Cuba's tourism industry is facing mounting pressure as a severe fuel crisis threatened the island's crucial economic sector.

Cubans are also increasingly adopting electric vehicles as fuel became more scarce and the United States cut off oil supply from Venezuela to Cuba as the US declared Cuba "an unusual and extraordinary threat" to its national security.

Last week, the Cuban government detailed a wide-ranging plan to ration fuel and protect essential services.
