A man in his 20s was arrested after allegedly running a red light and causing a two-car collision at Jalan PJU 8/1 in Damansara Perdana early Saturday (May 23) morning.

00:00A man in his 20s was arrested after allegedly running a red light
00:04and causing a two-car collision in Damansara Perdana early Saturday morning.
00:09Petling Jaya Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Shamsuddin Mamat
00:13said the incident occurred at around 12.27 a.m. along Jalan PJU 8-1.
00:20Initial investigations revealed that the suspect, who was driving a sport utility vehicle,
00:25allegedly failed to stop at a red traffic light before colliding with a sedan
00:30driven by another man in his 20s.
00:35A woman in her 20s, who was a passenger in the sedan, suffered injuries in the incident.
00:42Police later detained the suspect at the Petling Jaya District Police Headquarters compound
00:47for reckless driving.
00:49According to ACP Shamsuddin, alcohol and preliminary urine screening tests
00:54conducted on the suspect returned negative results.
00:58Police are expected to apply for a remand order against the suspect on Sunday
01:03at the Petling Jaya Court complex.
01:06The case is being investigated under Section 42, subsection 1
01:11of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
01:16A separate investigation is also being conducted under Section 323 of the Penal Code
