28 May - National morning forecast presented by Honor Criswick.
Transcript
00:00Hello there, good morning. More heat is on its way today, particularly in areas where
00:05yesterday it actually felt that little bit cooler. Also fairly warm last night, but once
00:10again not quite as warm as the night previous. So a slightly fresher start out there this
00:15morning. And there will be some showers, particularly across northern areas as they drift their
00:20way northeastwards, but these should be mostly isolated and fading away fairly quickly. And
00:25across the country, particularly this morning, there'll be plenty of sunshine out there,
00:29but eventually into this afternoon, we'll see a build of cloud push in from the west
00:33and southwest. This could actually turn quite low around coastal areas of Wales and southwest
00:38England, so a little bit disappointing in coastal areas here. Elsewhere, it's mostly high cloud,
00:43though we can't rule out some showers into the afternoon, which could turn heavy, possibly
00:48thundery, similar to what they have done over the last couple of days, particularly across
00:51southeast England, a risk of showers here. But once again, it is going to be a very hot
00:57day, the sixth consecutive day, actually, that we've pushed past 30 degrees Celsius. High as this
01:03time, once again, across parts of southeast England, where we could see highs of 32 degrees
01:07Celsius. So not quite as hot as recent days, but nevertheless, it is still going to be very warm
01:12out there. And if I draw your attention to eastern areas, this is where it was a little bit
01:15cooler yesterday, once again, pushing back into the low 20s. So another warm day on offer here.
01:21And actually, temperatures widely across Scotland, northern parts of England, parts of the east as
01:26well, are going to be much warmer than they were yesterday. But actually, western areas of Wales,
01:31parts of the south and southwest England, feeling that bit cooler. But nevertheless, in the sunshine,
01:36it is still certainly going to be a warm one. Now, some showers could linger into this evening if we
01:43do see some develop this afternoon, fading away, drifting off into the North Sea, and eventually
01:48turning more unsettled from the west across Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland, a band of
01:52heavy showers moving across here. But actually, once again, across the bulk of England and Wales,
01:57it's another dry night, a mix of cloud and also some clearer skies. And another warm one, actually,
02:03temperatures widely across England and Wales, not dropping much past 15 to 18 degrees Celsius. So
02:09that could lead to an uncomfortable night's sleep. Now, to finish off the week, there's a bit of a change
02:15across Scotland, actually. More showers around, feeling that bit cooler, that bit fresher. Across
02:20Northern Ireland, they could catch some of the showers first thing in the morning before eventually
02:23brightening up into the afternoon. But once again, similarly, there's going to be plenty of dry
02:28weather, lots of sunshine, a chance of some occasional showers across the southeast. But for the bulk of
02:33us, it's a dry, settled end to the week. And take a look at those temperatures. Still very warm out
02:38there
02:39in the sunshine. Highs reaching around 27 degrees. There were chance some isolated spots across
02:44central southeast England could push up into the even higher 20s, 28, 29 degrees Celsius.
02:51But we are eventually seeing those temperatures settle down, though it will still feel very warm
02:55in the sunshine. And that is the theme as we progress into the weekend. Things will eventually
03:01start to cool down. But alongside that, it does mean things are going to turn that bit more unsettled.
03:06We see a bit more of a westerly flow develop. So we pick up some rain, some showers in from
03:11the
03:11Atlantic. So as things cool down, we're also going to see a bit more of an unsettled picture. But
03:16nevertheless, there'll still be plenty of bright weather, plenty of sunshine. And of course, as
03:20always, for more details, you can subscribe to our YouTube channel. Bye-bye.
