00:09I'm so glad you just are the man that knows all the stuff okay hey we're going to work babe
00:20am I good yeah okay all right I'm coming through guys look at me the woman in me wants to
00:30fluff
00:31these out Mark help me help fix it so it doesn't is it is that in frame are you seeing
00:38that
00:39I'm I don't know where I'm looking yeah yeah look at me and by looking at me you're going to
00:44look
00:44right into the camera yes thank you Mark you weren't paying attention do that part right there
00:51okay just right off the top what is the real story of LuLaRoe and you know what does it feel
01:03like to
01:03be sitting down to tell your stories do you ever feel like you're like pretending to be
01:14somebody that you really aren't even though I am I'm the boss I own a clothing company
01:21you are the boss of your business and you're the boss of your destiny and the boss of what you
01:25choose
01:26to do LuLaRoe LuLaRoe what in the hell LuLaRoe what is that you've probably seen their brightly colored
01:35tops and leggings on your social media feed LuLaRoe sells clothing to independent fashion retailers
01:42well they resell the items to customers through online and in-house approach what's called multi-level
01:47marketing retailers buy in with a minimum purchase in LuLaRoe's case about five thousand dollars then
01:54sell to customers at a markup when I started LuLaRoe I couldn't even afford a five dollar box of cereal
01:59four and a half years later I was just able to buy my dream home I had achieved the dream
02:04I almost
02:05felt like a real housewife my department alone was bringing them a million dollars a day easily
02:14there's a kind of magic in the air based on what based on selling an opportunity some of these people
02:21have not yet sold anything I want to challenge you I've got a new challenge it's coming and a reward
02:27incentive um shoot Mark hates it when I do that Mark do you hate me because I did that no
02:33there's
02:33no incentive the incentive is get your business going it's going to be fun you're going to make
02:36money this is your business women were selling breast milk just so they could afford startup cost
02:43people spending ten grand for some leggings PJ dance party I remember we fly in a private jet and
02:50the pilots would be like who are these guys I'm not qualified to run a marketing department for a
02:56million dollar company let alone a billion dollar company you know it was kind of crazy when you
03:01work it you work it and you put from that point forward things were gonna get really really really
03:07strange Deanne said I got the weight loss surgery if you're interested let me know like I can hook you
03:14up my sister will drive you down to Tijuana you get surgery and then fly back home I think we
03:20brought
03:20brought down I think 18 I counted the other day 18 as time kind of went by it just felt
03:25that
03:25something else was going on LuLaRoe retailers and customers are flooding social media with
03:31complaints little did I know this is gonna end up looking like a penis no one wants to wear leggings
03:37that feature a bee crawling up your couch this is a hamburger print or what the vagina would look like
03:45if it was a hamburger that's bullshit I'm sorry I'm having serious issues right now why is everything
03:50ripping why are these leggings wet why are they moldy why are they stinky the whole house smelled like
03:56the dead fart leggings like it was so bad I've heard some whining lately also about well my inventory's
04:02stale no you're stale we're talking about a scam I remember looking around and being like we all look
04:08the same like oh my god I'm in a cult guess what if your sales are down it's because you're
04:13down
04:14Mark starts spouting off passages from the Book of Mormon and I'm looking around going what the
04:22we're talking about a mass delusion
04:27I stopped trying to keep track of how many lawsuits have been filed against LuLaRoe it's dozens
04:32tonight the Washington state attorney general says LuLaRoe tricked people into joining a pyramid
04:37scheme I feel like I bailed my family I put my family into debt I'm just so upset because my
04:44business can't succeed because I don't have the leggings to take care of all my customers well guess
04:48what then you're obviously in the wrong business we need to get away from being a pyramid scheme okay
04:54we sell product through to a consumer and it's highly desirable product that is not a pyramid scheme
05:00the state of Washington versus LLR we're a family organization and many people wore many hats
05:07you're the president correct they say I am you also co-CEO I don't know
05:34you know one of the ancient stoic philosophers Epictetus one time somebody came and said so and so
05:42speaking bad about you and he said well they must not know me well they failed to list all of
05:47my flaws
05:48and so that's my approach to this whole thing you know we are storytellers that's how the business
05:54grew and so it's exciting to have somebody here that's interested in in in the whole story and
06:01an opportunity to share that every day I am astounded and full of gratitude for what this business became
06:10and I'm I'm just thankful for every bit of it every day every minute so I can't wait
06:21okay so why don't we start at the beginning
06:29when Mark and I met I was raising seven kids and being a single mother and going through divorce
06:37simple things like I'm going to buy the cheapest hamburger and I'm going to buy a handful of fries
06:42and we're all going to split them up I hated that one day I was waiting for a plane ticket
06:52on standby
06:55and I got the last seat happened to sit next to him he was just funny and happy and positive
07:04and
07:04we just clicked and it was awesome you know before I even said a word to her there was something
07:11just powerful and we've been married 23 years now a lot of 14 kids yeah a lot of water under
07:20that bridge
07:23I had seven children three adopted from Romania four biological mark had four children that's 11
07:29Kenny is married to Jill and they have four children then there's Amelia married to Justin
07:36Nicole and Jeff have four then comes Jordan and Cassie after that is was Alex oh was it Morgan so
07:45Morgan is his
07:46daughter no kids yet Austin Alex Michael then Devin Alexa and then we have Daniela that just so wasn't enough
07:57I met two brothers that were abandoned at age six and seven Katalin and Tony and in the meantime we
08:04adopted Anna Anna fell in love with Michael that worked out really awesome kind of shocking but it was good
08:11so a lot of our 14 children two of them are married I mean they have zero blood relation they
08:17never
08:17lived in the house together she went to college anyway it's awesome it's a great story let's put it on
08:22the the wedding invitation then we announce the marriage of our daughter to the son of
08:35Deanna and I are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints secularly we've been known as
08:41Mormons
08:43we believe that we're living in the last days we believe in self-reliance and that the universe is
08:51ultimately fair my father was raised in Provo Utah my dad's family ancestors grandfathers came here across
09:00the plains and they were candy makers my father was a salesman he drove around his model T and their
09:09dream was to start a catering business they led us to believe that we could do anything
09:20I was raised in Pasadena California I am the 10th child of 11 and my mother birthed all 11 children
09:30my parents had nine and then surprisingly she found out she was expecting at age 44 so that's where me
09:36and my twin sister came along we dressed alike all the way through high school we were cheerleaders
09:41together my mother would always say hey what are we doing for Deanna and Diane's birthday did you catch
09:47Deanna and Diane okay my mother was not very creative my maiden name was startup s-t-a-r-t
09:55-u-p my dad
09:57would always say it's like start up your car and honestly I mean yep startup
10:09I come from an entrepreneurial family also I lived an ideal middle-class childhood you know we lived in a
10:16three-bedroom two-bath house with four kids and I seriously never even considered having a job that
10:23wasn't for me to work for somebody else and to answer to a boss and to have somebody else defining
10:29what my
10:30product was going to look like one of the moments in my life that stuck with me for a long
10:37long time I
10:37was probably about 16 years old things weren't quite so good and I remember my dad having a conversation with
10:44our next-door neighbor and the neighbor suggested to him you know but I hear they're hiring up at
10:49the mine maybe you could get a job in the carpenter shop and my dad's answer to that was there's
10:56only
10:56one thing worse than being flat broke and that's knowing I'm gonna make four hundred and twelve dollars
11:01a week for the rest of my life sorry I didn't know that that story would get an emotion out
11:10of me
11:10that's it's interesting when you're an entrepreneur there's no upper limit nobody's gonna tell you you
11:18can only make this much it's entirely up to you my mom was home with the kids and then as
11:30kids got
11:30older it was much easier for her to say okay I'm gonna go to the office so one night she
11:37has said okay
11:38I'm gonna be home I promise you and as soon as we get down I'm gonna take you guys all
11:41out for ice cream
11:43she had sold this big catering job I think it was like three thousand dollars that was a lot of
11:47money
11:47she'd gone to the bank and she said I want all of this in five dollar bills
11:52so it's a pretty big bag full of money and she called all of us kids and she said come
11:58quick come
11:58quick come come quick everybody come and go to the bottom of the stairs and mom's got something to share
12:04with you this is my vision okay what I remember so she got to the top of the stairs and
12:10she said
12:10okay everybody put your hands over your eyes and when I count to three look up so she counted to
12:17three she said okay open your eyes and she began taking that money and she threw it over the banister
12:26all we saw was money just coming down she goes pick it all up it's all yours whatever you can
12:32get it's
12:32all yours mom did this for you and we're gonna go shopping we're gonna go get ice cream
12:39it was her way of teaching us to visualize that if we work hard we're gonna see the benefit
12:47mom and dad built dreams and they taught us
12:57I got married to my first husband really early got pregnant really quick
13:04being a mother I knew I wanted my kids to look great and there were times when I wanted new
13:10things
13:11and I knew I couldn't just go spend the money I shopped for dresses at all big stores and I
13:18would look at
13:19the tag and I knew oh there's no way I wanted to be that kind of person that could say
13:26I've earned
13:27it I'm gonna I'm gonna buy that one day I went to the swap meet and there was a guy
13:33there with little
13:34girls dresses and they were the brands that I'd seen that were anywhere from 80 to 100 bucks and they
13:40were ten dollars I bought four dresses and I was so surprised that hardly anybody was buying them
13:48so I thought I wonder if I do a party for him I would invite all my friends and I
13:54do it in my house
13:55show some dresses and people come shop buy it and go I think we sold like 300 dresses the guys
14:04that I
14:04bought dresses from they were shocked and so he said okay Dan we have dresses to sell if you can
14:12book dress parties I'm gonna give you the profit to all these dresses and I'm gonna let you start
14:17your own business I just the dollar signs of excitement and thinking I can do this we'll do
14:25after-school parties I was on a mission to make this build up I started booking pop-ups I could
14:34put four
14:34parties a day they were an hour and a half long and three weeks I would book 15 parties five
14:40in
14:40Arizona five in Utah and five in Vegas I knew that I had a goal of how many pieces I
14:47needed to sell
14:48because I'm not a numbers person but by darn I know what's in that bank account I brought home about
14:55forty thousand dollars cash profit and I did that for about 27 years one day my daughter said hey mom
15:07do you think you could make me a maxi skirt she knew I could make patterns and sew and and
15:11create pretty
15:12soon I found myself cutting skirts out on my kitchen counter small medium and large skirts and I mixed it
15:20with a
15:20dress party within five months I sold 20,000 maxi skirts and I thought oh my gosh so we started
15:32selling
15:32only maxi skirts our business started in our home bags and bins started in our garage yes but then the
15:39garage filled up and it moved into one of the bedroom so then we turned all the furniture into the
15:43storage
15:44you're not well that just that was in three months people would just buy whatever we put up she would
15:53call me and she'd say on your way home I need you to go to LA and pick up more
15:56fabric I was like a deer
15:58in the headlights some of it was a dollar a yard some of it was three dollars a yard four
16:03dollars a yard we
16:04just didn't know what we were gonna get we just go and say oh that's a pretty one let's make
16:08that and
16:09so what that resulted in was this kind of urgency if you like that skirt you better buy it because
16:15there may not be another one like it and so while she was out selling them I started helping her
16:20get
16:20production done and that was how I kind of started into the business whether she invited me to to get
16:28involved with it I'm not sure if she invited me if I just push my way in but regardless do
16:33we get in
16:34fights yes we do what it's so great because there's so much passion between the two of us
16:40there's a lot of times I hate them I don't like them but you know what a lot wait a
16:45minute let's
16:45clarify that a lot we're going on a lot now anyway um
16:55one day I met a girl in Utah she said I've got 10 friends and they've heard the buzz and
17:01they want me to
17:02come and pick out skirts for them Brittany dove into the van and all I could see is her feet
17:08moving
17:08around pulling out okay I want that one and she threw it to me and I want that one and
17:12this is a
17:13good one and I called Mark on the phone and I said what can I do to make it valuable
17:18to her
17:20Mark did the math in his head and he said okay you sell them to her for this and she
17:25gets to make
17:26double the amount of money she picked out 20 skirts I said Brittany I'm gonna let you buy them for
17:33this
17:33much she did the math in her head and it was instant cash and an instant opportunity that is really
17:45when
17:46LuLaRoe started the name of the company stands for our first three granddaughters Lucy and then Lola
18:00and Monroe so Lucy Lola and Monroe is LuLaRoe when we quit saying how do I get what I need
18:11and the
18:12conversation started with how do we help others make money that's where the business started that's
18:18where the growth came from that's when we became what the world likes to refer to as network marketing
18:29LuLaRoe is a multi-level marketing company multi-level marketing companies which you may also hear
18:36described as direct sales start with the small number of people at the top and then they recruit
18:42people below them those people sell goods for a commission part of that commission goes up those
18:50people then bring in more people below them and down and down the line officially multi-level marketing
18:59operates as income opportunity based upon selling products it's a Tupperware party and it's really fun
19:08the girls get together and meet their old friends and make some new ones skincare anti-aging cream clothing
19:16it doesn't really matter somebody takes a product directly to the customer customer buys it the salesman
19:23gets a commission and this is legal but what is really being sold is the unlimited opportunity one
19:31person recruiting a multiple of other people and getting some of the money that they put in they in
19:38turn each will need a multiple of people so the number of people involved keeps increasing exponentially
19:46you can only go about 13 levels and you pass the population of the human race on earth when did
19:54you
19:54first learn what an MLM was probably in about 1982 actually probably before that my parents were Amway
20:10distributors in the 60s have you ever been involved in all multi-level marketing yes what multi-level
20:17marketing I tried to do Amway multi-level marketing is sometimes spoken of like it's a business model
20:27that has been around forever but actually it had a beginning there was an Adam and Eve of multi-level
20:34marketing neutral light and from that begot Amway we offer freedom we offer rewards we offer recognition
20:46and we offer hope Amway developed a model that converted the salesperson into the customer so the money would
20:55be made by multiplying the number of salespeople getting them to buy into it with fees and purchases and
21:04that would create the mainstay of revenue hey friends I'm so excited I want to show you
21:12today we're doing a full face a beauty counter I just in the past decade or so you've really seen
21:21an explosion of
21:22multi-level marketing companies Herbalife our bond many of them are you know cosmetics companies or wellness companies
21:30it has become almost universal it's everywhere on social media make the case that you have something
21:37great to offer recruits pay an entry fee and then they purchase a product that's where the money comes
21:43from LuLaRoe itself has this model and how did you go about having others sell the clothing I just mentioned
21:56it when
21:57they said they would like to sell also and be able to make some money from home and then I
22:05told
22:05them why don't you sell LuLaRoe do I look good I'm still single okay so I cannot be commemorated in
22:21any way
22:22other than gorgeous I am Ashley Laotaha I started in 2013 I was the third retailer to join the company
22:36I was born in Kailua Hawaii my husband was stationed with the army here in Washington and LuLaRoe kind of
22:46fell into my lap I saw a friend of a friend wearing a maxi skirt on Instagram there is nothing
22:53more
22:54comfortable or perfect than a maxi skirt when you're pregnant right there wasn't a way to purchase them
22:59online at the time so I called the company somehow got in touch with Deanne she called me out of
23:05the blue
23:05wanted to buy a skirt I said you know this is a really great opportunity for you to make money
23:10by selling
23:12skirts I told her I had just graduated from college and I had two little kids and I was pregnant
23:16okay
23:18well I'm gonna fly out there I'm gonna see what I can do to help you she flew up here
23:25and taught me
23:26how to fold the maxi skirts put them into a bag so that people could see the patterns and we
23:31would put
23:32them in like big Tupperware bins I would put them in the back of my SUV and take them to
23:36people's houses
23:37there are lots of women who still remember me lugging those Tupperware bins around and just
23:42being like what is this thing that you're doing like okay I'll buy a maxi skirt a lot of us
23:51who
23:51joined in the very beginning were of the belief that success is the best recruiting tool right
23:57success with your sales speaks for itself and when you go and you do a pop-up and you sell
24:0340 pieces
24:0410 women show up and they're all having a great time the clothing made them feel great there's an
24:09energy there that people want to replicate these are the things to a successful pop-up you've got
24:16to have music playing it's got to be upbeat fun and I used to tell them don't do refreshments they
24:22don't need them they're always on a diet and the goal was to always be making money and also finding
24:29new
24:31contacts one of the people that I met was Lindsay Wheeler I went to this vendor event I had my
24:36little
24:36booth set up she bought a couple of maxi skirts I set up a pop-up with her Ashley Lautaha
24:43came to my
24:43house and did a pop-up I didn't know anything about the brand no one in my area knew about
24:47it
24:48and it just that the wheels started turning like man I wonder if I could do this Lindsay called me
24:54one
24:54day and she was like what do you think about me joining the company like I don't want to step
24:58on your
24:58toes and I was like yeah girl go for it there were more retailers that were saying well I kind
25:09of
25:09want to do that and I thought okay come along let's do it together it's gonna be so fun I
25:15just make it
25:15real simple and easy pay us $10 a skirt sell them for 25 so you get $15 a piece profit
25:22it's not rocket
25:25science to sell clothing and so people wanted to join that it was like join the movement that was
25:32a phrase that was shared often
25:39LuLaRoe for me it mostly came through women that I had known in high school who were advertising on
25:45Facebook and Instagram thanks to social media I can see what they're up to and they can market to
25:56me LuLaRoe promised women if you're unwilling to invest enough of your time energy effort and money
26:05you will get this great payout so I went and did this party and came home and I handed Doug
26:14$300 cash he's
26:15like what is this and I said this is what I just earned selling 30 skirts at this skirt party
26:24and we
26:25looked at each other and said you know what this might be something we really want to look into doing
26:30because it could change our trajectory financially the first retailers they just kind of said well
26:39my husband I just built a beautiful home but I want all new furniture there's no money for that and
26:45so
26:45man they started hustling you show up to someone's house and they want you to be on the third floor
26:52and
26:52you're like okay I can do that I can bring this thousand pounds of clothing up your three flights of
26:58stairs I would be happy to there was never a time that I left having sold nothing maybe I sold
27:03two
27:03things but I made some money and I made a contact with someone and I was growing sort of my
27:08network
27:11they're telling you there is no limit the income opportunity is unlimited the product sells itself
27:26I was selling magic leggings that like fit everybody and letting people know why these wild leggings would
27:34look fun with a chambray shirt I didn't know much about the company I'd been gifted a pair of leggings
27:40that
27:41were super comfortable and super soft and I was like okay well these are the best thing I've literally
27:49ever felt in my life I got black pair of leggings and they were thick and they were soft and
27:55these are
27:56amazing pants I love them it did feel buttery soft the material was super stretchy it was perfectly fitted to
28:07anybody's body and I just I fell in love I felt cute I felt comfortable got into contact with a
28:14gal who
28:15sold these leggings and I was like you know I want to buy some more and she was like okay
28:19well you know
28:20come on over and buy some and I'm going well how does this work with LuLaRoe now the name is
28:28getting more and
28:29more out there it's getting more and more popular we want you to understand and feel secure in talking
28:37about your business with other people let them know there's opportunities they can make money I'm
28:42talking to my girlfriends and they're kind of going well what's the catch I'm going well I don't think
28:47there is one I mean you own the inventory that's not like any other business people can feel it they
28:53come
28:53over they see it there's you know pricing they pay right there I mean it's literally a store in your
28:58own home there is no catch oh look here are all the colors these are the warm colors see how
29:05you can
29:05really help you make that decision yes uh-huh with normal MLMs you're gonna get the same exact product
29:12everybody sells the same exact thing if you're selling lipstick everybody has the same lipstick colors
29:16if you're selling shakes everybody has the same shake flavors with LuLaRoe the stuff that we sold
29:23they had such a wide variety of products and you could pick and choose what you wanted to sell
29:27and so there was a lot of sharing of customers oh I don't have that but let me ask my
29:32team they might
29:33have it so that to me was something that seemed very communal versus competitive it just felt different
29:49different I'm a family girl right I love being a mom I love spending time with my children and the
29:55idea
29:56of being able to run a business and change our financial future and be a mom I mean it's like
30:04everything any mom ever wants right that really resonated with me you're important you're very
30:14important to mark and I and for all that you do and for all that you get up and get
30:19dressed show up
30:20and there's a lot of great things happening this is the company for you you guys we're the original
30:25we're the OG the original women have to do so much we want to see them succeed and that's what
30:33keeps me
30:34going there's no requirements not like you know get rich quick it's by product sell it buy it for
30:44wholesale sell it for retail if I have a business that works people will be drawn to it our retailers
30:51are selling mostly to people that they can see that they can talk to that they can discern what their
30:57needs are and create a relationship there are so many pathways to success I was just told that I could
31:05be
31:05home with my kids and I could make money and I love clothes this is a dream come true wow
31:16mm-hmm yeah I just have to remember my posture for 12 hours okay start handing me a drink or
31:25something we gonna be here for 12 hours hey girl hey all right I'll give everybody a minute to hop
31:32on
31:33and then I'll go cuz you can always rewatch it my name is Courtney Harwood I started with
31:38LuLaRoe in March of 2015 hey Vicki hi Sarah hi Megan within almost a year I reached the highest status
31:49in the
31:50company so this is part two oh that's a gang sign part two that's peace up part two I was
32:00very high up in
32:01the food chain per se got married right after college we have three children one who is now 12 years
32:11old and then
32:12surprise twins I became part of a twins mom group on Facebook one of the twin moms announced in the
32:23group that she was
32:24having a LuLaRoe clothing party so I ordered three pieces of clothing I got so many comments and likes on
32:35that clothing that that's when I
32:37started to look deeper into LuLaRoe and what it was all about I was working in corporate America rising up
32:45in the ranks I never really saw my
32:48children much because I spent more time at work I felt like I was missing out on them growing up
32:56part of what attracted
32:59me to joining LuLaRoe was the hope that I could make what I was making if not more working less
33:08than being able to spend more time with them
33:12I mean in a perfect world who wouldn't want that you are beautiful amazing you are smart compassionate confident
33:24free we are mothers building a community making a difference through social retail we are LuLaRoe
33:41they treated us like one big family look at these people if they can all vacation together
33:48and take time off together and work together we are connected then my family can do that too
33:59I contacted the retailer that sold the clothes and said I want to know more about this company and she
34:06She explained to me that it was a newer company, and if I wanted to join, now was the time.
34:12And I said, okay, let's sign me up.
34:15She then told me, well, there is one thing I need to talk to you about, and that's the startup
34:20cost.
34:21$5,000.
34:25My mouth immediately just dropped.
34:29Me and my husband were struggling, and we were in debt, always robbing Peter to pay Paul.
34:36And at that point, Peter was broke.
34:40I actually ended up going to the credit union on my lunch break and asking them for a loan to
34:49start the business.
34:52So I came home that day, and without telling anyone, I went ahead and signed up to be a retailer
35:01with LuLaRoe.
35:03I remember going, I have to tell my husband I just did this.
35:08So I did tell him.
35:10He shook his head, and he just said, no company, you have to pay to sign up.
35:17And I said, but this is different, I promise you.
35:20Just watch me do it.
35:21And let's see where this goes.
35:24You know, if you had asked me 10 years ago if I'd be selling clothes, I would have told you
35:28you were crazy.
35:30It's not easy, but if you're passionate about the brand, it's not work.
35:35I can make the amount of money that I set out to make depending on how hard I was willing
35:39to work on any given day, and I had the control.
35:43If you want to create incredible wealth, identify an underutilized resource.
35:48And you know what?
35:49There is an underutilized resource of stay-at-home moms, and they have chosen to be a mother.
35:54And if you make that choice, you pay a price career-wise in our country right now.
36:01We have a lot of people of faith that have been attracted to this business.
36:05Here we've got this army of women who are smart, passionate, beautiful, funny, educated, and want to do things.
36:15They're awesome.
36:16And we want to give them here.
36:20Express all of that.
36:21Take your creativity, your passion, your excitement for life, and here's a place that is a pure meritocracy.
36:27Show up.
36:28Do it.
36:29I'm so blessed to be a part of LuLaRoe and our retailers.
36:34Everybody, you're such amazing people, and I just want to say thank you and just remember you are never alone.
36:39We got you.
36:40I love you.
36:41It's the community.
36:42It is the camaraderie.
36:44It is LuLaRoe.
36:47This is the sisterhood, and this is why I love working for this company.
37:03We kept trying to keep up, and there came a moment where it was like, okay, this is, we've got
37:10to get it organized.
37:11And Deanne just looked at it, and she said, well, before we talk to anybody else, I want to talk
37:15to our kids and give them an opportunity.
37:21There was a meeting that my mom and dad wanted to have with all the kids.
37:25They invited us all over, and they pretty much laid it all out.
37:30Mark started to write all the numbers in front of us of like the business and how it was doing
37:35and what they were selling,
37:37and then also writing down all the needs of the business.
37:40Like these are the things that we need in order to run this business.
37:43And it was like accounting, photography, social media, website, you know, production, all these different things.
37:50And then they asked for our help.
37:59They wanted us to be a part of something that they were seeing success in.
38:03They didn't want it for themselves.
38:05The business consultants asked my mom and dad, they're like, well, what's your exit strategy?
38:10And they both look at each other, and they're like death because they want to leave a legacy on, not
38:17for themselves,
38:18for any family, retailer, anyone who wants to come and is attracted to this business
38:25can just be absorbed in the blessings that it will provide for all and more.
38:41What was it, Francis?
38:42The door.
38:43You ready?
38:43Oh, yeah.
38:44Hey, what's going on, man?
38:46Do I look okay?
38:47I have a little bit of a hole in my pants.
38:49All right underneath.
38:50What's that?
38:52That orange.
38:52I love that orange underneath.
38:54Oh, yeah, my wife picked it out for you guys.
39:00My name is Sam, and I'm Deanne's nephew.
39:04There was always kind of this entertainment, social aspect in my family.
39:09My muscle milk brings all the boys to the yard.
39:12And they're like, it's better than yours.
39:14I always kind of was a little bit of a showman growing up.
39:17I will ease your mouth.
39:33I joined in 2015.
39:36I got hired as the events director.
39:39I kind of didn't know what to expect,
39:42but like I wanted to create something that was exciting for them.
39:48I was the same age as this demographic.
39:51I was born in the 80s.
39:52I mean, I'm a typical older millennial.
39:57I would play like stuff that was new and cool,
40:00like a song that just came out, and they'd be like, okay, cool.
40:03But then I'd play like TLC, Scrubs, and they'd go wild.
40:08Or NSYNC, you know?
40:09And I'd be like, okay.
40:11What?
40:12I was using.
40:15I was catching on, like, what the needs were.
40:19One of the first events needed someone to present Deanne with this award.
40:24And I was like, you guys, we have to get someone that's like straight into their sophomore year.
40:31Why don't you just go with the best dancer?
40:36It worked out perfect to get Mario Lopez.
40:39He was available.
40:40He was way under budget.
40:44We just asked him to show up and take pictures at the end of the red carpet with 300 women.
40:53It was epic.
40:54They were taking pictures of Mario Lopez, posting it on social media.
40:58And no joke, the next Monday, there was, like, 11,000 people wanting to join.
41:05Everyone's all in and ready to, like, lay down $5,000 to $10,000 on their clothes.
41:13I will tell you right now, we're not in the clothing business.
41:17We're in the people business.
41:19We know that if you're happy and confident, you can sell anything.
41:24How's everyone doing?
41:25What's good?
41:27Hey, hey, hey, everybody.
41:29This is Mama Donna.
41:30Really quick, before I want to get started, you guys, I just want to give a shout out to
41:34Leslie.
41:35She works for a girl.
41:37She's so famous.
41:41Oh, you got it, Mama.
41:43You got it.
41:49I did good for you.
42:05Who gets to experience that explosive growth and income in success?
42:11Look where we're at.
42:14Pack those outfits.
42:15Pack those clothes.
42:16Pack the suitcase.
42:17Here we go.
42:19Here we go.
42:24Catastrophic growth.
42:25That's a pretty close word for what was happening.
42:28It was a grenade exploding.
42:31It was like flying a plane while you're still building the plane.
42:35And you don't even know how all the pieces of the plane work.
42:41And you've never flown a plane.
42:43You're not even a pilot.
42:46It was a corporate tornado for sure.
42:48You don't know what that tornado is like unless you're in the middle of it looking through
42:54the eye of the tornado.
43:03This is the greatest psychological experiment in history because everybody gets a box of
43:08stuff.
43:08And what did you do with it?
43:11Helping families, blessing lives was their motto.
43:16And I started to see this light at the end of the tunnel that that was going to happen
43:21for me.
43:23I thought I had answered all of my questions and problems that I had.
43:28And it seemed too good to be true.
43:31And it was.
43:33They went too fast.
43:35Way, way, way too fast.
44:01Way, way, way too fast.
44:07It's hard to say I'm sorry.
44:11It's hard to make the things I did and done.
44:16A lesson I've earned too well for sure.
44:22You're all I ever wanted.
44:26You're all I ever needed.
44:30So tell me what to do now when I want you back.
44:37Tell me what to do now when I want you back.
