Well the back and forth continues ahead of what's shaping up to be a preview of a boxing contest between Tianna Guy and Shontel Adams. So far conversations have centered around the purse, but now the teams have hit a stumbling block in the weight class for the fight.
Transcript
00:00Chantal Adams walks around at approximately 147 pounds, but to fight Tiana Guy, she may
00:07need to drop 17 pounds. It's not an uncommon thing for fighters to do once given the appropriate
00:13time to manage the weight loss process.
00:16The question is, how badly does she want the fight? There is some measure of risk. Will
00:22Adams possess the same knockout power that gave her the win in her pro debut? Adams
00:27has therefore proposed a catch weight of 135 pounds. Her opponent, Tiana Guy, has fought
00:44at 130 for the majority of her career. Will 3-5 pounds cost her speed? While for Guy, speed
00:51is not that big of an issue, as is the timing of the fight.
00:55My kingdom is in 130. That is where I reside. I have never professed to be a 145, a 165,
01:03a 155 champion. No, no, no. 130, that has always been my lane, especially now going into Olympic
01:09preparations. So I'm not going to leave my agenda to accommodate this. This.
01:16What seems certain is that you will likely hear about the final outcome.
01:20This will be the first time a professional boxing contract will be negotiated in public.
01:25Just because of the fact that is the way you approach and initiate this entire conversation.
01:31I like to meet people where they are to know. You see, if you have message me privately,
01:35forget me, manager, coach, any of the supporting staff and say, hey, I want to fight Tiana.
01:41We have a private discussion. We agree to the terms and then we run it out to the public.
01:45But no, you won't wait until I end up in the Dominican Republic, representing the country
01:49and boom, drop that. And drop it in a certain way. I could not immediately respond.
01:54So no, you can't play the victim card. I'm not taking that victim card.
01:58Let's let you down.
01:59Thank you for listening.
