00:02one game i'm interested in or paying attention to because i don't have a modern console to play
00:07games on is lego batman legacy of the dark knight this made me think of previous lego batman games
00:12and so the next couple videos are going to be a retrospective on previous lego batman games and
00:18also lego dc supervillains good measure well lego batman 2 let you be the world's finest
00:23its sequel would let you explore the dc universe but you'll find out about that next time
00:33last time i talked about lego batman 2 this time i'm talking about its sequel and it's one game i
00:37have mixed feelings about lego batman 2 beyond gotham sought to move beyond gotham and open up
00:43the series to the wider dc universe but in doing so it made the title feel like an artifact as
00:47it's
00:47mostly just a justice league game a pretty good justice league game mind you it has a good story
00:51batman and robin work with justice league to first stop legion of noon but they're having to team up
00:55with them to stop brainiac lots of fun levels good communic moments and the shrunken earth level is
00:59pretty fun the game retains the series's sense of humor and the gameplay is pretty good now it's
01:04not just batman robin game super suits but characters like lex luther joker and cyborg get
01:08in on the action as well but the game came out after lego marvel superheroes which was a game that
01:12didn't tie itself to one hero and managed to be a good ensemble piece and lego batman 3 felt like
01:17it
01:17couldn't step out of the shadow of the bat feeling a bit contained to not just batman but also certain
01:21sections of the dc universe naming its space side of the universe so it didn't feel like a batman
01:24game in full given a game an identity crisis the game was also released during batman's 75th
01:29anniversary and he is dc's most popular character which kind of has a bit of commentary on how the
01:34big two's focuses on their characters marvel can use their entire roster ldc focuses on one guy i
01:39mean it's kind of changed now but it's good to promote the rest of the universe also this game
01:42goes back to hobworlds then the open world for lego batman 2 which feels like a step back especially
01:46as lego marvel kind of affected the whole superhero city aspect with side quests and appearances
01:51from other marvel characters also the game was released during the new 52 period and there was
01:54a push at the time across all of its media properties to at least resemble the comics the
01:58big probably noticeable thing here is that all the characters costumes in this game all resemble what
02:02they were wearing during the new 52 period superman doesn't have any underwear wonder woman's armor
02:07has more silver instead of gold and batman has the weird lines but there are things i love about
02:11this game i love the continuity between the games if lex luther's plan this game follows on from his
02:15failed presidential bid this was a game from 2014 when you were supposed to take the l i love the
02:20bit with
02:20the emotional spectrum messing up the heroes i loved zon and grundy i love the cameos even if
02:24colin o'brien's was a bit weird i enjoyed the adam west batman level and i love seeing the wider
02:29dc
02:29universe get in play even if it's under the guise of a batman game so that was lego batman 3
02:33and
02:34the end of the lego batman trilogy but the lego dc universe didn't end there so let's find out next
