00:01how can you not be romantic about eight runs five in the first inning that's a five i don't know
00:07where this is something something's off today we're off today just a little off a little bit
00:13off just holding in a cough there i don't think you heard the intro oh i heard the intro uh
00:19i was
00:19still he was still blown away by reetma i was still blown away yeah reetma came in here worst
00:24take nominee said force come is a horrible movie uh so friday 9 a.m we'll throw that into the
00:30mix
00:30you get an eight spot in the first inning the day after you get no hit it is as baseball
00:37as baseball
00:38gets because there is no explanation for just about anything this team does offensively um and
00:44you know scoring eight runs in an inning does not happen often for any team yesterday was blowout
00:48tuesday i think it was seven games decided by five runs or more they had just 17 first inning runs
00:55all year entering last night eight first inning runs over their last 22 games and then you look at what
01:03they were giving up on the mound had a 702 era in the first inning of games this season second
01:10worst
01:10in baseball like mckenzie gore by far is their best first inning pitcher with a 360 era
01:18and a few games ago the stat was 41 17 is what they had been outscored in the first inning
01:26and
01:27then boom you put up eight yesterday and get the w over houston and man houston we saw this stat
01:35a
01:35couple of weeks ago where like ranger opponents are the ones that are hitting the longest home runs
01:40here by a lot there were yordan hit one 449 he also hit one 422 um smith hit one 457
01:53and peña hit one
01:54454 i mean these are moonshots moonshot home runs that that wasn't allowed here uh well i mean if you
02:02uh
02:02it wasn't possible if you read the little ai bot that was tweeting at us yesterday oh my god i
02:07that is
02:08the i don't think it's actually i think it's a total just nerd who doesn't know how to think for
02:12themselves but the like would we i'm sharing data from three years about their office and he goes
02:18this is a little misleading it's like no it's a what why i used to work home splits what he
02:23said i used
02:23to work for the rangers and analytics and i was a baseball player i want to get i want to
02:27actually get
02:27the account the official account of this tool yeah anybody can say that they're what is it district
02:33ai district ai district ai there you go um but i think it's chris young's burner they tried they
02:40tried to give it away they this thing got cut to uh you know a three then nine four then
02:45nine five
02:46then nine six and then you get you know a bunch of runners on in that eighth inning lats has
02:50to come
02:50in with two outs and get out of the jam and then you find a way to get the 10
02:547 victory over the
02:57ash because they had what like 15 in a row set down at one point like from like the third
03:01inning on
03:02they weren't getting on base what are you making a lighter because we just had that conversation
03:06last week and i had felt pretty solid about him you know i had felt solid about him i you
03:12know
03:12six innings four earned four strikeouts three walks you know that's not that's not great no by any
03:18stretch uh yeah he's he's still figuring it out i i don't know what his ceiling is like i if
03:25you were
03:26to ask me right now what is a ceiling i don't think it's um i i would be surprised if
03:31he's a top
03:32two guy on a playoff rotation at any point in his career at this point i could see him being
03:36a
03:36three you know or four i don't know that i see him being if he's your number two you're probably
03:44in
03:44the playoffs yeah right now you're probably at a disadvantage in the postseason uh i'd like
03:49i've liked chris young's interviews i've been going to chris young a little bit especially
03:54yesterday at nine but i i do like chris young's interviews on gbag in terms of being blunt being
04:01forthright being honest taking some accountability so let's see what he said yesterday weekly visit
04:08with the gbag nation on your home for rangers baseball are the injuries to wyatt and seager
04:14the biggest reason why the offense has struggled look i i genuinely appreciate you prefacing the
04:21question with the injuries and there is no doubt you take the two best players out of any lineup in
04:27the big leagues their team is going to suffer and i can't deny that it hasn't had an impact on
04:32our
04:32group what i will say is we have very good major league players and players that are coveted by other
04:37teams players that had opportunities as free agents to sign with other teams players who we've been asked
04:44about by other teams and trades we have very good major league players and and so our expectation
04:49is that we are able to get the best out of our major league players and that they live up
04:54to their
04:54potential and you know when when the guys don't do that it's on all of us collectively to figure out
04:59why to help them solve for that to give them answers to find ways to help them perform at the
05:05best of their ability and then it's also on the players to go out and get the job done and
05:10so we're
05:10all in this you know together and i do say this um with confidence that i i do believe in
05:16our
05:16players i really do i believe we've got a great group of guys i believe we've got a group that
05:21wants to win um they are pressing there's no doubt about it there's no doubt that missing cory and
05:26wyatt has put added pressure on these guys some of them are looking up the scoreboard seeing their
05:31respective numbers and realizing they're not having the seasons that they had hoped yet and it adds
05:37pressure to what they're doing but that doesn't matter in competition what matters is finding a way to get
05:43the job done uh one pitch at a time and and that's what we have to get back to as
05:48a unit we have to
05:49go up there with a collective approach that we are going to focus on beating the other team's pitcher
05:55in that moment and everything else is irrelevant and and um you know i believe this group is capable i
06:01believe they're very good major league players but uh they have to get the job done and we have to
06:06help
06:06you know prepare them for that and put them in the best positions and succeed oh man i thought we
06:12were
06:13off to a good start i thought he was starting that to say i appreciate you giving me the softball
06:18and the out with the injuries but they're not getting it done instead he's launching into other
06:26teams being interested and making phone calls uh on offensive player tell me who rip them off go ahead
06:34it's probably seager and and and and what exactly are they offering
06:40outside of why and seager who has generated a phone call yeah maybe give me any names maybe young
06:47maybe if they've been like hey you guys want to yeah he started off hot we'll add a bat
06:51like you guys we'll take a gamble on him i was assuming like before the season oh before the season
06:56i
06:56thought he was talking about like within the season maybe you know what he you know what he's doing
07:00there it it's not me the roster eye belts is fine yeah we're not getting the most out of them
07:07who's responsible for getting he's saying all collectively really well i don't think anybody
07:11generally thinks of it's the general manager's responsibility to get the most out of people
07:14it's like when jerry comes on here and doesn't talk about defensive personnel fine it's just it's
07:21communication that's it it's communication and then eventually it turned into coaching it's on the
07:26players to do this it's on all of us not legitimately because nobody actually thinks the general manager
07:31is getting things out of place it's on all of us to get the most out of these players that
07:34sounds
07:35like passing the buck to me do they have a developmental problem like they are they're not
07:40developing right you know like has josh young developed and right here is getting he's doing
07:45all right and right now everything i've heard in terms of possible trades and what you could give up
07:49is they're not they're not good in that area they don't have a ton of assets no they don't and
07:55what
07:56little ones they have they gave up for gore now i don't know what you're going to be able to
07:59use
07:59those guys to get yeah at the deadline because none of those guys are like top 50 players or
08:03anything but uh it's you know developmentally carter hasn't developed the way they hoped
08:08why it has his injury issues um and i you know and you can make a case that he hasn't
08:13developed the
08:13way they hoped young obviously is having a good year but prior to that he hasn't developed the way
08:19they hoped you didn't highlight foskey right now yeah you have to ask when that sort of thing
08:25happens it's it's a question of is it developmental or is it evaluation like are you not evaluating
08:32talented players or are you failing to develop that so he's obviously cooled in the last couple
08:38years but it was looking like developmental when cole reagan's all of a sudden goes to the royals and
08:42he's people said he's left-handed to grom that's what he kind of reminds me of he's added five miles
08:47an hour to his face like when you see guys go elsewhere and perform that's when you start going okay
08:51that's developmental it may just be as simple as they don't evaluate talent very well and they're
08:55like evaluating guys who are not good enough diamond calves here sean and rj 105 to the fan
08:59are there any changes that need to be made chris young after that road trip well we've met all
09:06day on some of the answers and the road trip is what it is i mean we've looked at the
09:09schedule we've
09:10you know we made i'm not going to say excuses about the schedule to start the year when it was
09:14a rough
09:14schedule but this was you know in the back of my mind this is a little bit of a fear
09:18of mine that we
09:19were going to hit this patch in the schedule that we should start winning games and and similar i think
09:24it
09:24was last year maybe the year before where something similar happened and we didn't we didn't really
09:28take advantage of the schedule at that point and you can say what you want about injuries but i still
09:33believe that we are capable of going out and playing better than we've played and so here we are you
09:39know
09:39the last um you know five six games um you know falling back in the standings against teams that we
09:46feel like we should be able to compete with and beat uh that's not a great feeling for the group
09:50so we
09:51need to we need to turn it on we need to get it going we need to um start playing
09:55better baseball
09:55and dig ourselves out of this hole um you know the the i guess the positive side is that the
10:01american
10:01league is wide open uh the division is wide open but i also think that we can't let that cloud
10:06our
10:07judgment too much on what this team is capable of accomplishing without actually seeing it at some
10:12point so we need to see the team start playing better here and i believe they will you know when
10:17we
10:17get cory and wyatt back it will have an immense impact on the entire unit i do believe with our
10:23pitching that we will have a stretch where we can run off you know seven eight nine wins in a
10:27row um
10:28but you know i can say that um till i'm blue in the face at some point we've got to
10:33go get that done
10:34and um and we have not to this point in the season um most most baseball teams will struggle with
10:42the
10:42good teams you know they're not in nobody's playing 600 ball against teams with winning records i mean
10:48maybe like you get a stretch where you do but you know throughout the course of the year it's not
10:50going to happen but you have like every playoff team dominates bad teams that's how you do it go
10:57look at all the division winners year after year you know what do they all do they're all like
11:0413 and 2 against the last place team in their division
11:08they just dominate the bad teams and you go get swept by the angels and then you get no hit
11:14and you struggle with colorado you get lucky in the last game you got to beat bad teams if you
11:20don't
11:20beat the bad teams you're never going to make the playoffs because you're not you're not going to
11:22be and nobody is going to be able to beat enough good teams just to stay in a 600 winning
11:27percentage
11:27or even a 570 and i understand he's like you know as soon as we get seager and wyatt back
11:32that's
11:33going to help immensely all right well this season their ops's are 638 and 636 even when they were in
11:38there you were not hitting the baseball you were not you were not playing well offensively last year
11:42with them in there you were not playing well offensively it's this is a years-long issue
11:47the athletic says that they are the 13th best team in baseball right now what yeah the athletic has them
11:53ranked number 13 in their power who wrote that uh this is a conglomeration of grant brisby chad
12:02jennings and levi weaver okay all right so 13 great job by the boys and the write-up is well
12:08it
12:08says in the next two months they're looking for a direction for 27 28 and 29 if they played in
12:14the
12:14central they'd be a last place team in the nl central here they are a couple of games back
12:18so cory and wyatt and smith and young are healthy and seager and carter and jansen you know get those
12:25batting averages above 200 and to grom stop starts you know stops leading the al in home runs allowed
12:30you know maybe they'll be able to pick things up what it says here at the end i think is
12:34the most
12:35important is they got five weeks to figure out are you going to be are you going to trade and
12:42make
12:42a major trade for a big bat or are you going to sell and when they say sell they don't
12:47mean
12:48hey here's evan carter no no they mean here's cory seager here's josh young here's to grom here's
12:54valdy here's whoever i mean anybody's on the table and you restock and you don't plan for 2027
13:02you plan for 2029 and listen it's already miserable watching this baseball team
13:10at least if you sell you could be miserable watching tomorrow there there reaches a point where
13:19you trade mark to share or you do it like where you it doesn't it doesn't matter you don't hold
13:23on to
13:24just being kind of you know middling in the in the name of just hey we got to keep some
13:29relevancy
13:30here they've got to rebuild their farm system their farm system like you go look at it there's nobody
13:34knocking on the door there's not one legitimate like future consistent starter that you feel like
13:40is right on the doorstep of the major leagues they are depleted there and their major league roster is
13:44not good enough it's old it's an old group of players and they need they need a reset they need
13:49to
13:49kind of wash things out diamond calves
