New figures have revealed Britain's birth rate has fallen to its lowest level in more than 30 years. Do you see having children as affordable or even achievable in modern Britain, and what are the factors behind the decline?

00:05like, stable in your own life as well before you go to do things like that.
00:09So that might be possibly why people aren't starting a family, like, right yet, right now.
00:14There's more people going to university. So there's that student debt, which carries on into a relationship.
00:21Can you actually afford to have a child? Families are split up all over the place, actually, these days.
00:31So most people don't live within that big family group that you did 50, 60 years ago.
00:38It goes down to the cost of living crisis and the lack of support from the government.
00:44Again, the government has recently discussed on reintroducing benefits for more than two children.
00:51I'm not saying this is, you know, an excellent idea.
00:54However, there could be other initiatives to support, you know, new parents.
01:01If you have a family, you expect you to do more, you expect you to be there more, sacrifice work.
01:08I see a lot of women now, they're pushing, there's a push more on, like, being independent.
01:14It's not a bad thing, it's more, like, it's a culture change.
01:18People also might think, well, the state of the country, do I really, I think some people might be thinking,
01:25do I really want to bring a child into this current world?
