1,350 kilos, and it will tow up to two tons. But here's what I
01:14really love.
01:15Look at this side access. On the passenger side, there is no B pillar, and it might seem like a
01:20minor
01:20detail until you look at what it means. So it gives you this wide opening for the side door.
01:26So if you're working in tight spaces and need every single millimeter to load Awkward Kit,
01:31this is a lifesaver. On the L1 model, this is a one meter opening, but the biggest L3 version goes
01:37up
01:37to 1.8 meters because of this. You can also spec 270 degree opening rear doors instead of the standard
01:44180.
01:45This makes life much easier when you're parked in a tight space. And perhaps this is something we're
01:50not talking about enough. A van can have all the range in the world, but if it's a nightmare to
01:54load,
01:55you're never going to get on with it. It's an easy drive, and you get that instant electric torque,
01:59which is great for pulling away with a load in the back. The ride is a bit rough when it's
02:03completely
02:03empty. I was driving in slow traffic and felt every bump. The interior, however, is surprisingly
02:09minimalist, much more like an electric first passenger car. Crucially, however, they haven't
02:15gone entirely touch screen mad, and you still get physical buttons for the heating and air conditioning.
02:20There is a small learning curve with the software, and it throws up some slightly odd, confusing
02:24messages when you try to do something it doesn't like. But it's charming in a slightly weird way,
02:29and hopefully an over the air update will sort it at a later date. What makes up for it, however,
02:33is the driver assistance tech. You get things that you usually have to pay extra for as standard.
02:39Things like rear cross traffic alert, a 360 degree camera, intelligent cruise control.
02:44Great features that make this easy to maneuver in the city and on job sites.
02:48You can fit three passengers up front, though if you try to use the middle cup holder with a full
02:53crew,
02:54it will hit your passenger's knee. I did have quite a big issue with the driving position.
02:58The steering wheel in this model has no reach adjustment, so to reach the wheel I have to sit
03:02further forward than I actually wanted to. For a short journey it was fine, but for a longer
03:06journey it would have been very uncomfortable. However, there is a refreshed 2026 model that's
03:11coming out that has four-way steering adjustment and electronic lumbar support. So if you like a lot
03:17of adjustment, that's the one for you. Overall, the Verizon SV is a good choice of electric van for
03:22anyone working in the trades. It's practical, the access is brilliant, and the visibility is great.
03:28Going beyond range and looking at things like payload towing and those access requirements make
03:34it a great choice for anyone in the trades. If you're looking to move away from a van that's built
03:39on a traditional diesel platform, this could be worth a test drive.
