The LEGO Batman retrospective ends on 2018's LEGO DC Supervillains

ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED: February 25th 2026

RUMINATIONS: I don't do a lot of video game videos mostly because I don't have the equipment to capture footage and I feel weird about using other people's footage. That's why I had the disclaimer on some pictures. I like this game, it was a good way to alternate from LEGO Marvel Superheroes. I have plans to cover the LEGO Marvel games, but probably next year.

00:02One game I'm interested in or paying attention to because I don't have a modern console to play
00:07games on is Lego Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight. This made me think of previous Lego Batman games
00:12and so the next couple videos are going to be a retrospective on previous Lego Batman games and
00:18also Lego DC supervillains of good measure. So that was Lego Batman 3 and the end of the
00:22Lego Batman trilogy but the Lego DC Universe didn't end there so let's find out next time
00:27when the DC Universe goes bad.
00:3410 years since the release of the first Lego Batman game came to Lego DC supervillains,
00:38a game that lets the bad guys take the reins. This is a fun game having supervillains leave
00:42the game so the heroes differentiates itself from Lego Marvel superheroes which this game
00:46takes a lot of cues from but the game's embrace of the wider DC Universe feels more fitting than
00:49Lego Batman 3. Also the return of the open world lets you move more freely across several locations
00:54more easier than Lego Batman 3 but the game has an interesting idea at the heart of it.
00:58For the longest time though games had a create your own character feature there was always an extra
01:01feature but for this game they made your own original creation do not steal a central part
01:06of the game's storyline. Also the characters are silent so you both get a silent character like the
01:09old games while it reaches a happy medium between having a voice cast and the game has a good voice
01:14cast. While the reoccurring voice actors like Troy Baker and Christopher Corey Smith are replacing
01:17their roles as Batman and Joker but they are replaced by Kevin Conroy and Mark Cameron
01:20the roles in the DC animated universe among other former DC actors reprising their former roles. The story is also
01:25good
01:26combining elements of the forever evil and dark sidewall storylines into one story gives this film
01:30a higher stakes than the last one and the new girls are fun in this game with them having an
01:33equal amount
01:33of menace but not too scary for a Lego game. The game manages to get a lot out of exploring
01:37the
01:37ride of DC Universe you get a level in Arkham Asylum, a level in Atlantis, a level in Gorilla City.
01:42It manages to pack a lot
01:43unlike the more contained beyond Gotham and feels like a good evolution from the from Lego Batman 1. The focus
01:48on
01:48one hero, then having more heroes show up, going beyond Gotham, then showcasing the rest of what
01:52the universe has to offer. So those were the Lego Batman games, a pretty interesting series both in
01:56their respective franchises. If you liked this video then please share them with your friends,
