00:00Welcome to Florida.
00:02We're having a party!
00:04Home to theme parks, golden tans and 400,000 Brits.
00:08This one is the one with the view.
00:10Wow!
00:11Who've made the Sunshine State their new home.
00:14I feel blessed every single day.
00:16I'm living the American dream. I definitely am.
00:18They've swapped drizzly winters and gas bills for new careers
00:22and seemingly endless fun in the sun.
00:25Two, one, yay!
00:28Get it right and life in Florida can be like a dream come true.
00:32I get to drive a convertible, it's fabulous.
00:35But getting here and staying here takes hard work.
00:38Good job, good job. Keep it going team!
00:40Grit.
00:41Bah!
00:43And determination.
00:44The glamorous side of living in Florida.
00:46These are the Brits who've made their own Escape to Florida.
00:54Today on Escape to Florida.
00:57Cheers!
01:00Sisters Saive and Nassar are trying to sell the Miami dream to their parents.
01:05Here we go. This is more like it.
01:07Oh, Bugatti?
01:08Yeah.
01:08You wouldn't get this at home, would you?
01:10Woo!
01:16Holiday rental owners David and Gina need to rebuild their business after Hurricane Helene.
01:22It's a time crunch.
01:23Every day we're not open, we are losing money.
01:27And it's a big day for the mums-to-be.
01:31They're coming at 12, so we only have like three hours to do everything else.
01:36As they put on a blow-out baby shower, Florida style, for their friends and neighbours.
01:47In Miami, it's another beautiful morning.
01:53And sisters Saive and Nassar are busy at work.
01:59Hello, hi, what's your name?
02:00From that point of view, you can't go back to your gym routine, like, right away.
02:06The sisters have been close since they were tiny.
02:14And now they work side-by-side at their own plastic surgery clinic.
02:19When you have surgery at first, we're going to put a Velcro corset on,
02:23because everybody bloats after surgery.
02:25So I'm Saive's office manager.
02:27She manages the staff, which is good.
02:30If you want to take a seat, Caroline will be with you in just a minute.
02:34Plastic surgeon Saive persuaded her sister Nassar to join her here in 2020.
02:39Some of this is weirdly dirty.
02:41You wouldn't believe it, but the cleaners have been in already.
02:45And they've just made a multi-million dollar investment
02:48into a new state-of-the-art clinic with two operating theatres.
02:53Wow.
02:54Yeah.
02:54So the other day, we took delivery.
02:57I didn't know what was coming, but it was a 40-foot container full of stuff.
03:02They've invested everything into their new surgery.
03:06I love it here, because every day is so different.
03:08You wake up in the morning and you don't know what's going to happen.
03:11So it's pretty exciting.
03:14They love Miami life so much, they want to share it with Dad, Billy, and Mum, Minjo, who are visiting
03:22from Ireland.
03:23I never thought my girls would end up living here.
03:26I mean, it is just beyond my wildest dreams.
03:32How long have you been here?
03:33Seven weeks.
03:34I love having Minjo and Billy here.
03:37It's super fun to have them here.
03:39And I'd like them to be here more often.
03:42Yeah.
03:43I mean, the thing is, the reality is, they're getting older, we're both here, and it would be nice to
03:48have them closer.
03:49Yeah.
03:52Their parents are coming to the end of their stay.
03:55So, the sisters are pulling out all the stops to try to tempt them to move to Florida.
04:01So, I think we should go and see Sam.
04:04All right.
04:05He's not allowed.
04:06Is he not?
04:06No.
04:08As well as working together, the sisters live together in the same apartment block.
04:14So, you have to run out of these lifts, because they just shot on you.
04:21Well, hello.
04:22Hi.
04:22Hi.
04:23Good morning.
04:25Me and Nasa were thinking, because, I mean, especially because we've been so busy while you've been here on this
04:30trip, and it's coming down to your last couple of days now, that today, we're going to take the opportunity
04:37and just do some fun Miami things.
04:40The pressure is on the sisters to sell mum and dad the Miami dream.
04:45You know, because maybe in the future, I mean, who knows, you might be moving here.
04:54The Gulf Coast in Sarasota isn't just home to the beach voted one of the best in the USA.
05:07It's also home to Gina from Manchester.
05:10Look at Gina, she's already on it.
05:13And her husband, David.
05:15Mmm, that looks good.
05:16They moved to Florida with their three kids just over 20 years ago.
05:21Wait till you get a big spill on you now, a big drip.
05:24Yeah.
05:25We decided to leave England because life's better, we can live outdoors here.
05:30A much better way of living, a better way to bring the kids up, you know.
05:36Do you have a preference? Do you want filet or ribeye?
05:38Ribeye.
05:40For the past two decades, the couple have run a successful business, renting out their ten holiday homes to tourists.
05:52But the holiday rentals have been closed for business since they were hit by Hurricane Helene.
05:58This is the devastation, this is the reality of a hurricane.
06:11To see it like this, it's heartbreaking, you know.
06:16David and Gina have been busy getting their holiday homes renovated and repaired, but there's still work to do.
06:28To keep motivated, David's come to scope out some rival holiday properties for ideas.
06:34I need to know where you get the furniture from.
06:36Okay, I'll put you in touch with my guy.
06:40They're owned by his daughter, Lisa.
06:44It's looking really good.
06:45Thank you, I've had some of these tiki huts installed.
06:47Love the tiki huts.
06:48And some nice bright outdoor furniture.
06:50Very Caribbean, very holiday.
06:52Very Florida.
06:53Yeah, very Florida.
06:55I'm trying to get some inspiration.
06:58We've started our remodel and she's completely up and running.
07:02Wasn't affected by the storms, fortunately, because the buildings are elevated.
07:06And she's got guests in.
07:08She's making money.
07:08We're not.
07:09Oh boy.
07:10Hold on a minute.
07:11That's better.
07:12I should have put some little flowers out.
07:14Hold on.
07:14Let me get a nice piece of coffee.
07:15I am a natural spirit level.
07:16Oh God.
07:17No, I am.
07:20And Lisa's gonna help her mum and dad get their ten holiday homes up and running again.
07:25I'd love you to come over.
07:27It's so easy to miss things, so it's always good to have another set of eyes and an expert opinion.
07:32We'll make it perfect for when your guests do come.
07:34But one good turn deserves another.
07:37What's going on?
07:39What's that?
07:40Oh dear.
07:42Looks like somebody's pulled on the curtain a little bit.
07:46And the screw's coming loose.
07:47Have you got people coming in?
07:49Yes, in like an hour.
07:50Uh oh.
07:52Dad to the rescue.
07:54So this is one of them small jobs that always ends up being something else.
08:03And it won't be the first time this has happened.
08:06Oh, while you're here dad.
08:09Result.
08:10I mean like I've not got a million other things I need to be doing but family's family at the
08:15end of the day, right?
08:19Let's hide up my mess or I'll be in trouble.
08:23Yeah, we're going to get on with it. Can't wait to get reopened. We're pretty excited.
08:28Job done.
08:41Just outside Orlando, one Scottish couple have found themselves a little slice of heaven.
08:46It's not going to stretch a bit more.
08:48It's not going to stretch anymore.
08:51Just a short drive from the theme park thrills of Disneyland is the picture perfect town of celebration.
08:59It's where married couple Laura and Lindsay have called home since 2023.
09:05You're funny aren't you?
09:07They already have a family with daughters Darcy age nine and Bella seven, but they're not stopping there.
09:13We have two girls and we're now going to have a boy which is going to change it up.
09:21We chose to come and move over to Florida because it was a place that we had vacationed a lot
09:29and people always think, you know, you vacation so you know the place, you don't know the place until you've
09:34lived there and really experienced it.
09:38In the UK, I was running my consultancy company the way I am here. I just effectively relocated that business.
09:47Wife Lindsay's a full time mom and together they homeschool the girls.
09:52What I tried to do was finish up all their schooling for this term before Lindsay goes into the hospital.
10:00The baby's not you for a few weeks, so it's the perfect time to throw a big baby shower and
10:06they're going all in Florida style.
10:09Let's have fun. Let's celebrate Lindsay as much as we're celebrating the baby and give her a day that's going
10:14to be fun.
10:16Baby knew it was his party today because he was kicking her all night, so she didn't really sleep very
10:21much.
10:21Because when the baby kicks, she's up.
10:25Yes.
10:25And she never goes back to sleep.
10:27It's an expectant time for the whole family.
10:30How are you feeling?
10:31A wee bit worried and exciting.
10:34So you're a little bit worried.
10:35But does mommy do a really good job of looking after you?
10:38Darcy, you know what that means?
10:40It means if mommy is having the baby brought out of her tummy, that means she'll get a little operation,
10:46which means when she comes home, are we going to have to be like her nurse helpers?
10:52Yes. Butlers.
10:53Bottlers. Bottlers. I like that.
10:59To make sure their baby showers are hit, they've got a ton of activities planned.
11:03We need to put the banner up and then we need to do the balloon arches.
11:08In and out.
11:08We need to put the round table there with the tablecloth on it. The bibs and the fabric pans for
11:15the grown-ups. Okay, got that.
11:18They might have the activities under control, but it's harder to predict the number of guests that will turn up.
11:25RSVPs, you have to chase up. Unless it's a wedding. Here it becomes from a start time and goodness knows
11:32when they'll actually leave.
11:38They're coming at 12, so we only have like three hours to do everything else.
11:44The clock is ticking for this celebration in Celebration.
11:48Have you got the cake?
11:49Ah, there's a vital ingredient missing.
12:05In Miami,
12:10Sisters Saive and Nasa are spending some quality time with their parents.
12:17Oh, here he is now.
12:19Dad Billy.
12:20Pop your shoes off.
12:23And Mum Minjo before they go back to Ireland.
12:27Our little facial area here.
12:31Right, in we go. Let's have a look.
12:34They've been staying here for seven weeks, but the Sisters have been so busy at work, family time has been
12:39limited.
12:40We've been neglecting them just a wee bit because we've been working so hard.
12:44So the idea was today we'd take them out, spoil them a wee bit.
12:50The Sisters would love their parents to move out to Miami full time, especially as they're both in their 70s.
12:57Now here we go, this is more like it.
12:59A Bugatti.
13:00Yeah.
13:02So they've planned activities with each of them, hoping to persuade Mum and Dad to make the move to Florida.
13:08I have friends who would not allow their faces to be touched with Botox, filler, anything else, but thankfully I'm
13:16not one of those.
13:17You know, as a plastic surgeon, you know, your mother is a representation of you, you know, so you have
13:24to keep the mammy looking good.
13:28And while Mum Minjo's getting a tune-up.
13:31Now, are you asleep on me?
13:32Oh, no, no, no, no.
13:33Oh, good. Right.
13:37NASA's in the market for a brand new motor.
13:40Billy, do you remember when you were teaching me how to drive?
13:43It's scary to drive around the roads in Miami, so I want something heavy so I feel safe.
13:47And just like the old days, she wants her dad's input.
13:50He helped me get my first car when I was 18 and it was a Fiat Cinquecento, best car ever,
13:55but it was falling apart.
13:58I'm certainly not getting that there.
14:00I wouldn't have the neighbours.
14:02You don't like it?
14:02No, it's a keeper.
14:09What about these here anyhow?
14:11This is more my scene.
14:12I have a few outside if you guys want to take a look.
14:15NASA and Billy are gearing up for a test drive, but phase one of mother-daughter beauty school is almost
14:20done.
14:21Is that stinging you at all?
14:23No, it's not stinging.
14:23I'm just going to fan you down a little bit.
14:28So now, we're going to do a wee bit of filler.
14:32All these procedures should only ever be carried out by a qualified professional like Sythe.
14:38Real quick.
14:39Okay, one, two, three.
14:41You doing okay?
14:43I've been a fan of Botox before Sythe.
14:48Oh, that's not true.
14:49I did your first Botox.
14:51Did you really?
14:52Yeah.
14:53I've been doing this a long time.
14:55Okay.
14:56I'm going to do one, two, three.
14:57There you go.
14:59And this will be a wee bit lumpy to begin with.
15:01You know, as usual.
15:03So, okay.
15:05Grand.
15:09We're going to make it right at that light up there.
15:12At the light.
15:12Okay.
15:15I love it.
15:17NASA and Billy are also hitting a few lumps and bumps.
15:20Whoa.
15:21Sorry.
15:24NASA's trying out a Jeep-style Mercedes that could cost up to a quarter of a million dollars.
15:30Are you sweating?
15:31Nope, not yet.
15:33It's starting.
15:33You should be.
15:35Billy taught me how to drive.
15:37Are you sweating, Billy?
15:38No, no, no, no.
15:40For me.
15:41Okay, I'm going over there.
15:45Woo!
15:48Would you take it?
15:49I liked it.
15:50It felt very powerful.
15:52Okay, that definitely gives me something to think about.
15:54Thank you so much again.
15:55It's been really, really fun to drive a quarter of a million dollar car around Miami.
16:00It's been even better to spend some time with my dad.
16:02Did you enjoy it?
16:04I certainly did, daughter.
16:05Yeah.
16:06So good to be here in Miami.
16:07Yeah.
16:08It's been fun.
16:09Florida is very, to me, to Minjo as well, it's very safe.
16:15And the people are quite friendly.
16:20Sounds like a Florida move might be one step closer for Dad Billy.
16:24And for Mum Minjo, being here could have another advantage.
16:28Wistfully, from time to time, I look at mammies with their families all around them.
16:34But having said that, that just does not compare with how proud I am that they have got this far.
16:41They are absolutely great.
16:43But this Florida family fun day is far from over.
16:47It's lovely.
16:48Thank you so much.
16:50No bother at all.
16:51My lovely girl.
16:53Good luck.
17:00Good luck.
17:03Good luck.
17:10Good luck.
17:13Bye to the next.
17:16Good luck.
17:17of daughter Lisa, David and his wife Gina have been busy repairing their ten
17:21holiday rentals after they are wiped out by Hurricane Helene.
17:26All right, Villa 4. No, Villa 1. Oh, Villa 1. Just testing.
17:34And Lisa's taking charge of the final snagging list.
17:38OK, let's check all the bulbs and see what works, what doesn't work.
17:42So the goal now is to get the units redone and open as soon as possible and start earning
17:48some money back to pay for all this remodeling that they're having to do.
17:53That's been in there for six months. It was six months ago the storm hit. Look, the water's
17:58still in there. Every day that we're closed, we're losing money. So once we made the decision
18:04to rebuild, it's like we need to get on. As fast as possible.
18:08This is just a grim reminder of what we actually went through and that's why I want to get rid
18:12of it because that's the last piece of, like, what's left of this destruction. So when
18:17that's gone, that'll be a good day.
18:21Six months after the devastating hurricane, the pressure's on to get the rentals back on
18:26the market. Memory foam! Oh!
18:31It's a good one. All right, let's check out the bedroom. So is this outdoor furniture? Why
18:42you can't really have an excuse for that. And it's been very expensive. We're into six
18:47figures, which is shocking to us. What we really need to do, we need to get reopened. We've
18:52got to, like, fill that pot back up, basically. Yeah. Yeah. Sooner the better.
18:58How soon is down to them, and how quickly they can make their holiday homes sparkle. Put
19:04it on the list. You've got a very long list, Dad. They need to get the final jobs completed
19:10and apartments furnished. It's peak season. I've got no money coming in. I need to get things
19:16fired up. My contractors are almost done. I've got empty rooms. I need furniture and I want
19:21to get this show back on the road. Well, good luck with that. I'm going to need it.
19:34Near Orlando, in the town of Celebration, there's a party about to get started.
19:44So we still have to go out to the store and get a few last minute things, like ice and
19:48stuff, and then... Clingfilm. Clingfilm, which they call it saran wrap here. I need to get
19:57some cash to tip all the people that are helping us out with work and stuff today.
20:01Take pictures. Yeah.
20:04Expectant mum, Lindsay, and her wife, Laura, are throwing a party for their son-to-be.
20:10It's called a baby sprinkle and not a baby shower because it's not the first baby. If I'm
20:16understanding the history of it correctly, a lot of the Americans were very quick to
20:20correct us that it should be a baby sprinkle and not a shower. So that was something we
20:24learned.
20:24Baby shower.
20:25Kids are going to come. Parents are going to come.
20:28Yeah.
20:29Have cake.
20:33Speaking of cake, their friend Summer's offered to make cupcakes.
20:37Summer.
20:38Hey, girl. I'm not sure we can make it today with everything going on.
20:44What?
20:44I haven't even started on the cakes.
20:47Stop.
20:47I'm so sorry. If anything changes, I will let you know.
20:51Accept.
20:52Heart.
20:53Stop.
20:57So we can't have a party without cake.
21:00Bala and Darcy will never forgive us if there's not a cake here or cupcakes or something.
21:05Yeah, because I hadn't ordered any other, like, desserts.
21:10Okay, so what are we going to do?
21:13Shall we see if scoops have got any ice cream cakes?
21:20You're going to have to go over now, though.
21:25I can do all this. You need to go find a cake.
21:32Having an ice cream cake may be the easiest solution right now, but I am a little nervous.
21:38Laura heads out on a cake hunt, but knows heavily pregnant wife Lindsay is very particular.
21:45Hi, Miss Amy.
21:46Hey, how are you?
21:48Not so good. I have a cake emergency for our baby shower.
21:54Okay.
21:54I know you're busy, but I really need an ice cream cake.
21:58Let's brainstorm. Let's think about this.
22:00So, any flavour?
22:02I will take anything, because it's all delicious stuff.
22:04I'll take anything, it's fine.
22:06And a boy?
22:07Yes, it's a boy.
22:08Okay, awesome.
22:09How about blue sprinkles?
22:10Yes, that sounds great.
22:12Get a bit of blue.
22:13Okay.
22:14See you in two hours.
22:15Thank you so much, Miss Amy.
22:17Bye, Susan.
22:19Yeah.
22:21Today's baby shower is about Lindsay, but it's also a chance for the couple to give something
22:26back to their friends and neighbours.
22:28We were from small towns, and we were used to that kind of close-knit community, and that's
22:35what celebration has for us, and we love that.
22:38There's obviously, like, any small town, you know, there's all the things that you don't
22:42see like that, where you could find if your grass isn't a certain height, and silly things
22:46like that, but at the heart of it, yes, celebration is what a lot of people think is an idyllic
22:53American white picket fence town.
22:56While Laura and Lindsay get ready for their guests, daughter Darcy's been getting creative.
23:01I've just came out, and I've seen Darcy's drawn IVF, the little heart and the boy symbol.
23:08So, yeah, they know all about the process.
23:11We're super educated on it, probably more than some grown-ups, and, yeah, it's just lovely
23:17that she's had a little moment about her brother.
23:22An hour later, and bang on time, the guests have started arriving.
23:26We're so happy that you made it.
23:29With no family here, events like this are crucial for the couple to make community connections.
23:36Okay, we'll talk later, okay.
23:39One of Laura and Lindsay's new fan friends is neighbor Emily.
23:44So when you move countries, you want to have, you know, a family, and people that you can rely on.
23:50It means a lot, because I think from the start, we just kind of connected and felt like family.
23:55So they had, you know, the support system that they needed here, probably as well as at home.
24:01But I just think it was a good move. It was definitely a good move for all of us.
24:06I think we're the ones who benefited from it.
24:13With more kids and parents arriving by the minute, it's time for Laura to go and collect the emergency ice
24:19cream cake.
24:19We have your cake all ready.
24:22Oh, amazing. Thank you so much. You've saved me. I really appreciate it.
24:31Cake in hand, Laura needs to hot foot back to the house and the party.
24:36I just hope it doesn't melt on the way across this street.
24:56In Miami, sisters, Saive and NASA's mission to impress their visiting parents is in full swing.
25:09First, Saive has taken her dad, Billy, out to indulge his love of cycling.
25:13You wouldn't get this at home, would you?
25:15You certainly would not.
25:18The plan is, you know, to show them a good time and see if maybe someday, in the not-so
25:26-distant future, they want to move here.
25:28Yeah, we can convince them. Miami has a lot to offer.
25:30Yeah.
25:34That is gorgeous.
25:36Oh, you're so handsome.
25:41While NASA's charming her mum with some puppy love, Saive and Billy are exploring Miami Beach.
25:48Unlike at home, like, you know, you get out maybe once a week if you're lucky.
25:53Yeah.
25:54And if it doesn't pour rain on you.
25:55But here, like, you can depend on it.
25:56I did not miss that. Let me tell you.
25:58So today, as much as I hate cycling, Billy loves it.
26:01And I wanted to show him a little bit around Miami Beach and Muscle Beach.
26:07I love coming down here.
26:09Yeah.
26:09Looking at these boys.
26:12Lots of muscles, obviously. Perfect bodies everywhere. It's just, you know, such a Miami vibe.
26:20Muscle Beach is a free outdoor gym that's been around since the 1990s.
26:25It kind of sucks you into this eternal youth.
26:30Meanwhile, Sister Nasa and her mum are preparing for a walk with the best dressed dog in town.
26:36Well, I took it to the next level with the clothes shopping.
26:39Oh, well, indeed, I do know that.
26:43And living in Miami, Nasa can't have her Pomeranian angel baby looking like a dog's dinner.
26:49A little muscle man.
26:51Luckily, she has a wardrobe full of outfits to pick from.
26:55He has really cute little schoolboy outfits. I'm obsessed with them.
27:00Little dungarees. I can't. He looks so cute in these.
27:06This one as well. Look.
27:07And look at the pocket.
27:09And when my dad has him out, he puts a little doggy biscuit in the pocket.
27:14It's very, very cute.
27:15You were spoiled for choice.
27:17Angel baby's outfits, my goodness me.
27:20There was a time when you actually couldn't walk into Nasa's closet because the amount of clothes for this animal.
27:30Wow, he's getting chunky. These are tight.
27:32Oh, goodness me.
27:34We're going to have to go shopping again.
27:36I think so.
27:45Whether she approves of dressing up dogs or not, Mum Minjo's decided to go with her daughter's Florida style.
27:51I love Miami. I love that you can do this and it's normal to just walk your dog around the
27:55block in a pram.
27:56Oh, for sure.
27:57With his little outfit on.
27:58Yeah.
27:58You don't need a jumper. It's so nice.
28:00Oh, isn't it just gorgeous.
28:04But down at Muscle Beach.
28:06Where are you?
28:07Are you keeping up with me?
28:10Dad, Billy and Sive are really getting into gear on their bike ride.
28:14It's not too muggy. It's fresh.
28:17Oh, yeah. Absolutely.
28:19Cycling has been a bit of a carrot rather than a stick. And it's been a wonderful opportunity.
28:27So I think our parents love Florida as much as we do, specifically Miami. And it is lovely to be
28:34able to share that with them.
28:36Yeah, rip it up, baby.
28:39No, you'll miss this when you're home, won't you?
28:41Well, I certainly will. I won't be walking around the village with my beautiful puppy in my pram.
28:48And when they come here, they kind of, you know, almost like they're in their mid-70s now.
28:53But, you know, what I feel like when they come here, they're so much more active and healthy.
28:57Yeah.
28:58Right. Just go down here and a loop around.
29:01Yeah.
29:03It's hard to keep up with Billy.
29:07Now, who did you have more fun with today? Me or Sive?
29:11Oh, Nadi, you're always at this.
29:15And Billy's favourite.
29:17Well...
29:18Yeah.
29:19OK, but we know it's me.
29:20Oh, do we?
29:27Back in the tourist hotspot of Siesta Quay in Sarasota.
29:36That's it. Done.
29:38Let's go get some furniture.
29:41The pressure's on Holiday Let owners David and wife Gina to finish refurbishing their ten holiday homes.
29:52Everything? Furniture. Here we come.
29:55Today, they're collecting new furniture to replace everything that was ruined by the recent hurricanes.
30:01Hey. Yes.
30:02Long time no see. How are you?
30:04Good. How's things going?
30:06Turns out, it's not just the Brits who like to talk about the weather.
30:10You know, I just got off the phone with my dad and he had told me that there's some pretty
30:13gnarly storms coming this summer.
30:19About 18 storms, about three to five are supposed to direct hit Florida. So, it's not good news.
30:27That's not good news.
30:28Damn.
30:29You know?
30:29Especially after last summer.
30:30Yeah. It sucks.
30:32We're kind of gut-wrenching to find out that we're almost there and to think so we're in almost in
30:40April and by September we could be...
30:43Back to square one?
30:44Yeah.
30:46Only one thing for us, keep calm and carry on.
30:50You doing all right with that?
30:51Yeah, it's not my first rodeo.
30:53There's nothing we can do about it.
30:56Storms or no storms, David and Gina need their holiday homes finished, furnished and ready for guests in two weeks'
31:04time.
31:04Let's figure out what mirrors you want.
31:07While Gina's sorting substitute mirrors with clay...
31:11Should have helped you push it up, really.
31:14It's down to David and Tommy to do the heavy lifting.
31:22One down.
31:27With an extra bit of muscle from the boss bringing up the rear.
31:31Come on, Gina. Give me a push.
31:33Okay.
31:34Motion in the ocean.
31:36Come on, then.
31:37The couple are pretty much starting over again with their business.
31:41Ready?
31:42Oh, like a glove.
31:47Perfect.
31:48It does seem like crazy to put yourself in this risky position, but it's such a good business.
31:56I mean, you know, like once it's up and running...
31:58You know, when it's up and running, when it's good, it's really good.
32:02Try one of them.
32:09Watch this, Dan.
32:13After dropping $8,000 on replacement furniture...
32:17That's the total.
32:18You need a pen.
32:25David and Gina just need to get it all assembled so their holiday homes are ready to rent out.
32:32Thanks, Clay.
32:32Thanks, Tommy.
32:33You did a great job.
32:36And we don't mind a challenge.
32:38Well, yeah, we're up for the challenge.
32:39All right.
32:40All right.
32:41Cheers, bud.
32:48Over in celebration, things are hotting up at Laura and Lindsay's baby shower.
32:54Oh, I mean baby sprinkle.
32:57This is turkey and cheese.
33:02This is all the lovely things, entirely unnecessary, but that our friends have brought.
33:16We'll keep them until he's here.
33:19It's just a Scottish superstition thing that we can have stuff in the house, but not set up and ready.
33:24We want to make sure he gets here healthy and Lindsay as well, so then we'll have fun unpacking all
33:29this stuff.
33:31The expecting couple met 12 years ago and their love has blossomed in the Florida sunshine.
33:37We got married in the Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando and it was just the two of us.
33:43We've managed 10 years and three kids now.
33:47The couple's daughters, Darcy and Bella, were born in Scotland and this is the first of their children who'll be
33:54born in America.
33:55But Lindsay's third pregnancy hasn't been an easy one.
33:59High risk pregnancy, we will have a scheduled C-section to get the baby out safe.
34:07We're closely monitored and checked by the best doctors basically.
34:15With over 30 guests at the party, the activities and games can really get into full swing.
34:47With Lindsay doing the tough work of carrying the baby.
34:50If we can all kind of gather round.
34:54Laura's been hard at it to make today extra special for her wife,
34:58including a surprise that's been weeks in the planning.
35:02Guys, let's shush!
35:04OK, so obviously there's all of you amazing people
35:09are here to be our village,
35:13but there's other people that aren't.
35:15So, Lindsay, I got this to play for you.
35:23Video messages from friends and family back home.
35:26And my American friends, I have got captions!
35:32Hi, Lindsay.
35:33I hope you're going to have a really good day for your baby shower.
35:37Can't wait to see you in June and meet my wee cousin for cuddles.
35:41I hope you're feeling OK and then we'll see you soon, OK?
35:44Hope you have a wonderful day.
35:45I hope that Wayne knows what he's coming into.
35:47That's one crazy household.
35:51Have a good day.
35:52Love yous.
36:00Very emotional and lovely videos.
36:04She deserves this day and I want it to be just about as much about her
36:09as it is about our baby boy as well.
36:13We're really far away from home, so, yeah, it's a lot.
36:20We haven't had a C-section before,
36:23so it's that extra worry and concern that I have
36:26and I just want to make sure both of them come home to me in a few weeks.
36:29I don't like surprises typically, no, but that was a good surprise.
36:35So far, the party has been a success.
36:41But Laura's last-minute sweet substitution
36:44could still make or break the celebrations.
36:47Time for cake!
37:01Back in Miami,
37:06sisters Sive and Nasa are rounding off their parents' Minjo and Billy's Florida visit
37:12with an all-American meal.
37:14So what did you decide to order?
37:16Burger.
37:17And burger.
37:19And Sive's boyfriend,
37:20Yuset, has come along too
37:22to help the sisters with their Miami charm offensive.
37:25You guys, you got the weather like this all year round.
37:28It can get better than this.
37:30Ride bikes,
37:31you go for your walks all year round.
37:33It's one last chance to make the case
37:36for their parents to move here full-time.
37:38Well, you're going to be headed back before you know it.
37:41I got on a bike for the first time in 10 years
37:44and just to go cycling with you.
37:48Absolutely.
37:49But that still wasn't the favourite.
37:50I was so touched.
37:55Favourite part of this weekend?
37:57Oh, having my face done.
37:58Obviously.
37:59Just go.
38:00Yeah.
38:01Just so relaxing.
38:03Yeah.
38:03And you're not bruised or anything, are you?
38:05Yeah, it looks pretty good.
38:09But have they persuaded their mum and dad
38:12to think about moving?
38:13So, given that you had such a lovely time,
38:16do you think that we have convinced you
38:17to spend a little bit more time in Miami?
38:20We're selling out this.
38:21Very definitely.
38:23I'm very, very tempted.
38:25Sunny days ahead.
38:29The truth is that in Miami,
38:31you can live like a king or a queen.
38:35You can just literally be whatever you want.
38:40And perhaps be a bit closer to their daughters
38:42in their golden years.
38:44Yes, that is a very, very tempting prospect
38:49to be here all year round
38:52because to have my two lovely girls here all the time
38:56and my own personal doctor, how wonderful.
39:01Well, it certainly would be a chance
39:03to stop off the Fountain of Mute
39:04because I'd say if I got out here,
39:07my ageing process would be quite slowed.
39:13Mum and dad might not be completely sold
39:16on making the move to Miami just yet,
39:18but they've already got their next visit booked.
39:20Cheers, cheers, cheers, cheers, cheers.
39:24Sláinte, cheers.
39:25Viva Miami.
39:27To the next time.
39:28To the next time.
39:42Back in celebration...
39:43It's not the easiest thing to cut.
39:45It's time for cake at Laura and Lindsay's Baby Shower.
39:53The ice cream cake is now demolished.
39:56Seemed to go well.
39:58They seem to enjoy it.
39:59So, all that panic for nothing.
40:02OK, this is awesome.
40:08After five hours of partying,
40:11it's time to wrap up this Florida fun day.
40:16Oh, wow.
40:17He's a poosie.
40:20But it looks like some people haven't got the message.
40:28As well as celebrating the upcoming birth,
40:30today's been a chance to connect with their new community.
40:33It's been lovely to see our little village,
40:36and everyone there is, like, helpers when baby comes,
40:41and they've offered overnight to help,
40:44and during the day,
40:45and just to take the girls out for us.
40:50Finally, with everyone gone and things packed up,
40:53they can have some family time.
40:55You know, that was really nice.
40:56Our first proper, like, American-style baby shower.
41:00You know, it was amazing today,
41:01the number of people that came up to me
41:04and just reiterated that they were there
41:05to, you know, support me and the girls
41:07if Lindsay does end up going into hospital for a little while.
41:10Previous pregnancies, very easy.
41:14Had fairly normal, natural deliveries,
41:18didn't need any, like, doctor intervention.
41:21This pregnancy,
41:24I've been told I cannot go into natural labour.
41:27That's, like,
41:28one extreme to another, isn't it?
41:30And with the support of their new friends,
41:33this may not be their last party.
41:35I don't know if I would have another baby shower.
41:37That was a lot.
41:39I think I would maybe just do grown-ups next time.
41:42But it was...
41:45I think our hopes for the next few months
41:47is just to settle in to be in a family of five
41:51and having some really good quality time over the summer.
41:56OK, no more cake.
41:58No more cake.
41:59Sleep time, because we are done.
42:00Hey, movies.
42:02We are shattered.
42:07In Sarasota...
42:11..David and wife Gina are flat out
42:14getting their holiday rentals back up and running.
42:16Gone to the beach.
42:17There you go.
42:21Over two million tourists visit here every year,
42:24and they're hoping some of them
42:25will be filling up their restored holiday homes very soon.
42:29We're going to move it down there, just see...
42:31Yeah.
42:31..see how it looks.
42:37That's it.
42:38The race is on for David, wife Gina, and daughter Lisa
42:42to get their holiday lets ready for rental.
42:46Are we recycling, Gina?
42:48Of course, you've got to do.
42:50Save the planet.
42:55Their rentals have been closed for months of renovation,
42:58and every day they're empty
43:00costs David and Gina vital money.
43:03We're very domesticated, aren't we?
43:05Yes.
43:07And you last do one of them.
43:09We need to get, like, the sheets, the beds, the pillows,
43:13just, like, the final things, the icing on the cake,
43:15just to make it perfect.
43:19The finishing line is finally in sight.
43:23It's looking like a rental unit all of a sudden.
43:27Turtles match the turtles.
43:29It's a time crunch.
43:30Every day we're not open, we are losing money.
43:36OK, well done.
43:37Do you like it?
43:38Job done.
43:39Yeah, it looks nice.
43:40I prefer that.
43:41Something else off the list.
43:43We've actually taken a couple of deposits,
43:45we've opened our calendar up in the summertime,
43:49and people are already making bookings,
43:51so we couldn't be any happier than what we are today.
43:54Is that lamp?
44:02I think we are almost done.
44:07We've worked really hard to get these units ready.
44:10It's been a big process.
44:12It's been a lot of pressure.
44:13It's been a big financial strain.
44:16You know, we've spent way over what the original budget was going to be.
44:26All right, that is the last thing in the cupboards.
44:31We're done.
44:32Really?
44:33Yay!
44:34Great stuff.
44:35Awesome.
44:36Well done, dear.
44:38Aw, thanks for your help, Lisa, as always.
44:41I think it's been worth it to, you know,
44:43make the decision to remodel everything
44:45and do it just one more time, hopefully.
44:49We get good weather, and it doesn't happen again.
44:55It's been a long road rebuilding the business since the hurricane.
45:01But come rain or shine in Florida,
45:04David, Gina and daughter Lisa have each other.
45:08Good job, honey.
45:10We made the right choice of going for the remodel.
45:13It looks great.
45:15I'm pleased.
45:16We can't wait.
45:17We just can't wait for that.
45:18The checks to come in.
45:20We're excited.
45:21Help me!
45:23No sweaty instincts.
45:25Oh, my goodness.
45:26What was she like?
45:26We're going for the remodel.
45:27We're going for the remodel.
45:28We're going for the remodel.
45:28We're going for the remodel.
45:29We're going for the remodel.
