00:00How about the damage that Mickelson's done on his reputation here?
00:04You know, I think you're going to move forward,
00:06and there's going to be a question of whether or not
00:08he'll be an official starter one day.
00:10I mean, obviously right now you have Watson, and you have Jack,
00:14and you have Player, and I'm sure in the future you may have
00:16Faldo, Tiger, and then who?
00:19You know, you would assume that would have been Phil,
00:22but how much of a reputation bang has lived on to his resume
00:26and to his stature in the PGA?
00:29Unfortunately, Dan, I think it's partially ruined it.
00:33You know, Phil, it really kind of baffles me how beloved he still is
00:38because he's really fallen off in my mind.
00:43It's hard to respect the man.
00:45I personally know, you know, some of the people here in Las Vegas
00:49that he has, you know, had disagreements with,
00:53specifically Billy Walters, and, you know, I work for Mr. Walters,
00:57and that didn't go over well with Phil, and, you know, so he's gambling.
01:03Who cares?
01:03You know, I live in Las Vegas.
01:04That can be a problem, but I'm not going to persecute someone just for that.
01:10Now, apparently he's cleaned up some of those issues.
01:12I don't really know, but I think he's done a lot of different things
01:16over the years to tarnish his reputation,
01:18and it seems like he's kind of at a low point right now.
01:21I know he's dealing with some family issues that I don't wish upon anybody
01:25like him or not, and that's a tough thing,
01:28and that I don't believe influences at all his reputation.
01:32That's aside from that.
01:34But there have been a lot of things in the game that I think have turned
01:38a lot of people off, the live being one of them,
01:41and not just so much the live, Dan, but also, you know,
01:45the lack of sincerity.
01:50You know, we're doing it to grow the game.
01:52Why don't you just come out and say you needed the money, Phil?
01:54I mean, people would accept you and respect you more.
01:57Like Dustin Johnson said, he goes, hey, you know,
02:00it's a pretty nice retirement egg, and everybody loves DJ,
02:03and I love him because he was honest,
02:05and here he is now competing in the Masters
02:07and some recent major championships,
02:09and, you know, I think people have come to feel better about him
02:15in the last couple of years despite everything,
02:17but it hasn't gone that way for Phil.
