With a breathtaking view of the Aegean Sea, Asprolithos Villa was designed to reflect the simplicity and aesthetic of traditional Greek design. Constructed of locally sourced stone, each of the three villas has been whitewashed to maximise the reflection of light and heat. Each of the villas is connected to the other by large outdoor communal areas, surrounded by a contrasting raw stone wall. Inside, the 40 square metre spaces have been divided into zones by raising the living area, and recessing parts of the kitchen. The villa's built-in sofa allows the area around it to function as additional storage, while also doubling as a small desk. Throughout the villa, the focus is always looking out towards the sea. Creating a calm relaxing environment as you move from zone to zone.

00:04The villa is located in Kalolivadhi, on the island of Kychnos in Kyklades, Greece.
00:16It was important for us to talk about Greek culture, aesthetics and simplicity through our design.
00:32The client had some land on the island and wanted to create three private boutique villas with communal areas that
00:40can be used by all three villas.
00:45The 40 square meter houses are situated in such a way so each one of them can enjoy the magnificent
00:52Aegean sea view.
00:56The houses have been constructed using local stone by local craftsmen and have been whitewashed as this is a traditional
01:05common practice in Kyklades in order to achieve sun reflection and the best cooling conditions in the interior of the
01:13house.
01:16For the interior, the idea was to divide the space into two zones by raising the bedroom and bathroom using
01:24a couple of steps and having the kitchen and living space in the lower part of the villa.
01:31The design lines are minimal as it should be with ecstatic interiors.
01:37The main entrance of the complex is a stone archway which is left in its natural color in order to
01:45stand out and also frame the white houses.
01:50As you enter the villa you can take a glimpse of the view on your left.
01:56On your right there is a niche which is part of the kitchen.
02:02There is space for kitchen devices and a small hidden fridge in the bottom cupboard.
02:09The kitchen is in the same space as the living space.
02:14It is L-shaped and combines a kitchen counter and a dining bench.
02:22The kitchen is equipped with a two stove cooktop and a sink.
02:28We chose not to have a dining table in this villa as the dining counter is very practical for a
02:35quick bite.
02:37As the villa has a generous outdoor area it can also be used as a dining area.
02:46The living space consists of an L-shaped sofa which is built into the villa.
02:52It is made from painted cement and birch wood in its natural color.
03:00It can convert into a double bed to accommodate an extra two people.
03:13On the ceiling we even painted the wooden beams white so it matches the all-white philosophy of the interior
03:21space.
03:23We added a wooden shelf to create a functional separation between the living space and the bedroom space but with
03:31the visual connection maintained.
03:35The sleeping area is two steps higher than the living area.
03:43A bed base as well as the bed side tables were custom built into the space and made in the
03:50same way as the sofa.
03:53Above the bed is a recessed wall with a built-in lighting and a shelf.
04:00The bedroom also features an open wardrobe niche and an integrated desk overlooking the view of the house.
04:11It was a really important aspect of the design to combine materials, colors and textures that create a unified, natural
04:19and calm environment.
04:24The bathroom is next to the bedroom and is semi-open.
04:29We added frosted glass to divide the shower from the bedroom which creates privacy but allows you to see the
04:37space around you.
04:39There is a vanity across from the shower and a toilet.
04:46Since this is a summer house, the exterior space is part of the living area.
04:55The wooden pergola provides some shade. It also creates beautiful shadows depending on the time of the day.
05:08On the other side of the pool is a bench and a built-in planter which is a great spot
05:14for a morning coffee or some drinks by the pool.
05:20We left small openings in the walls for small visual connections with the common spaces.
05:29The natural stone on the floor, which is very popular on the island, creates a sense of familiarity.
05:39Small spaces are very interesting and challenging.
05:44You can't afford to waste space. Every centimeter is important.
05:50We believe that everything is possible and nothing is too small as long as you take advantage of every opportunity
05:58each space can provide.
06:01There are always opportunities when designing small spaces.
06:06It's like a puzzle connecting tiny pieces to create a functional space.
06:26So if someone else has a final space that you just got a gap and what do you really need
06:29to see with the lack of time?
06:29alguns at what you like price makes like they talk 2,1 So what are they trying to fill,
