00:00If you appreciate etymology and how words kind of can change their meaning over time then you
00:05might like this because I found this today looking in Proverbs 3 and I was thinking on
00:10cliches and how so many of our scriptures have become cliches. They lost their original oomph
00:16and impact because they are either overly used, they're on t-shirts everywhere and that sort of
00:23thing and so when I'm looking at Proverbs 3 5 which is something you guys all know. Trust in
00:28the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. You acknowledge him in all your
00:33ways and he'll direct your paths. I'll make him straight, right? But then it goes into the next
00:38part and here's where we miss in just the cliche of the quick one-liner, two-liner. Be not wise
00:44in
00:44your own eyes but fear the Lord. Depart from evil and it will be health to your navel and marrow
00:52to
00:52your bones. Okay that kind of is meaningful right there and we miss that and you don't hear that
00:57preached anytime because it's a cliche. The whole thing has become a cliche. Now why is this important?
01:04Because God is effectively our placenta and our umbilical cord. They work together
01:09just like they do to supply a baby with what is needed to grow, to breathe. I mean
01:16according to the Cleveland Clinic that placenta and umbilical combo is the
01:21baby's lungs. It's the GI tract. It takes care of that exchange, the two-way traffic of the oxygen-rich
01:28blood coming in and then removing the the blood that doesn't have the oxygen and the waste and
01:34everything else. So we need to remember that God is doing that in our lives every day and the way
01:41to
01:41ensure that that happens is to not be wise in our own eyes. Not be so full of pride in
01:47that way but rely on
01:49him for that and to make sure that we are receiving that health for our navel and that fresh blood,
01:55that marrow for our bones and it's coming from him.
