00:01:14It's just finding that inevitable mistake and making the most of it.
00:01:17Do you know anyone who would want to shoot you?
00:01:20In the West Midlands, the major crime team follows every lead.
00:01:25You can see the holes in the curtains just as the bullets have come through and then we've got the
00:01:30damage in the coving.
00:01:32Specialist detectives trained to spot the most subtle of clues.
00:01:36It can be little things.
00:01:37You see what they were wearing, what kind of haircut they had on that day.
00:01:42Piecing together the truth.
00:01:45Oh, that's a good one.
00:01:46And never giving up.
00:01:48Oh, please show me your hands now.
00:01:50Show me your hands.
00:01:51Until those responsible are brought to justice.
00:01:56We've got to be there dealing with it quickly.
00:02:01Our response will be as robust as the offence itself.
00:02:29We've got to be there dealing with it quickly.
00:02:34Oh, bro, please stay on the floor.
00:02:36We need someone quick, man.
00:02:39I ain't having this kid die on this.
00:02:46Vehicle rocks up at the manor.
00:02:47It's got one person, critical condition.
00:02:50And there's damage to the windscreen.
00:02:52Possible gunshot.
00:02:53In Warsaw, five men arrive at the manor hospital in a silver VW Passat.
00:02:59One with gunshot wounds, the others beaten and stabbed.
00:03:03Right, listen to me.
00:03:04Weapons in the back there, look.
00:03:06So, put your gloves on, close these doors for me.
00:03:17Across town, police speed to the scene
00:03:20after the victims report being attacked
00:03:23by a gang wielding machetes, bats and a gun.
00:03:30There's debris in the roads.
00:03:32You've got another vehicle involved or anything?
00:03:35I don't know, mate.
00:03:38Confirmed discharge?
00:03:40I think that's it, though.
00:03:42They say he's got control over his arm.
00:03:44Multiple people are in hospital with life-threatening injuries.
00:03:48The priority is to preserve evidence
00:03:51and build a clearer picture of what happened.
00:03:54We've got that there, and then literally,
00:03:57right by where your boot is, that's the first drops of blood.
00:04:01That's a wing mirror from another car.
00:04:03That car's grey, that's both got his wing mirrors on.
00:04:06So, the other car is possibly going to have
00:04:08front-side damage and...
00:04:11..missing a wing mirror.
00:04:13This is inside Passat.
00:04:15I have a baseball bat, flick knife, heavy blood-stained hammer.
00:04:19I'm really a seat.
00:04:21Yeah.
00:04:22What's the situation at the hospital?
00:04:24College.
00:04:25By the centre of it.
00:04:31A major incident is declared
00:04:33as a medical team rushes to triage the victims.
00:04:36Do you know what his injuries are?
00:04:38Head injuries.
00:04:39They just wheeled him straight round.
00:04:40Have you been hit or, like, bleeding?
00:04:43There's a hammer in the back of the car?
00:04:44Yes.
00:04:44I don't know.
00:04:46So, he's the first victim.
00:04:48Another victim's already gone to A&E with a head injury.
00:04:51Has he walked there himself?
00:04:52No, he came to be in a wheelchair
00:04:56and he's heading to a head injury quite heavily.
00:05:00There's another gentleman there.
00:05:01He's got a stab wound and I don't know what on his leg.
00:05:04I think he's going to stab.
00:05:06You want to get up?
00:05:07Yeah.
00:05:08Stay with the vehicle.
00:05:10We'll pop this round your arm, mate.
00:05:11It's OK.
00:05:12He's been shot with a rear passenger seat behind the drone.
00:05:15That's where he's been sat?
00:05:17Yeah.
00:05:18He's got quite a big lump in his arm on the opposite end,
00:05:21so there's no exit where you can feel, like,
00:05:22something solid at the end.
00:05:24Do you know anyone who potentially would want to shoot you?
00:05:47I'm going to record that, is that all right?
00:05:55Yeah.
00:05:57What's on for you, Ben?
00:05:59Somebody fixed the car, or should I?
00:06:00Er, I don't know.
00:06:03Shall we go?
00:06:05Somebody was grabbing the finger?
00:06:09That camera, if that one works, that'll be perfect.
00:06:12That is facing...
00:06:13It's got three.
00:06:14There's two on the door, and the one there, it's got everything.
00:06:24Due to the seriousness of the attack,
00:06:26Major Crime Team 1 has taken charge of the investigation.
00:06:30From our perspective in Major Crime,
00:06:33when a gang-related incident involving weapons,
00:06:35serious violence takes place,
00:06:37we've got to be there dealing with it quickly,
00:06:40and it's now our responsibility to reassure the community
00:06:44that our response will be as robust as the offence itself.
00:06:48Rosie Downs, who heads up the CCTV team,
00:06:51is reviewing the first available footage.
00:06:53So, 23 minutes past 11,
00:06:59we've got the victim's car parking up.
00:07:04So, you start to see the headlights coming across,
00:07:07and it's then that the two vehicles crash into the victim's car.
00:07:23So, you can see here,
00:07:24when the victim's trying desperately to get out,
00:07:26the car is trapped between the wall,
00:07:30and so as he's trying to open the door,
00:07:34it's just not possible.
00:07:38So, you can see here, multiple weapons.
00:07:44So, a gunman is hiding in the shadows just here
00:07:47as he and Ben comes round.
00:07:50He's masked up, hood up.
00:07:52It's going to be quite difficult to identify who that person is.
00:07:58So, you can see, this is the gun.
00:08:00It looks like a pistol of some kind,
00:08:03pointing into the back of the car.
00:08:07And the discharge happens.
00:08:13The screams that you can hear inside the car are...
00:08:21..horrible.
00:08:24Driver goes to start the car.
00:08:26Car doesn't start,
00:08:28probably from the impact of the crash into the victim's car.
00:08:34..he gets out, holding this weapon here.
00:08:39He then gets back in,
00:08:41and for some reason,
00:08:42he puts the weapon into the car and then runs away.
00:08:46That sheer panic of, right, the car doesn't start, what do we do?
00:08:50Potentially, it's going through their mind.
00:08:52That, right, we're going to have to run away on foot.
00:08:54I've got a weapon in my hand.
00:08:55I need to get rid of this weapon.
00:08:57And so, that's potentially why they've left that in the vehicle.
00:09:01It's a crucial mistake.
00:09:06Detective Inspector Francis Nock
00:09:07will be leading the manhunt for those involved.
00:09:10The operation is called Cobblestone.
00:09:13This is by far the most actively involved firearm discharge
00:09:19that we've dealt with,
00:09:20in terms of the fact you've got nine offenders in two vehicles,
00:09:22all of whom playing an active, destructive role in this job.
00:09:25So, everybody's armed.
00:09:27Everybody's got a role to play.
00:09:29The offence is extreme in its nature.
00:09:32The violence is of the highest possible level.
00:09:35Realistically, there's no bigger investigation
00:09:37that's going to come along in a major crime environment
00:09:39in terms of the numbers involved, the level of planning,
00:09:42and the sheer severity and ferocity of the attack.
00:09:46But you can never make any assumptions as to the motive
00:09:49before you've got to the evidence.
00:09:51You can tell by the way the vehicles approached
00:09:53that it was a very planned attack,
00:09:55which would make sure they were all trapped in the car,
00:09:57that weapons were such that certain weapons
00:09:59were designed to smash windows,
00:10:01certain weapons were then designed to stab and slash into the car
00:10:04to cause as much damage as they possibly can.
00:10:06And this was all a softening-up exercise
00:10:08for the gunman to then reveal himself
00:10:10and shoot into the car at point-blank range.
00:10:13We obviously see shooting stabbings, you know, quite often,
00:10:17some of them often quite violent or shocking,
00:10:21but I think even when probably all of us first watched that footage,
00:10:24we were like, well, like, that's unbelievable,
00:10:28but obviously nine of them have done that to five individuals in the car.
00:10:33They could have died.
00:10:35I agree.
00:10:36What's happened in this job is a group that thinks they're absolutely untouchable,
00:10:41thinks they can do whatever they like on a public street,
00:10:44clearly thinks the police aren't going to catch them,
00:10:46clearly thinks that they are way above and beyond the law,
00:10:49and I think this is probably a representation of a group
00:10:53that's been committing acts of violence for a long time
00:10:57and potentially getting away with it to the point where they've done this.
00:11:06With multiple attackers involved in what looks like a carefully coordinated ambush,
00:11:11Major Crime Team 1 now faces the challenge of identifying
00:11:15and locating all the gang members before they strike again.
00:11:19Time's ticking right from the start.
00:11:21We've got to identify those people who have committed that offence
00:11:24and bringing them to justice quickly.
00:11:27At this stage, their identities are all disguised,
00:11:30they're all wearing dark clothing.
00:11:31It's not immediately obvious who is who.
00:11:35It is a challenge, the scope of which I've never faced before.
00:11:40It puts you under pressure.
00:11:42Yeah.
00:11:44Yeah.
00:11:51Major Crime Team 1 are searching for a gang responsible for a brutal attack in Walsall
00:11:56that left four men seriously injured and another in a coma,
00:11:59fighting for his life.
00:12:10New evidence suggests the ambush was a retaliation over drugs territory.
00:12:15And now, Major Crime Team 1 fear reprisals and a wider drugs war.
00:12:22Across the West Midlands, the underground drugs economy is worth 9.4 million pounds every year.
00:12:28Street dealers can flip a kilo of heroin or cocaine bought for around £25,000 into £100,000,
00:12:37making it extremely profitable.
00:12:39The reason why the gang's feud is normally drugs and the money that comes from drug dealing.
00:12:46Violence often erupts when one drugs gang tries to muscle in on another's patch.
00:12:52In some areas, you've got gangs who are very postcode based.
00:12:56Some of these gangs are fighting each other for territory.
00:13:00We have to be on top of our game all the time to try and keep on top of it.
00:13:04Show me hands, mate! Show me hands! Show me hands!
00:13:08Don't show me hands!
00:13:12Don't show me hands, man!
00:13:13With the threat of further violence looming, Francis and his team are under increasing pressure
00:13:17to solve the case quickly.
00:13:19You know, the CCTV speaks for itself in terms of the ferocity and sustained nature of the attack.
00:13:25You know, as soon as you see that kind of job, you understand the importance of solving it.
00:13:29You understand the importance of identifying this group that's involved.
00:13:33Francis and his colleague, DC Kosh Shourish,
00:13:36want to understand more about what took place,
00:13:39so are making their way to the scene to walk through the events.
00:13:42We're basically driving the route now
00:13:43that the offending vehicles took into the offence.
00:13:46They knew where the victims were.
00:13:50They knew how they were going to arrange the attack cars,
00:13:52how they were going to smash into them
00:13:54and what they were going to do when they got there.
00:13:58They are particularly focused on the chaotic moments
00:14:01during the attack.
00:14:03So this is the scene of the incident.
00:14:06What we have here is the victim's vehicle
00:14:09is parked here on the double yellow lines.
00:14:14It's parked just in between these two cameras here.
00:14:18What we then see on CCTV is two vehicles which both ram it.
00:14:24The first vehicle approaches from this sort of bank over here.
00:14:31and the second vehicle approaches from the front.
00:14:38Two of them leave on foot.
00:14:40Yeah.
00:14:40And from CCTV we can tell that they've sort of taken a right here
00:14:44and they ran down here.
00:14:46Mm-hm.
00:14:48And this is in there kind of panic having totaled the vehicle.
00:14:52So...
00:14:53Yes.
00:14:53We've got the profile wearing the shorts.
00:14:55Yeah.
00:14:55Who just stands on this corner here.
00:14:57And, of course, that second profile
00:14:59who runs down this road there.
00:15:02While Francis and Kosh examine the crime scene,
00:15:05Rosie and her colleague Indi Basra
00:15:07track the suspect's route as they flee on foot.
00:15:11So we've got this camera that points here
00:15:13and this camera that points in here.
00:15:15Yeah.
00:15:16And it's from both cameras that we start to get
00:15:18a good kind of facial image of him.
00:15:21And it's from this camera that captures him shouting
00:15:26to the car.
00:15:27That actually would capture that really good facial image.
00:15:30Did he just jump in the back of the car?
00:15:31Yeah.
00:15:31So he gets into the back of the car
00:15:33and obviously at that point there's nine people in that car.
00:15:35Yeah.
00:15:35He's the ninth person getting in there.
00:15:38So...
00:15:38And you can actually see the struggle caught on the camera.
00:15:41You can see that the car is really busy
00:15:44and they struggle to shut the door behind him.
00:15:47You know, he's just run.
00:15:48He's breathing heavy.
00:15:49Maybe he needs the covering off his nose and mouth.
00:15:52Difficult to say.
00:15:53But either way,
00:15:55very good that he's done it
00:15:56because it gives us a facial image to work from,
00:15:58albeit it's blurry.
00:16:00Once we know who we're looking at,
00:16:02that's going to assist us without a shadow of a doubt.
00:16:06Despite capturing the first clear image of a suspect,
00:16:09the investigation team faces a major problem.
00:16:14Footage of the incident has leaked online.
00:16:20I would say the public reaction to this gives us a level of pressure
00:16:24that we hadn't previously seen.
00:16:26You've got an offence which is a really significant offence anyway.
00:16:32And there's a level of panic.
00:16:36And uncertainty in the community that we really haven't seen before.
00:16:47Across the West Midlands, criminal gangs are locked in a battle for control over the most lucrative territories.
00:16:54Expanding beyond cities like Birmingham, they push their operations into smaller towns and rural communities to maximize profit.
00:17:05Using dedicated phone numbers,
00:17:07gangs send street dealers to supply crack cocaine and heroin,
00:17:11a system known as county lines.
00:17:14As they expand, gangs move in on rival patches,
00:17:18using intimidation and extreme violence to seize control of the customer base.
00:17:22And with nearly 400 active drugs lines in the West Midlands at any one time,
00:17:28police are under intense pressure to crack down on street dealers and curb the violence.
00:17:42A known drug dealer was stabbed on the 17th of March, was life-threatening.
00:17:47There have been several retaliatory attacks in relation to his stabbing.
00:17:50Detective Sergeant Gavin McGrath is part of the county lines task force,
00:17:55hunting the street dealers who flood neighbourhoods with drugs and violence.
00:18:00Drug dealing is a violent trade. It's competitive. They all want a slice of the pie.
00:18:05If another group comes in, that can cause tensions between the groups
00:18:08and it is common for violence to occur in certain territories.
00:18:12So, Bronford Lane, Tyburn and Bronford.
00:18:14Yeah, right. So, the junction at Tyburn and Bronford, just north of it,
00:18:18we were on a policing operation about two to three weeks ago.
00:18:21It was just a constant flurry of drug users, you know, waiting for deals.
00:18:24So, we think that's a regular location people will come to.
00:18:27So, when you're out and about, please have a peer.
00:18:29If you see people hanging around, but it was like shooting fish in a barrel, wasn't it?
00:18:32There were so many people turning up.
00:18:34Right, the time is now six o'clock.
00:18:36Can you all be kitted and ready to go by quarter past no later, please?
00:18:43The task force is set up to deal with county drug lines that sell heroin and crack cocaine.
00:18:48The link between drug dealing in respect of that class of drugs and violence is particularly high.
00:18:54So, that is our remit.
00:18:58We effectively play whack-a-mole.
00:19:00We're constantly up against new dealers all the time.
00:19:02So, when we conclude an operation, it's pretty quickly we get another one referred in to us to have a
00:19:08look at.
00:19:08But we cover the whole Fort area, so that could take us anywhere, Wolverhampton, Coventry, into other Fort areas.
00:19:15But, Erdington is a priority for us at the moment.
00:19:18Gavin and his team have uncovered a major drugs network supplying crack cocaine and heroin to Erdington.
00:19:25A suburb five miles outside Birmingham with around 20,000 residents.
00:19:30Erdington itself is a busy, urbanised area.
00:19:35There's a big user base there for drug dealers to tap into.
00:19:46Having identified a suspected drug dealer, Gavin and his team move in to make an arrest.
00:20:00We've got a pharmacy here.
00:20:02Let's have a look.
00:20:04Yeah, that's mushrooms.
00:20:08So, that'll be...
00:20:10Let's have a look at that.
00:20:11I don't think that's crack.
00:20:13That's what potentially meth that is.
00:20:15Oh, wow.
00:20:16We've got MDMA.
00:20:18That'll be coke.
00:20:20That's resin.
00:20:21Yeah, if we bag that up, mate, yeah.
00:20:24Made a tidy profit today, pal.
00:20:29That's not cannabis, that's spice, that is, I think.
00:20:31Oh, yeah. Yeah, so...
00:20:36It might be...
00:20:38Normally, when it looks like that, that's spice, so I'd bag that separately,
00:20:41because I think that's going to be spice, mate.
00:20:45We'll take his phone.
00:20:48He's got 23%, so I'll get that backed up and prepped.
00:20:51We'll take that with us, and we'll collect you from wherever you may be.
00:20:55The suspect, believed to be part of an Albanian drugs gang,
00:20:58is arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply,
00:21:02and will be taken into custody for further questioning.
00:21:06County lines, yeah, PIC from Erdinssen for possession of intent to supply.
00:21:16Oh, yeah, hot drink for you.
00:21:18Yeah.
00:21:21A county line is a telephone number that has been set up
00:21:25in order to facilitate the supply of drugs.
00:21:28They're running all over the country, supplying drugs into various areas of the UK.
00:21:34So what we chase is the telephone number, who is controlling it.
00:21:38And when we do our enquiries, the suspects then emerge.
00:21:43And that's where the investigation starts.
00:21:58Major Crime Team One are leading the investigation into a shocking and violent ambush in Warsaw,
00:22:04where a gang targeted their rivals in an alleged dispute over drugs territory.
00:22:12Four of the victims have serious injuries, and the other is in a coma.
00:22:16DI Francis Nock leads the hunt for those responsible,
00:22:19as the leaked footage online threatens to undermine the investigation.
00:22:26With the CCTV being on social media, there's an added pressure for us to get a result.
00:22:31But also, there's a lot of people in the community who want to help us,
00:22:34who want to give us information, who don't want this sort of violence on their street.
00:22:41So what we've ended up with is a huge volume of names presented as possible offenders,
00:22:47that we now need to work through.
00:22:52With the threat of a full-blown drugs war looming,
00:22:56detectives are in a race against time to solve the case before the violence escalates.
00:23:0127 people named as responsible for a job that only nine people did.
00:23:06What's the veracity of all that intelligence?
00:23:08Where are the nine responsible hiding within that 27, even if they are included at all?
00:23:13At this point in time, there's a lot of work to do.
00:23:15It's been a massive challenge for us.
00:23:18I'm now responsible for the investigation of upwards of 20 individuals
00:23:22to try and narrow down who's actually responsible for this.
00:23:25I'm hoping some of the names are in there who have actually done it.
00:23:29But at this stage, we don't know if they're involved.
00:23:34While Francis and Kosh now have several suspects to pursue,
00:23:39Rosie uncovers further footage of the attackers fleeing the scene.
00:23:45Post-events, we've trapped the car now to its end point.
00:23:49So this is the car coming away from Reeswood Lane.
00:23:52So then we've got nine away on foot.
00:23:55So this camera.
00:23:58One.
00:24:02Two, three, four, five.
00:24:07Six, seven, eight, nine.
00:24:09All in line. All holding weapons.
00:24:12Detectives have tracked the nine suspects further.
00:24:15And new footage from a few streets away from the attack
00:24:19could be key to identifying those responsible.
00:24:22And then this is the Bentley Moore Club where our two getaway vehicles are parked.
00:24:27So obviously the quality of the footage here isn't great.
00:24:31But I do have a little bit of clothing from the scene to work with.
00:24:37So some of them here.
00:24:39One's wearing shorts.
00:24:40And there's only one person at the actual offence wearing shorts.
00:24:45Got dark-coloured trousers here with a light-coloured marking.
00:24:48So we need to do a bit of work now to identify which profiles these are.
00:24:53And so we can then put them into whichever car.
00:25:04CCTV reveals the gang meeting in the car park of the Bentley Moore Social Club,
00:25:10both before and after the attack.
00:25:12So Francis and Kosh head there to investigate further.
00:25:16We're coming up here on the...
00:25:17..on the left is the Bentley Moore Social Club.
00:25:24So it was this camera, wasn't it, that captured...
00:25:26It would be that camera, yes.
00:25:27..the main footage of what we could see.
00:25:30Which was fortunate, wasn't it?
00:25:31Because they park kind of here, almost in front of it.
00:25:35As well as CCTV footage,
00:25:38a major piece of evidence has also been recovered from the scene.
00:25:46What they found was a machete discarded in the bushes here...
00:25:52..which was blood-stained.
00:25:55So probably as they got back, back out of the attack vehicles...
00:25:58..and into the getaway cars, you know, they're handling a lot of weapons,
00:26:01a lot of machetes, bats, they've got a firearm to worry about.
00:26:04And some mistakes were made.
00:26:07The discarded machete could be crucial.
00:26:09Once suspects are identified,
00:26:11DNA and fingerprints may link them directly to the attack.
00:26:15Investigations where criminals make absolutely no mistakes...
00:26:19..are incredibly difficult or impossible to solve.
00:26:21So it's just sometimes about finding...
00:26:24..finding that inevitable mistake and making the most of it.
00:26:33So the Bentley Moore Club footage gives us so much in terms of
00:26:36the organisation of the offence.
00:26:41We know they're going to be meeting somewhere,
00:26:44and that place is the Bentley Moore Club.
00:26:45It gives us vehicles and gives us a start and an end point
00:26:49for all of our different suspects.
00:26:50And it really sets the tone for the investigation
00:26:54in terms of where we go from there.
00:27:02Drugs are the lifeblood of organised crime,
00:27:05the revenue stream that keeps the gangs in business.
00:27:09Lots of people may see drug users walking around in their local streets,
00:27:12but not actually understand the whole dark secret economy behind it.
00:27:16The street dealers are on the front line.
00:27:20If you have a drug line, you're involved in organised crime.
00:27:24Drug dealing is their core revenue stream.
00:27:26The cash they collect doesn't stay on street corners.
00:27:29It flows up the chain to the gangs pulling the strings.
00:27:33There's always some kind of hierarchy.
00:27:36Essentially there's nothing the gangs won't do to make money.
00:27:39Profits by the next shipment of drugs, weapons and bankrolls violence.
00:27:44Often, knives, machetes, firearms are used,
00:27:48creating a whole other set of problems
00:27:50for the police to investigate and the wider community.
00:27:53So when police shut down a drugs line,
00:27:56they're not just making arrests.
00:27:59They're cutting off the cash
00:28:00that keeps organised crime alive across the UK.
00:28:08Investigations into the county line's operations
00:28:10have taken a significant step forward.
00:28:13West Midland's gang unit are executing a raid on a house
00:28:17they suspect is a base for drug dealing.
00:28:20Police! Police! Don't do it!
00:28:23Police!
00:28:25Show me your hands! Show me your hands!
00:28:27You got another help? Come out.
00:28:30What the police are you doing for?
00:28:32Oi! What the fuck?
00:28:39What the fuck?
00:28:43What the fuck?
00:28:44Fuck you, I'm me fool, bro. What the hell?
00:28:45You thought you guys have harassed us.
00:28:46Because, bro, you just... I don't know who the fuck you are.
00:28:49That's the whole police. We shot at the police.
00:28:50We shot at the police. Fair enough.
00:28:52Go on to your foot.
00:28:55The raid proves to be a major development
00:28:57for the KP drugs line investigation,
00:28:59and Gavin updates his head of department, D.A. Mark Robinson.
00:29:04When they attended that property,
00:29:06the occupant was a male suffering from cancer
00:29:09and he was quite ill.
00:29:10And there was also another female in there,
00:29:12who was since deceased.
00:29:14Cuckooing is a situation where drug dealers
00:29:17identify a vulnerable person,
00:29:19come in and either befriend someone
00:29:22or use coercion or violence to take over their home address
00:29:25and use that as a base.
00:29:28And there were two other males present.
00:29:30One of them was Lewis Simpson.
00:29:32He's had to be pinned down, hasn't he?
00:29:33Yeah.
00:29:33Upon entry.
00:29:34So he's been detained.
00:29:36The other male was Connor Burns.
00:29:37Connor Burns was found in the bedroom
00:29:39where a large number of wraps of heroin and crack cocaine
00:29:42were wrapped up in some cling film.
00:29:49One of the iPhones that Lewis Simpson had in his possession
00:29:52was the KP drugs line, 5624.
00:29:56So that positively links in with that
00:29:58and we've also got a really good drugs recovery.
00:30:00The lab have tested those drugs
00:30:01and they've confirmed they're heroin and crack cocaine.
00:30:03Yeah.
00:30:03So that's where we are with that.
00:30:05So that's where those two start to come under our focus.
00:30:16There's also been a phone recovered,
00:30:18which is believed to be an active drug line.
00:30:21Although there are drugs at the address
00:30:23and police seize phones,
00:30:2524-year-old Lewis Simpson and 23-year-old Connor Burns
00:30:29are released on bail with conditions not to contact each other.
00:30:33At the time of that arrest,
00:30:35Lewis and Connor were not connected to our investigation.
00:30:38However, once they get arrested,
00:30:40we made a link with them
00:30:42and the KP drugs line that we were dealing with.
00:30:47That number had went permanently down.
00:30:49It never reactivated.
00:30:51They had simply started up a new telephone number
00:30:53shortly after they had come out of custody.
00:30:59So, once 5624 drops,
00:31:031466 starts shortly after
00:31:05and we've identified that to be a continuation of the KP drugs line.
00:31:09It's been a bit of a difficult job really.
00:31:11It's been quite convoluted, quite complicated around
00:31:14how the suspects are operating.
00:31:16Once they get arrested,
00:31:18they don't then hang everything up and walk away from it.
00:31:21Lewis and Connor, the way they operate,
00:31:23was very good and very difficult to get on top of.
00:31:26And I think they'd been operating this way for some time,
00:31:29hence why they had not been picked up on sooner.
00:31:32They may be able to run for a little while,
00:31:34but they can't do it forever.
00:31:45Major Crime Team 1 are investigating a violent ambush in Warsaw,
00:31:50where one gang allegedly attacked another in a fight over drugs territory.
00:31:54Leaked footage of the incident fuels the pressure,
00:31:57as 27 names are given to investigators by the public.
00:32:01Now, fearing reprisals and a wider drugs war,
00:32:05D.I. Francis Nock makes a crucial decision.
00:32:08So, working through the names we've had,
00:32:11I've picked on some names who have been presented by intelligence a few times.
00:32:16We really can't wait in an instance like this.
00:32:19There's too much risk and there's too much evidence to be lost.
00:32:21We need to strike and we need to strike against the people
00:32:24who I believe at this time are most likely to be involved.
00:32:27A raid is launched, and eight armed response officers move in on a flat in Warsaw,
00:32:32where two of the gang's attackers may be hiding.
00:32:38Oh, police!
00:32:40Occupants number three!
00:32:41Come to the front door with nothing in your hands.
00:32:46Share your hands.
00:32:48Open the door, mate. Open the door, lights are steady.
00:32:52That's it. Come towards me, mate. Come towards me.
00:32:55How many people have you got in this flat, mate?
00:32:57Just two people, mate. Face them all there.
00:32:59For us, you face the wall as well, mate.
00:33:03The purpose of arresting them quickly is to get our hands on them,
00:33:08search premises, seize items,
00:33:10and investigate their whereabouts and their involvement
00:33:13to really understand whether these are members of the attacking group or not.
00:33:19When we searched that flat, we recovered drugs and we recovered phones.
00:33:22So there's evidence there of criminality.
00:33:29The team make two arrests.
00:33:32Amar Shehzad and Hezer Ayaz.
00:33:36And also seize large quantities of Class A drugs.
00:33:40However, a new problem has emerged.
00:33:44Amar Shehzad and Hezer Ayaz, their phones do not go to the offence location.
00:33:49At this stage, it doesn't put them at the scene, and that's what we're trying to do.
00:33:52And therefore, they've been released on bail with conditions while we continue to investigate the case.
00:33:58But that's just the nature of this kind of investigation.
00:34:00When things are this organised and there's this many people involved,
00:34:03there's going to be stumbling blocks for you all over the place.
00:34:10It's a setback for the team, but now Rosie has a breakthrough.
00:34:15She's tracked one of the cars seen outside the Bentley Moore Social Club before the attack.
00:34:20We identified this vehicle dropping two people off at Bentley Moore Club.
00:34:27So, using CCTV and tracking that vehicle back, we were able to identify the registration plate of that vehicle.
00:34:34From there, we were able to identify a financial transaction that takes place at the BP garage in West Brom.
00:34:42So, what we have here is this vehicle present with the registration plate confirmed from CCTV as being our vehicle.
00:34:52And here we have the offender filling up petrol of that car.
00:34:56This is kind of the best image that we had.
00:34:59So, from this alone, the shorts stand out to me.
00:35:05So, this light coloured marking that I see just here.
00:35:15The offender that runs away on foot away from the scene and gets into the car,
00:35:20he's wearing similar shorts to that.
00:35:23So, you've got the kind of dark shorts with the light coloured marked on the left hand side.
00:35:29And the fact that he's filling up this vehicle shows us that this is highly likely to be one of
00:35:37the offenders involved in the incident.
00:35:39The evidence is key in helping identify the name of the suspect.
00:35:45Muhammad Sajid.
00:35:47And now, his name has been circulated to police forces across the country.
00:35:54The following morning, we got an alert from the airport police that Muhammad Sajid was planning to fly abroad to
00:36:01Lahore in Pakistan.
00:36:02Our enquiries have shown that he booked this flight four hours before it was due to take off.
00:36:07It shows that he's panicking.
00:36:09It shows that he's trying to flee the country.
00:36:14But before he can escape, police intercept Sajid in the departure lounge at Birmingham Airport.
00:36:27What?
00:36:29What's your offence, please?
00:36:30Attempt murder.
00:36:31What's your last name?
00:36:33Sajid.
00:36:34Is that your first name or your last name?
00:36:35Last name.
00:36:36S-A-J-I-D.
00:36:38First name?
00:36:39Muhammad.
00:36:41Birmingham Airport.
00:36:46Departures.
00:36:47Hmm?
00:36:47Departures at Birmingham Airport.
00:36:52Detectives hope that by questioning Sajid, he will lead them to known associates and potentially new suspects.
00:37:01Are you part of a gang?
00:37:03No comment.
00:37:04Do you get involved in gang activity?
00:37:06No comment.
00:37:08As enquiries with Sajid get started, another vehicle leaving the Bentley Moore Social Club has emerged as a new focus
00:37:16of the investigation.
00:37:17We had a BMW coming away from the Bentley Moore Club.
00:37:22So once we started tracking that vehicle to try and identify it, that was a vehicle linked to Amar Khan.
00:37:32So again, once we started looking at his financial transactions throughout the day of the offence,
00:37:39that provided us with CCTV footage of his clothing and his connection with Muhammad Sajid.
00:37:52It was actually from here that we were able to track them.
00:37:59It appears from the evidence that Amar Khan is actually the leader of this group.
00:38:03So we see him earlier on in the day, positioning vehicles that we know are subsequently used in the attack
00:38:09or to get away from the attack.
00:38:11He collects and delivers a number of other offenders to the Bentley Moore Club.
00:38:15And then when you see the CCTV and you hear from the witnesses in the car actually at the scene,
00:38:21he's directing weapons, he's in possession of multiple weapons,
00:38:24and it even appears he calls in the shooter to get the gun.
00:38:27So it appears that Amar Khan's in control.
00:38:34But within days of the offence, Amar Khan fled the country.
00:38:38He did so using a false passport and his destination is unknown.
00:38:43So finding him is going to be a huge challenge.
00:38:58WHISTLE BLOWS
00:39:00While Major Crime Team 1 continues to hunt those behind drugs-related violence,
00:39:05the County Lines Task Force focuses on the funding by targeting the KP drugs line.
00:39:12These are officers that are on General Patrol.
00:39:14They don't know we're carrying out a drugs operation in respect to the KP drugs line.
00:39:18And they've seen what they perceive to be a drug user get in the back of this car.
00:39:22It looks like they've seen the officers and they've reacted to their presence, so they've driven off.
00:39:27WHISTLE BLOWS
00:39:28It was apparent to me that the reason for the delay from the point they're asked to pull over
00:39:33to the point that they do pull over is because they're concealing drugs,
00:39:36they're turning off the drugs line, they're trying to get ready for that start
00:39:41to minimise the risk of them being arrested.
00:39:43Vehicle stopped outside 384 Station Road.
00:39:45Keep your hands where I can see them.
00:39:47Keep your hands where I can see them.
00:39:49Right, you're detained for Section 23, Misuse of Drugs Act Search.
00:39:52Sergeant from the Guardian Task Force, Bourneville Police Station.
00:39:55There is a male in the back.
00:39:57He's quite clearly a drug user.
00:40:00He doesn't share any ties with these two boys.
00:40:03What was I, mate? I'm a fucking adult, bro.
00:40:05The driver of that car was Connor Burns.
00:40:10This is our first sort of indication with Ryan Bowen's.
00:40:13This is Ryan Bowen, who's also a suspect.
00:40:17The red Apple iPhone picked up by the officers in that stop is the KP drug line.
00:40:23You got it? There you go.
00:40:24These two were taken in for a strip search.
00:40:26They've been taken in before.
00:40:27No wraps are being found.
00:40:31It's quite clear that drugs are being swallowed or they're being concealed internally,
00:40:35hence why no arrests are happening, hence why police aren't seizing the drugs.
00:40:39Stay there.
00:40:40So we've had to go into a bit of deeper dive about what the drugs line was doing.
00:40:45Well, what if you step out for me then?
00:40:49At 10.15, the KP drugs line suddenly stopped its normal, usual activity, coinciding with that encounter with the police.
00:40:57Just go stand over there for my friend.
00:40:59A strip search has been authorised.
00:41:01They get detained by the police for some time.
00:41:03For a whole hour, that phone is no longer in use.
00:41:08The KP drugs line had turned back on at 11.16, and that coincided with Connor Burns and Ryan Bowen
00:41:14being released by the police from that drug search.
00:41:17Sorry, Dave.
00:41:19As soon as they're released, they have turned that phone back on and gone back out to supply drugs.
00:41:26Whilst we can say something's a drugs line, we've got to prove they sell heroin, we've got to prove they
00:41:31sell crack.
00:41:31This is a complicated case, because the group themselves are quite disciplined.
00:41:36They've got the drugs line with them.
00:41:38But whenever they're getting stopped, they've got no drugs, so the questions would arise.
00:41:42Well, if you think they're drug dealing, why aren't you fighting drugs?
00:41:47Why aren't they?
00:41:53While Gavin focuses on how the drugs are funded, Major Crime Team 1 continues to investigate the Warsaw attack,
00:42:01where one gang allegedly targeted another over drug territory.
00:42:07Amar Shahzad and Heza Ayaz were first to be arrested, but both were released due to a lack of evidence.
00:42:14Mohammed Sajid remains under questioning while suspected ringleader Ammar Khan
00:42:20has fled the country but now one of the victims has woken from a coma and
00:42:27provided more information so was sat in the driver's seat initially and then when
00:42:35the vehicle is round as he's getting attacked he saw go to the back of the
00:42:41vehicle for safety and then crouches in between the back seat welds they spent
00:42:53some time in hospital because of his injuries they were quite serious we
00:42:59interviewed him he provided a very detailed account of the incident and what
00:43:05we he went through he explained that he recognized some of the suspects well
00:43:13recognized their voices because they all had face masks on etc he said he
00:43:20remembers one of them shouting the name monkey Ammar and then he remembers another
00:43:30one saying it's me Hezer and he recognizes both boys and both people as Ammar Shehzad and
00:43:39Hezer Ayaz with one of the victims identifying Ammar Shehzad and Hezer Ayaz at the scene
00:43:48police have fresh grounds to re-arrest them
00:43:57hello miss you okay is Hezer in yes the kids come in thank you is he upstairs yeah
00:44:03make it do us a favor can you put your hands like this for me please thank you
00:44:06all right as I as the time is currently 5 6 the morning and you're probably under arrest under new
00:44:12evidence for attack murder follow these officers mate go get the hard drives they got to see some
00:44:21guards on arrest the team wants to gather CCTV footage from the suspects home the only thing
00:44:27that we're going to need to take I'll just bring my supervisor with this little hard drive box down here
00:44:40with the two suspects back in custody detectives must prove Ammar Shehzad and Hezer Ayaz were at
00:44:47the scene their phone data doesn't place them in the area at the time of the attack
00:44:53but now officers focus on a new piece of evidence footage that we obtained from his home address on
00:45:01the rest captures him and many hours before the offense and leaving his home address and you start
00:45:11to see the the clothing that he's wearing dark colored trousers and importantly he's got this light
00:45:19colored stretch down both sides the leg so that light colored marking is consistent with the trousers
00:45:30worn by the gunman at the scene and so that's then when we started looking at his movements and with
00:45:42the
00:45:43idea that he is the gunman and and from the markings on the trousers we can be confident that
00:45:49he's the person who handled the gun at the scene it's key evidence against suspected gunman Hezer Ayaz
00:45:56but police are still urgently trying to identify the other violent attackers now new CCTV from a petrol
00:46:05station could help uncover more suspects so one of the vehicles that arise at the Benny Moore Club to
00:46:12drop off some of our offenders is a silver Passat we track that silver Passat backwards eventually we track
00:46:21it back to a petrol station it's done the rounds prior to the offender drug dealing and in that vehicle
00:46:28it's
00:46:29clearly Cameron Moore and Shahzad Mahmood they then get a call from Amar Khan as he makes his way towards
00:46:38the
00:46:38Benny Moore Club and we see that vehicle moving so they've been given the go ahead and that's Cameron Moore
00:46:46and Shahzad Mahmood
00:46:47arriving in the offence
00:46:56With the recovery of this footage major crime team one strikes
00:47:05Eight armed response officers move in on the home of Shahzad Mahmood
00:47:18for the element of surprise the chainsaw will cut through the reinforced UPBC door unlike a standard
00:47:26battering ram which would cost them time that they cannot afford to lose

00:47:44The door
00:47:45I've got no door
00:47:47I'm sorry
00:47:48I'm fine mate
00:47:49What's your own name?
00:47:50I'm really
00:47:52That's him
00:47:52Mate you're under arrest
00:47:55You're going to have to say anything be my own defence if you're not mentioned
00:47:57One question is going to be like you're on your court and that you do say maybe give your evidence
00:48:00Do you understand?
00:48:05What's all this brown stuff mate?
00:48:08What's all this brown stuff that's on the window ceiling you're covered in it?
00:48:10What is it?
00:48:13Huh?
00:48:15You speak English yeah?
00:48:17Yes sir
00:48:17Okay
00:48:18I'm just asking you what is it?
00:48:19Because you're covered in a substance
00:48:21It's all over the bed and all over the window mate so what is it?
00:48:24You've chucked out
00:48:25I was smoking heroin
00:48:27Heroin yeah?
00:48:28It's on
00:48:28Okay
00:48:30You turned your phone off did you?
00:48:31Sorry I turned it off
00:48:32No
00:48:33No
00:48:34What's your pay number for it?
00:48:36I don't know
00:48:37You don't know the pay number
00:48:38Okay
00:48:39The raid on Shahzad Mahmood uncovers Class A drugs
00:48:44Police later arrest four more suspects
00:48:46Including the youngest gang member
00:48:4921 year old Cameron Moore
00:48:51Bringing the total to eight in custody
00:48:54Over the Warsaw attack
00:48:56But the alleged ringleader
00:48:58Amar Khan
00:48:59Is still on the run
00:49:01He's got two options now
00:49:02He either hand himself in
00:49:04Or he can go on the run for the rest of his life
00:49:07Yeah
00:49:09You want to bring everybody to justice in a case like this
00:49:13The fact we can't get our hands on him is
00:49:15It's hugely frustrating
00:49:18And something we're going to have to remedy
00:49:21Because it's going to bother us until we get him
00:49:25So that's a challenge that is ongoing
00:49:39As part of efforts to crack down on drugs across the West Midlands
00:49:43The County Lines Task Force is targeting a network known as the KP drugs line
00:49:49Whilst we can say something to the drugs line
00:49:51We've got to prove they sell heroin
00:49:53We've got to prove they sell crack
00:50:01Ryan, Lewis and Conor
00:50:03Whenever they're getting stopped
00:50:04They've got no drugs
00:50:06Sorry dude
00:50:08So we've had to go into a deeper dive
00:50:11About what the drugs line was doing
00:50:18OK, we've got your insight
00:50:20Stand by
00:50:21Then, on the 9th of May
00:50:24The Operation Skybridge team
00:50:26Make a crucial stop on a car
00:50:29What have you got, lads?
00:50:31How long have you been in this car for?
00:50:33A couple hours, I mean
00:50:35A couple hours
00:50:35One of the occupants
00:50:38Is part of Gavin's KP County line investigation
00:50:41Connor Burns
00:50:43Is the driver
00:50:44We find a new individual in that car
00:50:47Which was Dylan Ford
00:50:49He's the fourth person now
00:50:51We have identified with him in this group
00:50:57Connor and Dylan and Lewis
00:50:59Have all been stopped together in some sort of fashion
00:51:03£300 was in the centre cup holder
00:51:05So they get searched
00:51:06You got anything going to do with it
00:51:07That you shouldn't have?
00:51:08No
00:51:11They also get stripped
00:51:12Searched as well
00:51:13Again, no drugs have been found
00:51:14But what these officers do do
00:51:18Is they have a look at the boys' handsets
00:51:20And when that comes back to us in intelligence
00:51:22We check the call data
00:51:24And it's the KP drugs line 1466
00:51:27That they had got in that car
00:51:28When we examine, analyse that data
00:51:31It was quite clear that the drugs line had turned off
00:51:34It was no longer receiving or making any calls
00:51:37There was no text messages going to or from that telephone number
00:51:41And then once the stop is finished
00:51:44That telephone number will later then reactivate
00:51:47And carry on its business
00:51:48And we felt that that was no coincidence
00:51:53Three days prior to this stop on the 5th of May
00:51:55The drugs line gets topped up at a newsagent
00:51:59In Erdington on the Tyburn Road
00:52:01A male we believe to be Ryan Bowen
00:52:03Walks into that shop
00:52:05And buys a voucher for the drugs line
00:52:06So we're quite happy
00:52:07They're acting on behalf of the KP drugs line
00:52:11Despite no drugs being seized
00:52:13Gavin and his team
00:52:15Have established a link
00:52:16Between activity on the KP drugs line
00:52:18And their four suspects
00:52:21Allowing the investigation to move to the next stage
00:52:24We could say the KP drugs line
00:52:26Was suddenly heroin and crack cocaine
00:52:27What we had to show was that they were in control of it
00:52:30And it was those multiple encounters
00:52:32Made by police on body camera
00:52:33That showed that they had control of it
00:52:35We're quite happy that all these boys are involved
00:52:37And they're sitting on that drugs line
00:52:39And operating on that drugs line
00:52:40As supplying heroin and crack
00:52:42If we snare these four
00:52:43And if they're charged
00:52:45That drugs line should stop
00:52:48As Gavin targets the KP drugs line
00:52:50And the cash behind wider drugs wars
00:52:53In the West Midlands
00:52:54Eight men involved in the violent attack in Warsaw
00:52:58Have pled guilty
00:52:59And are being sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court
00:53:13I mean they'll serve a minimum of two-thirds of the sentences they're given today
00:53:18So anyone sentenced to 18 years for example
00:53:22Is doing a minimum of 12 in prison
00:53:24Before they can be considered for parole
00:53:27Which is
00:53:29A significant period of time obviously
00:53:30You know
00:53:32A man in his early 20s goes to prison for 12 years
00:53:34He's a different man by the time he comes out
00:53:37Inevitably
00:53:37Because he's 12 years older
00:53:39Hopefully
00:53:42A different
00:53:42Hopefully learn some kind of lesson
00:53:44Hopefully not wanting to go back at least
00:53:50For their part in the brutal assault
00:53:52The eight members of the Warsaw gang
00:53:55Receive sentences totalling 118 years
00:54:02Good sentence yeah
00:54:04Probably could have gone higher in my opinion
00:54:06Yeah
00:54:06But at the end of the day
00:54:07It's about putting these guys away for a significant period isn't it
00:54:11It's been my most difficult investigation without a shadow of a doubt
00:54:15The complexity, the size of it
00:54:17But sentences are really significant
00:54:19It protects the public from these people for a long time
00:54:22So overall I'm really happy
00:54:24Great
00:54:25Good to get it done as well
00:54:26Good to get it done
00:54:29But despite the result
00:54:31A cloud hangs over the investigation
00:54:34The alleged ringleader
00:54:36Amar Khan
00:54:37Continues to evade justice
00:54:40As Major Crime Team 1
00:54:42Continue their search for Khan
00:54:44Another operation gathers pace
00:54:47Gavin and his team prepare to move in
00:54:49On the KP drugs line
00:54:51What we'll do
00:54:52We'll strike at the addresses
00:54:53If I get you fire to head down there
00:54:55Hold close
00:54:56But he might be a bit of a live wire
00:54:58So just be aware of that
00:54:59To prevent any of the suspects
00:55:01From running or destroying evidence
00:55:03The team plan to arrest all four men
00:55:05At the same time
00:55:07Well we're going to move very shortly
00:55:08So people get back to cars and stuff
00:55:10And then we'll start to mount towards
00:55:15If we only arrest two of those subjects
00:55:18The other two are going to find out quite quickly
00:55:20That they have been arrested
00:55:21So they're going to get rid of evidence
00:55:23Get rid of their clothing
00:55:24Get rid of drugs
00:55:25Get rid of their personal phone
00:55:27So it's really important to us
00:55:28That one, we get all four in
00:55:29At the same time
00:55:29To make a proper disruption
00:55:30Into the drugs line
00:55:31But two, it also gives us
00:55:35The biggest advantage
00:55:36Of getting the evidence
00:55:37That we're seeking
00:55:40They lead quite chaotic lives to the aisles
00:55:43Which is unsurprising for, you know
00:55:45People who take part in these type of offences
00:55:49So we think we've got them down
00:55:50To three addresses
00:55:52Possibly a fourth address this morning
00:55:56Twelve armed response officers
00:55:58Join the county lines task force
00:56:00As they move in on several addresses
00:56:03Around Shard End in Birmingham
00:56:10When going into a raid
00:56:11I have a number of concerns
00:56:12Before we do it
00:56:13Whether we're going to be recovering drugs
00:56:15Whether we're going to be filing phones
00:56:16I'm always anxious
00:56:18That we're not going to find them all
00:56:21Yeah, all resources are in place
00:56:22For WorldClear
00:56:23Yeah, all officers on this channel
00:56:25It will be a strike, strike, strike
00:56:27And also, these operations
00:56:29Are quite high risk
00:56:30Where we're crashing through people's doors
00:56:32In the early hours of the morning
00:56:34They're not going to be
00:56:35Particularly happy about that
00:56:45As part of the war on drugs
00:56:47In the West Midlands
00:56:48Gavin McGrath
00:56:49And the county lines task force
00:56:51Have been targeting the funding
00:56:53Behind the drug gangs
00:56:55After uncovering the KP drugs line
00:56:58They identified four suspects
00:57:00Connor Burns
00:57:01Lewis Simpson
00:57:03Ryan Bowen
00:57:04And Dylan Ford
00:57:06Now, they are about to bring them all in
00:57:13Thanks, Kel
00:57:28Connor Burns is arrested first
00:57:31Call him here, Jim
00:57:32Yeah, entry effective
00:57:33Will clear, one detained
00:57:37At the same time
00:57:38Other raids are taking place
00:57:40Across town
00:58:00Lewis Simpson is the second member
00:58:03Of the KP drug line
00:58:04To be arrested
00:58:08That's two
00:58:10The team were hoping
00:58:12To find Dylan Ford
00:58:13At the same address
00:58:14As Connor Burns
00:58:15But he's not there
00:58:17Yeah, mate
00:58:17We've got Burns at this address
00:58:18Ford's outstanding, mate
00:58:21Just need to find him now
00:58:22But I'll work on that
00:58:24All right, pal
00:58:25Not far away
00:58:27Police approached the home
00:58:29Of Ryan Bowen
00:58:36All right, mate, you're right
00:58:37All right, mate, come here
00:58:37Come in
00:58:40Come in, come in
00:58:41Yeah
00:58:42Yeah, we've got the last
00:58:47Oh, you've got it where?
00:58:49I've got Ryan Bowen's property
00:58:52Oh, wonderful, mate
00:59:20Oh, wonderful, mate
00:59:20That's great news, mate
00:59:20So we've got over here
00:59:21We've got a set of scales
00:59:22That are on display
00:59:23Just behind you over there
00:59:24There's a phone over there
00:59:25That's going to be of interest to us
00:59:26We've got some cash
00:59:28Over here
00:59:29That's been stacked up
00:59:30With a lock knife
00:59:32And then we've got
00:59:32A set of keys here
00:59:34We weren't aware
00:59:35He had a car
00:59:37So we'll get these
00:59:38These three cars checked out
00:59:39I don't think there's been
00:59:40Any recovery of drugs
00:59:41But the thing is
00:59:42Call these car keys
00:59:43They're going to be in the cars
00:59:52So far
00:59:53We've executed three warrants
00:59:54Against these suspects
00:59:55As we plan to do
00:59:56Dylan Ford
00:59:57We'll continue to make inquiries
00:59:59Into where he is
01:00:00But at the moment
01:00:01So far
01:00:02A good result for us
01:00:03We never know where they're going to be
01:00:04But we've got three out of four
01:00:05That we want
01:00:10Six shoes are four, mate
01:00:13Can I get a couple of blankets, please?
01:00:15Yeah, yes, sir
01:00:17Despite compelling evidence
01:00:19Further searches of Ryan and Lewis' vehicles
01:00:22Uncover no drugs
01:00:25Ryan, Connor and Lewis
01:00:26Will be subject to questioning
01:00:28We will put the evidence to them
01:00:31We'll accuse them of being involved
01:00:34In a conspiracy to supply drugs
01:00:35And give them an opportunity
01:00:36To account for themselves
01:00:39As the three suspects
01:00:40In the KP drugs line case
01:00:42Are being interviewed
01:00:43Gavin begins gathering further evidence
01:00:50We've now got the data
01:00:52From Ryan Bowen's handset
01:00:54Which we've now processed
01:00:55A drugs line is like any other business
01:00:57They have all the same issues
01:00:58A regular business does
01:00:59And Ryan's incurring expenses
01:01:01As part of being employed
01:01:02By that drugs line
01:01:03So he's tightening up his expenses
01:01:05So he can claim them back out
01:01:06Out of the floats
01:01:07Free or free for free
01:01:10Which would suggest
01:01:11That's payment of drugs
01:01:11Or he's been given a number of wraps
01:01:13For what he's done that day
01:01:14And then there's a reference
01:01:15To 27 items
01:01:16So it's very rare
01:01:18That they will explicitly
01:01:19Describe drugs
01:01:20So they'll refer to it as items
01:01:22Or something of that nature
01:01:23So that will indicate
01:01:24What he's got left over
01:01:25At the end of that shift
01:01:26When I looked at his search history
01:01:28So there's some things
01:01:30That he's searched for
01:01:31Such as
01:01:32Can police bug your phone?
01:01:34Why do police take photos
01:01:36Of me on the roadside?
01:01:37So he's obviously got
01:01:38Some sort of preoccupation
01:01:40As to what the police's capabilities are
01:01:42Given the case that we do have
01:01:44This is certainly strong
01:01:45Supporting evidence
01:01:46And destrempens the case
01:01:47That we already have against him
01:01:49We have sought advice
01:01:50From the Crown Prosecution Service
01:01:52Even with no drugs
01:01:53They determined
01:01:54There was sufficient evidence
01:01:55To charge them
01:01:56With being involved
01:01:57In the supply of Class A drugs
01:01:59At this point
01:02:00Dylan Ford is still at large
01:02:02We don't know where he is
01:02:04We feel the KP drugs line
01:02:06Is lucrative
01:02:08And a profitable business
01:02:09It may reactivate
01:02:10Should we not be able
01:02:11To get him into custody
01:02:20One month after the verdicts
01:02:22In the Warsaw attack
01:02:27Major crime team one
01:02:28Have had a significant breakthrough
01:02:32After searching for Ammar Khan
01:02:33For upwards of a year
01:02:39We get notification
01:02:40From the Turkish authorities
01:02:41That he's been arrested in Turkey
01:02:42With a false passport
01:02:44Trying to enter the country
01:02:47So complete surprise for us
01:02:48Sometimes policing
01:02:50Just gives you those
01:02:50Pleasant surprises
01:02:51Which is great
01:02:52After all that hard work
01:02:55All we need to do
01:02:56Is attend the airport
01:02:57And get him
01:02:58So it's the best piece of news
01:03:00I've had all year
01:03:02Kosh and colleague
01:03:03Tabitha Bridgewater
01:03:04Have gone to Birmingham airport
01:03:06To arrest Ammar Khan
01:03:11All right guys
01:03:15How's it going
01:03:15Glad to see you
01:03:18We're just going to go
01:03:19We're just going to go
01:03:20Yeah yeah
01:03:20You want to run the back
01:03:22Yeah
01:03:23Be careful
01:03:23I think I'll fracture my arm
01:03:24Please
01:03:25This one
01:03:25This one
01:03:26Yeah
01:03:33Just confirm your name
01:03:37I'm going to be arresting you
01:03:38On suspicion of conspiracy to murder
01:03:39Okay
01:03:39You don't have to say anything
01:03:40They may harm your defense
01:03:41You don't mention
01:03:42You always question something
01:03:43You do say maybe
01:03:44Give me an evidence
01:03:45Okay
01:03:45All right
01:03:46It won't be long mate
01:03:50It's the final piece of the jigsaw for the team
01:03:53Each of the victims has made a full recovery
01:03:55And with alleged ringleader Ammar Khan
01:03:58Now in custody
01:03:59Nine suspects behind the shocking Warsaw attack
01:04:02Have been charged
01:04:06Cobblestone is my proudest achievement
01:04:07As a police officer
01:04:09This arrest completes our investigation
01:04:11We've got no further outstanding suspects
01:04:13So it's putting cobblestone to bed
01:04:16Which is a great achievement for us
01:04:30There is a dog
01:04:31Yeah a big dog
01:04:36Weeks after the arrests
01:04:37Of the other KP Drugline gang members
01:04:39Police have received information
01:04:41About the potential whereabouts
01:04:43Of their remaining suspect
01:04:45Dylan Ford
01:04:49Hello there
01:04:50Is he a
01:04:52Can I come in and have a word
01:04:54And explain why we're here
01:04:55Yeah
01:04:55Yeah thank you
01:04:57We're here because we're looking for Dylan
01:04:59And we've been told that he's been staying here
01:05:01Okay
01:05:01Is he here at the moment
01:05:04Yeah okay
01:05:04We're going to have to go up and speak to him okay
