00:04Matthew Pengrazi crossed the finish line this morning, completing the race at 6 a.m. and 52 seconds,
00:14completing the Sonda Monster race in just over 45 hours.
00:18He's now a two-time winner, with last year having completed the race alongside Chris Avery,
00:24when the pair made a pact to complete the race together.
00:27But this year was a very different race, with Pengrazi managing to maintain a massive lead over the competition.
00:37The leading 128-kilometer runner, Thomas Giles, followed behind him,
00:43having crossed the line at 6.17 a.m., completing the Ellery Monster run in a little over 21 hours.
00:50Beautiful, that's the ticket, that's the ticket.
00:52This could be one of the hardest-won finishes the event has seen,
00:56with rain across the weekend making the Ellery Pinta trail wet, slippery and muddy.
01:01I'm pretty cooked and just really stoked to have friends and family here and get a win.
01:12I have the outdoor, a lot of running and yeah, it was a challenge last year.
01:21Simon pushed me to do it and this year I decided to redo it and sort of yeah, prove myself

01:32The event is still very much continuing with the 231, 128 and 65-kilometer marathon runners,
01:41continuing through the finish line as the day continues.
01:44We'll also see two 25-kilometer runs.
01:47Now, I've worked my way up to about 5 kilometers myself, which is a bit short of 231 kilometers.
01:55But I think perhaps with a bit of effort and persistence, maybe I'll get there.
