00:00The BRICS foreign minister's meeting in New Delhi has concluded after two days of high-level discussions
00:06centered on growing geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainty and challenges facing the global south.
00:13Our correspondent Emeril Ayman reports from New Delhi.
00:18The BRICS foreign minister's meeting in New Delhi ended without a joint statement
00:23after member states failed to reach a consensus over the conflict that happened in the Middle East, particularly involving Iran.
00:33Now, differences reportedly emerged between some member countries, especially Iran and United Arab Emirates UAE,
00:40on how the bloc should respond to the ongoing crisis and broader geopolitical tensions in the region.
00:47Instead, India, as chair, issued a chairman's statement at the conclusion of the two days' meeting.
00:55Among the highlights, the BRICS foreign ministers still agreed on several key issues,
01:00including call for an immediate and permanent and an unconditional ceasefire in Gaza,
01:07as well as full humanitarian access into the territory.
01:13The bloc also stressed the importance of freedom of navigation in the Red Sea
01:19and the Bab El Mandate Strait as concerns over the conflict that has disrupted global maritime trade and energy supplies
01:28and also economic stability.
01:30Throughout the meeting, tensions in the Middle East has continued to dominate discussions
01:36among BRIC members and partner countries.
01:40Now, attention will now shift to the BRICS Leaders' Summit in September,
01:46where member states are expected to revisit some of the unresolved issues here in New Delhi.
01:53Now, for now, I'm Abdul Aiman and cameraman Nur Fitri back to the studio.
