A 14-year-old student from California claimed victory at the 2026 Scripps National Spelling Bee after an intense three-day competition in Washington, DC. Shrey Parikh outperformed 247 contestants from across the United States to win the prestigious title and a cash prize of $52,000. In the final round, contestants were challenged to spell as many words as possible within 90 seconds. Shrey secured the championship by correctly spelling 32 words, including the final winning word, “cashaw.” Despite appearing calm on stage, he later admitted feeling nervous during the contest but trusted his instincts to achieve the memorable victory.
