01:00old our flat is open plan with the loft before we used to be in London and then the flat

01:09ceiling I think we just wanted to have something similar it's quite unusual to find in Tokyo we
01:16think high ceilings makes the space bigger on entering the flat there is a big built-in storage
01:23unit as we love fashion we own many shoes we found adjustable shoe organizers we can stack the shoes
01:32on top of each other in front of the entrance there's access to our balcony the balcony space
01:42we use for drying our clothes and also gardening the living room is a space filled with our favorite
01:52things the main feature is all the plans and second-hand apple boxes that we use as shelves we arrange

15:38Living in Tokyo means dealing with limited space in a dense environment. It also leads
15:46you to the simplest way of life and way of thinking. It doesn't matter if the space is small or
15:54large.
15:55It's about how you can adjust your life in a simple way. I designed this home for my partner and
16:03my cat
16:04Kochi. It has been our home and office.
16:14The apartment is located in Setagaya Ward which is five to ten minutes away from central Tokyo.
16:23The train station is nearby and there are temples, shops and parks.
16:30The building was built in 1979. There are seven apartments here, each one with a different layout.
16:40The plan was to create a combined home and office. The space can function independently,
16:47but it's all connected. I wanted the space to be very simple, warm and comfortable.
16:56I wanted the space to be very comfortable. Originally, there are two bedrooms on the opposite side of the house.
17:01The kitchen and bathroom were in the center of the house and connected to a living room.

18:13Because of the apartment regulation, I couldn't make a chimney for the traditional fireplace,
18:19so a bioethanol fireplace was the next best choice. We love cooking, so the kitchen had to have both
18:30functionality and a simple look that would be a part of the living room. The kitchen has a gas stove,
18:37a fish grill, an oven, and a large sink. The fridge and small pantry are hidden in the corner of
18:46the kitchen.
18:47I wanted to hide some electric appliances, so I placed them on the side as you cannot see from the
18:55living room.
18:57The base component of the L-shaped kitchen and the small dining table are made of
19:03wood and finished with water-resistant plastering. It looks like concrete, but the cabinet was easy to
19:11install and the finish was done at the site.
19:16The office space is next to the living room. The thick beams coming down from the ceiling at both ends
19:23of the space create a cozy nook. The desk is made out of laminated wood. There are two wall-mounted
19:32bookshelves above the desk. There was a bit of space at the end of the office, so we created a
19:39floor-to-ceiling closet.
19:43The bathroom and the toilet are in separate rooms. There is a storage behind the mirror and even more
19:52storage built into the wall next to the sink. There is a washer-dryer and Kochi's litter box.
20:00The bathroom has a wet room. It is an all-in-one bathroom space which contains both a shower and

20:14When you enter the toilet room, there is a room with a unique floating sink. When we have guests,
20:21they are able to use the toilet and wash their hands here. That way, we can keep our bathroom private.
20:28I only use ambient lighting for this small space to make it feel comfortable.

32:15カウンタートップのステンレスと箱に統一感を持たせるために、シルバーのシートを扉に貼っています。全体の色を統一させることで、家具のような外観を作っています。また、レンジフードも壁と同じ色にして、機械として目立たないように工夫しています。私が…彼女は届かないので、
32:45基本的には入り切りしている。お湯が出るスイッチと、ここにキッチン用のスイッチがあるので、夜、料理をする時だったり、火を使う時は、ここにスイッチを押して、料理をして作業しています。シンクの前は、アクリルの板をかけています。水が飛び散るのが、ガラスが汚れちゃうので、普通にこの板が刺さっているだけなので、
33:07汚れないように差し込んでいます。2人で料理することが多いので、こういうのあったら便利だよねと言って、このトロリは後から設計しました。トロリには炊飯器が収納され、ご飯を炊く時に使います。2人の作業スペースとして、
33:27自由に動かして使っています。こうやって、ここでお米を炊きながら、ここでもカットできるますし、ここですぐ洗い物とかもできるので、ここに置きながら、料理することが多いです。
33:40ここには割と使用頻度がそこまで高くない容器たちを入れていて、ボトルだったり、瓶だったり、お弁当箱とかが収納されています。
34:07あと、このキャスターが透明なのを結構こだわっていて、黒だと色が目立ってしまうんですけれども、透明なもので存在感がなくなるように考えました。ロックがかけられるようにも奥はなっているので、地震の時とかも動かないように考えました。窓の間にある棚は、
34:36住み始めてから2人でDIYで作ったものです。窓枠に棚板をかけるというような、簡単な作りになっています。ここにはよく使うキッチンツールを置くようにしていて、この木の棒は、IKEAで買ったものを板に取り付けています。キッチンの横にあるカップボードは、食器の他にも電子レンジやオーブンを収納しています。このボックスは食器棚になっています。
34:56中には電子レンジやトースターが入っています。ここは無印の収納を使って、小さなマグカップやグラスを収納しています。食器を、ここの2段では収納しています。
35:08この奥には、こういう食器の収納を効率的にするようなものを使って、多くのお皿を収納しています。

35:35ダイニングスペースについては、リビングと一体的にも使える柔軟な使い方ができるように、通常より少し小さなサイズでダイニングテーブルをデザインしました。
36:02一見、この天板がすごく薄く見えると思うんですけど、実は木の天板を、このスチールの足の中に一部落とし込んでいて、なので、外側だけがこの厚みで出てきているということで、すごく軽やかなデザインになっていると思います。これらの椅子は、中古でネットで購入しているんですけれども、
36:29新品を買うより安く手に入れることができますし、手放すときも価値が落ちないので、そのような購入方法にしています。キッチンダイニングは窓がたくさん開いているので、植物が育つにはとても適している環境です。引っ越す前から植物を育てたいと思ってたんですけれども、
36:56実際に植物を育てて囲われてみると、とてもリラックスして暮らすことができるなと感じています。この植物はウンベラータで、この家に引っ越した当初に購入したんですけれども、最初は1メートルぐらいの高さだったんですけれども、この家に来てから倍以上ぐらいの高さまで成長しました。
37:16ダイニングキッチンにある窓のうちの一つに、通常よりも出っ張った窓枠を設けていますが、ここには私たちの趣味のものを集めたものを、置くための棚として活用できる窓枠として作りました。
37:39通常の住宅では冷蔵庫や洗濯機が表に出てくることがよくあるのですが、こういった小さな家では、そういった存在感がすごく大きく出てしまう可能性があるので、それをできるだけ隠すように、こういった半透明のボックスの中に収納しました。
38:02この半透明のボックスは、右側が冷蔵庫と洗濯機が入っていて、左側にトイレが収納されています。洗面スペースに外側の窓からの光を通すために、半透明の素材を使っていて、それによって洗面スペースに光を取り込んでいます。
38:32このカーテンはお風呂に入る前に、このように閉めると簡単な脱衣スペースになります。こちらの奥がトイレスペースになっています。トイレのところに小さな窓があるので、この箱は光を通すために、こういう光を通すポリカーボネートの素材を使用しました。ここが洗面室になっています。
38:58これは既製品のものを使っていて、ここにタオルをかけたり、こういった洗うための洗剤のボトルをかけるようなバーになっています。ネットバスはこの空いている隙間に作ってもらった台があるので、ここに持って開けて入るような感じです。
39:19このお風呂は外観はオーダーメイドのように見えますが、中は一般的なユニットバスを使っており、コストを下げることに役立っています。木毛セメント板は給水・給温の性質があり、このグレーの色自体は素材そのものの色です。
39:42この家のコンセントやスイッチは、なるべく目立たないようなところに配慮しました。壁の仕上げについては、もともとの構造の壁をシンプルに塗装しただけのものになりますが、解体の時の跡だったりとか、昔の状態というのをあえて残した状態にしています。
40:10小さい場所の中でも、明るさや広がりを感じる場所を作ることを意識しています。狭いというふうに考えるのではなくて、どちらかというと、外に近いというふうに思ったことは、一つの発見だったかなと思います。それも楽しんで工夫して、自分たちで設計というか、

48:35とにかくまずコンクリートで建てようというのがありましたあとは本をたくさん持っていたのでその本が全部しまえる、収蔵できることお互いよく喋るのでどこにいてもお互いの声が聞こえて相手が何をしているかなんとなく感じられるようなそんな空間の家がいいなと思って設計をしていました

55:19コンパクトな家なので視線が上がっちゃうと空間が狭く感じちゃうんですよねだから床に座ってとかいろんな座ったり腰掛ける場所があるので思い思いの場所に座って過ごすっていう感じで作っています
55:49ベッドはなかなかこのスペースに置けるちょうどいいものがなかったのでこれも全部自分でデザインして作っています休みの日とかは妻はだいたいここの上をソファーみたいにしてここで本読んだりしていますそのベッドが置いてあるところは西向きなんですけど大きな対向部があって
56:14すごく日が当たる場所なのでそこにたくさん植物を置いていますベッドの前には本棚を延長してベッドボードをつけていて本棚というよりはちょっと収納っぽくなっていますリビングからもう一段上がる階段もスチールでプリをしています

57:02逆にお風呂とかは全然気にならないお互い気にならないのでガラス張りにしていてちょっと見えたくない時だけカーテンをたまにしたりみたいな使い方になっています一番上のフロアには手すりを兼ねたチールのバーがあってなっているんですけど普段はここで洗濯したものを干したりしています
57:31寝室の上ははしごをつけて上がれるようになっていて上が屋上になっています屋上からは夏場とかは花火大会の花火が見えたりします小さい建築だからこそその小ささを逆手にとって大きな軌跡や視線の抜けようを作ったりいろんな居場所を作ることで
