00:00A brand new announcement is being played on the Tube this week, featuring the voice of an internationally acclaimed British
00:05artist.
00:21Turner Prize nominee Dame Tracey Emin has lent her voice to TFL to mark Priorities Seating Week,
00:28raising awareness of hidden disabilities and urging commuters to give up their seat to those that need it more.
00:34Nearly 14% of Londoners identify as disabled, many of whom, like Dame Tracey Emin, suffer from hidden disabilities.
00:42In 2020, Tracey underwent surgery to treat squamous cancer on her bladder, leaving her with a stoma.
00:48Sometimes that stoma bag can leak or balloon, so sitting down on public transport makes that travel experience more comfortable
00:55and manageable.
00:56She said,
00:58Any one of us can have a health condition or disability, and because many of these don't have outward cues,
01:03that might mean people miss out on things that would really help them, like getting a seat on public transport.
01:09If you're out and about in London, please do offer your seat if you don't need it yourself.
01:13You never know what a difference you could make.
01:16It coincides with Dame Tracey Emin's exhibition at the Tate Modern, which explores her experiences of cancer and disability.
01:23The announcement is being played at 10 central London underground stations and several bus stations for the duration of this
01:30week.
