00:00Today, I'm going to describe a very interesting surprise that you might encounter when you go to
00:05vote in California. I went on to the LA County voting website to fill out my sample ballot.
00:10This is a very useful service they provide that allows you to fill out your choices and bring
00:14them to the polling place and put them into the machine and vote very quickly. I got to the point
00:19where you vote for governor and I was shocked to see Representative Eric Swalwell's name at the top
00:25of the list of candidates. Now Swalwell, you probably know, dropped out of the race several
00:30weeks ago over allegations of sexual misconduct. But because the final ballots were set several
00:36weeks before that, he could not technically drop out of the race. He is still in the running
00:41technically. What effect is that going to have on the final result? Well, it could mean that a small
00:47percentage of voters still vote for Eric Swalwell, either because they just never heard the news or
00:53because he's at the top of the ballot or as a protest vote against all the other candidates.
00:57Who knows? But Eric Swalwell is probably going to get some residual number of votes that might have
01:01gone to other candidates. And given the tight margin among all of these candidates for governor,
01:07that could prove decisive in the end. So even though Eric Swalwell has been out of the race for weeks
01:12and disgraced and even out of Congress, he still could play a decisive role in the race for California
01:18governor.
