00:00Paris Saint-Nationale has defended its Johor Chapter's decision to go solo in the next state election,
00:06saying it does not amount to a betrayal of the unity government.
00:10BN Secretary-General Zamri Abdul-Kadir said BN backed Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim
00:16to form the unity government out of national responsibility and to ensure political stability.
00:21He said the pact would remain until the parliamentary term ends
00:25and BN would continue playing its role to preserve the government's stability and the people's welfare.
00:31Last week, Johor BN Chairman and Mentri-Bassar On Hafiz Ghazi announced
00:36that the coalition would contest all 56 seats in the next Johor election.
00:41On Hafiz said the decision was made after considering the views and aspirations of the people of Johor
00:47as well as feedback from UMNO and BN grassroots leaders in the state.
00:51The announcement sparked speculation over the political landscape ahead of the state polls,
00:57particularly on whether the alliance between BN and Pakatan Harapan would fall apart.
