00:00Where are we off to today, Chase?
00:02Today we are back on Miranda Cook, headed to meet Linda.
00:06In 2016, my husband and I bought it, and he passed away a month later.
00:11So I just want to see it transformed into what our dream was.
00:15Hey, you're doing our job.
00:17I'm a job jumper.
00:18Hey, is there water coming out back?
00:19Tell him to shut it off.
00:21Turn it off.
00:21You're making a plunge.
00:23Chase, what?
00:24Any lumber on the island?
00:26Nope.
00:27You might need to get ready for more stayovers, Linda.
00:30I think once everyone sees the camp, they're going to be signing up.
00:33Oh, my gosh.
00:35That looks incredible.
00:37Wow.
00:37This is exactly what I wanted.
00:50Ice out today.
00:52You're chasing a loon.
00:53And a baby.
00:54Where's the baby?
00:55Is that a baby or it's just its feet?
00:57I don't see the baby.
00:58That's its feet.
01:00It's the loony bin.
01:03Where are we off to today, Chase?
01:05Out for a nice leisurely cruise, Chase.
01:07Today we are back on Maranacook.
01:11Headed out to another island.
01:13Nice.
01:13Headed to meet Linda and a couple of her family members.
01:17She bought the camp in 2016.
01:19It was her and her husband's dream, and unfortunately her husband passed away.
01:24And so it was left to Linda and her daughter.
01:28And they haven't really used the camp much or done much with it, and they're looking to breathe
01:32some new life into it.
01:33Cool.
01:34We like islands.
01:35We like the island life.
01:37I know island life well.
01:39Island people know things about islands.
01:41Yeah.
01:41We're on island times.
01:42We're experienced.
01:43We know how to get things on and off.
01:46Oh, guess what?
01:47We need to get them.
01:48We'll make them a cart.
01:49Oh, carts are very cool.
01:50Because carts are definitely good island things.
01:53Living on an island is not faint heart, but it keeps you active.
01:55Something's crawling out of my life.
01:58You have to be prepared.
02:01Hi.
02:02Hi.
02:02How's it going?
02:03My husband and I fell in love with it because we love log cabins.
02:07We always love the rustic look.
02:09Hi, I'm Ryan.
02:10I'm Donna.
02:11Nice to meet you.
02:11I'm Nicole.
02:12What a beautiful spot.
02:13And we thought it's secluded, so we have some privacy.
02:16Great day for being on an island.
02:18Oh, yeah.
02:19It is.
02:19We're just out.
02:20And it just was really what we wanted.
02:22Well, here it is.
02:24That is so cute.
02:26It's really cool.
02:27Are those real logs?
02:28Is it real log cabin?
02:29Yep.
02:30Oh, wow.
02:30Yep.
02:31In 2016, this came on the market.
02:33My husband texted me the picture and everything.
02:34I said, just buy it.
02:37So we literally bought it.
02:38And we came over a couple times.
02:41And the last time we were just talking, we were on the porch.
02:43And it was the last time that he was over here because he passed away about a month later.
02:49So it literally was just, you know, very heartbreaking for me.
02:53Yeah.
02:53We were college sweethearts.
02:55And it was just, you know, it was devastating.
02:58We left this for you, though.
03:00That's good.
03:00Yeah.
03:00We wanted a place where our families could enjoy it.
03:03And so that's why I called you guys.
03:06Well, we're glad you're ready now.
03:08What are you looking to have done?
03:10Well, it really needs a new roof.
03:12As you can see, it's covered in moss.
03:14And I love the metal roof.
03:15They're just rustic looking.
03:16And I'd like the cabin to be stained and sealed because there's things that I think crawled in there.
03:23So I'd also like where the porch is, potentially expanding the living room and, you know, maybe doing another screened
03:30-in porch because I love screened-in porches with a deck off that.
03:34The perch up there, when we bought the camp, there was a bench there.
03:37And they took it.
03:39And the steps were just decrepit.
03:41So when my husband went up there, he's like, where's the bench?
03:45I said, we have to get another one at some point.
03:47And I just didn't.
03:47Okay.
03:48So no power.
03:49No power.
03:50But it does have a septic.
03:52Yeah.
03:52So you bring in the water.
03:55We bring in the water through a pump.
03:56Gotcha.
03:57Yep.
03:57And what do you do for a bathroom and kitchen currently in there?
04:01Well, the bathroom, it's just got a toilet.
04:03Yeah.
04:04The kitchen's got a counter.
04:06Yeah.
04:06It's got a gas fridge and a gas stove.
04:08You want to stick with that?
04:09Yeah.
04:10Yeah, yeah.
04:10And how many bedrooms does it currently have?
04:12Open concept upstairs.
04:14It's got the areas where you can put two beds.
04:17And then it's got a small room in there.
04:19It probably can only fit a bunk bed in there.
04:21I just want to see it transformed into what our dream was.
04:26So when would you like to have the work completed by?
04:29I'm thinking maybe eight to ten weeks.
04:31Why don't you give us ten weeks?
04:32Okay, that's fine.
04:33That's fine.
04:34That's fine.
04:34And how much do you have to put into the cabin renovations?
04:38About 40.
04:39Okay.
04:39We just need a set of keys and we can get started.
04:42Okay, here you go.
04:43All right.
04:44Awesome.
04:44Thank you very much.
04:45See you.
04:45Ten weeks.
04:46Cool.
04:47Right?
04:48That front porch is awesome.
04:50It is.
04:50I like the rock work.
04:51This is like a little fairy land where you picture the woods to be like.
04:55Nice.
04:56This is a cool room.
04:58But lots of ways for bugs to get in.
05:00Lots of ways for bugs to get in.
05:04It makes it feel like those cabins out west.
05:07It does feel like an out west cabin.
05:09It's all the old cabins out west.
05:10They have the white chinking and caulking.
05:12Are you an out west cabin master?
05:13I would call myself a master.
05:14Have you been out to a lot of cabins out west?
05:16I have.
05:17Roll the footage.
05:20There's no footage of that.
05:23That's cute.
05:24Wicked cool.
05:25Oh, look.
05:25Someone left just the piano strings here.
05:27Yeah.
05:28There's no reason, but we'll never know.
05:29Let me check out this bathroom.
05:30Oh, I like the white in here.
05:32It's nice.
05:33The kitchen's nice.
05:34So the inside is in good shape, huh?
05:35Yeah, so upstairs, you know, you can see how it's just unfinished.
05:39It just needs to be insulated and closed in with pine.
05:43It's just like a big open loft.
05:49Put a bed here, a bed here, so it's kind of two separate areas.
05:53Oh, yeah.
05:54That's pretty neat.
05:55Look, you keep your eye on your water right there.
06:02Yeah, new windows will be nice.
06:04On the inside of Linda's camp, we'll take down the wall that separates the screened-in
06:07porch from the living area to create a larger living space for Linda and her family, and
06:11we'll finish off the upstairs by insulating and pining the walls.
06:14On the exterior, we'll tear off the screens on the porch and close it in.
06:18Build out a new screened-in porch on the front of the camp and move the entryway to the
06:22water side for more privacy.
06:23We'll seal and cock it, give it a nice dark stain, new windows, new metal roof.
06:28We'll replace the old set of stairs and add a bench out by the water's overlook.
06:33Well, the morning's not even half over.
06:35What do you want to do?
06:36Let's get started.
06:37Ugh!
06:39Yeah, so it's a beautiful day.
06:41We've met the camp owners.
06:42We know what they're looking to have done, so we'll grab Dixie, Jedi, and Brad and get
06:47started right away.
06:48I have my friend Kenan's in town.
06:49Bring her out.
06:50All the guys, all the guys.
06:54Did you like it?
06:55A little creepy.
06:58What, are you just going to go backwards a little way to the point?
07:00I don't even have to turn around when I get down.
07:02Then they'll just take the shot, reverse it, and we'll be going forward.
07:04Right.
07:05Yeah.
07:06We're up.
07:07So we got a call this morning.
07:09We were going to be doing an afternoon demo out of Moranacook Lake.
07:13Got me?
07:14Yeah.
07:15We were told to meet at the boat landing.
07:17Lake life demo.
07:18Sweet.
07:18Got my safety sandals on.
07:20Right off the bat, we knew we were headed for the island.
07:24Kenan, how's it going?
07:25It's good.
07:26Kenan.
07:26Does camp look familiar?
07:28A little bit.
07:29Yeah, it looks like Secord.
07:30I know.
07:31We called her in.
07:32Our friend Kenan's in town, and the last time she was in town.
07:34Hi, Kenan.
07:35Hi, Kenan.
07:35Where's your tool belt?
07:36It's my invisible tool belt.
07:38That was a cabin just like that.
07:40It was.
07:40Exactly.
07:41So what do we need to do today?
07:42Today's goal is to get that screen porch stripped back, take off some of the window trim,
07:47just kind of see what we're working with and what it's going to take to turn that into living
07:51space for the rest of the cabin, and there's an old piano, just the guts.
07:56Cool.
07:57Let's get that piano out of here.
07:58Well, when we got here, you got it.
08:00It looked like someone had dismantled all the light parts of the piano.
08:04Watch your step and left the big heavy stuff.
08:06You want to go right here where that is?
08:07Right, and then, yeah, once that wall's out of there for us to take care of.
08:11Dang.
08:12We're taking the screws out there, sir.
08:14Yeah, let's get those screw guns working.
08:16Opening up some screens.
08:18Hey, you're doing our job.
08:21I'm a job jumper.
08:23You're going to leave us with nothing to do.
08:28Kind of seeing what the framing looks like.
08:31Good catch.
08:35All right, do we want to stack the trim rate in the bathroom?
08:40No, because we'll probably have to use that bathroom.
08:43Jump off the chair holding it.
08:45Yes!
08:47I'm going to go to the bathroom.
08:48Ryan, would you fill me up with some water, please?
08:52I'm going to turn the pump on.
08:53Let me see if I can get to work.
08:54You got any toilet paper in there?
08:56Well, actually, you're about to get some water.
08:58Wait, tell him to shut that off.
09:01Tell him to shut it off.
09:02Hey, is there water coming out back?
09:04It's going everywhere.
09:05Turn it off.
09:06You're making a flood.
09:08Hey, hey, what?
09:09Come and turn it off.
09:12There you go, honey.
09:14Oh, you've got plenty of water out.
09:20We're supposed to renovate.
09:22Well, renovation starts with wrecking the bathroom.
09:26I see this.
09:29Yeah, so I needed to use the restroom,
09:31and so Ryan turned the water on for me.
09:34And the next thing I know...
09:35Coming right in the bedroom window.
09:36It was like he created a water feature on the back porch.
09:41Oh, it's probably just spraying out of the top of it.
09:43I was up there earlier, and I opened the valve up,
09:45because I saw the barrel.
09:45There's a bucket up there.
09:46The hose must have not been in.
09:48But I assumed the barrel was empty,
09:49because we haven't had any rain.
09:50No, she's filling the toilet right now.
09:52Hi, everybody.
09:53I will be in here doing my business.
09:55That barrel was full.
09:56So what they have at this camp is a elevated water tank
10:00that they pump up to,
10:01which they sometimes call a cistern.
10:05Water comes from the lake into the cistern,
10:08into the cistern, gravity fed down to the toilet tank.
10:12There's a shutoff at the toilet.
10:13You go, shh, fills up the back of it.
10:16Makes it all flushable.
10:17Flush it.
10:18Down we go.
10:19Yep.
10:20I don't need any commenters.
10:30Let's get that piano out of here.
10:32What do you want?
10:33Right off the side there.
10:35Oh, ladder.
10:37This is the song of destruction
10:40for the symphony of destruction.
10:43Shut up.
10:44Ready?
10:45One, two, three.
10:48Yeah!
10:50Yeah!
10:51You have your own soundtrack.
10:53Rest in peace, piano.
11:01Holy smokes.
11:03The goal is to open up that wall
11:05in between the screen and porch.
11:07Look at that.
11:09It's all the jeep.
11:11One more.
11:11In the cabin as much as possible.
11:16I ran into that.
11:17That's a spike.
11:21I bet we can get a piece of this piano in there for a wedge.
11:23Look at it.
11:24Oh, yes.
11:24Look.
11:27Oh, yes.
11:30Chase.
11:31You know, we're out here on the island.
11:32We didn't bring all our tools, you know.
11:34Trying to break it?
11:35Yep.
11:37Splitting firewood.
11:39Is there an axe in any of those piles?
11:41We got it easy now.
11:42With sawzars and wah-wahs
11:44and cordless tools.
11:51Yeah!
11:52One down.
11:53Oh, she's coming out now.
11:56Hit her!
11:57Have we got out of sawzars?
11:58What would that wall ever do to you, Brad?
12:01There you go.
12:01You got it.
12:02Good.
12:02We beat that an hour ago.
12:06Oh!
12:06There you go!
12:08Hey!
12:10Yay!
12:13Good job today, guys.
12:15Yeah, great.
12:15Great job.
12:15Couldn't have done without you, Keenan.
12:17Thanks for your help, Keenan.
12:18So, we're in the leaf blower out next time.
12:20Leaf blower, sawzall.
12:22Sawzall.
12:23Maybe some power tool.
12:24Some metal blades, some wood blades.
12:25Yeah, we've got our rough openings for windows.
12:28These sidewalls, same thing.
12:29Might as well fill these in with as much window as we can.
12:32Deck off of there.
12:33Screen and porch off the front.
12:35Done.
12:35Done.
12:35I can see it already.
12:37All right.
12:37Let's go get on our boat.
12:39Get off the island.
12:40Good job, guys.
12:41Good job, guys.
12:43Let's make like a train and leave.
12:46That doesn't really work, did you see?
12:48I don't think that's how that goes.
12:49That doesn't really work, did you see?
12:57And that's all, what is that, mahogany?
13:00So, it's build day at Capere.
13:01The team is doing a heck of a job.
13:04But first things first, we've got to get cleaned up before we start building.
13:09So, we're going to remove all the debris off the islands.
13:17Then we can get to sheeting the floor system for the new expanded living space.
13:24And then framing out for the new screen porch.
13:29We'll start sheeting our living space walls.
13:35Building up the screen porch roof system.
13:40And then we can get going on rafters.
13:44Okay, ready?
13:45Oh.
13:45Ooh.
13:48Gorgeous.
13:49So, the guys are getting the roost prepped and ready for metal.
13:55Building out the side porch entrance.
14:01They're putting in new windows.
14:03We've got Christine working on getting the camp all sealed up.
14:10And then it's on to siding.
14:20Yeah, I love that.
14:26All right, ready?
14:28Yeah, you got it.
14:29Sorry.
14:29Oh, no, that's okay.
14:31Oh, sweet.
14:32Nice score.
14:33Yeah, today I am with Heidi over at the back 40.
14:35Yeah, this is nice.
14:37Yeah.
14:37She picked up an old dock cart.
14:40It's so heavy because of this axle.
14:43And the wheels.
14:44And we are going to fix it up and pretty it up.
14:48Yeah, so the Capara camp, obviously you know it's on an island.
14:51And, you know, Ryan and I have an island camp, as you know as well.
14:55Love that.
14:55And the one thing that we use all the time is our cart.
14:59And so I thought that getting one for them would be helpful.
15:03I love this.
15:04So I think today what we do is obviously the wheels we can install after.
15:09But I think that we just take it apart and then just repaint it.
15:14And I think we can just customize it by putting one big C up front like a Prera.
15:17Yeah, I like that.
15:18And I found some old paints that Chase had stored over in the paint room.
15:22Found a nice red.
15:24Looks familiar.
15:25Yeah.
15:26I think he might have taken them from us.
15:28I like that car.
15:29Okay, cool.
15:30So the cart is in pretty good shape.
15:32All right, so if you want to...
15:34Which one are you working on?
15:36This one.
15:36Okay.
15:39Nice.
15:40But the first thing to do is we took the handles off.
15:43Okay, ready?
15:44Yeah.
15:45Just so it would be easier to paint.
15:46All right, so let's see here.
15:49I think the first thing we should do is paint the sides black.
15:54And then I think in the front we'll do red.
15:55Okay.
15:56And I think we'll put a C for Caprera with yellow.
15:58I love that.
16:00Chase has this paint room that I found.
16:08How's that black?
16:09That looks good.
16:10It's going to look good, right?
16:11Clean it up nice, yeah.
16:12And so I found a nice black, which is great.
16:15It's really durable.
16:18Oh, this stuff is thick.
16:21This stuff is like...
16:21Oh, wow.
16:23It's like...
16:23How many years old is that?
16:25I think it's one that you and I bought.
16:27I know.
16:28I wonder what project it was for.
16:29I don't know.
16:30And then I wanted to just have a little color to pop,
16:33so I found this really nice red that I loved.
16:35Why is this so thick, though?
16:37I've never seen paint thicken up like this.
16:39Old?
16:39Maybe oxygen?
16:41You'd think it would cover better.
16:43Like sludge.
16:44Right?
16:45It is like sludge.
16:46It didn't quite work out as I planned.
16:49Normally, I could cut in really well,
16:50but I'm not going to be able to with this paint.
16:54Chase's fancy paint.
16:55Chase might have a whole bunch of old paints in there.
16:59It's getting hot in here.
17:01That's exactly what this was.
17:03I don't know if this is ever going to dry.
17:05That's just too thick.
17:07Yeah.
17:07Luckily, Chase has many other colors to choose from.
17:10This one already looks better.
17:11Is that our color?
17:12This is going to be our color.
17:13Okay.
17:14Chase, you can keep the paint that you stole from us.
17:19We found another red, which is just as nice.
17:21But now I think if there's any way you could wipe off this red.
17:26Oh, yeah, that'll work.
17:27Okay.
17:27Okay.
17:28I'm going to have to wipe down the old paint.
17:30This is a nice red that we picked out.
17:32I like that one.
17:32Let's keep this one, not give it back to them.
17:34Let's see here.
17:35Here we go.
17:36Round two.
17:37Oh, look at this.
17:38This is perfect.
17:38That looks a lot better.
17:39And put the new red on.
17:41So now we have to wait for this to dry so we can put paint on the sea.
17:45Yeah, so once that's dried, we're going to take the car and put it back together.
17:51Boom.
17:52And it's ready to roll.
17:53I think it looks great.
17:54You do?
17:55Yeah.
17:55I love it.
17:56Let's go have lunch.
18:09Do you want us to move those panels off to the side?
18:12Move them on this face over here.
18:14Yeah.
18:16Slide her down.
18:18Nixie.
18:19Yeah.
18:20You like it?
18:21Love it.
18:21It looks beautiful.
18:22So things are looking great at the Caprera Camp out on the island on Maranacook Lake.
18:29Welcome to Island Life.
18:31Anyone got an extra pencil?
18:33Yes.
18:34The new screen porch addition has been built, which bumps everything forward, gives them
18:41more living space.
18:42Today they're working on getting the roof completed, railings for the screened-in porch.
18:47Ah, the joys of working on it.
18:50And we should be able to get started on staining.
18:53The old screened-in porch, got a new floor, closed everything in, new windows, opened it
18:58up to make it part of the living area.
19:00The second floor.
19:01It's all insulated.
19:03All that's left, it closed everything in with pine.
19:15Oh, beautiful.
19:17So Jedi and I today are going to work on the railings for the new front porch.
19:21It's all going to be rough cut.
19:22It's going to look really good.
19:23It'll be nice, beefy, and chunky like the rest of this place.
19:31Just like we like our soup.
19:36Oh, you got your little spray?
19:39Trying it.
19:41It doesn't clog.
19:42Oh, it could be operator error on the other end.
19:45Ain't that true?
19:50Trigger.
19:52Trigger.
19:55We're making it rain man glitter today.
19:58Oh, look at this place.
20:00That place looks awesome.
20:02What's going on?
20:03I love the new porch.
20:06The roof came out great.
20:07That color was nice.
20:09The stain that Chase put on today really looks great.
20:13Jedi.
20:14What's up?
20:15That's much.
20:16They definitely wanted it to blend in.
20:19It does just that.
20:22Could you keep it down in there?
20:24It's a noisy job site today.
20:26I know.
20:27It's the sound of progress and production.
20:31Construction and...
20:32Construction.
20:33Construction.
20:34It's a sympathy of tools.
20:36There was a lot going on.
20:37We had a sprayer going on.
20:39Generator going on.
20:40We have Wawa's.
20:41There's a multi-tools.
20:4393.
20:44Nine other 93.
20:46Anyone see a two-foot level?
20:48We got Ashley going on.
20:52I can't hear anything up here.
20:55Ashley, you want to come over to this side and just hold my spacer?
20:59It was a lot.
21:01Yeah, I've just made myself a little jig here that gives me my four-inch gap.
21:06Oh.
21:06We want a four-inch gap between all the ballast.
21:09Oh, gosh.
21:10Ow!
21:11Oh, sorry.
21:11I didn't mean to do that.
21:13That way no little kids are stuck in their heads through it.
21:15Dogs aren't getting stuck in it.
21:17So I just make myself a little jig, hold it in place.
21:20Oh, we're cooking with gas now, guys.
21:22Set my next one up.
21:24Nail it in.
21:25Yeah, so I'm holding up the spacer.
21:27Ryan's cutting up delay.
21:28Okay.
21:30We're jamming.
21:32And Jedi is nailing them in.
21:34Last one.
21:39Oh, it looks good, doesn't it?
21:40Yep.
21:41Looks real good.
21:42Big transformation on this one.
21:44What's left?
21:45Doors.
21:46Doors.
21:46That's it?
21:47Doors and a good door.
21:48Is today finished in touches?
21:49No.
21:50No, roof's on.
21:51That's huge.
21:52That's wicked huge.
21:53Cool.
21:53Nice work today.
21:54Nice work.
21:56All right, let's get off the island.
21:57Yeah, motor out.
21:58You're going to need a badge to clean this place up.
22:00Oh, good thing we have one.
22:09Ashley, tell me what we've got here.
22:11Well, I know you came out to help Ryan.
22:16But I need to finish this project, and it's really easy.
22:19It should be.
22:19Yeah, today I'm out on Ryan and Ashley's island, just kind of giving Ryan a hand, winterizing
22:23everything, getting his island dialed up before snow flies, and Ashley roped me into helping
22:29her with some car project.
22:31So this is the car for the Cabrera camp.
22:32Okay.
22:33Tidy and I took the handle off just to make it easier to paint.
22:37Pretty much, I just need some help reinstalling it, because it's kind of a two-person job.
22:40Okay.
22:41This looks like the handle here, right?
22:43That's going to go in those two holes there.
22:45Let me see.
22:47Yep.
22:47Okay.
22:48We're going to save that for last.
22:50Okay.
22:51This, I'm assuming, is the two front feet.
22:55Oh, yeah.
22:56That's the one that you set it down with.
22:57Yeah, yeah.
22:57Yep.
22:58So what we're going to do, we're going to put the front leg on, which I believe is that.
23:04So we're going to turn it like this.
23:06Does that look correct there?
23:08Yep, yep, yep, yep.
23:08Okay.
23:09Look, you weren't even here.
23:10See?
23:11I needed you.
23:13So we need a nut, a washer, and a bolt.
23:17Yeah, she had bought all new kind of parts and pieces.
23:22Yep.
23:23Nice.
23:24Now we're going to turn it sideways.
23:26Oh, yeah.
23:27It's going to work?
23:28Yep.
23:29No, no.
23:30Okay.
23:33So, hopefully that.
23:36These brackets get bent by any chance.
23:39Let me see.
23:40Everything was there, minus a few different pieces to make it work and work properly.
23:44Can we just use the old brackets?
23:46Yeah, we're going to use the old hardware.
23:48Okay.
23:49But, yeah, a little bit of ingenuity.
23:52Okay.
23:54Got it.
23:55Okay.
23:58Spacers.
23:59Put a washer on each side.
24:01And got the cart working.
24:03Here's your wheel.
24:04You're there.
24:05Caught a pin.
24:05You're going to pinch those together.
24:06Drive them both in.
24:08Yeah.
24:09Steady, Eddie.
24:10Okay.
24:10Once you get it started, it should go.
24:12Yep.
24:12There you go.
24:15Nice job.
24:16Way to go, Jedi.
24:18Yeah, you know, Jedi got clever and was able to get the axle and wheels on.
24:24There.
24:25And I wanted to do something to the cart to kind of make it stand out, you know, a little
24:29bit unique.
24:30See, Jedi?
24:31You see it.
24:31So I painted AC on it for Caprera.
24:34Done.
24:35Let's see if we like it.
24:38There you go.
24:40Oh, yeah.
24:41I like it just like that.
24:41I mean, it's for beach toys, for firewood, for picnic baskets.
24:45We use ours.
24:46Every single time we come out to camp, we use it.
24:48So they're going to really appreciate it.
24:50Cool.
24:50Thanks for your help.
24:51Yep.
24:51Absolutely.
24:52Oh, I will see you at Caprera.
25:07Do you have screws?
25:08Yep.
25:08I got bigger screws, too.
25:09Those are for the treads.
25:10Okay.
25:11So it's final touches day at the Caprera camp.
25:14Good morning.
25:15How's it going today?
25:16Good.
25:18Place looks great.
25:24There was an old set of steps going off before the camp up in this little overlook.
25:31So we got the materials to do that.
25:33So we'll replace those.
25:34We'll clean that area up, and we'll be good to go.
25:44So everything is looking good at the prayer camp.
25:47Most of the work's done.
25:48It's ready for Ashley and her team.
25:50We had a nice screened-in porch, took and turned the old screened-in porch into a living
25:55area.
25:56Beautiful, buddy.
25:58Thank you, sir.
25:59And opened up the space into the original part of the camp.
26:03Not doing much to the kitchen or bathroom.
26:05And upstairs, we insulated, finished closing in the ceilings and the walls with pine.
26:12Got a nice private bedroom and lots of sleeping space upstairs.
26:17Wow, it looks good.
26:18Do we have anything on the list in there, Chase?
26:21Just door handles that I've got the hardware to put that in.
26:24Okay, so you're working on that.
26:26Yep.
26:26I'll start taking those stairs apart.
26:29Yep.
26:30And then I'll start milling up the other ones.
26:31Yeah.
26:32We're just going to clean up that area.
26:33Okay.
26:34Oh, I don't have a truck here.
26:37Oh, it's chiseled, though.
26:38That'll work.
26:39Yeah, so I've got to put a door handle on the double doors entryway to the new living
26:45space.
26:45He's an outpire of the landscape.
26:49Ryan's building a set of stairs up to the lookout area for a bench.
26:55Beautiful.
26:56And it's just getting leftover materials.
26:59Getting all the trash.
27:03Getting the rest of the tools off the island, so we've got to make a few trips doing that.
27:10Taking advantage of boats going back and forth, so the cleaners got here early.
27:15Got the camp cleaned out.
27:17It really is ready for Ashley and her team.
27:21They've seen better days.
27:24Yeah, so we kind of noticed this little area over here when we first got here.
27:28And she said her and her husband like to spend some time up here, so we thought it'd be nice
27:31if just clean it up and put a little bench up there.
27:35It's going to be an awesome new set of steps, so we'll pull this out.
27:38That was tough.
27:40Pull the treads off.
27:41Easiest stairs ever.
27:43Copy the stringers.
27:44We're working, smiling on the hideout.
27:47Easy, nice finish and touch.
27:49I think I'll put it over the top.
27:53That's it.
27:55Perfect.
27:57Probably should have a railing on that side.
28:00Chase!
28:01What?
28:02Any lumber on the island?
28:04Nope.
28:07Stairs are perfect besides that.
28:09Maybe Ashley can pick some up.
28:11I'll call her.
28:12We'll see.
28:19Hey.
28:20Hey, honey.
28:20How are you?
28:21Good.
28:22I got my stairs down out here, and they're perfect, but I forgot.
28:25They need a railing.
28:26Will you please grab three two-by-four?
28:29I know they'll fit in your car.
28:31Put them in between the seats.
28:33I owe you one.
28:33You're going to save the day.
28:36I love you, too.
28:37Bye.
28:39Perfect.
28:40Ashley's in the rescue.
28:41So I got here, and everything went really easy.
28:45Typical, late in the week, jinxed ourselves.
28:47After I cleaned all that out, it was kind of a big hole, and it just didn't feel right without
28:51a railing.
28:56Where is everybody?
28:59Hello?
29:01Where are the guys?
29:04Ryan!
29:05How's it going?
29:06When my wife walked around the corner, and the sun was glistening her eyes, it's that
29:11new cart with the lowriders, the 20s on it.
29:13You could have come down and helped me.
29:17No, it was pretty cool, because Ashley not only did she save the day with those two-by-fours.
29:21It's going to take literally, what's five minutes' worth of seconds?
29:24300 seconds.
29:26She came in that new cart, and that thing was decked right out.
29:31Ashley put a little C on it.
29:32She puts the new rims and tires on it.
29:35She might be fixing eyes before she knows it.
29:39Hold me right there, Tony Danza.
29:41So Ashley came to the rescue.
29:45Called her in time.
29:46Right there.
29:58Nice job.
29:59It looks awesome.
30:01You go grab the bench, I'll finish this up.
30:03Everybody's helped you.
30:04Are my buddies here?
30:06Yeah, they're on the island somewhere.
30:07So it's one of those things, you know, like, we just gained a really cool spot for a couple
30:11hundred bucks in my time.
30:12We're just crushing it.
30:15I think when she comes here, it's going to bring back great memories.
30:17This is where she and her husband used to go and sit when they bought the property.
30:21They sat out there and admired the view.
30:24And it's going to be able to use it again.
30:26It's going to be a really positive thing in her life.
30:27Right over here, Jedi.
30:29Oh, yes.
30:31Oh, this is nice.
30:33Perfect.
30:34Look at that view.
30:35Reflect on the job well done, guys.
30:37Who do you think the MVP was on this one?
30:40Chase, let's go get him and get out of here.
30:42Where is he?
30:42Sounds like a plan.
30:43All right.
31:06Put up these pictures.
31:12So today's the day we give Linda back her cabin.
31:20I have a couple photos of Linda and her late husband that I want to put up as a tribute
31:25to him, just so when she looks around, she'll always be reminded of him.
31:32Looks good.
31:33Hi.
31:34Hi.
31:35What do you think?
31:36Looks great.
31:37Right?
31:38What a difference that porch makes.
31:40She was right.
31:41She was right.
31:42I like all the fall tones in here, too.
31:45So pretty out.
31:46Yeah, you know, it's fall.
31:47So my design team and I leaned into the fall theme.
31:51You know, the reds, oranges, yellows.
31:55They also go with the colors of the cabin, so it works out great.
32:03All right, when's she coming?
32:05Right now.
32:06Let's go meet her.
32:06Down on the dock?
32:08Down on the dock.
32:11I'm so excited to see this.
32:13I know.
32:14I can't wait to sing it.
32:15Perfect day for it.
32:17In a long 10 weeks.
32:1810 weeks too long.
32:20You might need to get ready for more stayovers, Linda.
32:23I know.
32:23I think once everyone sees the camp, they're going to be signing up.
32:26Yep.
32:26I can't wait.
32:29Hi.
32:30Hello.
32:32Nice driving.
32:34You're a professional.
32:36Doesn't get any better than that.
32:38All right.
32:40I can't wait.
32:40Oh, my gosh.
32:43That looks incredible.
32:46Wow.
32:46That is so nice.
32:47It doesn't even look like the same place.
32:49This is exactly what I wanted.
32:59I wanted.
32:59Yes.
33:00This is exactly what I wanted.
33:02Oh, my gosh.
33:03Oh, my gosh.
33:07Oh, wow.
33:09There's no stopping her.
33:12That looks incredible.
33:14Wow.
33:15That is so nice.
33:16It doesn't even look like the same place.
33:17Wait for us.
33:18Oh, my gosh.
33:20Oh, my gosh.
33:21She's excited to get up here.
33:22I love it.
33:25I love it.
33:26I really love it.
33:27The whole camp just looks whole different.
33:30Just everything.
33:31The addition.
33:34The stain.
33:37The roof.
33:43We finally made it to catch up with you.
33:46I love it.
33:47You guys outdid yourselves.
33:49It's exceeded my expectations.
33:51Yeah.
33:52So, I mean, camp was well built.
33:54It was solid, but it was definitely time for an upgrade.
33:57We ended up putting an all-new metal roof across the whole thing.
34:01Be great for the snow, great for leaves, everything.
34:04Just shed all the debris off of there.
34:06We went through and re-caulked all the logs to seal up any gaps.
34:11Sealed it all with a nice oil-based stain.
34:14It looks beautiful.
34:15Yeah.
34:15I mean, it really just came right back to life.
34:18Yeah.
34:19And you asked to convert the screened-in porch into living space,
34:23put in new windows, and add a screened-in porch on front of that.
34:27I love it.
34:29We decided to move the entry door to this side,
34:32just because, you know, it's so private over this way.
34:34And a small little roof on top of that,
34:37just to keep you covered when you're coming out the door.
34:39And, yeah, this ground deck was right there,
34:41so we figured might as well work with it.
34:42No, it's perfect.
34:43Yeah.
34:43It is.
34:44It's perfect.
34:44It's perfect.
34:45Yeah, and the one thing that I love the most about on our island is having a cart.
34:49So we found a cart, and we salvaged it and painted a sea on it just for you.
34:54But it makes coming from the dock to the camp so much easier.
34:59Oh, yeah.
34:59Just load it up.
35:00I never would have thought that.
35:01That's true, because we keep trucking things back.
35:03Yes, we do.
35:03Honestly, it's one thing we use every single time we're out there.
35:07I never would have thought to use a cart like that to get everything,
35:11because we have to make multiple trips, and now you've got everything in a cart.
35:14It's amazing.
35:15Yeah, it looks beautiful.
35:16I love it.
35:17I absolutely love it.
35:18I can't wait to see the inside.
35:19All right, then head on in.
35:20Okay.
35:21We're going to have to run after her, though.
35:23She is fast.
35:24She's fast.
35:25Oh, my gosh.
35:28Oh, my gosh.
35:30Look at this place.
35:31Oh, my gosh.
35:33This looks incredible.
35:36So nice.
35:36Look at this.
35:36This is gorgeous.
35:37This is exactly, exactly what I wanted.
35:41It's gorgeous.
35:46Oh, wow.
35:47Oh, wow.
35:48Look at that.
35:49Look at this.
35:50This is, I can't tell you.
35:52This is just unbelievable.
35:54This looks incredible.
35:56And this was the old screened in porch.
35:58This was the old screened in porch.
35:59This was the old porch.
36:00It's crazy how just putting one room out there could make it feel so much bigger.
36:04Yeah.
36:05I mean, the way they opened that up.
36:11It's bright.
36:12It's cheery.
36:13You walk in there, and it's just open, and it's just amazing.
36:17Yeah, so before, it was a single door right here.
36:20Right.
36:20It had windows, and it took a lot of work to get it pulled apart, but it does.
36:24It just opens it up.
36:25You know, you were asking for a living space.
36:27I was part of the camp, and yeah.
36:29Yeah, and then we do have a picture wall behind you.
36:31Oh, yeah.
36:31Behind us.
36:32All the pictures.
36:33All the photos, yeah.
36:34You and your husband.
36:34That's my husband.
36:35Yes.
36:35So, yeah, that was also in college.
36:38And that was us up north fishing.
36:40Such great pictures.
36:41Yeah.
36:42Yeah, he would absolutely love this.
36:44He would approve?
36:45Yes, absolutely.
36:46Yeah, he would approve.
36:47He would be blown away by this.
36:50It's overwhelming, because, you know, he would have loved to have seen this camp.
36:53I mean, he would be blown away, and it breaks my heart that he's not here to see it, but
36:57I know he's looking down.
37:04Look at this place.
37:05Oh, my gosh.
37:07Wow.
37:08Now you've got to cook us dinner.
37:09Yeah.
37:11Yeah.
37:12Bathroom really didn't change much.
37:15Oh, yeah, you get rid of the piano.

38:04up from the critters.

38:37And he said, why did they take the bench?
38:39This is what happened.
