00:15for a team that was down to nothing what what what they what they bring they didn't have enough
00:22energy man they didn't have enough energy physically or mentally and emotionally after
00:26going those two game sevens you know I'm gonna give them a little bit of grace and you meet that
00:31with a combo of a team that's better than you like significantly better than you that's the outcome
00:40you get and you know I've been giving calves for Cleveland fans it's a rough years because my
00:45expectations are higher for them and I expected them to be better during the regular season but
00:50they surprised me in playoffs which you know the way they're playing regular season I wasn't sure
00:54they're gonna make it to the finals but you gotta look at the positives the finals it's a good
00:59thing you know that's better than last year uh do we double down on this I don't know but they
01:05had
01:06a great season I thought they would get at least one they had the one to steal in New York
01:10they let
01:11that one slip and you know they never really got a chance to recover from it so all in all
01:16bigger
01:17picture was a good season just a rough rough end to it yeah Danny what would your body feel like

01:23you played I'm not making excuses I just I mean the NBA is hard enough already right but then you
01:28play what they play 18 game seven seven 14 18 games in 36 days what would your body feel like
01:37after
01:37that I mean right now my older self my body would not make it my younger self I don't know
01:45I mean
01:45I've been a part of a game seven in the first round and then that's when we won it we
01:51didn't go seven
01:51after that we did five and I think five we did a couple gentlemen sweeps so yeah every other day
01:57schedule not easy so whether old or young so I could imagine what their bodies feel like in their
02:03minds for those those guys that have never done it or been there that was the hardest part for me
02:08my
02:08first run second run to the finals the mental capacity and the mental stamina of staying locked
02:15and not having brain farts when you're in the finals well said Danny I think everybody who knows
02:23anything about basketball can admit Cavaliers are a really good team they're nice group good players
02:29great season man final four yeah I mean they did a lot of really good things but to get to
02:35the next step
02:35they might have to make some really serious decisions and some things to change it up how drastic
02:42could the changes be how drastic should they be uh they can be very drastic and they should be
02:49somewhere in the middle I guess but change does need to happen I think the only two guys that are
02:55untouchable for me are Evan Mobley and Donovan Mitchell um I like what Shrews did I would like to keep
03:00him Sam Merrill he's another good role player piece but everybody else I mean you know you move try to
03:07get
03:07some young athleticism from three and d guys to match with the Knicks and now you have to match
03:12your roster to beat the New York Knicks now and OKC and the San Antonio Spurs like those three teams
03:17are the top of the heat and they have a lot of depth they have championship DNA they have winning
03:23organizations so if you want to be in that conversation you better put together a roster
03:28that's good enough what do you think of the coaching for the Cavaliers there's a lot of people
03:33criticizing what he said after game three about analytically we won two of these guys I'm like
03:37oh bro don't go down that road bad news yeah he's getting crushed his responses his responses weren't the
03:44greatest I think the way he said it I understand what he was saying I don't think the coaching was
03:48poor but the exception of game one game one is where you know they definitely missed the opportunity to
03:53call timeout and make adjustments outside of that so they were just a lesser team so it was hard for
03:58me
03:58great coaching when I didn't expect much of this the series to begin with even at their best I
04:03thought it'd be a five six game series and the way Knicks have been playing not only the better team
04:08but they're playing at like a high level so they remind me a lot of you know 2017 Warriors 2014

04:35Danny if Donovan Mitchell is the guy here moving forward and let's assume that he is and you're
04:39going to give him the big extension and it's going to cost you like 70 million a year what do
04:44you put
04:44around him and how do you how do you make sure he shines without being the guy that everything falls

04:54um you gotta I guess use the Jalen Brunson situation right you put around him a big and
04:59Evan Mobley which Evan Mobley can be like cat you put around some three and d guys like Michelle
05:05Bridges OG and an OB which is hard to find because they're expensive and they're just I'm gonna say
05:10one of a kind but they're not easily found you know they're rare but and Josh Hart that's that's a
05:16that's a formula right and some some bench guys that can show up but have some you know experience
05:22Shannon's have an unbelievable run I mean even seeing his best years you don't see a guy missed
05:29one one shot from the three-point line 11 or 12 threes in the series that was unbelievable 12
05:34you know 12 or 13 um so but that's the formula right and I don't know if Don needs to
05:42take a cut
05:42like Jalen Brunson did because that's a huge thing for the Knicks but something needs to happen
05:47where you got to find pieces defensively and offensively to make the game easier for him
05:52what kind of point guard you put around him is James Harden the right fit
05:57I don't know I think James is a great player I do too but playoff wise you know first and

06:03first order of business for me is LeBron James is a pre-agent this summer do we honor him
06:10and give him his farewell I think he deserves it so we have the discussion with him first
06:15see what he wants to do LeBron James wants to be a cavalier in his last season we do that
06:20and then
06:20at that point I don't know if you keep James right they're the same style of play right so
06:27decisions to be made and then after that is do we keep James after that what do we do with

06:32if Bron doesn't come here is he going to be the guy that helps us get over the hump and
06:36win
06:37or do we move forward and use that money that comes up the books to get somebody else younger more
06:44athletic defensive what are your thoughts on what are your thoughts on LeBron James next move then
06:53um I think he's going to go where he feels respected
07:00you know this town this is a very good strong option yeah but definitely be highly respected
07:05here and you know him being respected as he's still I know he's older but he's still playing
07:11at the peak of a guy that's in the you know 40 50 million dollar range if not higher
07:17so I know LA wants to give him a discount I don't know if they'll give him that much of
07:21a discount you
07:22know to do that so do you think anybody would give LeBron that kind of money right now
07:26I think yeah 40 million dollars I mean I could see somebody getting 40 million dollars I could
07:31see Cleveland doing it do you let James do you have James up the book I think James is set
07:35to
07:35make 40 million close to it yeah um so that's one contract right there are you buying a ticket
07:42for LeBron 3.0 in Cleveland I think I think everybody's buying the ticket for LeBron James
07:47last year um hard not to isn't it Danny I mean he could play another two three years for all
07:54I know
07:54he keeps proving me wrong but if we're assuming this is his last year everybody's coming to buy
07:58that ticket people flying in all over the place to buy a ticket or see him in every arena he's
08:02in
08:04and Danny if anybody needs proof all they need to do is what take a look at what he did
08:08in the
08:08first round of the playoffs without Luca he was great he's great it's interesting Danny Green joining
08:15us um is would you pay Donovan 70 million for five years I mean he's showing to be worth it
08:27he's very good without question who can you find to replace him that's better that's it or do you
08:35just start over yeah that's that's and Danny I wonder I wonder if they're going to make that decision
08:39what what do you do do you pay him and build with him or do you try and you know
08:43make a haul and get
08:44all kinds of pieces and maybe take a step back for a year or two I'm not a GM hard
08:52decision uh to make
08:53but I would I would try to go with it I think you have a good foundation with him as
08:57Mobley
08:58I would try to see if I can make it work for the next two years or so two or
09:03three years and try
09:04and see if we get some pieces and then if it doesn't work after that then you start over
09:07because Don will be older at that point then it's like all right now we got to draft another superstar
09:11or find something uh elsewhere Danny let me go back to that retirement tour thing you were
09:17you had you had to have been San Antonio when Kobe was last year right yes I was so what
09:23was
09:23that like do you remember Kobe's last game against you guys I do and we don't let anybody take over
09:30our building but the Lakers fans were in that building that night the Kobe fans were in that
09:35building that night every time he scored it was in roar it was absurd eruptions in our building every
09:44time he scored the basketball I'm like what the hell is going on where are we I thought we were
09:47in
09:47LA for a second so yeah it was and he also was in a different mode where he was more
09:53embracing
09:54of other players and because first he didn't talk to people you know he's competitive after the game he
09:59didn't talk during the game but after the game you know showed love embraced us it was cool man
10:04it was very cool to see and to be a part of and to witness that yeah so I think
10:10now when you're on
10:11the other side of it can't you appreciate that a little bit more I think when you look at you
10:16know
10:16Kobe's career and I don't know how they'll compare that with LeBron but the line that always got me
10:20about Kobe was he did he wanted to beat you so bad that you never wanted to play basketball again
10:26and I
10:26I just I was admired that philosophy in sports because there are so few players can actually do that you
10:33know yeah and still keep that going while you played against these guys your whole life career
10:38AU you know the model of your friends Olympic summer league to not be friends when that ball goes up
10:45not an easy task Danny Evan Mobley turns 25 this summer I I really like Evan as a player I
10:54think
10:54he's outstanding his numbers since he's come into the league have been remarkably consistent
11:00does that show a lack of growth or where do you think his ceiling actually is and if it's higher
11:07than what he has shown through five years how do they get to that I think it's more mental with
11:12him
11:12and I think his potential will show more uh given the right system with age maturity he's just a young
11:21guy so used to taking a bad seat to guys and not recognizing that it's his team you know like
11:28and it might make or take the move of a James Harden not being there you know him deferring to
11:35Donovan deferring to James like it's hard to be that guy you project him or want him to be when
11:42he's
11:42constantly taking a back seat but I think he has the potential I think he has all the tools his
11:47development showed last year so he can take the steps it's just a matter of doing it and being put
11:53in the right position to do it can you can he be the number one or 1a option in an
12:00offense Danny in
12:01your in your mind I think so I think so he's proven to me this postseason he really especially in
12:07phases
12:07he's he's set up he knocked down shots he started stretching three more shooting more consistently he
12:12can be demonstrative on the defense and he can dictate a game on both sides of the floor which is
12:18not
12:18easy to do so I think he has the tools to do so like he can be there he can
12:23be your normal too
12:27Danny hey if there and I'm not saying that Kenny's I mean we're just got our eyes open on it
12:32but
12:32is there a hot young coach that you see that might be an assistant or somebody who's
12:36sitting out that might be out right now Jason Kidd's name keeps flying around here
12:40that you think would be a good coach next there whether it's in Cleveland or somewhere else
12:45because I don't want you to I'm not looking for you to throw anybody I'm just is there a hot
12:48assistant right now that you say this guy's going to be a winner wherever he goes um there's nobody
12:54that comes to mind okay so the new young guys I haven't been able to watch you know I just
12:58know
12:58about the guys that are older that have been recycled I'm happy for Taylor Jenkins he can turn it
13:02around yeah I know Jamal Moseley got turned around very quickly Jay Kidd I'm sure he'll get another
13:07one quickly Tibbs is still out there um I don't know he's not he's not young no I don't know
13:13if there's a
13:14young coach out there so I'd have to do some some research but you know you can't find a Jordan
13:20I like I didn't know who that was until he got to Phoenix sure until he's proven himself so you
13:24know I guess it's hard to find those guys like oh we have faith in him and we know he
13:28can do the
13:29job unless you have some inside scoop on him like Matt Ishbia did good call Danny when you played for
13:37the Cavaliers your rookie year Mike Brown was the head coach and Chris Gent was on the staff
13:41yes how is Mike grown and boy does Chris run an offense that probably is going to get him a
13:47head
13:47coaching job yeah they're great man I love Mikey you know they had that thing circulating that he has
13:53the longest tenured gap between finals like we forget he was in the finals multiple times with
13:57Golden State as an assistant just because he wasn't there as a head coach doesn't mean he wasn't in the
14:02finals so he knows what it takes to get there he knows what it looks like and you can see
14:07they're
14:07embodying that mindset of his into that that culture there in New York so I love what he's
14:14doing I'm happy for him he'll do this in year one because a lot of expectations a lot of pressure
14:19as
14:19well um and Christian said that he's great too man I know he gave me talking a little trash to
14:25me
14:25the other day sounds fucking bad on the Knicks I was like man half the things I said I don't
14:30remember
14:30what I said in Cleveland fans you guys are so rough on us I'm like I just got to be
14:33honest man I just got
14:34to tell and I'm not rough on you I try to give you guys a great benefit of doubt I'm
14:38actually
14:38somewhat biased for the most point for the most part but uh yeah Jet has done an amazing job so
14:44as Mike Brown over there in New York well what you say is why we love having you with us
