00:16directly caused by the escalation of the U.S. genocidal blockade. And Leme Trier,
00:21a representative of the organization, warned that the U.S. blockade with measures such as
00:27strong tariffs against countries supplying oil to the island prevents students and teachers
00:32from attending classes, learning and leading a normal social life. This leaves deep lasting
00:38impacts on an entire generation. In light of this situation, the Cuban Ministry of Education
00:43brought forward the end of the general education school year to June and suspended entrance exams
00:49for higher education.
00:57On Friday, military authorities from Cuba and the U.S. sergeant command met to discuss security
01:02matters. The Cuban Revolutionary Army Forces reported that a meeting took place between
01:06the head of the U.S. sergeant command, General Francis L. Donovan, and the first deputy chief
01:12of the general staff of the Revolutionary Army Forces, Army Corps General Roberto Legra Sotolongo.
01:19Both delegations described the meeting as positive and said that they addressed issues related
01:24to security around the perimeter of the Guantanamo naval base. They also agreed to maintain communication
01:30between the two military commands. It should be noted that the meeting took place amid heightened
01:35tensions following the U.S. tightening of the blockade against the island.
