00:02Sitting in the blood donor chair, Trevor Bergman doesn't flinch an inch.
00:08He's a seasoned giver.
00:10The 59-year-old police officer has donated blood at all 85 lifeblood centres across the country.
00:17His quest was sparked by a holiday in Perth 10 years ago.
00:22When I went past the blood bank there and donated there, then I just thought,
00:26well, I'm on holiday here, what a good way to see Australia.
00:30Over a decade, he's travelled 178,000 kilometres and donated 75 litres of plasma from Cairns to Canberra,
00:40where he's given blood with the Governor-General, but sometimes it didn't quite go to plan.

00:59given to nearly 48,000 pregnant women each year,
01:03to protect their babies from hemolytic disease of the newborn.
01:07Very nice to know that in a small way I helped to help the community.
01:11While Trevor might have gone above and beyond,
01:14Lifeblood is encouraging everyone who can to roll up their sleeve amid an increasing demand for blood and plasma donations.
01:23Supplies have been at their lowest in almost a decade, due to a prolonged cold and flu season.
01:30We really are asking people to make the time every single day, because the need for blood never takes a
01:35break.
01:35And for Trevor, well, he has no plans to stop donating any time soon.
01:40You can help everybody and at one stage you might actually help yourself.
01:45That's a commitment worth bottling.
