00:08I'm giving you crops to turn into cash.
00:11Mia led Team Tomato.
00:13I think we're going to go pizza.
00:15That's banging.
00:16But over-promising.
00:17The probability of actually finishing this is literally impossible.
00:20Meant their profits got pulped.
00:22We've got to do 90% of the work now.
00:25Nadia's spud squad.
00:27Do you want more sausages? Because this is coming in protein.
00:29He splashed the cash.
00:30So it's around about £5.
00:33But slow sales chipped away at their chances.
00:36Thanks a match.
00:37No, no worries.
00:38And in the boardroom, Tomatoes took the win.
00:42£167.83.
00:45Janna ended up in hot water.
00:47The next task, you are going to be the project manager.
00:51But it was Nadia who got the chop.
00:54You're fired.
00:54Now, 14 candidates remain to fight for the chance to become Lord Sugar's business partner.
01:124am.
01:13Good morning.
01:14Good morning.
01:14Lord Sugar would like to meet you at Sketch Central London.
01:18The cars will be outside in 20 minutes.
01:23Guys, 20 minutes.
01:24Get to London.
01:26Let's go.
01:27You've got 20 minutes.
01:29Have you not been to Sketch before?
01:30I've learned to get.
01:31It's the one with the eggshell toilet.
01:3320 minutes.
01:36It is a high-end restaurant, which means this is going to be another food task.
01:42Thank God.
01:43I've only just got over the last one.
01:45I'm looking forward to you leaving us the victory this time, ma'am.
01:49Definitely, definitely.
01:50You need to get us W.
01:56I am ready, ready for a win.
01:58Yes.
01:59We can't be in the loser's cuff again.
02:01Yeah.
02:01I don't want any of that tea again.
02:04All I know is that we have to win.
02:07We're on a winning streak.
02:08Four out of five wins will be an 80% success rate, and that sounds quite good.
02:12I like that.
02:13Math G, huh?
02:17Mayfair, central London.
02:19Home to hundreds of high-end eateries offering up a taste of indulgence.
02:42Good morning.
02:43Good morning, Lord Sugar.
02:45Now, this restaurant serves Michelin-star food and world-class chocolate creations.
02:53And that's exactly what your next task is all about.
02:57Now, the UK Easter egg market is worth a staggering £220 million.
03:04Now, I want you to create a new chocolate Easter egg.
03:09You will have to design, package, and brand it, and you'll pitch your product to retailers.
03:15The team that secures the most hypothetical sales will win, and on the losing team, at least one of you
03:24will be fired.
03:25Right, I'm going to mix the teams up.
03:28Right, I'm going to mix the teams up.
03:28Fred, Johnny, and Emma are going to swap with Kier and Max.
03:38Everything clear?
03:40Off you go.
03:43Two days to create a new Easter treat.
03:46Welcome to the team, guys.
03:47How are you all feeling?
03:48Yeah.
03:49Very happy.
03:50It's very exciting.
03:51Before trying to tempt buyers tomorrow.
03:53Hopefully, we can bring you a win, eh?
03:56First job.
03:57Another food one.
03:58It's chocolate this time, no more tomatoes, but...
04:02Choose a chief.
04:04So, guys, is anyone feeling project manager today, or...?
04:08I do feel like it's now time for me to be project manager.
04:12I feel like I love food.
04:13I also used to work at Waitrose for four and a half years.
04:17In the last few tasks, I've given it 110%, so, yeah, I'd like to put myself forward.
04:22Anyone else want to be project manager?
04:26Sounds good to me.
04:27Yeah, it sounds good to me as well.
04:28So, it's me.
04:30Yeah, it is.
04:30Brilliant.
04:31Malika, the project manager.
04:35Across the hall...
04:36As a dentist, I don't know too much about chocolate.
04:40...crowned by Lord Sugar...
04:42So, a bit of pressure on me now.
04:44...project manager, Jana.
04:46I like the idea of having a kid's Easter egg.
04:49Is everyone on board with that?
04:50I was thinking about the luxury market as well.
04:52It is booming.
04:53Sure.
04:53And I feel like with the kid's market, of course, it is the biggest.
04:56It's the most saturated as well.
04:57So, yeah, I completely understand your point, Anissa, but I think going for kids brings up
05:01a wider market.
05:02Whereas with the luxury market, we have something more unique, a unique flavour, and I think
05:07we could actually create something that the brands would like.
05:09I think for now, let's keep it as it is.
05:10Is everyone happy with kids?
05:12Uh-huh.
05:12Yeah.
05:12All clear?
05:13All clear?
05:13Yeah.
05:23All right.
05:24All right.
05:43We're just having a heart shape or maybe a star shape in terms of the packaging.
05:48How is that unique?
05:50Obviously, originally you wanted to go down this route.
05:52Did you have any particular USPs that you wanted to put forward?
05:56Yeah.
05:57Yeah.
05:57Well, look, I mean, I'm leaning towards an option where it is a little bit sort of like
06:00health-related.
06:01It has health benefits.
06:02You know, I'd like that.
06:04That's good enough.
06:04So health benefits is our USP.
06:05You want us to be healthy chocolate?
06:07I don't think that's good enough.
06:07I disagree strongly.
06:08They juxtapose too much.
06:10I don't want to have it in the back of my mind, oh, God, this should be healthy.
06:15Malika has best intentions and, you know, she's really passionate about food, but what
06:19she's lacking is a really specific vision and a USP.
06:23Let's try and do something a little bit different.
06:25I've got an idea.
06:27It's one of my favourite drinks.
06:28It's matcha tea.
06:30Yeah.
06:30Love matcha.
06:31Chocolate and caramel.
06:33I can guarantee people will love it.
06:34I like the white and matcha.
06:35Yeah.
06:36I think that is quite premium.
06:37I do like that.
06:40My idea is just to have, like, maybe, like, a character.
06:43So, for example, I had Easter Ed.
06:46Chewing over a concept for their chocolate.
06:48I quite like the theme of, like, maybe outer space or planets.
06:52Jana's team.
06:53Could Easter Ed be an astronaut?
06:56Okay.
06:56That could work.
06:57So here's a message, plus there's a space theme together.
07:01Now, guys, looking at the great Easter eggs we have over here, what's the most safest
07:04approach to take?
07:05I love the classic Easter egg look.
07:07Milk chocolate.
07:08For me, when it comes to kids, I think animals, they love pets, cats, dogs, etc.
07:13And I think we could really make it stand out with something animal related.
07:16The thing with that is, right, sometimes when you're doing animal characters, you kind
07:19of limit it in terms of the age range people want to go for.
07:21Yeah.
07:22I still just think with classic, is that going to stand out?
07:25I think we'll just take it to a vote, Jana.
07:27Can you please put your hands up for animals?
07:30Oh, okay.
07:31I do think on this occasion, I think going for classic brings up a wider market.
07:35So I would like to go for that, if that's okay with everyone.
07:39Jana is PM at the end of the day.
07:40He has overruled our decision, but I'm hoping it doesn't come back to bite him in the bum.
07:46So Kia, Amber Rose, Jordan and Max will be in the branding team.
07:51Managing her manpower.
07:54Recruitment boss, Malika.
07:55And sub-team leader, Amber Rose, I'd love you to be sub-team, if you are comfortable with that.
08:00I'd like to pull myself forward, I'm very confident in my ability.
08:03Do you know what, I think I do want to be fair in this process.
08:06It's not about fair, I work in the creative industry, really understand design.
08:10I think Jordan will be good.
08:11I do think you'll be excellent at that.
08:13Okay, great.
08:14Sounds good.
08:14Perfect.
08:15So for the branding team, I'm taking myself, Frederick, Johnny and Liam.
08:19Does anyone want to be sub-team leader?
08:22I don't mind paying myself forward, given my background in cooking.
08:25I think I can create a good product.
08:27Great.
08:27Let's go get it.
08:29Carabelle.
08:3211am.
08:34Today, teams will cook up brands and create their new confections.
08:39I think we should stick with the brief and what Jana said.
08:41First on the menu.
08:43I'm happy to go on egg on the basis that that's what Jana has requested of us.
08:47He wants a classic egg.
08:49Choose a shape for their chocks.
08:52Typical connotations to luxury, elegance are abstract art paintings.
08:56It's a little bit obscure, it's quite unique.
08:58It looks to me like a log.
09:00I just can't see anything but a log at the moment and I'm like just...
09:05Because it's brown and it's loggy but...
09:07I know.
09:08If you go for that, then the dark chocolate is probably going to be off the cards because
09:11it will look like...
09:12I'll take it.
09:16Central London.
09:17A leading creative agency.
09:20You want something different that, you know, hasn't necessarily been done before.
09:24Pondering names for their luxury product.
09:27Right, let's get these written on the board.
09:29Jordan, Max, Amber Rose and Keir.
09:33So I was thinking along the lines of the art of chocolate or something.
09:38Um...
09:38It's quite long.
09:39Yeah, I'm just...
09:40Is there any...
09:41I was thinking as well, like there's companies out there who are one word.
09:45Think Apple.
09:46We could even take it a step further and have a word that has something to do with chocolate.
09:49Like, I don't know, like ooze or something.
09:52Hmm.
09:53We need something broad enough that we can be flexible depending on what product we land with.
09:58If there was a way to call it chocolatier, I'd be sick.
10:02Chocolatier is just a job role.
10:03It's like calling it, like, CEO.
10:05Anything else coming to mind?
10:07Um, so I was thinking of something like Choco Luxe.
10:10You know what?
10:10Choco Luxe is a very strong one.
10:13It's to the point.
10:14I feel like we should go with that.
10:15Love it.
10:17All in agreement.
10:17Super happy with that.
10:18Brilliant.
10:19Choco Luxe.
10:20There he is.
10:22They've named their Easter egg Choco Luxe.
10:24I mean, they were given a really broad brief by Malika to do whatever they wanted.
10:28And what they've actually created is pretty boring.
10:31That is so good.
10:33Choco Luxe.
10:34Yeah.
10:34We can sell that.
10:35Love that.
10:35We can sell that.
10:38Next door.
10:39Ed's Easter Egg.
10:41Black, there are three E's so we can play on alliteration.
10:44Working on ways to crack the kids market.
10:47What is creative about Ed's Easter Egg?
10:49It might as well be Johnny's Jelly.
10:51Do you know what I mean?
10:51I just don't really get it.
10:53Janna's Space Cadets.
10:55What about Easter Ed's chocolate egg?
10:57Easter Ed's chocolate egg.
10:58Let's go for that.
11:00The main thing I want to be able to have is when you're thinking of Easter, I want our character,
11:05Ed, to be the Santa Claus of Easter.
11:08Can we have him slightly at an angle so as if he's floating with no gravity?
11:11Can we make him bigger as well?
11:13No.
11:13I think straight up I don't like the tilted.
11:15Can we put it on the white hand side?
11:17I think left.
11:18I think the white side is empty now.
11:19Do you want the character bigger?
11:21No.
11:21Yeah, definitely.
11:22I like that.
11:22I don't really.
11:24A little bit smaller.
11:25Bigger, bigger.
11:26Keep going, keep going, keep going.
11:27I prefer how it was before.
11:28Should we just see that?
11:29No.
11:29I would like to have some chocolate pouring out, especially outside the window.
11:33We just don't want it looking like poo.
11:34That's the problem.
11:35No.
11:36I think we should leave it.
11:38Yeah.
11:38We'll just go back to how it was before.
11:42I'm getting the vibe.
11:43I'm slightly irritating.
11:44Just a couple of people.
11:45However, there's a knot winding on this.
11:47So I do ultimately think it's really important to challenge things which I think are a bit
11:50cliche and not very high standards.
11:52I'm happy with the box.
11:53What do you guys think?
11:54I think it would have been good to get chocolate on there somehow.
11:58All right, so let's go with the dark shade of purple you have, please.
12:01Yeah.
12:01Yeah.
12:02Breathing life into Choco Luxe.
12:04The whole box should be one overall colour, I think.
12:08Animation hotshot, Jordan.
12:11So could we write Choco, Choco Luxe?
12:14Yeah.
12:14Yeah.
12:16That's too much though, Cadbury's.
12:18Purple is just a very premium colour.
12:19Yeah.
12:20I see it used in a lot of premium brands.
12:22Yeah, I just think that that shade of purple might be conceived as one of the bigger confectionary
12:29competitors.
12:30Yeah.
12:30I get the whole point, but it's an association with something people already know.
12:34We just need to be conscious of, especially because it does look like that brand, does
12:39it stand out if it was next to them, for example?
12:42Yeah.
12:42That's the worry.
12:44I can see how that would work with the chocolate theme.
12:46I want to go with that.
12:52Cambridge.
12:53At Development Kitchens.
12:55You've got your chocolate, you'll have to put your flavour on the top.
13:00For both teams.
13:01And these scales here again, you would have your bowl and start adding in your dry ingredients.
13:05That's what you're going to start with.
13:06A masterclass in chocolate making.
13:09Taste as you go.
13:10You can always add more, you can't take it back out, you will.
13:13Finessing flavours to fit their luxury brief.
13:16I haven't actually tried to match it on its own yet.
13:18Well, you wouldn't.
13:19Oh, go on.
13:19That would be really strong.
13:20No, go on, we'll try.
13:21Might as well.
13:22Dean, Mia and Malika.
13:29What do you think?
13:31They're strong, isn't it?
13:32Yeah.
13:32We're not going to use much of them.
13:34So should we start with like 20?
13:36No.
13:37That's going to be too much.
13:38Let's have two grams to start off with.
13:40Do you want to grab the white chocolate?
13:42Yeah.
13:43Right.
13:43Should we get trying?
13:47I mean, all I really taste in that is white chocolate.
13:50What about you?
13:52Yeah.
13:53You can't taste the matcha.
13:54No.
13:55So should we double up on the matcha?
13:57What are you thinking?
13:58I think any more and it might look a bit silly green.
14:01Mmm.
14:02I know what you're saying about the colour, but if we advertising it as matcha and you can't taste the
14:06matcha.
14:07I know, but any more green is going to look gross.
14:11It is.
14:13I don't want our egg to look like a bogey.
14:16I want it to have like that mild, sophisticated look.
14:19And that's why we've decided to go for, you know, the much lighter colour.
14:25Can you not taste any matcha at all?
14:28Not really.
14:33Next door.
14:34In terms of flavours, we want something that will go to the masses.
14:37Cooking up ways to help their chocolate pop.
14:40Milk chocolate, is everyone happy?
14:41Yeah.
14:42Yes.
14:42Anissa, Chisola and Emma.
14:45So now let's move on to the dry ingredients of it as well.
14:48So 10 grams of crunchy caramel and let's do 10 grams of popping candy.
14:54Perfect.
14:54Okay, so we have 20 grams total of the dry.
14:56Let's just mix it up.
14:57And then chocolate.
14:59Oh, yeah.
14:59There we go.
15:00Oh.
15:00This is.
15:01This is quite tasty.
15:02It is.
15:03I honestly am thinking a little bit more caramel to just enhance the caramel flavour and then
15:07we keep it like that.
15:08That's what I'm thinking.
15:09Fucking caramel choccy egg.
15:11Cheers.
15:11Cheers.
15:14Mmm.
15:14I mean, mmm.
15:15That's quite nice.
15:16Mmm.
15:17That's good.
15:18That's good.
15:18That's good.
15:225pm.
15:23Hi team.
15:23How are you all doing?
15:25Touching base with her branding team.
15:27Good.
15:27Good.
15:27Good.
15:28How are you guys getting on?
15:29Malika.
15:30Yeah.
15:31So we've actually thought of a white chocolate matcha Easter egg.
15:36Okay.
15:37So I do want to make it very clear, however, the matcha flavour doesn't come through that
15:43much.
15:44The reason being is if we were to put more matcha into the Easter egg, it was coming up
15:48as a very dark green colour.
15:50So what colour is the egg?
15:52Is it white or is it a light green?
15:53It's a light green.
15:54Yeah.
15:55And do we think that that screams luxury and it doesn't just scream shrap?
15:59No.
15:59Imagine like a pistachio colour but a few shades lighter.
16:03And guys, just on the shape of the product, what have we landed on?
16:06So we've basically gone for a, it looks like a log shape.
16:11All right.
16:11All right.
16:12So you don't need to go and make the video.
16:13Well done.
16:14Bye-bye.
16:15I'll be honest, I'm not too happy with that whole colour thing, because I mean,
16:19to see an RF green, I'm going to be thinking, is that thing out of date?
16:22Obviously the brief was premium luxury.
16:24I don't know that a green log really resonates that.
16:30Yeah.
16:31We went with milk chocolate.
16:33We had crunchy caramel and popping candy.
16:35Checking in with his chocolatiers.
16:37Have you guys tasted it?
16:39Yeah.
16:40It's banging, like the taste is banging.
16:43Dentist Janna.
16:45Now we're moving on to decoration.
16:47Is there anything in particular you wanted from us to do?
16:49So around the logo, we have an orange ring that goes around it.
16:53You can add that orange as an element to your chocolate Easter egg.
16:57And in the packaging, we've got, you know, grey stars and grey planets around it.
17:01Okay.
17:01It's a navy blue box on all of the outside.
17:03Don't do anything more blue, because the box is already blue.
17:07Yellow and orange will be quite colourful.
17:10Yeah, we understand.
17:10We're now going to go in to decoration.
17:13Good luck.
17:15Okay, guys, so let's start decoration.
17:16This is the most crucial part of our egg.
17:19Let's start.
17:20What I do want to do is try some gold leaf.
17:24Could we maybe do some swirls?
17:26While Malika's team adds some luxury to their log.
17:28I quite like that, actually.
17:30Yeah, I'm buzzing with that.
17:31Working on their extraterrestrial egg.
17:34Or would we think it like that?
17:37I think that looks like a creature.
17:40Anissa, Emma and Chisola.
17:43It does give, like, that space feel.
17:46I think that could look really nice.
17:49They mentioned about having, like, an orange ring around the egg.
17:53Nice.
17:53I can't see what I'm doing right now.
17:55Yeah, carry on. And then stop, stop.
17:56The colour looks really good.
17:58Is it worth trying to brush it a little bit out?
18:00Not too much, not too much.
18:02Just making it a little bit thicker.
18:04This is nice.
18:05Yeah.
18:06Can you potentially brush on a base of sprinkles and a bit of white chocolate for the egg?
18:09Or onto the band?
18:11Let's just put some things on.
18:12See what they look like.
18:13Let's try that here, for example.
18:15Oh, look.
18:16Yeah, well, it's got...
18:18It does look better.
18:19It's done.
18:21The team had a really clear concept.
18:23It was to create a simple, fun, kids-focused egg that appealed to the mass market.
18:29They've created this Dali-esque piece of art, which I don't get at all.
18:33It is mad.
18:34It's got that intergalactic feel, so I think we can make this work.
18:427pm.
18:43Last task of the day.
18:45And action.
18:46Shoot a short video that gives a flavour of their brands.
18:50Do you want a chocolate taste from outer space?
18:56While Frederick brings Easter Ed to life.
18:59When you have been good for weeks, Easter Ed will come with treats.
19:05Channeling her inner director for Chocolux.
19:07I think flashcards would be quite easy to execute.
19:11Amber Rose.
19:13So you just make some facial expressions, like this.
19:17Shock.
19:18Yeah.
19:19Okay.
19:19Yeah, a little bit more.
19:20A little bit more on your face.
19:21We're disgusted.
19:22Yeah, okay.
19:23Really shocked.
19:24Throw.
19:24Great.
19:26So do we.
19:27So agree, yeah.
19:27Yeah, yeah, yeah.
19:28Take it off.
19:30Introducing Chocolux.
19:31Nice teeth.
19:31Yeah, we're really happy with this.
19:33This is the best product ever.
19:35Chuck it off.
19:35Unique shapes and flavours for Easter.
19:38Chuck it off and walk off.
19:40I think that's all we need.
19:41Should we do one more take?
19:42We've spelt unique wrong.
19:43Oh.
19:44Yeah.
19:44Nice.
19:44So, so we need to do that again.
19:48I'm not particularly happy with where we've landed with the video.
19:51We were going for a premium approach.
19:52I'm not entirely sure that we've achieved that.
19:55You know, I don't think it's probably what any of us really envisioned from the start.
19:59No.
19:59Well, it is what it is.
20:00It's still now.
20:028pm.
20:04Videos wrapped up.
20:05That looks great.
20:07That looks really good.
20:08It's very simple.
20:09It's eloquent.
20:10Prototypes produced.
20:12Good job, everyone.
20:12Let's head back.
20:13Perfect.
20:13Let's head back.
20:15Tomorrow, push for sweet deals.
20:227am.
20:23I think you'll be happy what we did.
20:25For Jana's team.
20:26We want to stick to your brief in the morning.
20:28So having that classic egg shape.
20:30The first peek at their cosmic creation.
20:34What do you think?
20:37So, I do have a couple of concerns.
20:39I can't lie.
20:40Yeah.
20:40I think the white looks like snow.
20:42What white?
20:43Oh, the shortcake.
20:43I think it looks like it's snowing.
20:45And guys, I do think the hundreds and thousands, the spin quills, whatever you want to call
20:48them, look really messy.
20:50That's my concern.
20:51Yeah.
20:52I hear your concerns, but I think ultimately when we know this is for kids, they eat with
20:56their eyes, they're going to be like, oh my gosh, I love the look of that.
20:58It does look a tiny bit messy.
21:00I don't feel like you've got too much going on.
21:02It's just a bit of decoration.
21:04And really to make it stand out, it needed something that was more out there.
21:10Albeit we're doing it for children, it kind of looks like a child made it.
21:13It does look messy.
21:14And that does worry me going into pitch about it this afternoon, that it just doesn't look
21:17professional.
21:18So our goal was for it to look like a planet.
21:20So that's why we have the orange ring around it.
21:25Across the hall.
21:26Oh.
21:27You love it?
21:28Malika's team get a look at their luxury log.
21:32Obviously when we heard that you guys had made a green egg, we were slightly conscious
21:36because in our opinions, green doesn't necessarily scream luxury premium.
21:41And this is greener than I would have expected it to look.
21:45But it's matcha like infused.
21:48Honestly, I can't stress enough how little matcha we put.
21:51Yeah.
21:52Literally, I think it was 1.5 to 2 grams.
21:54If the matcha flavouring isn't strong, was there a point in using the matcha?
21:58Yeah, I did flag this up.
22:00It was what we discussed in the brief in the morning.
22:02Yeah.
22:02It is like there is matcha in it.
22:06There's not too much otherwise.
22:08It would have literally looked like a block of sick.
22:11Oh, I'm more than happy with the finished result.
22:13I love it.
22:14It's different.
22:15The quality is there.
22:16And that's exactly what we wanted to achieve here.
22:18And I think that we've definitely smashed that out.
22:20My only qualms about this is the fact that if we can't taste the matcha, why did we add it?
22:25Yeah.
22:25Just because a premium product to me, when you have ingredients, there needs to be a lot of those ingredients.
22:30That's what makes it luxury and premium.
22:33Bye.
22:34It's actually not bad.
22:35I actually think it's quite good.
22:37Flavours signed off.
22:39My mouth is still popping.
22:41Drilling down into his brand.
22:43So I wanted to create a main character for Easter.
22:47Dentist, Jana.
22:48Easter egg is the logo.
22:50Let me know what your thoughts are.
22:52I was just thinking with packaging, it could have been a bit intercollective with colours.
22:57Yeah, I just think like the night sky is navy blue.
23:00But when you're next to all these bright coloured Easter egg packaging, we might not stand out as much.
23:05So I think it could have been kind of planets and...
23:07Like yellow stars.
23:08Yeah, like yellow stars.
23:09We did try all that.
23:11We did try all that.
23:12But honestly, it was just looking too messy.
23:16In terms of the packaging and the branding that we came up with, it's very strong.
23:21Also, picking over their packaging...
23:23We tried to use a font that was a little bit more premium grade.
23:26Malika's team.
23:28My only concern, I would say, is it looks like another fairly large competitor within the confectionery market.
23:33Ultimately, coming out of that morning meeting, there wasn't much clarity on what we actually had to make.
23:39No, I appreciate what you're saying.
23:39To flag it as a concern, it's something we definitely all need to be mindful of.
23:42Yes, OK, it does somewhat resemble those colours, but it just means that people are going to resonate with it
23:47quicker.
23:49Do you want a chocolate taste from outer space?
23:53For Jana's team...
23:54When you have been good for weeks, Easter Ed will come with treats.
23:59The big reveal of their brand ambassador.
24:02If you've been good, Ed will know and find a way.
24:08I feel like you kind of mixed Easter and Christmas.
24:11Like, Easter Ed's going to come and treat you.
24:14That's kind of like the whole point, that's his vision.
24:16That was my vision.
24:17To create a Santa Claus for Easter.
24:19I think that's a little bit confusing.
24:21I like when the astronaut is in space.
24:23I think we should have just centered an astronaut in space for, like, the majority of the video.
24:29What I wanted to do is, you know, we've got Santa Claus for Christmas.
24:32For Easter, we don't really have a main character.
24:34So, you know, Easter Ed will find a way to get you your treats as long as you behave yourself.
24:39I understand why Jana wants to create a character like Santa Claus for Easter,
24:42but the Easter Bunny does exist.
24:45I don't think astronaut Ed or Easter Ed is going to take over from the Easter Bunny.
24:54For Chocolux, a first peek at their promo.
25:08Is that it? Yeah.
25:10It's supposed to be a ten to second turn.
25:13Okay, so it's meant to be a short one.
25:15It's...
25:16I think, um...
25:18I actually don't know what I think.
25:20It wasn't my most favorite video.
25:22It didn't scream luxury in my view.
25:25Obviously, Amber Rose, I trusted her opinion that, you know, Flashcats entrusted her to direct it.
25:30Yeah, so, one sec, so we had limited time and limited resources.
25:34And ultimately, it might not look the most premium, but it conveys our story and our brand ethos.
25:40The video was not luxurious at all.
25:42I feel like the cards was a bit cheap.
25:45Um, he looks a bit depressed at the start of the video.
25:48Um, and then he sort of gets a bit happy.
25:50But, yeah, I didn't...
25:52I didn't think that was the right route to go down.
25:54In terms of who's going off for consumer research,
25:57it's going to be Keir, it's going to be Amber Rose, and then also Max.
26:00Are we all happy with that?
26:01Yeah, I'll do that.
26:02Cool.
26:0310am.
26:04While half of each team gathers feedback on their eggs, the rest...
26:10So, in terms of the structure on the pitch, I'm going to be opening up, setting the scene.
26:14We'll try to hatch the perfect pitch.
26:16For Christmas, we have Santa Claus, who preaches good morals, be kind and good ethics.
26:21But for Easter, we don't really have that person.
26:23And that's why we created Easter Ed.
26:25I don't understand.
26:26If I was...
26:27If I was there, hearing your opener, and you say that there's a gap in the market,
26:31if there's a Santa Claus, but there isn't around Easter,
26:33I've always seen Easter Bunny.
26:35The thing with Easter Bunny is, we know with Santa Claus, you have to be nice.
26:39There's a naughty list, there's a nice list.
26:41With Easter Bunny, there isn't that ethos behind it.
26:43It's just an Easter Bunny.
26:45It doesn't stand or represent anything.
26:46But do we want to be talking about Christmas, when this is all about Easter?
26:50Mm.
26:51So, this is why it would work so well, because that works so well with Christmas.
26:53Why wouldn't Easter Ed be the Santa Claus of Christmas for Easter?
26:57OK.
26:59Johnny keeps mentioning Christmas.
27:01I'm here thinking we're talking about Easter.
27:04So, if I'm confused as part of the team, what are the clients going to think?
27:08Should I say, then, Easter Bunny's been outdated?
27:10Yeah, yeah, maybe.
27:11I could pop that in there as well.
27:14At a high-end hotel, for the other team...
27:18How we doing, guys? We good?
27:19..a chance to see how Chocolux lands with the public.
27:22Would I be right in assuming that this does look like a luxury product?
27:29I would maybe think it was just sort of an imitation of a Cadbury's product.
27:34I like the gold leaf, but, like, the colour is just, like, it's downfall, I think.
27:42Um, I don't drink matcha, everyone knows much about it, but I feel like it tastes like that.
27:47OK.
27:47I agree the matcha doesn't really come through at all.
27:50I'm a massive matcha latte fan and didn't get a single bit of matcha, which is quite disappointing.
27:57Now we're going to need you to taste some chocolate.
28:01Yeah!
28:01Yeah!
28:01He's excited!
28:03Putting their egg to the experts.
28:05Hands up if you like the taste.
28:09Wow!
28:10Nine out of none of you like the taste.
28:12Chisola, Liam, and Anissa.
28:15OK, let's crack on.
28:16Who feels like the taste is out of space?
28:20Put your hands up.
28:23Only three of you think out of space.
28:24OK, that's fine.
28:25Doesn't really, like, make me feel like I'm floating around without breathing.
28:30OK.
28:30So here we have Easter Ed.
28:32He's an astronaut.
28:33Who likes the astronaut?
28:35Anyone?
28:36Hands up if you like the astronaut.
28:38That's it.
28:39Really high, really high.
28:40Three of you?
28:42OK, that's OK.
28:43So, everyone, do you like the actual look of our egg?
28:48I don't really like the look of the egg, because it's not really even.
28:57Mid-afternoon.
28:59Hi, guys. How are we doing? You good?
29:01Before pitching begins...
29:03They didn't actually get the matcha coming through.
29:05They were a little bit disappointed by that.
29:06For both teams...
29:08All of them love the flavour.
29:10Oh!
29:12The chance to filter through the feedback.
29:16There obviously was a few things that it wasn't 100% on.
29:19Only two out of nine liked the astronaut.
29:22And only three out of nine liked Easter Ed as a name and a brand.
29:26So they weren't too keen.
29:28A big part of our speeches is actually building a real brand around Easter Ed.
29:33So I think we've kind of all successfully mitigated that.
29:385pm.
29:39Arriving at both venues, some of the nation's biggest buyers, including Waitrose, Tesco and Asda.
29:48We have worked tirelessly to create a unique recipe of a luxury chocolate Easter egg.
29:54Serving up Chocolux.
29:56I personally cannot wait for you to open that box and try that chocolate.
30:01Oh! There we go!
30:03Malika's team.
30:04It's pretty solid.
30:07So what we've done was we mixed two of my favourite things.
30:10Matcha tea and chocolate.
30:13So yeah, absolutely love it.
30:15And yeah, we ultimately wanted to challenge that Easter egg shape.
30:18Our method of doing that was through interpretive art, really.
30:22And we're really pleased with where we've landed with this product.
30:28When you have been good for weeks, Easter Ed will come with treats.
30:32Shooting for the stars with Easter Ed.
30:35Available in your stores today.
30:37Project manager, Jana.
30:40I think it's safe to say that all of us in this room here today have children in our lives
30:44that we love.
30:45However, you see, the thing is, in Christmas time during December, they all act really nice.
30:51And I thought to myself, that's great, but why don't we have that for Easter?
30:55And that's why we decided to create Easter Ed.
30:58Every Easter, he comes down to Earth to deliver a chocolate taste from outer space.
31:04But not to everyone.
31:06You have to be kind in order to qualify for one of these chocolate eggs.
31:10So, there we have it.
31:12A holiday hero with a message we can all get behind.
31:15Thank you very much.
31:17Pitch is over.
31:18Teams have one hour to secure bulk orders from buyers.
31:23You've chosen Matcha. That's something that we're seeing as an emerging trend.
31:27While Kia crunches the numbers.
31:29We'd be happy at 1,000 units.
31:311,750.
31:33Got my hands in.
31:34Thank you very much.
31:37In talks with supermarket titan Tesco.
31:40Any questions to start off with, guys?
31:42Mia.
31:43I think certainly Matcha is one of those products that we are seeing on trend at the moment.
31:48And actually matching it with white chocolate is, we feel, is a good match.
31:53And do you have any estimations in terms of what you would generally look to start off with with a
31:58new engagement?
31:58I think we can go up to circa 8,000.
32:04Would you maybe consider going up to around 150?
32:07So, if at 150 that product then became exclusive to Tesco, then we would make that commitment.
32:13OK. So, OK, in that case, would you mind if we just have two seconds to discuss as a team
32:19and come back to you?
32:20Sure.
32:22OK.
32:23I think we should come in with a counter-offer and something potentially just a little bit lower and just
32:27cut the exclusivity.
32:27Yeah, well, that's exactly what I was going to add on to it.
32:28I don't think we need to go around it too much.
32:31I'll go with 125, no exclusivity, and I'll go from there.
32:33OK, perfect.
32:35Thank you for that, guys.
32:36Really appreciate your offer and your interest in the business.
32:40We would be reluctant to offer exclusivity at this stage.
32:42Would you maybe be happy with 125,000 and no exclusivity?
32:46I'll hold firm on the 150 exclusive or 80 without.
32:53I think we should shake on 80.
32:55We'd love to shake on 80,000 eggs.
32:57Thank you so much.
32:5880,000 eggs.
33:00They could have secured an order of 150,000 units from Tesco's, but they turned that down because they didn't
33:07want to offer exclusivity.
33:08I mean, that is a brave decision.
33:10They got an order for 80,000, but that is 70,000 less than they could have had.
33:15Mia, you did walk away with some orders, so well done for that.
33:18Again, we are eating up to our time, so I'm going to rush off.
33:21I'm going to speak to waitress and try and nail this fast.
33:26On the other team...
33:27A chocolate taste from outer space.
33:29I mean, what more could you want?
33:30While Chisola gets a bite from the buyers...
33:33I will go up to 3,000, but I can't go any further than that.
33:37...looking to land his first deal...
33:39Hi there, pleasure to meet you. My name's Jana.
33:41Jana.
33:42Please tell us, what do you guys think?
33:44I think it's a classic example of good idea, poor execution.
33:48Okay.
33:49On your pitch, you said about the importance of your character and the kindness message that comes through.
33:54Yeah.
33:54How do you think that actually comes across in your packaging and the finished product?
33:58We're going to really hone in that message that it is for children who behave themselves, who are nice, who
34:03spread positivity.
34:04Where's the kindness, then?
34:05We wanted to kind of convey that really positive message.
34:08It's not about eating loads of junk food. It's actually about spreading kindness and positivity.
34:12For me, that message is just missed.
34:14Ultimately, what are your thoughts? We'd love to get these in your stores today, ideally nationwide.
34:18I admire your persistence, but I can't get past the look of this egg.
34:23I think the ethos and the kindness thing is a really nice brand idea. Unfortunately, it wasn't encapsulated on the
34:28packaging.
34:29However, the decoration on the egg looks like a three-year-old's done it, so I am where it is
34:33going forward.
34:36East London.
34:37This is a delicious product, and it is unique.
34:40While Amber Rose seals a deal.
34:42Because it is a little bit different, I will go up to 2,500.
34:46Thank you very much. Thank you so much.
34:48Hoping to win favour with a former employer.
34:51I can see you're wearing the deli jacket that they normally wear at Waitrose, or is that the fish counter
34:57one?
34:57Malika.
34:58So, as one of the senior development chefs, I look after all things sweet, including chocolate and confec.
35:03Ooh.
35:05Interesting.
35:06You're someone special indeed.
35:09Yeah, so what are your overall thoughts?
35:11Personally, I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't get matcha throughout it.
35:15Actually, if we put too much matcha, you're kind of losing the taste of chocolate almost.
35:19But did you actually like the chocolate itself?
35:22For me, it was very, very sweet.
35:24I know you said you don't particularly like the sweet taste, but should we maybe talk about whether you may
35:30be interested in potentially placing an order with us today?
35:34Based on what we've heard today, we would not be moving forward.
35:37Is it not worth just, like, putting it on the shelves, see what happens, and then take it from there?
35:42I still think it comes down to taste, to be honest.
35:45Okay. Well, look, I really appreciate your time.
35:48Again, we've already made a negotiation with Tesco already, of thousands of units.
35:54Tens of thousands.
35:55But if you do change your mind, come and grab us, and then we can, you know, come to some
35:59sort of agreement there.
36:02Malika almost did a no-no-no-no moment to Waitrose when she said,
36:07well, we've secured an order of tens of thousands units with Tesco's.
36:10I was a bit unprofessional.
36:1330 minutes until sales must cease.
36:16An egg. We really enjoyed eating.
36:18We can shake on 6,000.
36:19Thank you very much, Annie.
36:20Thank you so much.
36:21Pleasure.
36:22Launching into a last-minute pitch.
36:24I was wondering if you see Easter Reds chocolate egg in your John Lewis store.
36:28Jana's half of the team.
36:30The actual finish on the egg itself, do you think that's strong enough when you've got it so on front
36:35of shelf for customers to see?
36:37Yeah, do you know what, Lisa? I do see your point there, but I think that kind of rough handmade
36:40finish does have a certain appeal.
36:42So, the real question is, is not if you want to order, but how many would you like to order?
36:47Just before that, we really liked the positive message. We did wonder why it wasn't stronger on your packaging.
36:52It is a shame, yeah, it is a shame. However, that's why we had the video to try and push
36:56that part of the element of our branding forward to you.
37:00So, how many stores would you think you could see this in?
37:02The finish, for me, wouldn't meet our customers' expectations. So, unfortunately, it's not something we could look to stock on
37:08our shelves.
37:12Five minutes to go.
37:13Tesco has so many stores. If we start with that 1,000 each store, that's over a million straight away.
37:18Both teams.
37:20I can't stress how happy we are with the way the product tastes.
37:23Press for sales.
37:24We're able to bump that order up to 3,000 and I'll shake your hand right now.
37:27Bless you. Oh, fantastic.
37:29You mentioned in the pitch that Easter needs a Father Christmas character. Are you aware of the Easter Bunny?
37:35It's my favourite drink mixed with chocolate and it just works so well together.
37:39We just wondered why you hadn't spoken about kindness on the packaging.
37:43I think that's a great point.
37:45When I first saw it, I thought it was a chocolate-scented candle and that, for me, was a worry.
37:49And the popping candy is an experience that in itself will go viral.
37:52We would look to order 2,000 eggs.
37:54Thank you very much. Look forward to working with you.
37:576pm.
37:58Hey, guys. How are we?
37:59Hi, guys. How did it go? Who did you speak to?
38:01Trading over.
38:02I'm going to say there was a divide. You know, the green matcha was a big issue.
38:06It should have had a stronger matcha flavour, in my opinion, and that did sort of come up quite often
38:11with all the retailers.
38:11Being honest, I think the box was a hurdle, the egg was a brick wall, and I think we've done
38:16what we can.
38:17Mixed emotions. From my side, of course, I'm feeling anxious.
38:20It is quite disappointing that they couldn't buy into Ed himself, but they just didn't see it.
38:25Tonight, Easter egg sales will be totaled.
38:30Tomorrow, crunch time.
38:39You can go through to the wardroom now. Thank you. Thank you.
38:57Good morning.
38:58Good morning.
38:59Good morning, Old Sugar.
39:00So this task was all about coming up with a chocolate product for the Easter market.
39:08Where shall I start first?
39:10You can start with us, if you like.
39:12Ooh.
39:13Get it over with.
39:14Get it over with, Malika.
39:16Right, and you were the project manager, is that right?
39:19That's correct, Lord Sugar.
39:20I've worked very hard throughout all the tasks, and I thought it was about time to take the step up
39:25to be project manager.
39:26Yeah.
39:26Now, Jordan finally became a leader of some kind.
39:31Finally got my briefcase, yeah.
39:33Like Pinocchio finally getting to be a real boy.
39:36Is that right?
39:37Yeah.
39:37Yeah.
39:40So, you end up choosing luxury as the theme, is that right?
39:45That's correct.
39:46We went for a white chocolate matcher option.
39:49Dean does regularly drink this drink.
39:51Yeah.
39:52It was an idea of mine to mix my favourite drink with chocolate.
39:55This is it, is it?
39:56Yeah.
39:57Yeah.
39:59I've got to tell you, I can't believe my eyes.
40:03What has this got to do with Easter?
40:05It's not an egg, it looks like a scented candle to me.
40:08Yeah, we knew we had to make the best of essentially a bad situation, so we came up with a
40:13really good storyline,
40:13basically explaining why we had chosen a different style that wasn't a classic Easter egg.
40:19I mean, to me it looks like something you put a loob brush in.
40:23Yeah.
40:24I will say, despite how it might look, all of us loved the taste of it.
40:29Okay.
40:29So, Karen, do you think I should risk tasting something?
40:34I think you should.
40:34When the retailers opened it, it exploded everywhere, so be slightly careful.
40:38You're going to have to have a hammer.
40:39It's hard.
40:41Oh, there's a bit.
40:43Okay.
40:45Mmm.
40:46Moment of truth.
40:48It's not bad.
40:49All you can really taste is white chocolate.
40:51Can't taste the matcher.
40:52No.
40:52I mean, for something that, you know, it's a log.
40:56If I threw it on the fire, the fire would chuck it back at me.
41:00It tastes all right.
41:02So you go to pitch to the retailers.
41:05That's correct.
41:05One of the retailers did ask for exclusivity.
41:08So the reason we didn't go for the exclusivity is because that was the first brand we spoke to for
41:12the day.
41:13Right.
41:13We didn't know what was going to happen.
41:14I felt it was risky.
41:15But you don't know whether taking the exclusive deal would have taken you home.
41:22That's correct.
41:23But we did walk away with 80,000 orders.
41:26Yeah.
41:27Malika, I heard that you spent a lot of time talking to Waitrose.
41:31Is that right?
41:31Yeah, that's correct.
41:33I actually worked there for four and a half years.
41:35So I just thought it made sense for them.
41:37They must have remembered you because they never gave any orders.
41:40Really disappointing.
41:41I mean, in my entire career, I've rarely missed a sales target.
41:44So, yeah, I was very, very disappointed.
41:46You wasted a lot of time with them because on three occasions they told you no and you kept going.
41:50OK.
41:52What do you think of the project manager?
41:54Good project manager?
41:55I do feel there was very little strategy.
41:57I also don't want to be a micromanager in this situation.
42:00I want to make sure that the team is being heard collectively.
42:04From my perspective, I would have just liked a little bit more direction and a bit more decisiveness.
42:09OK, let's move on.
42:10So, Jana, I made you the project manager.
42:13Because I wanted to see what your managerial skills were like.
42:18Yeah.
42:19And you went for the classic egg.
42:21Yeah.
42:21And it was your kind of rule.
42:23Everybody else wanted other things, did they?
42:25Yeah.
42:25And I overruled the decision because I felt that the egg was the best option to take.
42:28OK.
42:29So, your kitchen team was Anissa, who I believe was the sub team leader.
42:36OK.
42:37So, tell me what you did in the kitchen then.
42:38So, we kept the flavour quite simple of caramel, but we added white shortcake biscuits to look like craters.
42:43And then we added sprinkles around the ring to give it more colour and make it more kid friendly.
42:48You know what this reminds me of?
42:51Coronavirus.
42:54It looks like the coronavirus bug.
42:57Yeah.
42:59So, Easter Eds, whose brainstorm was that?
43:02So, that was my idea.
43:04I thought it would be good to have a character that can help us sell the product.
43:07Eds is the character from outer space, is he?
43:09Easter Ed, for sure, yeah.
43:10Yeah.
43:11For Christmas, we have Santa Claus.
43:13For Easter, I wanted to create someone who's got a positive role model for children, to be kind.
43:18Hmm.
43:18Bit of a dull box, really.
43:20Makes the Amazon delivery box look exciting, doesn't it?
43:23I think that was because when we were creating the box, Johnny did have a lot of objections.
43:27He didn't like a lot of the ideas, but he didn't seem to come up with any good suggestions.
43:31Any alternative.
43:32That's not the case.
43:33If it wasn't for me, it would have been called Ed's Easter Egg, which I don't think has any creativity.
43:37It might as well have been called Johnny's Jam.
43:39No, Easter.
43:41Yeah.
43:42Yeah.
43:43A chocolate taste from outer space, covered in rocks in a terrible box, I would say.
43:50Yeah.
43:51Yeah.
43:52I suppose I'd better try it then.
43:53Yeah.
43:55I don't know whether to eat it or get the bomb squad in to defuse it or something.
44:01Hold on.
44:02It just had a crater fallen on me.
44:11Mmm.
44:13It tastes very good.
44:19It was very Morris.
44:21Very, very good.
44:22I enjoyed this.
44:22Yeah.
44:22Very good.
44:23A bit of stock.
44:24Yeah.
44:28But it's super sweet.
44:30You're trying to drum up trade for your dentist business.
44:33Ideally not, no.
44:34Okay.
44:35So, next thing is you're going to go and pitch this to the retailers.
44:41Is that right?
44:42And from what I heard, you spent a lot of time on the kindness theme.
44:47Yeah.
44:48We wanted to sell the character behind the Easter Egg.
44:51Once they could get behind our ethos, then I thought we could easily sell the egg once
44:55because they tasted it and everyone really liked it.
44:57Okay.
44:58Yeah.
44:58So, was Jana a good project manager?
45:02I would like to say that Jana had clear instructions and the strategy.
45:06I feel like he'd done a good job as a project manager.
45:09The brief was clear.
45:10Yeah.
45:10I agree.
45:11I think Jana did a solid job as a project manager.
45:12Well, there you are.
45:13You've got some recognition from your...
45:15Sorry, Lord Sugar.
45:16Just wanted to say as well, I'm proud of everyone's contributions towards this.
45:20I know how much some people want it.
45:22I'm going to be honest with you.
45:23I'm not sure if I want it as bad as them.
45:26So, I think whether we win or lose, I would like to step away from the process.
45:31What?
45:32I would just like to take a step away from the process as I don't think it's a good fit
45:36for me.
45:36Oh, I see.
45:37You don't even know the results, do you?
45:40No.
45:41Or do you think you know the results?
45:44No.
45:44I'm not sure how they did, but I hope they did well.
45:46So, it is what it is.
45:50Erm...
45:51Okay.
45:52Well, Jana, surprising.
45:55You've thrown in the towel.
45:58Having said all that, let's find out how the teams did.
46:02So, Tim, can you tell me how your team did with the retailers?
46:07Well, they walked away with two sales and that secured them 9,000 units.
46:14Right.
46:15Okay.
46:15Karen, same thing.
46:17Well, they turned down an exclusive offer with one of the retailers for 150,000 units.
46:26But they still secured orders from five retailers of 89,750.
46:34Wow.
46:35Wow.
46:35So, they liked the green log.
46:37I was so wrong.
46:38I thought, who would want to buy that thing?
46:40I was only just getting my head around West Ham winning a trophy.
46:46Well done.
46:47That's a lot of orders.
46:49Erm...
46:49So, I'm sending you on a sweet treat of your own.
46:54I've organised a decadent luxury afternoon tea
46:57and an exclusive five-star Mayfair hotel.
47:02Oh, I love that.
47:02Enjoy yourselves and I'll see you on the next task.
47:05Off you go.
47:06Thank you, Lord Sugar.
47:07Thank you very much.
47:08Thank you, Tim.
47:08Well done.
47:10Good luck, guys.
47:11Aw, James.
47:13Let's go.
47:14Come on.
47:15Well done.
47:17Let's go.
47:22So, Janna, are you absolutely sure you want to do this?
47:26No.
47:26Come on.
47:27I...
47:27I am.
47:28OK.
47:29Well, look, you know, it's been a pleasure having you here.
47:32Thank you so much, because this has been an amazing opportunity.
47:34You seem a stand-up fellow.
47:37I wish you well.
47:38So, off you go.
47:39Thank you so much.
47:40Good luck.
47:41Good luck, Janna.
47:48Well, it is a shame that Janna decided to resign.
47:53But one of you will be leaving the process today.
47:57So, you still need to go and talk amongst yourself.
48:01And I'll see you back in the boardroom shortly.
48:03OK, off you go.
48:04Thank you, Lord Sugar.
48:14That was a bit of a shock, wasn't it, or a surprise,
48:17Janna throwing in the towel like he did.
48:19What's really disappointing for me is that so many people,
48:21including myself, would have given their left arm to be in this process,
48:24and he's just resigned.
48:25Well, I think he jumped before he was pushed.
48:28I mean, they have lost, not by a little bit, by a huge margin.
48:32Hmm.
48:36Fancy.
48:38This is lovely.
48:38Oh, they don't mess.
48:39There's a mouse there.
48:40Oh.
48:41I knew it was going to be a big risk to put myself on the line as a PM,
48:45but I just feel so relieved that actually we've won.
48:50Let's talk in.
48:51Anyone like some tea?
48:52Have you got any matcha tea?
48:54We do.
48:57Everyone loved the matcha tea.
48:58I'm glad my wife introduced it to me,
49:00thanks to her.
49:01We got another win.
49:02Oh, my days.
49:03Oh, wow.
49:04Where do you start from, the face or the bottom?
49:06I just ate the mouse's head.
49:08I kicked myself for not taking the exclusivity deal.
49:11I think I played it safe, but the result was good.
49:13So, yeah, I don't regret anything.
49:15Cheers, everyone.
49:16Cheers.
49:16Team Ascendancy.
49:18Yeah.
49:19Well done.
49:22Ultimately, Jana's not here.
49:24He cannot be held to account.
49:25So, let's talk about the people that are here
49:27and the things that they have done.
49:29It came down to sales.
49:30The other team got more than 89,000.
49:32We only got 9,000.
49:34We absolutely tried our hardest to sell on our team.
49:36Every time we were hit with the brick wall
49:38of it doesn't look good enough to put on a shelf.
49:40The retailers pretty much laughed at us and said,
49:43whoever designed it needs to be fired.
49:45So, I'm hoping whoever designs it gets fired.
49:47I think you guys are painting a picture
49:49to take the shade off yourself and put it onto us.
49:52Everyone said the packaging was lacking.
49:54You're focusing on the packaging as if it was a huge thing.
49:56But it was. It was a big thing.
49:58I think that Frederick and Johnny should be fired.
50:01They were in charge of the packaging and they sold nothing.
50:03The buyers couldn't get their head around the disconnect.
50:06We did this great pitch talking about kindness, our ethos,
50:09but there was none of that incorporated in our branding at all.
50:12Ultimately, it does come down to the fact
50:14that there was such a big disconnect with the branding
50:16and the message we went with our pitch.
50:18There was no connection whatsoever.
50:31Yes, Lord Trigger.
50:32Would you let the candidates come in, please?
50:47OK, ladies and gentlemen, Janna has gone.
50:53And I don't want to hear anything about Janna this and Janna that,
50:56unless it's a valid point, OK?
50:59Now, I got comments from some of the retailers.
51:04The message of kindness, it wasn't on the box
51:07and you kept resonating it in the pitch.
51:13So I'm trying to hone in on where this kindness thing came from.
51:20Did it come from you?
51:21The PM mentioned when we were practising for the pitch
51:24that he wanted me to focus on the ethos of Easter egg,
51:28which was kindness.
51:29And that's exactly what I did.
51:30You know, I mean, for me, you put the Easter bunny on the doll.
51:35You know, I mean, the Easter bunny is what everybody associates
51:39with Easter eggs, right?
51:41I think that's what the issue is.
51:42Ultimately, we went into the consumer research
51:45without understanding that the pitch were prepping,
51:48the fact that we were going to really hone in on this kindness piece,
51:52Santa Claus, et cetera.
51:53Listen, you all had a go at selling to the six retailers, right?
51:57When you get a negative response from one retailer,
52:04it must send a message to you.
52:06Let's change the narrative of what you're saying.
52:09But you carried on singing the same song.
52:13I feel like a lot of the retailers was put off by the look of the product
52:18and the egg itself.
52:19Just remind me again, who was responsible for putting those craters on?
52:24Whose idea was that?
52:25I was a part of the craters.
52:26I think...
52:27I was a part of the craters as well.
52:28I think we all chipped in.
52:29We all chipped in.
52:30It was a team contribution.
52:31It was.
52:31This looks like someone's tried to put some make-up on during take-off.
52:35Yes.
52:36But what I would like to say, Law Sugar,
52:38is that in terms of decoration, we had a call with the sub-team beforehand
52:41and they told us we want to plan it.
52:44And that's what we did in terms of the production of it and the decoration.
52:50Where do you think the fault lies?
52:52Who do you think is responsible?
52:54I thought it would be unfair to say it was with the branding team
52:56because we wasn't specified that we was going with this whole kindness theme.
53:00Who should be fired then?
53:02In my opinion, I think Anissa should be fired
53:04just due to the fact that she was the sub-team leader
53:07and this is the product that we was, you know...
53:09Anissa, who do you think should be fired?
53:11I think I would probably say Frederick
53:14just because he was in charge of, I guess, Easter Ed
53:17and that whole positive ethos.
53:18I know Janna is the one who told you to push it,
53:20but ultimately that is one of the key issues.
53:23Janna told me specifically,
53:25Frederick, I want you to speak about the ethos of Ed
53:27and how kind he is.
53:29I then did that.
53:30So then why am I now at fault
53:32of the failure of the task if I just did what Janna told me to do?
53:34Sorry, I raise concerns in the pitching team about the Christmas side.
53:37Johnny, who do you think should be fired?
53:40The brick wall when selling to the buyers was the look of the egg.
53:43They said it was atrocious.
53:44So whoever was responsible...
53:46I think the biggest brick wall is in the pitch.
53:48We're preaching positivity, Easter Ed, no more Easter Bunny,
53:52and that's the pitch.
53:53But you guys were doing the pitch.
53:55I think the girls were in denial of how bad it was.
53:56No, we think it is a bit messy, we agree.
53:59The best part is also the taste,
54:01and that is what we're responsible for as well.
54:02Yeah, but before someone tastes it,
54:04they need to look at it and want to buy it.
54:05Even though the branding isn't great,
54:07the egg is awful.
54:08I think if you look at the front of that box...
54:09But the retailers, they love the egg.
54:11Tim, you was at these presentations, is that right?
54:13I was.
54:14So they're biased, this lot here.
54:17Yeah.
54:17So I want to ask you a question.
54:19On balance, was it the egg or was it the branding?
54:23Overall, across all of the different conversations,
54:26what was most disturbing for the buyers
54:28was the confusion around the kindness concept.
54:31Yeah.
54:32But then help me.
54:34I've got a dilemma here, ladies and gentlemen.
54:39I'm trying to work out of the six of you here,
54:43who can I actually say is responsible?
54:50You say it's them, they say it's you.
54:57And Frederick, again, says that he followed
55:01the project manager's remit.
55:03Is that right?
55:04Pretty much.
55:05They're blaming me because...
55:06It's just yes or no.
55:07Yeah.
55:08Yeah.
55:09And you see, on that basis,
55:12while I don't want to use Janna as an excuse,
55:17Janna set the foundations for the failure of this task.
55:23This kindness thing was really his theme
55:27right the way throughout.
55:29Yeah.
55:31I can't pin it on anyone else,
55:33to be perfectly frank with you.
55:35Yeah.
55:40Um...
55:46So...
55:48No, all six of you go back to the house.
55:53Yeah.
55:54That's what I've concluded.
55:55So, I'll see you all on the next task, OK?
55:59Thank you, Lord Sugar.
56:10Thank you, Lord Sugar.
56:12Hard to go any other way.
56:14No credibility, Dan.
56:16I, you know, lose my credibility on this one,
56:18just picking one of them out of the bat.
56:20Mm.
56:23I think reality's gonna sink in soon
56:25when we potentially lose one, two or three today.
56:28It's gonna be a much quieter house.
56:29Do you think a triple firing's on the cards?
56:31I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility.
56:33You know, I think there are potentially three people at fault.
56:37Oh!
56:40Oh, my God! Johnny!
56:41Yes, brother!
56:42Johnny!
56:43Yes, brother!
56:47Oh, my God!
56:49That's for everyone!
56:50Everyone for Janna, right?
56:52Yeah.
56:53He couldn't pinpoint it on anyone,
56:55or any of the teams,
56:56and in the end he said,
56:57well, Janna did lead it,
56:58and we all followed his brief,
57:00and he's not there really to say his piece,
57:02so then he let us all go.
57:04Well, it's nice to see you all back
57:06and see some smiley faces.
57:10Now, 13 candidates remain.
57:15The search for Lord Sugar's next business partner
57:19continues.
57:21Next time...
57:22I'm sending you to Tokyo.
57:25Wow!
57:26This is unreal.
57:28Thrills...
57:29Here we go!
57:30We are in the air.
57:32Spills...
57:34I'm so sorry, sir, for that.
57:36And in the boardroom...
57:37This has got to be a joke.
57:38It's amateur.
57:39A one-way ticket.
57:40You're fired.
57:41The first time...
57:42Uh...
58:10The first time...
58:11The first time...
58:11The first time...
58:11The first time...
58:11...
