00:00So, one day we're going to find out when this kid, Brandon Sorsby, grows up and becomes a man here,
00:05what he wants to do in his life.
00:07Now he's trying to petition the NCAA to rule on his case since he's been basically pseudo suspended for his
00:16gambling actions when he was in high school and when he was at Indiana as a backup.
00:21So, now he's petitioned the NCAA and wanting to get a resolution on his case to get back and get
00:28his eligibility back in the NCAA so he can play at Texas Tech.
00:33Kid, you know, you really have an issue right now when it comes to talking about getting into the National
00:40Football League based on a gambling issue.
00:42So, attorneys, again, are representing Texas Tech quarterback Brandon Sorsby and he has notified the NCAA with a request.
00:51And he wants it expedited to get a resolution in the reinstating of his eligibility over the sports gambling allegations
01:00and informing the association that an illegal challenge is imminent.
01:06So, again, all of this said here, you know, first he wants to go into the supplemental draft a week
01:13ago.
01:13And to me, that's not always a great remedy to try to get you into the National Football League.
01:19My best bet would be, I do think you've got to fight to try to get your eligibility back.
01:24But I think it's going to be difficult because of the gambling.
01:27I don't believe the National Football League wants to put this kid in a supplemental draft.
01:31I think he wants them to get his issues resolved before he gets into a position where he'll play in
01:39the NFL.
01:39The NFL doesn't like players involved with gambling.
01:43Now, here's something else to think about.
01:47With the NFL retro a suspension for the kid, if he does get drafted, say he gets drafted by the
01:55Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Browns take him in the second round of the supplemental draft, which would mean that
02:02they would lose the second round pick in the 2028 draft.
02:07You tell me this, okay, is that something the NFL wants to do, is have a kid that's involved with
02:15gambling, with the National Football League, come in and say,
02:18hey, look, since you drafted him, we're going to retro that punishment that he had in college, and he's going
02:25to sit out a year.
02:26You're talking about a scenario where he could sit out potentially two years before he gets a chance to play
02:33some football in the NFL or really in college football.
02:36So my best bet, I would think that you would try to get your eligibility back so that you could
02:42go back to Texas Tech.
02:44You signed a $6.1 million deal and try to resolve your issues in playing.
02:49Maybe you play at a lower level, but for me, this kid's got to get his backside on the football
02:55field, and he's got to outrun these gambling charges.
02:59Eligibility for him to play in college football, I think, is more important than getting a chance to play in
03:06the National Football League.
03:07Make no mistake right now, there is a situation where you have to look at how the league is going
03:13to look at him
03:14and how the National Football League is going to look at how the eligibility is going to go forward with
03:20the kid here
03:20and what they want and how they're going to try to put him in the league.
03:25Make no mistake about it.
03:27The National Football League wants no image, no issues when it comes to gambling like this.
03:33They don't want any issue when it comes to it.
03:36So, again, if I were him, I would try to go and get my NCAA eligibility back and try to
03:42get back on a football field.
03:44And if that means even having him maybe step down to another level, so be it.
03:50But getting into a position where the National Football League is going to look at gambling
03:55and you're going to go into the National Football League's draft, make no mistake,
04:00this is not where you want to be if you are Swordsby.
04:04You want to get a chance to get your eligibility taken care of so that you can play and outrun
04:10this scenario.
04:11The NFL doesn't like gambling in any form or fashion.
04:17That's not where they are with this.
04:19The NFL is not going to take a kid in a supplemental draft and go,
04:24oh, kid, why did he lose his eligibility?
04:26Because of gambling.
04:27He had issues at IU and in high school.
04:31That's not where the NFL travels.
04:33And that's not the lane they're in.
04:35So, this kid's in a pretty tough spot here.
04:38Signed a gigantic deal when it came to, you know, him having the ability to be able to make a
04:44lot of money there in Lubbock.
04:46He's got a chance to go there and make a killing.
04:49But, again, getting this situation resolved is going to be probably his future.
04:57If he doesn't get this situation resolved, I could see this kid never playing again.
