00:01He's one of the state's most notorious pedophiles,
00:05responsible for the sexual abuse of boys at the Brighton Surf Lifesaving Club in the 1980s.
00:11The former magistrate has been in custody since receiving a 25-year sentence in 2001,
00:16but when his sentence ends on the 4th of June,
00:19he'll enter six months home detention under electronic monitoring.
00:24The decision was made in the South Australian Supreme Court,
00:27where Justice Rachel Gray approved his release under strict conditions.
00:32They include not contacting or going near children,
00:35not going within 50 metres of a school or playground, and not using the internet.
00:40He will also need to have medical assessments
00:43to determine whether he's at risk of committing further sexual offences.
00:47The Attorney General, Kaya Maher, welcomed the strict conditions,
00:51saying many would remember the horrific crimes of the deplorable predator.
00:54He says the government's priority in the case
00:57has been the safety and protection of the community.
01:00Liddy has been eligible for parole since 2019, but it has never been granted.

01:07and the head of the parole board has accused him of engaging in victim blaming
