In this video: I Know My Sheep, and My Sheep Know Me.

Do you know if you have blown God off when He’s trying to speak with you? It is sadly an easy thing to do because of how we have been conditioned by the world to pay attention to the wrong things. Come along with me on a short journey of how the Lord caught my attention and taught me some things this week about Himself, us, and the Word.

We can miss what the Lord is giving us the opportunity to fine tune, if we’re distracted by life. Let’s get trained by Holy Spirit to listen and obey.

Like He said, "I know Mine."

Strong's G1097 - ginōskō...a powerful word in definition, particularly experiential knowledge.

Scriptures in this episode: John 10:14, John 10:27, Psalm 32:8, Philippians 3:20

00:09Welcome to Marvel and Mysteries. My name is Tracy, and today we are talking about listening
00:15to the voice of the Lord in ways that you might not expect. Most people, I think, are thinking
00:22they'll hear the voice of the Lord if they're reading through their Bible, or if they go to
00:27a prophetic meeting that they might get called out by a prophet or something that would speak
00:32the word of the Lord to them, or some other fashion where they would hear God or know in
00:38some kind of communication. But in our lives, because they're so busy, sometimes we can miss
00:44what the Lord is inviting us into. And sometimes that can be something of a scavenger hunt that
00:52you can enjoy, and it gives you a framework around the revelation that you are learning
00:58and the truth that you're learning to really undergird you in the days going forward. So
01:04it's multi-purpose. It's something that's going to be fun for you. You're going to be trained
01:10by the Lord how to hear His voice. And structurally, as Christ is being formed in you, it's going
01:15to help in that formation. It's going to help in that structure. And so I want you to be
01:21excited about this, because this is a place that you can learn so much so quickly from
01:27the Lord. And because there's a story, because there's a testimony of what you went through,
01:33it's recorded on your life. It's recorded on your heart. You remember it. You can tell other
01:39people about it and share with them. And then they can learn too. And then they can experience
01:44the same things from God and learn how to listen for His voice. And it says in Psalms that He's
01:51able to guide us with His eye. Those of us who belong to Him, He can guide us with His
01:56eye. And
01:57you know as well as I do, when you were little, if you were getting in trouble, your mom could
02:01do that
02:01to you. Your dad could do that to you. And just give that look at you, and you're going to
02:06make your
02:06decisions very carefully from then on out. So that's what God does with us. To this whole end,
02:12I want to share just one little set of circumstances that happened that could have seemed like very
02:18minute and a moment of like, well, who cares about that, that actually led into something else entirely
02:26that I want to just share with you today. And hopefully this will encourage you to pay attention
02:33to what God is doing, even the small things that you may not think, because He's training you.
02:40He's training you up. These small things will undergird you and help you in the revelation
02:46going forward again. So here was the scene. I was in my car, I'm driving through a little town,
02:53and I've driven through it countless times. And one of the businesses has a sign outside that has the
02:59time and the temperature on it, you know, classic. I don't ever look at it. When I go through that
03:05area, I don't ever look at it, because I've got the time on my car, or I've just looked at
03:11the time
03:11before I left the house or whatever. So I'm not needing to look at the time or the temperature
03:16at all. But I'm driving by and I have this very strong sense is very strong internal impression,
03:24almost to the point where I feel like my head turned up, almost as if I didn't control it. Now,
03:31obviously, I did. But it's just that you feel that unction, that urge, like I have to do this. So
03:37I look up at this time thing, and at this clock and temperature, and it says 1014. Okay, so it's
03:471014.
03:48So what's the big whoop? Well, when I see anything with 10, I tend to think of John 1010. And
03:55this was
03:56not John 1010. But it's always a good reminder of what the rules of the game are, so to speak.
04:02John 1010, you know, the enemy comes to kill, steal, destroy. And I have come to give you life in
04:09that
04:09in abundance, right? So that's kind of where I'm already calibrated toward naturally because of the
04:16way the Lord has trained me. But I'm seeing John 1014. And I'm terrible with addresses in the Bible
04:23sometimes. So I'm like, I don't remember what the what the 1014 is. And so I had to had to
04:29stop and
04:29look it up. And here's the unique thing is that before I saw the sign, I saw the sign. No,
04:37I'm sorry.
04:38Before I saw the sign. And I can't get that song out of my head. Oh my gosh. So it
04:45opened up my eyes.
04:46Okay, I gotta stop, stop, stop. Okay. So before I saw the time and temperature sign on the building,
04:55I had been praying and really asking the Lord to come through for different circumstances,
05:02some things in my family and friends and just, you know, Lord be there. And we know he's there. But
05:08just those times that you have with the Lord when you're like, geez, you know, like, just really need
05:13your wisdom, really need this. We're like, are you, are you hearing me at all? You know, those,
05:17those kinds of, of communications with him in those moments where maybe you're not in the greatest gift
05:24of faith possible. So I was kind of there right then. And so then I get John 1014. And so
05:33I stopped
05:34to look it up because you shouldn't text and drive. Okay. So John 1014, I am the good shepherd.
05:41Lord, I know my sheep and my sheep know me. So that was a hallelujah right there. That's exciting
05:51to be praying about something like that. Like, yeah, yeah. Like I know my sheep and my sheep know me.
05:59So he's hearing me good. Like, oh my gosh, thank you, Lord. Thank you. Thank you, Lord. And then that
06:05kind of led to just another layer of confirmation and just education for me, because in that verse
06:15of and sheep is not sheep is implied. It's it's he is saying, I am the good shepherd. I know
06:25mine,
06:25and mine know me. So it's this really beautiful, possessive kind of like, I know mine. I know mine.
06:34But good, in the definition here, the Greek, there's there's, it's used in a different number
06:42of ways. And one of them is beautiful and good. And in this particular verse, it means competent,
06:48able, such as one ought to be. And in this, not only is he the good shepherd, but he he
06:56knows us,
06:57he has spent time with us. But because he knows us, think about it. He loved us first.
07:06His love came first for all of us, before we're responding back to him. So I know mine, and mine
07:18know me. And it is an invitation to know him like that in the the word is gnosko, which some
07:28of you
07:29will know that from the reference of the gnosko sons, gnosko gnosko, sons of God, the mature sons of
07:37God. This is a process of getting to know him and understanding his divinity, understanding like his
07:47messianic headship, for lack of a better way to call it, and really being able to fellowship very
07:54deeply with us. But knowing that it is that response that is back to him, he loved us first,
08:01while we were still yet sinners, he died for us first, he loved us first. And he already knows,
08:10and he knows that that back and forth with us. And think about Philippians and Philippians,
08:17when you belong to the Lord, we are citizens of the kingdom of heaven. And depending on the
08:24translation, you're having the conversation, you're having the chitty chat of heaven. You're
08:30a citizen of that area, the conversation is about that. And when we are knowing the Lord,
08:37that's what you're having, you're having that back and forth conversation. Husbands and wives have a
08:43certain back and forth conversation. And they don't necessarily need to be speaking to one another,
08:49because they know, they know one another in that sense. And that same word can mean that knowing
08:56between a husband and a wife. And also, the additional knowing that goes along with that
09:03when you're in covenant marriage. Capisce, right? So, the intimacy that comes with that,
09:10you're learning to fellowship, you're learning another individual. And when you first are getting
09:19you're keying into, not only, you know, here on earth, we're looking at what does the person look
09:23like, but it's really, what do they sound like? You know, you can feel the resonance in their voice.
09:32You can feel the tumba of their voice. You can feel all of that coming at you. And when you
09:39learn
09:40the Lord, He already loves you and knows you. And that conversation is going on to where
09:46you're responding to Him. And it's kind of sad that sometimes we feel like it's so easy for the
09:55enemy to kind of speak to us and get us off path. Because we really don't like His voice. It's
10:05just
10:05that He uses that fear to instill things and to intimidate us when it really is not the case that
10:14we are super familiar necessarily with the enemy's voice. But we've been schooled and conditioned by
10:21the world to be so scared about literally everything that when the enemy speaks, that seems
10:29like it's more familiar to us because of the perpetual state that the earth tries to, well,
10:34not the earth, not the earth's fault, but the people that are following after the dark lords,
10:40like that's where all this junk is coming from. So you do hear the Lord's voice, but you're not as
10:48accustomed to receiving it initially because it sounds too good to be true. If you sit down and you
10:58begin to journal, you start to pray and you start to journal and the Lord is speaking and you kind
11:04of
11:04take notes of what He is speaking to you, or maybe He gives you some scriptures to kind of confirm
11:10things for you. Maybe He does that. And you will notice that when you read it back to yourself,
11:16it'll all sound too good to be true. That's how the Lord really is seeing you and wanting you to
11:22be,
11:22and He's going to start to make corrections. In that place of love, in that place of intimacy,
11:28intimacy is where He can make corrections. Because with that intimacy and daily conversation,
11:36that's where the trust is built. And you know those people in your life that you can trust,
11:43and you can trust them with even your junk, and they won't spit it in your face the next day.
11:49You can trust them with it. They'll pray you through it. They'll support, they'll be there for you,
11:55and they still show up the next day. They don't say, well, you know, I'm out. You know,
12:00you didn't perform up to a certain standard, so bye! That's not the way it works. And the Lord is
12:06like that, where you have that intimacy with Him to share with Him everything that is on your heart.
12:13Because you can hide anything you want to, or you can try to hide it. You don't think He sees
12:18it? He
12:19sees it, and He's like, hey, I want what you got in your pocket over there. So, why don't you
12:23just
12:24pull it out and give it to me so we can deal with it and keep on going? Because He
12:28is learning you,
12:29and you're learning Him. He knows you already. Let me rephrase kind of how I'm speaking about that.
12:36The Lord knows you already. He already loved you. He created you from the very beginning,
12:42whenever He did. Poof! Okay? Talk about the books that are written about you,
12:48that He wrote about you, and the fulfillment of those things. Okay? There is already a knowing.
12:56He knows you. And, we'll say that, He knows you, and He gets to know you. This Gnosko process
13:06of getting to know someone is literally just that, getting to know. How beautiful is that
13:16you have the Lord who has created you, and birthed you, and put you together, and sculpted you into
13:23this beautiful poem? Wow, I'm mixing metaphors, but hopefully you're following me. He has put you
13:30together, and then you get to express all of that with Him, and He gets to know you in a
13:39relationship.
13:41How beautiful is that? And through that relationship, you get to know His voice.
13:49I'm going to link a video in the description about that idea of the shepherd's voice.
13:56And when He says, like, my sheep know my voice, the voice of another they're not going to listen to.
14:04I want you to see this video, because it just shows some kids that are out, and they're being told
14:11the
14:12words to say to call in some sheep, and they're all taking a shot at it. And then you'll see
14:19what
14:19happens when the shepherd calls out to his sheep, and the response that they have to him,
14:27because they know his voice, because they have gotten to know him, and he knows all of them,
14:36and loves them all by name. So, I say all this to say, pay attention to your surroundings.
14:46Pay attention to those little nudges and little unctions where you're going home every day the same
14:53way you come home from work, and you have that weird little feeling like, come over here,
15:00turn down this road, because I want to show you something. Because the Lord will do those things
15:06to train you, and He's not a slave master, task master jerk like the enemy is. He is going to
15:15do
15:15things and incorporate them into your day. Romans 8, all things work together for the good of those who
15:22love the Lord. So, even the trashiest, lousiest, worst set of circumstances can still actually be
15:28spun and work for you. So, remember that. But pay attention in your daily life to those little nudges,
15:36to those little whispers like that, and have fun. Your Father is a good Father. He's able. He's
15:45competent. He loves you. He wants to train you. We have Holy Spirit to train us to be our teacher.
15:53Ask Him, Holy Spirit, Spirit of Truth. Teach me. Guide me. Recognize that that's His job,
16:05is to teach you. He's the guarantor. He is the down payment that's been made,
16:12that resides in you for your eternal salvation. Like, there's so much to what Holy Spirit does.
16:21That's a whole other video right there. But pay attention to such things, and see the way that
16:29the Lord is saying, like, this is the way, walkie in it. Part of that's your training. So, go ahead.
16:36Follow Him. Right? Follow Him. And see where He takes you, and see the little nuggets that He pulls
16:46out of Revelation that you can't ever possibly forget, because you experienced it. You have the
16:55experiential knowledge of it. And that's part of being a Gnosko son of God. Thank you so much for
17:05listening. Have a great day, and we'll see you here the next time on Marvel and Mysteries.
