"If Drake Maye is indeed the real deal, that we think he is, there is no way the Patriots win less than 12 games with that schedule."
DO you agree with the caller? How many wins will Patriots have?
Transcript
00:00The Patriots schedule release was yesterday, and one of the things I noticed, and Curtis
00:03had pointed this out with the opening game, and I think it applies now for multiple games
00:08since Patriots season, is they play the Seahawks on a Wednesday night at 820, then basically
00:14get 11 days off before they have to play the Steelers.
00:17They'll play the Bears on a Thursday night and get 10 days off before they have to play
00:22the Dolphins in a late afternoon game in November.
00:24They have to go to Germany, but then they get the bye week immediately following that
00:29leading into a Sunday night game against the Chargers, and they play the Vikings on a Thursday
00:34night and then get 12 days off before they have to face the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday
00:39Night Football.
00:40I think the schedule is definitely more difficult, as in the teams you're playing this year are
00:44more difficult, but I think the mini-bys that they're going to get multiple times throughout
00:49the season, Curtis mentioned the placement of that Week 11 bye week, I think is going
00:55to really benefit the Patriots this year.
00:56You're going to have a couple short weeks, but it's coming off like a game against the
01:00Jets into the Bears, right?
01:02And a game coming off the Bills game into a short week against the Vikings may be probably
01:06a little bit tough, but if you can kind of weather the storm in the first four weeks,
01:10I think the amount of time off you're going to get in between some of these games is really
01:15going to benefit the health of this team and keep them ready to go throughout the entire
01:19season.
01:19I find it so hard to make any determination about it because of the incessant drumbeat
01:27about AJ Brown and the automatic assumption that he's coming here.
01:31So every time I look at it, I go, you know, you look, you're, you're, when we were talking
01:35about it yesterday, talking about starting on the road against the defending Super Bowl
01:40champs, you're like, oh, that's going to be a tough game to win.
01:42But in your mind, it all changes in two weeks.
01:46If you get, if you get AJ Brown and Greg to like when they were doing the schedule release
01:52on ESPN last night, I kind of just had it on in the background.
01:55I look up and their chef are talking about AJ Brown, probably going to the Patriots on
02:00June 1st.
02:00Like it is, it feels like the worst kept secret in football.
02:04So you may even have higher expectations once it comes through in, you know, just two weeks
02:09now.
02:10So, yeah, I mean, it seems like he's definitely going somewhere.
02:12Like I saw in Philly, the, the fans were bummed because they had, there was a AJ Brown banner
02:20up on the stadium and they took that down yesterday or something.
02:22I mean, so he's definitely going somewhere.
02:25I mean, I, and it, I mean, he's coming to the Patriots.
02:28Yeah.
02:28Okay.
02:28So you're, you're just firmly convinced it's a done deal and no, no question in your mind
02:33because Schefter and everybody else has been told it.
02:36Think about how much the ESPN and Fox and all these networks and radio shows do to drum
02:41up false interest on stories that are based on nothing but a whim and how empty this period
02:47usually is.
02:48AJ Brown is a top receiver.
02:51Everybody that watches ESPN thinks he could help their team.
02:54So if there was any legitimacy to any potential that this grade could not actually happen
02:59with the Patriots getting the player, they would be going out of their way to talk.
03:02There'd be some pushback.
03:03Somebody else would say, Oh, actually the bears are in on him or something like that.
03:07Like there's another competitor who emerges.
03:09Cause it doesn't really benefit anyone to trot out every week and say, we think he's still
03:14going to the Patriots.
03:15That's not a new story.
03:17And even the Rams who were mentioned to be in on him were the ones that were like, don't
03:21talk about us.
03:22We're fine.
03:23Like we're good.
03:23Yeah.
03:24How many wins when you, when you look at that schedule, shine, where, where are you at?
03:28Right.
03:28So I think the over under, uh, by Vegas is right.
03:31I 10 and a half is the right number.
03:33I'm going to go with 11.
03:34I think the Patriots get to 11, barely get over that 10 and a half number.
03:38Okay.
03:39How do we feel about 11 wins?
03:40So a little bit of trepidation.
03:44I mean, yeah, a little trepidation there.
03:46I think that's aggressive, but I like it.
03:49I think there's a lot of people that are waiting to see with how the, well, how the coach is,
03:52how the team looks.
03:53Okay.
03:54This is a personal plea to the NFL because the schedules came out last night and it wasn't
03:59just about the Patriots.
04:01Although that's how it feels around here.
04:03Please, for the love of God, I'm talking to you, Roger Goodell and every TV network and
04:09streamer, can we stop pretending that the Cowboys still matter?
04:14God, thank you.
04:15Why do we have the Cowboys in Sunday night football for the first Sunday night football
04:20game against the Giants again?
04:22Awful.
04:23Like this is horrible.
04:24They have six prime time games.
04:26This is a team who has not won a Superbowl in 30 years.
04:30And on top of that, in the last 25 years, okay.
04:33So the last 25 years, you have the Patriots win six Superbowls.
04:37They missed the playoffs for two years after 2021.
04:40And they're like relegated to these 1 PM spots every single week.
04:45We call that the Mayo schedule.
04:471 PM on Sundays.
04:48The Cowboys haven't made the playoffs.
04:50Stay for the Gatorade now.
04:51The Cowboys haven't made the playoffs in two years and they have six prime time games.
04:56Like make it make sense.
04:58How is this brand considered so strong at this point?
05:01But it has to do, the games have to do well ratings wise.
05:05They do.
05:05They're not dumb, but I, I understand.
05:08I, I, I know the companies that are doing this are paying tens of billions of dollars
05:13for these rights and they're not going to just light it on fire.
05:15I just, I usually get it.
05:18Like I may not be into something, but I get why somebody is the Giants and the Cowboys
05:23playing is an immediate Netflix.
05:26Like I don't care, but that's probably the, the Harbaugh thing.
05:30I would assume.
05:31No, but I mean, no, but like literally whether it's Coughlin Harbaugh, the, the, the, uh,
05:37porn stash McAdoo, like whoever the coach of the Giants is, they're playing the Cowboys
05:42on Sunday night that there's literally one highlight.
05:44It was a one-handed catch by Odell Beckham Jr.
05:47And that was in a Cowboys Giants game.
05:49Name me another moment.
05:50That's memorable.
05:51And, and to me, I just, I feel like if they allowed it to be better teams, I don't think
05:57the ratings would suffer.
05:59Yeah.
05:59And it's a self-fulfilling thing.
06:00Cause you're like, well, they're America's team.
06:02Well, you push them down our throat.
06:03I just, I don't understand it.
06:06Like, I don't understand how it, how it continues year after year.
06:10And it's the first segment of every national show is like, Oh, okay.
06:15We're going to Cowboys training camp.
06:17It's like, well, who cares?
06:18Like they don't do anything ever.
06:20And it's, it's like, I can't even compare.
06:22I can't think of another franchise in any other league that gets treated this way.
06:27Like not even the Lakers.
06:29I mean, people try to pretend like the Lakers matter when they have the one bubble championship
06:33recently, but since Kobe, they really haven't, at least they have the Kobe era recently.
06:37We're talking about 1996 for the Dallas Cowboys.
06:41I would say the only comparison and they don't have even the success would be Knicks, like
06:45in terms of coverage, but it still doesn't scratch the surface of the Cowboys.
06:49Mago, thank you.
06:50How about that?
06:51How about that lead from Mago?
06:52It's a personal vendetta.
06:54This is Art from Walpole.
06:56Art, good morning.
06:58Good morning, everybody.
07:00I would like to say that if Drake May is indeed the real deal that we think he is, there
07:07is
07:07no way the Patriots win less than 12 games with that schedule.
07:12I see an easy 12, an easy, if this team is loaded, assuming they get A.J.
07:18Brown, this team is loaded to the gill.
07:22And I see at least 12 wins this year, at least.
07:26Okay.
07:27Assume that Drake progresses like we think.
07:30Yeah.
07:32Listen, I love your optimism.
07:34Three of the first four are on the road against playoff teams, so I don't know that I can be
07:40that optimistic.
07:41Can we really talk about Pittsburgh as a playoff team?
07:44We don't even know who the quarterback is going to be.
07:47They stink.
07:47They have to win that game at home.
07:50Yeah.
07:50Yeah.
07:50I mean, I...
