00:54Tell me about the volunteers. How important are they?
00:56My goodness. They are literally the heart of our business.
00:59From humble beginnings here in Ipswich the service has spread to 140 locations across the state.
01:06More than 6,000 volunteers supporting nearly 24,000 older Queenslanders.
01:13For 70 years Meals on Wheels has offered cooking and conversation.
01:18But right now petrol prices are a big challenge.
01:21We are hoping we might get some extra funding for the government shortly to cover the extra cost for fuel.
