05:09They made on the clutch from the start, but as far as the fight goes there was some suspension changes

05:15It was a little bit soft in that first moto and he did get arm pump during that so they're
05:19just obviously trying to avoid that avoid that sort of
05:22Fighting the bike and sitting back on it. They're just trying to give them a little bit more comfort
05:27You know give them that ability to be able to kind of push through and late into the moto
05:31Now that actually makes sense and it's expected when you think about a router who hasn't raced all year coming
05:36soft as he almost loops out right there
05:38He hasn't been pushing his pace at all at home
05:41So it's not surprising he would come to a race pick up the pace and his bike be too soft

05:47Um, this second moto, but then you got the the rotting partners coming off injury
05:54Um, rj and then the cowboy aaron plessinger and they're still right behind jorge, so
06:01Yeah, they're hanging in there actually plessinger had the good start and as he's dealing with his buddy
06:07Hemshire they've got the 26 in sight and here's rj doing what rj does just fighting it with everything he's

06:13If anybody knows what rj does, you know, he's always going to be there
06:17But then you got this battle of chase sexton and jet lawrence coming up on these guys, so
06:23I don't know about you jason, but I just since chase looks a little bit better this moto, but also
06:28jet
06:29As well, they're close to second place right there
06:32You know one of the big questions I had this morning just running through my mind thinking about this is

06:37Plessinger
06:38Hampshire tight spin it. Oh, no, and down goes sexton
06:42Yeah, tough break right there. I mean they put some water down
06:46But what is it's a small crash, but for chase?
06:49I just know for him after that first moto top three
06:52It's a big crash just instantly for him. He just seems like he can't get a ball get the ball

06:59Hopefully gets back up and keeps charging for it

07:08And actually that would move jet lawrence to third overall, but it's very early right now

07:28But that's what I'm saying with this field being so deep we talk about all the riders that have won
07:34titles in the 250 or 450 class outdoors
07:37and Plessinger does have one, but I was wondering
07:40Where would the likes of these two fit right in and honestly pretty darn well right now?

07:48I would be more concerned about aaron how healthy he is and just with the thing with rj
07:53You know, you're gonna get a hundred percent no matter what it is
07:55So if he's in 10, he's in 10, he's leading he's gonna ride the same so for him
08:00He would be where he's at air would be more the the wild card there, but great to see him

08:04especially coming off the injury and
08:07They're gonna have their hands full with the 38. I think these all these guys are ended up closing up

09:51I think he just looks a little tentative and that could be lack of riding that could be protecting his

10:28He's starting to look to where he can ride this pace and obviously he's fast enough to close in on
10:33these guys
10:33So I think the rust is coming from now
10:35They're selling he's lacking speed but lacking that the jet launch i can do this in my sleep kind of

10:43You know action that he's he's gonna have to grow it and keep working on but he looks good to
10:48me
10:50So they look good there as he closes in on plessinger nice return running third for ap
10:56You had a hip injury in supercross just a rough supercross campaign for ap all together
11:03I talked to him yesterday said yeah, I got a few motos under my belt
11:07I don't think he's coming here in a full 100 percent thickness
11:10But he's riding well at least at the moment
11:13That's the good news the bad news is there's still 19 minutes of two laps to go
11:17Yeah, and you know ap's like i've seen this scene before you know jet lawrence that's
11:23Yeah, let's it go. Sometimes it's a rider especially in ap position
11:26He doesn't want to hold him back and he kind of knows he's not a hundred percent this guy's going
11:30so makes that pass a little easier
11:33Then maybe some other times but
11:35Just moving towards the front and the next person is jorge prada about five seconds in front of him
11:41I don't know if he has anything for his older brother under lawrence looks great, but still great route by

11:47Yeah, last time around prado's laptop was actually a little quicker than jet lawrence
11:52We'll see if it changes out that he's not in a battle and here's jet talking about just being happy

12:02I've been telling my team all I want to do is just get to get on the bike just get
12:06me on the bike
12:07That's all I want to do like, you know, we always have all the media stuff and all that. I'm

12:11I couldn't care less about that. I just want to be on my half in my happy place on my
12:15dirt bike
12:16You know, that's where I have my most fun
12:18I've had a lot of fun here obviously at parlor as well
12:21So I just can't wait to go out there and get the you know that adrenaline rushing again, you know
12:25She's don't get the same feeling when you're practicing to when you're racing. So I'm just
12:31I'm just excited man. I'm like a little kid just really want to go race on the weekends as a
12:36as an amateur and stuff like that
12:37So I'm excited to get back out there in this race and have those have those first race like jitters
12:43again and stuff like that
12:44And I just honestly just can't wait
12:48Jet they're excited to go racing, but as far as actually being on his motorcycle
12:52It was about nine weeks kind of post
12:55I'm sort of getting back on it to this point and I think a lot of people including myself thought
13:00that meant a lot of
13:01Outdoor testing and we know that translates not just for jet
13:04But over to hunter's bike as well because their setups are so similar
13:08But checking in with crew chief right at hutch sensor today today
13:11He said no that wasn't the case because they had to wait so long for jet to sort of get
13:16back to pace after the injury
13:17But really that testing time didn't exist
13:20So he said what we're looking at for both the guys really is mostly
13:24Post salt lake city, which was just a few weeks back
13:28So incredible really to think that they're in this comfort point right there
13:32They are right now with the motorbike both hunter running up front then jet in third
13:36We really just a few weeks prep and he reflected back to sort of this time last year
13:40And he said to look back where we were then at the season opener
13:43And how far we've come and where we are now with the motorcycle
13:46Except that's just a night and day comparison
13:49Yeah, it is and and again as I said earlier when we're talking to jt
13:54So if you watch jet lawrence here, and if you watched him in his past what he does really good
13:58He's very patient. He's very light on the motorcycle
14:00And what I noticed today is that he's sitting down a little bit more more than normal a lot of
14:06these sections
14:06And where he's sitting down is anywhere where it's a lot of force on his lower body
14:11And you can tell like he's on the back. He's over jumping things which tells me when he over jumps
14:16it
14:17You can see his body collapse. So he's kind of protecting that foot again with this guy's dealing with a
14:23life career ending
14:25injury, so
14:27No mistake. I mean not really harping on him
14:29But a lot of this is coming down for him just rust and learning how to be the new version
14:34of jet launch with this injury until he gets to go
14:36Gets it back 100%
14:40The broken talus in his foot. Yeah, that's expected to take
14:45They were thinking a year they knew they could take time off of it with all the rehab technology that
14:49they do have
14:50But this is a pretty tough sport
14:52Every time you land one of these obstacles
14:55To deal with when I heard him say yesterday that it hurts when he's riding you know with his toes
15:00the ball
15:01This foot in the foot peg and he lands and jump and I'm thinking
15:04He's riding like that all the way around the racetrack. That's a lot
15:07Yeah, it is and if you again you watch him off that tabletop you can see him. He's just
15:12Squatting a little bit up some of these areas were last year
15:15I think he'd be standing up and a lot of that's just from not riding the lower body's got to
15:19build it
15:19But if you watch his body language, um, he's got better all day
15:22But anytime he gets in these really a lot of g-forces on his body
15:27You can see him kind of moving his body around to absorb that and that to me
15:31It's just going to take a little bit of time, but this is the worst he's going to be and
15:35he's in third place
15:36Then these guys are going to be in for a long summer
15:39Maybe not him. Yeah
15:41Exactly got a long way to go to get to hunter who's 10 seconds up the road deegan
15:46Next work of rj hampshire he's still digging at a lap or two ago the entire pace picked up everyone
15:52trump jumped into the
15:54eight teams deegan still going for it fifth now fifth in moto one
15:59Yeah, I think it's again good rod for uh hate and what he's going to end up doing is as
16:05learning
16:06How this 450 works out, you know during the second moto because there's one thing you can have all his
16:11talent
16:11But just the bike and being at this level hate's got to learn how to work on that his whole
16:16team
16:16So he'll get better with the motorcycle as well

17:51It's coming back up. He can see those guys

19:38Not too much riding coming into the opener of pro motocross sexton trying to salvage something
19:45Really hard to rate the day for sexton because of those two crashes who knows he could have been a
19:50podium position
19:51Yeah, but I think chase can kind of salvage today. He's able to make the pass
19:56On rj. It's not going to be where he wants to be at
19:59But he's getting a lot of info on the motorcycle give him a direction are we close and he looks
20:04like he's aggressive
20:05But every time he's been in that spot. He's kind of gone down
20:08So is that him or maybe the motorcycle, but I love to see the number four

20:27The one rider we expected to be in this battle that is not is the legend eli tomat the fourth

20:32This is the first lap of the year left side of the screen
20:35Yeah, just a racing incident and the last time eli was on the racetrack in salt lake city
20:40Something similar kind of happening at so a tough break for him, but more on eli. Let's go down the

20:48Thank you, james. Well, he didn't leave the facility here and he went for further evaluation
20:53And it was the neck area that they were looking at but x-ray
20:56Showed that there are no broken bones, which is obviously very good news
21:00But there is a neck strain and and they will be taking a further look at that this week
21:06So we'll get further evaluation this week

21:11This is now three times have you seen tomac go down he crashed in the whoops at the qualifying in
21:16cleveland supercross
21:17Then the crash early in the night at salt lake city now this so they're starting to stack up there
21:23certainly hope for the best
21:25Yeah, yeah, that's tough and and as you get older it's the healing the recovery part that maybe takes a
21:32little bit longer to compare it to where you're young
21:33But i like when we showed that camera you notice hunter lawrence his mechanic was smiling out there and he
21:39should be his rider looked great today
21:42It looks just like he did in supercross pretty easy still got you know almost nine minutes left plus two
21:47laps
21:48so far man 96 strong performance
21:52I don't know if for some reason it's always a little undervalued
21:56But I think everybody's just come to realize this is you hunter lawrence is indoors outdoors
22:02hybrid tracks boat across the nations
22:04It's been a long time since this guy has not been up front on any type of track. Yeah, I
22:10think you can
22:11Look at that because of jet lawrence. I think brother, you know, I mean, it's hard you look at hunter
22:17lawrence
22:17I mean without his brother there. He's got what three four championships, especially
22:21um, you know last couple years, but
22:24It's hard to be in the shadow of your younger brother
22:26But because he was in the shadow man to the di out here fighting and never give up
22:32And to be supportive of your brother keep that family relationship and continue being better yourself
22:38That's this is what you're seeing and i'll go back and say what I said earlier
22:42No one has raised this version of hunter lawrence not even jet lawrence
22:47And if this is the version of hunter lawrence, I don't know even healthy
22:51This guy's gonna be hard to beat right now because he's only getting better
22:55You can see it starting from supercross to here
22:57Yep, and it was getting much closer in pro motocross last year between them than it was the year before
23:03When hunter was a 450 rookie and then we saw the steps he took indoors
23:06He just keeps improving and he's looking to go 1-1 today
23:11I wouldn't quite say dominant fashion because prado has been close, but he did top the qualifying sessions as well
23:17Will it's about as close as you can come to a perfect day
23:20It is indeed and rookie seasons you just talked about it there jason a very
23:25They're very telling right when we look back at jets rookie season and it was clear that was clear car
23:31first the fastest qualifying goes
23:331-1 when we look at that rookie season you talked about the hunter there back in 2024
23:38He was third fastest qualifier went 2-3 per second and that was obviously against his brother
23:45So really we don't have to look very far to to find why hunter lawrence is as good as he
23:52is
23:52We just look at the stats, but like you said it's kind of his brother and his incredible performances sometimes
23:58confuse that a little bit
23:59But it's right there and it has been since 2024 when he was a rookie jt
24:04Yes, well and uh for more on that hunter lawrence story johnny
24:08I want to ask you about the days following that salt lake city round and i'm sure it was really
24:13hard to judge us for hunter
24:15But what went on in the first couple of weeks that we're trying to just get hunter back to zero

24:20Mentally back to normal before he can even start thinking about coming and winning here at fox raceway
24:26Yeah, that's a good way to put it. I mean definitely
24:29You know, we were so close, but then kenny was a little bit better at the end and
24:35Yeah, like it takes a while to get over that for sure
24:38I mean we don't sit there and dwell on it for a long time, but but hunters pretty tough on
24:42himself
24:43I'm a lot like that also
24:45So, you know, I don't have to scold them and say anything to him just kind of that downtime 48
24:51hours or so
24:53And then I think he waited about three days to get on his outdoor bike
24:56But it was pretty much already ready for him because jet has done a lot of the work for him
25:00outdoors
25:01Great job. And uh, this is a heck of a way to bounce back
25:04Yeah, I had a chance to talk to johnny and even those guys and what you think happened
25:10I think what helped hunter is one his brother coming back from injury even with hey deegan coming in there
25:16was a lot of hype so
25:17Hunter, um, You know knew he kind of had to come out here, but I think there was a lot
25:21of
25:21Pressure that maybe wasn't on him because of what jet was coming back
25:25There was a lot of talk about him and hunter slots underneath that radar, but even more than that
25:30I think having that extra week off
25:33Between supercross and motocross this year. I think it eliminated to that
25:37Hangover effect that we kind of say it from the supercross and it gives him time to kind of get
25:42over what he went through
25:43That heartbreaking supercross and he's back out here. But again, man
25:47You didn't you said you didn't want to say it but i'm gonna tell you right here
25:50This is a beat down. This is okay. Okay. This this races. I know it's only seven seconds
25:56But it's not even close. This guy's in a whole different league of his own right now
26:00And if he needed to pull it out to 10, he could do it
26:03He's on he's on rails today
26:06And he did
26:08Go right back after prado as soon as prado got him in this photo. It did not take him long
26:12To regain control

26:38And he if he needed to pull it to 10 or 12 seconds right now, no problem
26:41He could do it two outs. Yeah, it is and again
26:45If you look at his brother and even some of races hunters won, I mean, it's not like he's out

26:50He's always wants to pull out to 30 seconds. It's how they kind of win races
26:54They kind of keep it close, but he could turn up the screws really easy and

28:12Than last year last year was just around the top five of this race which actually seemed fine

28:24And look most of the fire from deegan has been aimed squarely at jet lawrence
28:29But I cannot imagine that any of these proud guys that have won this title before like chase sexton

28:57I just won this championship. I am the guy and it's almost like he's got replaced
29:02So if he could get close to it, he's going to want to beat him for a lot of different

29:05But again, I think it's important for chase to just mentally
29:09If he wins this it'll be a somewhat of a silver lining in this day
29:14If you can recover after two crashes knowing that he possibly could have been on the podium
29:17Was able to show that speed run down hate deegan and um, you know, finish that top five
29:23A lot of work with that motorcycle chase told me yesterday a lot better than where they were even just

29:29With the outdoor testing they made some major changes to the bike, but he kept
29:34Cautioning that look it feels good at home, but you never know until you go racing
29:37I would say overall a positive day speed wise for him in those crashes. He is not giving up and

32:30But hunter lawrence has it on lock today
