00:01What is happening to me?
00:08There's been a whole bunch of new details dropping this week about Spider-Man Brand
00:12New Day, and honestly, it feels like we finally have a much clearer picture of what this movie
00:17is actually trying to do.
00:19A lot of this comes from an exclusive interview with director Destin Daniel Cretton, along
00:24with those first three pages of the script that were released earlier.
00:28And when you put all of that together, it starts to connect in a really interesting
00:32way, because we're not just guessing based on trailers, we actually understand the direction
00:37of the story, the themes, and even some deeper character choices.
00:41So let's just break everything down step by step, because there's a lot going on here,
00:45and even though some of it lines up with what we expected, there are also some surprises
00:49mixed in.
00:51First off, the biggest thing to understand is that this movie is really focused on Peter
00:56Parker's problems like a whole bunch of them.
00:58After everything that happened in Spider-Man No Way Home, it was kind of obvious that his
01:03next story would lean heavily into loneliness, because he literally erased himself from everyone's
01:08memory.
01:09But even though fans expected that, it sounds like the movie is going even deeper into it
01:14than most people thought.
01:15Cretton made it pretty clear that Peter is dealing with real grown-up issues now, both personally
01:21and professionally, and the key part is that he's handling all of it completely on his own.
01:26That's a big shift, because for most of his journey in the MCU, he's always had someone,
01:31whether it was friends like Ned Leeds and MJ, or mentors like Tony Stark.
01:36But now, all of that is gone, so he's forced to figure things out by himself, and that changes
01:42everything.
01:43Because of that, the movie's core theme revolves around isolation.
01:47It's not just that Peter is alone, it's that he's trying to live that way on purpose,
01:51even though it's clearly not healthy.
01:54Cretton described him as being completely disconnected, which is kind of wild when you
01:58think about it, because he's living in New York City, one of the most crowded places in
02:02the world.
02:03But even though he's surrounded by people, he has no real connections anymore, and that
02:07contrast is a big part of the story.
02:10Now, one of the coolest details we got is about how the movie actually begins.
02:14The intro is going to visually show Peter being erased from people's memories, and it's
02:19being compared to how things worked in Back to the Future.
02:23Imagine moments from his life with Ned, MJ, and Aunt May, but with him slowly disappearing
02:28from those memories.
02:29That's such a powerful way to open the film, because it doesn't just tell us what happened,
02:34it shows us the emotional impact of it.
02:37And it also gives us a chance to see what the world looks like without Peter in it.
02:41Like how do Ned and MJ remember their past now?
02:44What moments changed?
02:46That kind of perspective is something we didn't get at the end of No Way Home, so it's going
02:50to be really interesting to see how they handle it here.
02:53Then we move into the actual opening scene, which has now been confirmed through the script
02:58pages.
02:59It starts with Peter reading that letter he wrote to MJ, the one he never gave her.
03:04And while he's reading it, we see him sitting alone in his apartment, working on his gear.
03:09But even though he's trying to focus on being Spider-Man, he keeps getting reminded of the
03:14people he lost.
03:15There are small details everywhere, like a Lego figure from Ned, a reminder to bring flowers
03:20to Aunt May's grave, and the coffee cup MJ gave him.
03:23These little things hit hard because they show how much of his life is still tied to
03:28them, even though they don't remember him at all.
03:31Then there's a moment where he watches a video of Ned and MJ living their lives at MIT,
03:36and it's kind of bittersweet.
03:38They seem happy, moving forward, and Peter just watches from a distance.
03:43He smiles, but you can tell it hurts, because he's not part of that world anymore.
03:48After that, the scene shifts into full Spider-Man mode.
03:51He's perched high above the city, upside down, and then he jumps into action to respond to
03:57some emergency.
03:58That's where the opening sequence transitions into a montage, which is something we already
04:03saw bits of in the trailer.
04:05But what's interesting is that Marvel is still hiding a lot, because even though we've
04:10seen pieces of this, we clearly haven't seen the bigger picture yet.
04:14Another major detail is the timeline.
04:16The main story of the movie actually takes place about four years after No Way Home, but
04:23the opening scene happens just nine months after that film's ending.
04:27So there's a pretty big time jump in between, and it looks like the montage is going to cover
04:32those missing years.
04:33That's important, because it means everything Peter is feeling early on, his loneliness.
04:38His struggles are only going to get worse over time.
04:41By the time we reach the main part of the story, he's probably in a much darker place
04:46mentally and emotionally.
04:48And that connects directly to another big reveal.
04:51Peter is going through some kind of physical transformation.
04:54The trailer already hinted at this, showing things like his senses going out of control,
04:59him passing out, and even organic webbing.
05:03But now we know that it starts very early, with something as simple as a sharp headache.
05:08That headache is basically the first sign that something is wrong, and the script even points
05:13out that his unhealthy, isolated lifestyle is part of the problem.
05:17So it's not just a random mutation, it's tied to what he's going through emotionally as well.
05:22And Cretton hinted that this isolation is going to have unexpected consequences, which makes
05:29it clear that this transformation is going to complicate his life even more.
05:33At the same time, one of the biggest changes in this movie is that Peter no longer has access
05:39to any Stark tech.
05:40That's something fans have talked about for years, because his earlier suits and gadgets
05:45relied heavily on Tony Stark's resources.
05:48But now, that's completely gone.
05:51Everything he uses, from his web shooters to his suit, is built by him.
05:55The script even emphasizes that there's no Stark money, no gadgets, nothing.
06:00And honestly, that's kind of exciting, because it puts the focus back on Peter's intelligence.
06:06He's always been a genius, and now he finally has to prove it without any outside help.
06:12You can see that in things like his homemade fabricator, which is basically a DIY version of
06:18advanced tech.
06:19It's not perfect, but it works, and it shows how resourceful he is, even with limited resources.
06:25But even though he's independent, he hasn't completely let go of the idea of having assistants.
06:31Instead of using Tony's AI system anymore, he's created a new one called EV.
06:36And this is where things get a little sad again, because the script notes that this AI is basically
06:42the closest thing he has to a friend.
06:44That says a lot about his situation.
06:47He went from having real relationships to relying on a machine for interaction.
06:52And even though it helps him function as Spider-Man, it also highlights how isolated he's become.
06:58Finally, there's a new suit, which a lot of people noticed right away.
07:02It turns out that the design is actually inspired by the Spider-Men played by Tobey Maguire and
07:08Andrew Garfield.
07:09That's not just a visual reference, it's intentional.
07:13The movie is also making an effort to make the suit feel more real, using actual fabric
07:18with visible seams and wrinkles instead of making it look too perfect.
07:23That small detail adds a grounded feel, because it reflects Peter's current situation.
07:28He's not this high-tech superhero anymore, he's just a guy making the best suit he can with
07:33what he has.
07:34So when you take all of this together, it becomes pretty clear what Brand New Day is aiming for.
07:40It's not just another superhero story, it's a character-focused film about loneliness, identity,
07:46and what happens when someone tries to carry everything on their own.
07:50Peter is dealing with emotional pain, physical changes, and a complete lack of support, all
07:56at the same time.
07:58And even though he thinks isolating himself is the right choice, the movie seems to be
08:02setting up the idea that he can't keep living like that forever.
08:06In the end, being Spider-Man isn't just about saving people, it's also about staying human.
08:12And right now, it feels like Peter Parker is slowly losing that part of himself, even though
08:17he's trying to do the right thing.
08:19That's all we've gotta say for today.
