Was the rating justified? Grant & Danny weigh the ranking and compare him to other GMs around the NFL.
Transcript
00:01with Danny I'm Grant this is the fan ranking of NFL GMs dropped caught your attention now I've
00:08been instructed not to look at it so that we could play a little guessing game here as to
00:13where Adam Peters came in yes indeed this is via uh Roto Pats this is Roto World's GM ranking so
00:19again this is maybe from a fantasy slant but they cover football and they're talking um you know
00:24team building and the like they've got rationale for everything so you guys have seen the teaser
00:29for this and you know that Adam Peters is not in the top 10 so if we want to do
00:34a little game show
00:35type music here Darius if you have it ready any GM ranking by the way right now should probably start
00:41with either Howie Roseman or John Schneider and it does and they're both in the top five yeah yes
00:46yes they are indeed so I'll go through the your your top of the board number one Howie Roseman
00:51number two John Schneider ta-da so again I go okay this list has something going uh Sean McVay
00:56slash Les Snead in the three spot for the Rams Eric DeCosta with the Ravens in the four spot
01:01Andy Reid Brett Veach with the Chiefs uh Brian Gutekunst for the Packers Brad Holmes Lions
01:07Shanahan Lynch 49ers that's the one I'd quibble with back to you Grant Gutekunst is a little high
01:11for me yep he's definitely been solid I would say and like the Aaron Rodgers thing worked out on the
01:16back end but six is very high I think Brad Holmes could be higher that's why I'd bump him up
01:21a few
01:21spots GM of the Lions has hit some home runs in the draft uh number nine Nick Casario the Texans
01:26which
01:26by the way is funny because a few years ago he was the laughingstock and now here they are pretty
01:30competitive they hired that guy David Cully as a head coach yeah that was like really bad thing
01:35that didn't work um and they went through three coaches in three years or something I've never
01:38seen but they landed on D'Amico Ryans and he kind of saved their bacon it seems yes indeed and
01:42number
01:4210 is Sean Payton slash George Patton not the general uh but the GM for the Broncos I'm fine with
01:48that
01:48that's a really good roster that they've put together why do they have some coaches listed that's weird
01:53so that's when a guy's got enough power that he's kind of the brain trust too that it's more
01:57in tandem so you think Brett Veach does run stuff Andy Reid has a pretty big influence same with
02:02Kyle Shanahan that makes it but I feel like Les Snead calls the shots with the Rams I mean I'm
02:06sure
02:06Sean McVay has influence but did you see the press conference I was gonna say that Ty Simpson press
02:13conference tells me it's a different power structure there so I ask you gentlemen we've got Grant
02:17we've got Darius we've got Strobes and we've got Tobes nope Toby cheated so he can't he can't
02:23Tobes is an eligible I told you he was gonna do it Darius by the way did I tell you
02:26he was gonna
02:26look at and cheat yeah so Tobes already knows so Tobes is out not to look at specifically uh so
02:33he
02:33had already looked at it before Danny could say hey don't look at it so I'm gonna rule that's not
02:38cheating that's just a man who likes information okay I mean that's one way the other way is like
02:45blatant cheating but I see what you're saying too right yeah uh I asked you gentlemen where does
02:50Adam Peters rank on this list so we all we know is he's not top 10 we know that because
02:54we saw that
02:54that preview that was going around that that that graphic he's not in the top 10 year one they made
02:59the NFC championship game if this thing came out he'd be pretty high year two was an absolute disaster
03:04I think based on the combination of like great year bad year middle of the pack checks out so I'm
03:11gonna say Adam Peters comes in at number 17 17 Grant is in at 17 dares to you I I
03:18just don't think
03:19that Adam Peters has had enough hits in the draft to make it across the top 20 so I'm going
03:27to go
03:27just under 20 and say he's at 22 22 locking up there's 22 can I ask real quick as a
03:34follow-up to
03:37you said this was done by a fantasy guy does it say what they're basing this on is it draft
03:42history
03:43is it just roster put together because if you look at like skill position on offense right now
03:47Washington's bottom seven or eight no sure it's um it is a comprehensive so it's like not just hey
03:53how are their what's their wide receiver three situation it's a front office evaluation aka how
03:58competitive is the team what's the plan what's the path how well they've executed against it etc you know
04:03it's doing it happens to be again a fantasy outlet in rotor world but they're doing a football article
04:07here if that makes sense strobes bottom half of the rankings or bottom third I should say I think
04:13is where he's going to end up I think they're going to ding him from the 2024 draft class outside
04:17of
04:18Jaden Daniels just I think Ben Sennett in the second round is going to ding him down a little bit
04:22Luke McCaffrey not so sure about him at this point I feel like he checks in at 21 on this
04:27list I know
04:28it's right next to Darius but that's what I'm feeling 21 for strobes your answer
04:33Adam Peters comes in at 24th on this list here's the rationale Adam Peters went all in in 2025 he
04:41is
04:41currently at the lobby ATM getting ready to buy back in that was a bust of a campaign there was
04:45no way to sugarcoat it's nice to have a young star quarterback but you probably aren't going to win
04:49the Super Bowl if you lack skill player depth offensive line depth backfill depth and high-end
04:53defensive talent commanders fans can only hope it was a painful but necessary lesson in NFL building
04:57there are no shortcuts that was felt most acutely during April's draft where last year's deficit
05:02spending left the commandos with only two top 100 selections just one of which came in the top 70
05:08that would be number seven overall pick Sonny Stiles and meat and potatoes addition that at least
05:11showed Peters was no longer under the impression he was one player away that followed a free agency
05:16where he loaded up on regular defensive contributors back to basics you could say humbling but there's
05:20nothing wrong with getting the message if you're going to put it all on the table you better at least
05:24have the cards I think they're undervaluing him a little bit you can say I'm overrating the fluky
05:33probably in hindsight NFC championship game but when you've been a GM for two years and you've got a
05:37conference title game under your belt you're batting 500 at getting to the final four in the NFL
05:42I think you probably got to be higher than 24 and yeah last year stunk there's no doubt about that
05:47but
05:47your quarterback was hurt most of the season the biggest decision he's made since he got here
05:52it looks like that's still a pretty significant win right I mean taking Jaden Daniels at number two
05:58Williams was gone it was Daniels May Penix all those other guys McCarthy you took Jaden Daniels
06:03but you could quibble over Daniels in May and two three and what that'll end up being but it looks
06:09like so far that's a gigantic win for Adam Peters the biggest decision he's made that's worth five or
06:14six of the other ones I would think that is that is a big one that that I think puts
06:17the thumb on the
06:18scale versus everything else because maybe you could say too I'm just thinking out loud sorry
06:23the devil's advocate would be well you couldn't have screwed that up that much it doesn't seem
06:28like you picked second and there were three really good quarterbacks you know Williams played well
06:32this year Daniels has had the best season of any of the three May was just in the Super Bowl
06:36so it's
06:38almost like saying how much credit do you give the Nats for the Strasburg or the Harper pick kind of
06:41thing yeah so I think if you two of those three quarterback selections that were possible there
06:45you would have hit a home run I think I think May would have been great I think Daniels is
06:49great so
06:50that's kind of my view but it basically gives a ton of benefit for that and the rosy view is
06:56everything every button he pushed worked well every button he pushed worked once and then they said oh
07:01this is who we are and it failed so miserably I think they got away with it fluky I think
07:05is the
07:05word again I had fun too I guess you could also argue it's not fluky when you have a great
07:09young
07:09quarterback but their personnel decision making their huge amount of salary cap space they're rolling
07:15over and they're still deploying in this view here one of the weaker skill groups on an offensive line
07:20with questions at center and and some other places and you've gotten to the point where maybe you're
07:24okay on defense in three years hard to argue with with some of the logic there in my view so
07:29whether
07:29it's 24th or 22nd or 20th it's not exactly the rosy picture it was after year one Grant and Danny
07:35on the
