00:18Anyone else nervous?
00:19Yeah
00:19Legends of Kori, I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here
00:23Loose Women and The Chase are competing against their fellow castmates
00:27Hey, no road rage, please.
00:31...to prove they can deliver the best holiday adventure.
00:34You like that break a bit too much.
00:36I'm not even pressing the break.
00:37Each famous face...
00:39Can we get back to coronation, please?
00:41O-M-G.
00:42DJ Destroyer!
00:43...will plan their dream day in the sun.
00:45We are loose women. Together we can do anything.
00:48And at the end of the week...
00:50They'll vote to decide who will be crowned the greatest escaper.
00:54Are we all thinking, I want to win?
00:57Yeah.
00:58Only one of us can be the greatest escaper.
01:01Who is it gonna be?
01:10Along the southern coast of Portugal lies the Algarve.
01:13Famous for its golden beaches, picturesque villages and endless sunshine.
01:18The perfect battleground for this week's celebrities.
01:21Three ex-campmates from I'm a Celebrity get me out of here.
01:26They survive the jungle together.
01:28But can they survive an actual holiday?
01:30The first of those three celebs is queen of the ballroom, Oti Mabusi.
01:34I love travelling.
01:36The freedom, the drinks, the naps.
01:40I need a cocktail and the sun.
01:43I think my day will win.
01:44I just want to always be the best and do my best every single time.
01:51Hot on her heels is ex-campmate number two.
01:54Radio One breakfast DJ, Dean McCulloch.
01:58I take my holidays very seriously.
02:00I'm definitely the one to plan everything because I love it.
02:03I even love getting up really early in the morning and going to the airport.
02:07Everyone rolls their eyes, but I like it.
02:09Where's your favourite piece you've been on holiday?
02:11Turkey.
02:11Oh my God, I love Turkey.
02:13I'm from Antalya.
02:14Oh, I went to Antalya to get my teeth done.
02:16No.
02:16These are Antalya's finest.
02:17I may not be good at a bush-tooker trial,
02:19but what I'm really good at is putting together an award-winning five-star holiday.
02:27Just don't stress, everyone.
02:30I've got this.
02:31And last to arrive is the legend of the boxing ring,
02:34the one and only Barry McGuigan.
02:37I'm hoping to win.
02:39I want to put on a really fabulous day that they really enjoy.
02:43And I'm also looking forward to revealing my competitive edge as well.
02:4813.9 kilos.
02:50Yes.
02:50So that's, is that good?
02:51Very on the way.
02:52Great.
02:54Bye, man.
02:56Hello.
02:56Hi.
02:57Good morning.
02:58A three-hour flight from the UK,
03:05the Algarve stretches across Portugal's southern Atlantic coastline.
03:09Look at this.
03:10Bahre.
03:11Bahre.
03:13Oh.
03:14Who's got the biggest room?
03:16I bet you it's Bahre.
03:17Not me.
03:17With your size, everything is bigger.
03:21I have absolutely no idea what OT and Dana planning.
03:24None whatsoever.
03:26To be honest, I'm ready for anything.
03:28I love to throw myself in all the most weirdest situations ever.
03:35So whatever you want to throw my way, I'm totally up for it.
03:39I have a funny feeling that we're going to wake up in the morning
03:41and Bahre's going to be stood at the end of my bed with some boxing gloves.
03:44Right, you.
03:44Up.
03:45And the fact that he has control of a whole day of this trip,
03:48I do worry that it will involve endurance.
03:52Three stars, three dream days, but only one winner.
03:56Cheers.
03:57To get in here in one piece.
03:59Yes.
04:00In one piece, is right.
04:01Yeah.
04:01And now the crack begins.
04:03I'm really looking forward to this whole experience with you guys.
04:07I hope so.
04:08It's going to be better.
04:08Because I'm with you two, I kind of think at any moment
04:10that like either Ant and Dec are going to walk in and be like,
04:13Dean, it might be.
04:15Yeah.
04:16Yeah.
04:16We're going to have a good time.
04:18Well, no, we are.
04:18I know all this seems quite nice and lovely, but this is a competition.
04:21Yes, we're only in business.
04:23And there can only be one winner.
04:24I'm looking at a world champion boxer here and a two-time Strictly champion.
04:27I'm just going to hold my hands up and say I would love to win.
04:31And you two, you two could go home.
04:33Losers.
04:34That's a genuine possibility.
04:36I am prepared to accept that.
04:38No, you're not.
04:39Are you?
04:40Well, not really.
04:41That was a lie.
04:42Yeah.
04:43No.
04:48Oti's the first to show off her perfect day out.
04:51And she's getting help from customer helper Gio
04:53to turn her ambitious wish list into a reality.
04:57Everything has been planned.
04:59Adventure, fun, laughter and a good time.
05:03I think my day will win because I'm giving them variety.
05:07Good morning.
05:08Good morning.
05:09How are you this morning?
05:10I'm feeling amazing.
05:11Look at the sun, blue sky.
05:13Doesn't it look beautiful?
05:13I'm so excited about today.
05:15So my first idea is off-road baggies.
05:18Oh, OK.
05:19That's wild, unexpected.
05:20It's just that element of just pushing yourself.
05:23Yeah.
05:23And getting on something that you've never got on before.
05:26Yeah, yeah.
05:26And then just going as fast as possible.
05:28Yeah.
05:29Do you have an idea where we can get?
05:30Can you sort them out for me?
05:32Absolutely.
05:33100%.
05:33Do they go fast?
05:34That's what I need to know.
05:35Well, that depends on the driver.
05:38She's told us to bring a change of clothes.
05:41Yes.
05:41That worries me, Barry.
05:42That means we're either getting sweaty or dirty.
05:45And I don't want to do any of that.
05:46Or both.
05:47It would be really lovely for us to have lunch somewhere, which is really nice and authentic.
05:53So there's this beautiful little hidden gem where the locals would kind of go, that sort
05:57of thing.
05:57Off the beaten track, if you will.
05:58Yeah.
05:58And I think you're going to really enjoy it.
06:00Do you think she's going to get us done soon?
06:02Of course she is, yeah.
06:03She's got to be.
06:04The boys know that I love to dance.
06:06So I would love to get the boys moving.
06:09So we have this lovely little traditional folk group to kind of give you guys that little
06:14taster.
06:15You'll have a great time.
06:16You grew up in some musical theatre, so that's your thing.
06:19Yeah, listen, this is very much in my wheelhouse.
06:22Yes.
06:23I love busting a move.
06:23Yeah, yeah.
06:24I'm not sure if I want to do it on holiday.
06:28Do you know what I mean?
06:29I'm being very competitive, but also good about today.
06:32I don't think they'll expect the first activity.
06:35I think those things that we're doing with the adventure, that will cater very much to
06:40Barry, but the dancing, that also cater very much to Dean.
06:43So I'm feeling like if I can get just two tics from the boys, I have to have this in the
06:49bag, right?
06:51Hello.
06:52Hey, hey, hey.
06:52Morning.
06:55Whilst Gio puts the finishing touches to Oti's day, the escapers are heading
06:5912 miles north to the Moorish 12th century castle at Padern, the perfect place for her
07:05first surprise, a bit of sightseeing.
07:08This is one of the castles that is actually on the flag of Portugal, so I thought that
07:14we just come here and we just admire some of the history and the culture that comes
07:18with being in Portugal.
07:20Are you being serious?
07:22No, no, she is, she is.
07:23I think it was great.
07:23So we're going to stand here and look at this castle all day?
07:25Sure.
07:26Brilliant.
07:26I love adventure and I love adrenaline.
07:51I love getting myself to a place where I'm like, this scares the life out of me, but
07:56I'm going to do it because it does.
07:58Come on.
07:59Barry, how's your driving?
08:01Get ready to eat dust, guys.
08:03Maybe I should have told you before now I've been disqualified seven times for speeding.
08:07Wow.
08:08No, you haven't.
08:09Yeah.
08:10Oi!
08:12Woo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!
08:13Loser.
08:16Oh, speed ahead!
08:17Come on, Barry.
08:19Ah!
08:20Ah!
08:21Ah!
08:21Ah!
08:22Ah!
08:22Ah!
08:23This is one.
08:25Tee-hee!
08:28Stop!
08:29Huh?
08:29Hey, baby!
08:30Ha!
08:31Ha!
08:31Ha!
08:32Ha!
08:32Ha!
08:33Ha!
08:33Ha!
08:34Ha!
08:34Ha!
08:35Ha!
08:35Ha!
08:36Ha!
08:36Ha!
08:37Ha!
08:37Ha!
08:38Ha!
08:39Ha!
08:40Ha!
08:41We're coming for you, Otis!
08:43Ha!
08:43Ha!
08:44Ha!
08:45Ha!
08:45Ha!
08:46Ha!
08:46Ha!
08:47Ha!
08:47Ha!
08:48Ha!
08:48Ha!
08:49Ha!
08:49Ha!
08:50Ha!
08:51Ha!
08:51Ha!
08:52Ha!
08:52Ha!
08:53I love speed.
08:54I just love excitement.
08:55Love the risk and the danger, yes.
08:57There was one point where I did fear for my life and thought to myself, has Barry McGrigan
09:01ever passed his driving test because we were going on a single lane and Barry tried
09:05to overtake Voday.
09:06Ha!
09:07Ha!
09:08Ha!
09:09I got a boat now.
09:10Ha!
09:11Ha!
09:12Ha!
09:13Ha!
09:14Ha!
09:15Ha!
09:16Ha!
09:17Do you ask him?
09:18Can't help us, Barry.
09:19Come on all right!
09:20Don't worry!
09:21Ha!
09:22Ha!
09:22Ha!
09:23Ha!
09:24Hi!
09:25Ha!
09:26He's leaving us for a bus, Barry!
09:27Yesss!
09:28Oh no!
09:29Stop the bus!
09:30Woohoo!
09:31Heee!
09:33Ha!
09:34Ha!
09:35Ha ha!
09:36Oh my god, you played so many!
09:40This morning was so much fun.
09:42I mean, look at me.
09:43I'm grey and brown and dirty
09:46but you've got the biggest smile on my face.
09:49Woohoo!
09:50I really think that this morning
09:52I gave them a little bit of a taste of me.
09:54I loved it.
09:55I thought you were going to let me pass.
09:57Barry, this is not the Formula 1.
10:00That was 10 out of 10.
10:02I would give that a solid 10 out of 10.
10:04I'd give it 12 out of 10.
10:06Yeah.
10:07Fantastic.
10:08And I think that the fact that this is only her first activity out of 3,
10:11God knows what the rest of the day has.
10:13I mean, we were exhausted.
10:14We're ready for an afternoon nap.
10:18Fresh from her victory, Oti's taking the boys for lunch
10:21in the sleepy village of Alta,
10:23famous for its natural springs.
10:25I tell you what, we will not be able to beat that.
10:28Excitement and enthusiasm and fun.
10:31It was fun.
10:32It was great.
10:33You get very competitive as well.
10:35Where do you think you get it from?
10:36When I was a kid, I was always into sport.
10:38Mm.
10:39Then I got into boxing.
10:40Bingo.
10:41I knew right away this was going to be something I could be really good at.
10:46You know, wanting to be successful, wanting to be the best at something,
10:50like I suppose you did in your dancing.
10:52Yeah, dancing.
10:53You have the sort of drive that would have made you the very best.
10:56Yeah, yeah, yeah.
10:57It feels good when you work hard and you achieve something.
11:00I believe that part of me comes from my parents really, because my dad, of course we grew up in South Africa and it was really tough.
11:07And being a lawyer, seeing him wake up every morning, really work hard and also defend people.
11:13Yeah.
11:14But then come back home and then continue working.
11:16And that became the culture of the family.
11:18My dad is like, if I'm working hard, you guys have to work hard as well because I'm not always going to be around.
11:23Yeah.
11:24And my mom was always about the sports.
11:26I started doing national competitions when I was seven, eight years old.
11:31So I was really young.
11:33And every single sport that we did, my mom was like, if you're going to use your time, you've got to be the best.
11:39And you've got to work.
11:40Isn't that interesting?
11:41And you really have to push.
11:42When you're a dancer, like your body is your job.
11:47And it's really difficult because we have to retire so young.
11:52Yeah.
11:53How are you doing?
11:54Yeah.
11:55For you.
11:56This one is salad of octopus.
11:57Great.
11:58And this one is fresh cold salad.
11:59This one is from Algarve.
12:01Oljam.
12:02Enjoy your meal.
12:03Thank you very much.
12:04Thank you.
12:05I'm going to dig in.
12:06I've never had an octopus salad.
12:07This looks good.
12:08Barry, do you remember how we were in the jungle?
12:09You would finish all my meals.
12:21Unpack then swim or jump right in.
12:24The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet 2 Holidays.
12:29Sunbed snoozing or speedboat cruising?
12:33The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet 2 Holidays.
12:39Three stars from I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here are in the Algarve competing to deliver the best holiday adventure and be crowned the champion Great Escaper.
12:54Today, Oti Mabusi is in charge and she's planned an activity for Dean McCulloch and Barry McGuigan.
13:01She hopes will give her the edge in the competition.
13:03My activities describe exactly who I am. Very adventurous. But then the dance. The dance is quite important. I think they'll ease it to it and they'll definitely enjoy it. And they'll be like, yeah, this is more of what we thought you'd do on holiday.
13:18Oh, here we go.
13:20Oh, here we go.
13:21Oh, here we go.
13:25Okay.
13:26Oh, my God.
13:27Oh, my God.
13:28Oh, my God.
13:29Oh, my God.
13:31This is a folk group who actually do traditional dancing that is, like, known from the area.
13:39Okay.
13:40And we are going to get involved.
13:42Yes, Barry.
13:43Yes, we're going to do some dancing. Come on, come on.
13:48I really and truly believe that when you go out and see other people's styles of dance, that's them sharing their history with you.
13:58Dating back to the 19th century, Corradino is a lively couples dance. Born, legend has it, when a Spanish man tried to win the heart of a local woman with his nifty footwork.
14:10I've never, ever in my life done this style of dancing.
14:12Okay.
14:13I don't care. You can pick it up like that.
14:15Yes, I've already picked it up.
14:16And he's just a dancer.
14:18It's just this idiot that's going to look like a clown.
14:21Yay!
14:22Well done. Congratulations.
14:23Are you ready to learn?
14:24Oh, yes!
14:25I'm completely out of my comfort zone, and you know that. It is not me. I think he thought we were just coming to observe the dance.
14:40But when the dance teacher turned around and said, no, it's your turn, I could feel Barry quivering.
14:45You're going to put this arm, like this. Here. Now we're going to go middle steps, like this. Now we're going to run. Faster?
14:58Yeah.
14:59Let's go faster?
15:00Faster. Faster. Faster.
15:01Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god!
15:04That's good.
15:05We went so fast!
15:07That's it! That's it!
15:09Okay, let's do it again.
15:10You are exactly my demographic to teach.
15:13Well, we could win Strictly Berry.
15:16I'm feeling very excited. I love trying something new when I come on holiday, and I would never get the chance to do this otherwise.
15:22But it is very, very fast, and the kids are like five, and they're doing it really well.
15:26Is anyone else nervous?
15:27Yeah, yes.
15:28Can we start?
15:29Yes, let's go!
15:31One, two, three. One, two, three. One, two, three.
15:36Anna.
15:38Pitch.
15:39Up.
15:40One, two, three. One, two, three.
15:42One, two, three.
15:43Up the knee.
15:44No, it's just a bit of a bit.
15:45One.
15:46Army there.
15:47Yes.
15:48Can you hear it?
15:49Yes.
15:50Fast.
15:51Fast and fast.
15:52Oh my god.
15:53Change.
15:54One, two, three, four, four, seven.
15:56One, two, three.
15:57One, two, three.
15:58One, two, three.
15:59Go!
16:00One, two, three.
16:01Woo!
16:02Oh!
16:03What a way to end the day.
16:07I don't know how she's managed this.
16:09Barry and I don't stand a chance for the rest of the week.
16:13Yay!
16:14Good!
16:15Yay!
16:16Thank you very much.
16:17Thank you so much.
16:18What would you give us out of ten?
16:19Eight.
16:20Oh!
16:22I can't handle an eight!
16:24Even for me?
16:25No, you're a ten.
16:26Thank you, darling.
16:27That's my girl.
16:29I loved the dancing and they were all just beautiful people,
16:34the whole lot of them.
16:35It was great fun and they were very patient teachers.
16:39So yeah, an eventful day and I genuinely really enjoyed it.
16:42The dancing was amazing.
16:44When you see the little kids and they love it so much
16:46and then you see how they're guided by the older generation
16:49and you can see how community is supposed to work.
16:52It took me back home to South Africa.
16:55I love the fact that they still do this
16:57and it feels really like a community
16:59and the reason why I started dancing in South Africa
17:03we had that apartheid era.
17:05There were no places where little black kids could dance.
17:08And so my mum formed her own dance school.
17:11We were safe.
17:12We had ambition in that room.
17:15We were focused and we were doing something useful for our future.
17:19And that tonight reminded me of why, you know,
17:23I love dance and I stayed in it.
17:25It's just that community.
17:26Yeah.
17:27Well, I found out more about Oti today,
17:29stuff we didn't find out in the jungle.
17:31So she grew up in a very difficult time.
17:33Great mum, very competitive, great teacher, patient.
17:38Getting to hear her talk about her family
17:40and what led her to where she is today
17:44was really, really special.
17:46She has determination and ambition,
17:49but she has such a big heart.
17:51I really hope my day was successful.
17:53I definitely think Barry and Dean enjoyed it.
17:55And then at the end, big smiles all around.
17:58Barry.
17:59Yeah.
18:00Good luck tomorrow.
18:01Thank you.
18:02You've got a tough act to follow.
18:03Okay.
18:04To bed we go.
18:05Let's rock and roll.
18:06Today, it's Barry's chance to shine.
18:17And he's confident that his day has all the winning ingredients.
18:21I think I've got a wonderful day planned.
18:24I don't think it.
18:25I know it.
18:26For me, I want to give Oti and Dean some escapism.
18:30The thing I like doing most of all is relaxing
18:32and enjoying just quiet time.
18:34And it'll be interesting to see
18:36what they're like when they chill out.
18:39There's a slight air of trepidation
18:41because I don't know what's happening.
18:43And there's something telling me
18:45that Barry doesn't know what's happening either.
18:47He's a bit unorganized, I would say, but...
18:51All day yesterday, he thought we were in Spain.
18:56We had to remind Barry last night
18:58at the Portuguese folk dance
18:59that we were in Portugal.
19:01It's not looking good.
19:03I got a bit of sick from Oti
19:08about burning the rice and beans
19:10when I was in the jungle.
19:12OK.
19:13So I would love to cook them something nice,
19:17somewhere beautiful.
19:18I'd like to be out on the sea.
19:20We can work a lot with that.
19:21OK.
19:22So what about a luxury boat?
19:23You can go on, you can cook them a meal.
19:25There's a little market near where the boat's going to be.
19:27You can shop around.
19:28Barry, each morning, tries to coax me to go to the gym with him.
19:32He does.
19:34He thinks it's a lovely time,
19:35but it's just not my idea of a very nice day out.
19:37I'd love to do something physically demanding.
19:41Yeah, OK.
19:42I like all that sort of stuff.
19:44So what do you recommend?
19:46Cool.
19:47I think kayaking would tick the box.
19:49What do you think?
19:50Perfect.
19:51And if you're having fun, you don't feel like you're working out.
19:52Exactly.
19:53Yeah.
19:54I think we've got something very special planned.
19:55It's both exciting and beautiful.
19:57I'm very much looking forward to seeing what Oti and Dean think about it.
20:02Barry's first activity is just east of the popular resort town of Albafera.
20:08It's meant to be a chilled-out treat, but like everything Barry does,
20:11it involves a bit of a workout.
20:14Look at this.
20:16We're here at this spectacular-looking beach
20:19and I'm going to bring them kayaking
20:21and we're going to go round the cove
20:23and it's going to be tough, but it's going to be beautiful.
20:26Where are we going?
20:27We are going to poodle along the coast
20:29and look at the spectacular views.
20:31The thing about professional boxing is
20:33it's a game of dropping weight and watching what you have to eat
20:36and after years and years of that,
20:38I've always kept myself in shape and I love kayaking.
20:42It's a really good workout.
20:43So I hope they enjoy it.
20:44I know I will.
20:45I hope they will too.
20:47We don't try and race or anything.
20:48It's just a bit of fun.
20:50Why don't I believe that?
20:51He didn't get to overtake you yesterday,
20:53so this might be ding-ding round two.
20:54No, no, it's not ding-ding round two.
20:56We just want you to be safe and enjoy it.
20:58That'll be fine.
20:59As long as we overtake you, that'll be absolutely fine.
21:02If you overtake me, you've had it.
21:04This too, the orange one and the yellow one are your kayaks.
21:07Wait, like the Portugal flag?
21:09It needs the green.
21:12Oh, is the green on the flag?
21:13It's green, yellow, red.
21:14I think this is Romania.
21:15Oh, is that not the Portugal flag?
21:16No.
21:17No, that's just safety.
21:18It's safety, yeah.
21:20Oh, that's...
21:21Flags are not my strong point.
21:23This is Romania.
21:24This activity is 100% Barry's type on paper.
21:29It's active.
21:31You're breaking a sweat.
21:32You're working your upper body.
21:33All of the things that we don't want to do on a holiday.
21:39Right, guys.
21:40Okay, bye.
21:41Oh, look at that, Oti, look.
21:44Oh, stunning.
21:49Oh, I love this.
21:52Follow you.
21:53Okay, left, right, cha-cha-cha.
21:56Right, left, cha-cha-cha.
22:00Wait, I feel like we're going in the wrong direction.
22:02Oh, no.
22:03Oh, no.
22:04I feel like every time you go opposite to me...
22:06Yeah, we go the wrong way, yeah.
22:07Oh, no.
22:08We've been blown off course.
22:09Yeah.

22:59Darling, hold my hand!
23:02The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet 2 Holidays.
23:06Market stalls are cannonballs.
23:08Darling, hold my hand!
23:12The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet 2 Holidays.
23:15In the deep blue Atlantic waters of the Algarve, former boxer Barry McGuigan is taking ex-jungle mates Oti Mabusi and Dean McCulloch kayaking in an attempt to win the title of Greatest Escaper.
23:32It's Barry's idea of the perfect day out. His friends? Hmm, not so much.
23:37How do you go in a straight line, Barry?
23:40I just do this.
23:41Oti, can you do what I do?
23:43Yeah.
23:44So we can get a wee bit of movement?
23:45I'm doing it.
23:47Hey, why are you not rowing?
23:48No.
23:49I mean, I've done my years on straightway. I just need this hard work.
23:52My arms are burning. I was hot in the sand. And then I thought, you've got this.
23:56I just hate it so much.
23:59Barry, what's the plan here? Because I fear I've lost my co-pilot. She's half asleep.
24:04I mean, I know by the looks of things, you want to make your way round to Alicante.
24:07I want to go out to the Atlantic Ocean and back.
24:10I know I can tell.
24:11You're not ready for that.
24:12Yeah.
24:13Let's get back to the base then.
24:14I'll get back, thank you guys.
24:15Okie do.
24:16Are we going to race?
24:17Yeah.
24:18You ready?
24:19Yeah, let's do it.
24:203, 2, 1, go!
24:21Remember, left, right, left.
24:22Go!
24:24Let's go!
24:25Come on!
24:26Come on!
24:27Come on!
24:28Come on!
24:29We're actually beating him!
24:32Oh my God, we're beating Larry!
24:34I know you're beating us.
24:35You're beating me!
24:36Come on!
24:37We're beating him!
24:38Go!
24:39Go!
24:40We're beating him!
24:41Come on!
24:42No, you're not beating me yet!
24:43Come on!
24:44We're beating him!
24:45We're beating him!
24:46It's a big collision!
24:47No!
24:48Oh!
24:49Oh!
24:50We beat you there!
24:51Yes, you did.
24:52Have to say it.
24:53I had a lovely day.
24:54I had a lovely time.
24:55And what I loved even more was beating Barry.
24:58Oh, yes!
24:59Woo!
25:00Woo-hoo!
25:01Ah!
25:02Ah!
25:03Ah!
25:04Ah!
25:05I hope they enjoyed it because, after all, this is a competition.
25:08And whoever puts on the best say, I want to win!
25:11Thank you very much, Barry.
25:12I appreciate it.
25:13You're welcome.
25:14Yeah, it was great.
25:15Thank you, Barry.
25:16It was good fun.
25:17Thanks.
25:18It was really inspiring to see you literally still going, giving it.
25:20Yeah, thank you.
25:21All the guests you had.
25:22And I can't believe you still have it.
25:23That's amazing.
25:24When you're a fighter, it's with you to the day you die.
25:25The day when I stopped boxing, it was a hard thing to come to terms with.
25:26Was it like a loss?
25:27Yeah, fierce loss.
25:28The effort that I put in and the pain that I suffered to get into shape was, like, incredible.
25:31For you, when you had those no moments, those tough moments, what were they and how did you get over them?
25:33Losing my title in Vegas just over a year after I'd won the title and I fought 15 rounds.
25:38What?
25:39What?
25:40Yeah, I fought 15 rounds.
25:41And I was knocked down in the 15th round from sheer exhaustion.
25:44It wasn't a hard time.
25:45It wasn't a hard time.
25:46It was a hard time to come to terms with.
25:47It was a hard time to come to terms with.
25:48Was it like a loss?
25:49Yeah, fierce loss.
25:50The effort that I put in and the pain that I suffered to get into shape was, like, incredible.
25:53For you, when you had those no moments, those tough moments, what were they and how did you get over them?
25:59Losing my title in Vegas, just over a year after I'd won the title.
26:01From sheer exhaustion, I wasn't hurt.
26:03I was simply unable to hold my hands up and get out of the way.
26:07So I said, right, that part of my life is finished now.
26:11I was only champion for a year and I never regained the title, which was disappointing.
26:16But you have to change and refocus.
26:19That's the way I've lived my life.
26:20I've always been competitive.
26:22I've always wanted to do well at whatever I've done.
26:26Barry really opened up about how hard he pushed himself physically and mentally throughout his career to get to the success that he has.
26:35It was also really nice to hear Barry talking about grieving the loss of his career and something I hadn't really thought of before.
26:42So the fact that he shared that with us and was honest and said that it was really difficult was brave of him.
26:47Yeah, and let him go.
26:54The kayaks were challenging, whereas now we have a very relaxed evening.
26:59We're going to be taking them out on a lovely boat.
27:01They're going to have delicious food with a spectacular panoramic view of the coastline.
27:07I'm here today to buy some fish and I'm going to do the cooking this evening.
27:11Didn't you make us eat burnt rice and burnt beans?
27:14I did that many times.
27:16Oh, boy.
27:19At home, I'm lazy, so my wife cooks for me, so it's the first time.
27:23I've got a question for you.
27:24Yeah?
27:25Have you ever cooked fish before?
27:26Yes, I have.
27:27It's going to be fabulous.
27:28Yeah, it's some good fish.
27:29Red fish here.
27:30Oh.
27:31Vermeil.
27:32Can I hold it?
27:33Yeah.
27:34But those are some eyes.
27:35Oh, wow.
27:40It slipped out of my hand.
27:41I'm sorry.
27:42Oh, give him a clean.
27:43Yeah, okay.
27:44Give him a wash.
27:45I'm so sorry.
27:47What is this?
27:49Gallo.
27:50Gallo Negro.
27:51It's like a chicken.
27:52Gallo is like a rooster.
27:53Gallo Negro would be the one, yeah.
27:54Okay.
27:55Absolutely.
27:56Can you fill it this for us?
27:57Yeah.
27:58That would be great.
27:59I think they'll be apprehensive about my cooking, no doubt about it.
28:02And I'd be a bit nervous about it because I know that they were given out about the burnt beans and rice,
28:07so I want to do a better job today.
28:09I'm scared because he said, Sandra does everything for me.
28:13His wife.
28:14So now I'm like, oh, she's not here.
28:17Maybe in the jungle he just thought, I'm not going to tell everyone that I'm a really good cook,
28:21otherwise they're going to make me the camp chef.
28:23Yeah.
28:24It's all going to come out today.
28:25Wow.
28:26We don't want to eat the fish eye because that's quite triggering for us.
28:29Yeah, you want me to take them out?
28:30No, no, no, no.
28:31Leave them.
28:32You want to eat them?
28:33Leave them in.
28:34I had to eat them.
28:35I had like 14 of them.
28:36Yes.
28:37I remember now.
28:39Oh, the penny's dropped, has it?
28:41Barry's hoping his last surprise will distract Oti and Dean from his terrible cooking skills
28:49by serving them dinner on a luxury catamaran.
28:53Oh, Barry.
28:54Look at this.
28:55No way.
28:56You cannot say I haven't treated you.
28:58Are we going on this boat?
28:59Yes, sir.
29:00No.
29:01We are going out to sea.
29:03Now, let's get out of here.
29:05Yeah.
29:06Let's go.
29:07It's good.
29:09All I imagine myself is just being like...
29:14Oti, you're like a Bond girl.
29:19I love it.
29:20This is so beautiful.
29:22I didn't expect this from Barry.
29:24No.
29:25Go on.
29:28Oh, that was so underwhelming.
29:30I mean, he's slaving away in the kitchen right now.
29:32Yes, he is.
29:33So we are hopeful that this isn't going to turn out like a bush trigger tile.
29:37Oh, yeah.
29:38So when was the last time you cooked a meal?
29:42Oh, not long back.
29:44A couple of weeks.
29:45And what was it?
29:46Baked potatoes.
29:51And beans and grated cheese.
29:53Oh, for the love of God.
29:54That's it.
29:55And did you put it in the microwave?
29:56Of course I did.
29:57Oh, she did.
29:58Oh.
29:59Oh.
30:02Barry's meal of boiled potatoes and fried fish is finally ready to be served.
30:08A big step up from burnt rice and beans.
30:11Right, guys.
30:12Here we are.
30:13This is giving me flashbacks.
30:14I mean...
30:15Do you know?
30:16Do you know what I mean?
30:17Yes, yes.
30:19Sandra, your wife would be very proud of this dish.
30:22Well, thank you, Dean.
30:23And in fact, I think when she watches this, she's going to make you do more cooking.
30:26Exactly.
30:27That's the problem.
30:28So how did you and Sandra meet?
30:30Well, we couldn't not meet because we lived across the road from one another.
30:33So we grew up with each other, basically.
30:35And how long have you been married?
30:36This is our 44th year.
30:39Wow.
30:40Long time.
30:41I gave Sandy a ring when I was five years old.
30:44When you were five?
30:45Five years old.
30:46I gave her a wedding ring.
30:47She kept it.
30:48Oh, my word.
30:49So there you are.
30:50I'm still madly in love with her and I hope she's still madly in love with me.
30:53It's amazing.
30:55Barry has done well.
30:56The beginning of the day was hell.
30:58I hated it.
31:00But this, the food, everything else, I absolutely loved.
31:04Barry, this has been such a great meal, such a great day, actually.
31:08Thank you.
31:09I didn't expect Barry to want to do stuff like this on holiday and to share a sunset with us.
31:15And it seems almost sentimental.
31:18What a perfect way to end an amazing day from Barry.
31:21The food was great.
31:22The crack was great.
31:23The chats were great.
31:24It was brilliant.
31:25This has been one hell of a day.
31:27To finish off out on our catamaran, I think it's going to be a tough task to measure up to.
31:40Dean is the last to plan his day.
31:42And if he wants to win, he's got a hard act to follow after all the quad bikes and kayaks.
31:47My dream holiday soaks up culture, fun, and I love going out and having a good time.
31:53But I think this morning it might be quite nice to kick back and relax a wee bit.
31:57What is the spa culture like in the Algarve?
32:01So I've got the perfect spa in mind for you.
32:03Very natural.
32:04Keep you in touch with your jungle side as well as a trio.
32:07I don't think Barry's ever been to a spa.
32:09In the jungle he was constantly brushing his hair and then his mum gifted him skin care for his skin.
32:15So he's quite a luxurious person.
32:18That might have something to do with it.
32:20Maybe we'll go shopping.
32:22Maybe we'll go shopping.
32:23No, my worst nightmare.
32:24So I love when I go away to be in amongst the trees or on the beach.
32:30So have you heard of razor clam fishing?
32:32No, tell me about it.
32:33Okay.
32:34I used to do this actually back when I was a little boy.
32:36It's actually really therapeutic as well.
32:38Is it?
32:39Yeah.
32:40Do you think what he does on holiday is something that you would typically do on holiday?
32:43No.
32:44So he's got his work cut out.
32:46He's got his work cut out.
32:47I think I'm going to have to lump it.
32:49We've not been able to let our hair down together much since we left the jungle.
32:53Yeah.
32:54So I think to end the trip on a high, I need to take Barry and Odie down the strip.
32:58Love it.
32:59Odie's strength is dancing.
33:02Barry's strength is boxing.
33:04My strength is taking holidays from work.
33:07So I think I've got this.
33:12Where does it look like we are Odie?
33:14It looks like we are in literally the middle of nowhere.
33:17They're actually heading towards the Spanish border and the Castro Marim Nature Reserve.
33:23Where Dean's planning to win over Odie and Barry with a relaxing spa day.
33:27We're here at a salt spa and there is wellness in the air.
33:32Because we've had quite a busy few days and it's time to just kick back, relax and float in the salty water.
33:39Look at this.
33:40Wow.
33:41Today we're going to be pampered.
33:43We're going to be preened.
33:44That's great.
33:45Barry, you're about to get a glow up and you're going to come out of here like a shiny two pence piece.
33:50I don't need to be any more shiny.
33:52Look at my head.
33:53We need to cover ourselves in the salt.
33:56Really exfoliate your body.
33:58And then we just float in the water.
34:00Yeah.
34:01This is the part where I wish I had have gone to the gym Barry.
34:04They used to have rock hard abdominals.
34:07Now unfortunately I've got a duvet over the top of them.
34:10Look wonderful.
34:11We haven't even reached the mud yet.
34:12Oh, are we okay?
34:13Oh!
34:14Oh!
34:15Yeah.
34:16Oh, babes.
34:17Oh, yeah.
34:18I'm going on holiday with you forever.
34:38Haha.
34:39Don't think we've forgotten about you at home because you could also be in with a chance
34:44to win a seven night holiday to the Algarve courtesy of Jet 2 Holidays.
34:49We're also throwing in £3,000 spending money too.
34:52Enter now for free.
34:54Go to the website before 3pm on Friday.
34:56You must be 18 or over.
34:58Good luck.
35:05Hiking or mountain biking?
35:08Darling, hold my hand.
35:10The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet 2 Holidays.
35:15Beach Funday or Ice Cream Sundae?
35:18Darling, hold my hand.
35:20The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet 2 Holidays.
35:25After two hectic days in the Algarve, Dean's hoping to find the winning formula by giving his old jungle mates Oti and Barry a very different day out.
35:39He's brought them to a salt spa for his favourite activity.
35:42Relaxing.
35:43So I'd like you both into a secret.
35:45Go on.
35:46So I've kept my jungle outfit in a bag in my bedroom and I've still not washed it.
35:55Yeah, same.
35:56I can't bring myself to put it in the machine.
36:01Every time I'm missing you, I just go and sniff the clothes.
36:04And that pungent smell of cockroaches and fish guts reminds me of you too.
36:10You're welcome.
36:11Only two of us.
36:12Only two.
36:17And now, we're big.
36:20Do you remember those feelings that you felt when you left the jungle?
36:27Yeah.
36:28I got out and I was on such a high and I really wish that that's where it ended because I'd been sent quite a few death threats.
36:39I didn't know you had death threats.
36:41Neither did I.
36:42I've never ever had that.
36:43It was something like 35.
36:4535?
36:46Yeah, it was 35.
36:47I think it's classified now as aggravated malicious contact is the official term for it.
36:54My agent said, look, there are threats to come to your work in the morning.
37:00I was like, for what?
37:02For like saying I'm a celebrity, get me out of here because I didn't want to be trapped in a box.
37:06Like, what have I said?
37:07What have I done?
37:08They said, I don't think it's what you've done.
37:10I think it's who you are.
37:12Yeah.
37:13And then I realized, oh yeah, homophobia is still rife and there's no getting away from that.
37:20Then I start going over the things in my head that I could have done differently.
37:24But now you're dimming your own light for other people to satisfy them and you can never make anyone happy.
37:31I had the time of my life. I don't regret a single thing, even the screaming.
37:36Yeah.
37:37I was a bit shocked to hear that Dean had death threats.
37:41Whoever threatened him, it just sounds ridiculous.
37:45To actually go out and threaten someone is just unacceptable.
37:48I have to remember that as long as my mum is proud of me and my boyfriend is proud of me, that's all that matters.
37:55Yeah.
37:56Because I won't be able to keep everyone happy because if I was everyone's cup of tea, I'd be a mug.
38:00Yeah.
38:01And with this clay on us, I think that could be happening pretty soon.
38:04That could be happening as we speak.
38:11Dean's love of mindfulness and nature is also the inspiration for his next activity.
38:17When I'm on holiday, I like to do things that you wouldn't normally get to do.
38:21I had a little look and a chat with Gio and he's recommended this spot, which is very famous for clam fishing.
38:27It's going to be very relaxing.
38:29Okay.
38:30How many times can you say you went on holiday and you fished for clams, Barry?
38:33No, never done it before.
38:35I've never been fishing and I've never been fishing for clams.
38:39I like my holiday friends to be outside their comfort zone.
38:47Oh, hi there.
38:48This is our friend.
38:49Hey.
38:50My name is Christina.
38:51How are you?
38:52Welcome.
38:53Good to meet you.
38:54So today I'm going to show you how to catch razor clams.
38:56Okay.
38:57A much sought after delicacy in the Algarve, razor clams are mollusks that love burrowing into sandy seabeds.
39:03Let's try and look for a whole shape of a number eight.
39:07Okay?
39:08And then we use a technique with salt.
39:09Oh, I see.
39:10So the razor clam inside doesn't like it?
39:12Yes.
39:13It comes to the surface, you grab it.
39:15Let's play a game.
39:16Okay.
39:17Who can collect the most razor clams in ten minutes?
39:20All right.
39:21Good.
39:22Right.
39:23Three, two, one, go.
39:24I'm going to get over here.
39:26Uh-oh.
39:27Here we got it.
39:28Barry's got one, everyone.
39:30Get up, get up, get up, get up.
39:31Get ready to catch it.
39:32Come on.
39:33There you go.
39:34Go on, mate.
39:35Go on.
39:36Go on, Barry.
39:37Go, go, go, go.
39:38Oh, no.
39:39No.
39:40He's gone.
39:41He's gone.
39:42The clam came out.
39:43No, he's not coming back.
39:44Saw Barry McGreggan and run.
39:45I don't like to get my hands dirty looking for food.
39:48I'm not that girl.
39:49I can't say that Odie's having a ball.
39:51And now my back hurts.
39:53I need physio.
39:54I don't think she's quite appreciated the fact that this is a mindful activity of relaxation.
39:59Are you in there?
40:03All right, please don't start punching the sand, okay?
40:05Exactly.
40:06Grab it, grab it, grab it.
40:07Get up.
40:08Yay!
40:09Here we go.
40:10Yep.
40:11Got it.
40:12Yeah.
40:13Got that one.
40:14Though it will be quite awkward if I set this challenge and I come back for nothing.
40:20Yay!
40:21Oh, God.
40:22They just keep winning.
40:27Clams.
40:28Got another one here, guys.
40:31Coming out.
40:32Oh, my God.
40:33I got one.
40:34Really?
40:35I got one.
40:36Get it.
40:37Get it.
40:38Get it.
40:39And then he's out.
40:40I got one.
40:41I got one.
40:42What is it?
40:44How many have you got?
40:46I've only got two.
40:47Two.
40:48I've got two.
40:50Come on.
40:51The next person to collect the clam wins.
40:55Oh, we just can call it a tie and go eat something.
40:59Are you happy with it being a draw?
41:01No.
41:02Has to be a winner.
41:04Come on.
41:06Oh, here we go.
41:07Yeah.
41:08Yeah, now.
41:09I did it.
41:10I did it.
41:11Yeah, yeah.
41:12There you go.
41:13Well done.
41:14Brilliant.
41:15You're the winner.
41:16I think this has been a roaring success.
41:18I mean, we're all feeling positively relaxed.
41:20I mean, I'm having a ball.
41:21I loved it.
41:22Didn't get enough bites.
41:24Got two.
41:25I can't think of anything worse.
41:27And for a girl with big boobs, bending over is not an ideal thing to do on my vacation.
41:34You know, I actually think that I was a fisherman in a past life.
41:37Is that right?
41:38Have I ever told you this?
41:39What are you laughing at?
41:41What?
41:42Why are you laughing?
41:44I just don't see it for you.
41:46What?
41:50It's the final night of the trip, and I've got one more trick up my sleeve.
41:54We have had the most relaxing day.
41:56And now it's time to hit the infamous Alba Faire Strip.
42:01For our last activity, I thought I would take you back to a place that I came to exactly
42:1610 years ago, because I came to the Alba Faire Strip, but I can't remember leaving.
42:21Oh, God.
42:22And look, I'm five years sober this year.
42:24Oh!
42:25And I thought that I would show you guys how you can still have fun in a night out.
42:31In sobriety?
42:32Exactly, Barry.
42:33What made you stop drinking?
42:35Alcoholism is in my family, and there was one Monday I was going to work.
42:41On the way out, I was stepping over bottles that were due to go down to the bin,
42:45and there was a two-litre bottle of vodka, four bottles of wine,
42:49and all these tins of gin and tonics.
42:52Never in my life did I ever think I would drink that much.
42:55And I knew I had a problem.
42:57And I said to my best mate,
42:59I think I'm just going to stop drinking for a month and just see what happens.
43:02And the one month turned into six months, turned into a year.
43:06Having the courage to do that takes an awful lot of effort, so congratulations on that.
43:11Thank you, mate. I know you get it. I know you get it, mate.
43:13And I thought tonight is the night for us to let our hair down,
43:16get our dancing shoes on, and party!
43:20Cheers, baby!
43:21Woo!
43:22This is something new, the cast will slide quite too,
43:25and this time we're gonna get funky, funky.
43:30We've met in the jungle, but we never had a night out.
43:34It took a night to remember, and that was something that always made me really sad.
43:38And, like, now with you, I don't know what I expected.
43:43Bronco!
43:44It's gonna work!
43:45I spend my life in clubs DJing, and that is my new party medicine.
43:50Bring all your friends and DJing in there in a bit!
43:53It's exactly how I like to spend my nights out in holiday.
43:55So the only thing I can remember about my night here was the Buck and Bronco.
43:59You have to get on it for all time's sake. Let's go!
44:03Right, who's got a euro?
44:04To the left!
44:06Take it back now, yo!
44:07Dino!
44:08Dino!
44:09Come on!
44:10Dino!
44:11Take it back now, yo!
44:12Woo!
44:13Woo!
44:152015 Dean wouldn't actually believe this.
44:18Making friends with Oti and Barry and coming back here to show them the chaos that I used to be
44:24really has felt special.
44:26Come on!
44:27It's brilliant!
44:28What happened this time?
44:30It was great to see Dean doing this thing.
44:32He's really good at what he does, and you can see how he gets the audience all worked up.
44:40Seeing Dean in his natural habitat was, I think, just unforgettable.
44:45He loves DJing, he loves clubbing, and he's done this all so good.
44:52Shall we have a nightcap?
44:53We have to have a nightcap.
44:54What are we thinking?
44:55Whiskey!
44:56Camomile tea!
44:57Oti, Barry and Dean have each shared their perfect day out, and now they must decide who
45:06will be crowned the champion Great Escaper.
45:09Each one of your days have been fantastic. I hope you've enjoyed mine.
45:13Yeah, we do.
45:14So I think we've got to come to the stage now where we've got to make our mind up on who's won.
45:19Oti, your day was pretty amazing.
45:22When you surprised us with these incredible buggies, it was phenomenal.
45:28It's almost like you picked it especially for me.
45:30Barry, I did not know what to expect with your day, but I loved learning about you, Barry.
45:34I love it when you talk about how much you love your wife.
45:37And we went on the catamaran, and then you cooked, and we didn't die of food poisoning.
45:44We survived!
45:45And then, Dean, the spa was fantastic.
45:49The way you opened up about the jungle, we hadn't realised what you were going through as a friend.
45:55Dino, the night was incredible. I've seen you in a whole new light.
46:01This is the real Dean McCullough.
46:03I have to think what things I wish I would bring my family to do, and so I'm going to go with Barry.
46:09Yes!
46:10Thank you. Thank you very much, Oti.
46:13Of all the things, those fast buggies, that was the thing I really loved.
46:17So, Dino, I'm really sorry. I'm going to go for Oti's day.
46:21Go on, Oti.
46:22Thank you, Oti.
46:23Well done.
46:24The power is in my hand.
46:26Wow.
46:27It's going to be so hard to call this, but my absolute highlight of this whole entire trip
46:31has to be the three of us on the front of that catamaran, watching the sunset.
46:35Yeah.
46:36Thank you.
46:37Barry.
46:38Yes.
46:39You are my winner.
46:40Yes!
46:41Yes!
46:42Thank you very much.
46:43Really, really, brilliant.
46:44And well done you.
46:45Dean and Barry definitely have surprised me.
46:47I mean, there were bits about Dean that I didn't know, that meant just getting to know
46:52who Barry was and how he lights up when he talks about his wife.
46:55We have experienced a once in a lifetime opportunity together living in the jungle.
47:00So the fact that we've came here, we've almost debriefed.
47:03I'm actually a bit sad to be leaving.
47:05This has been the best holiday that I have ever been on.
47:08Group hack.
47:09To the greatest game.
47:10Oh, yeah.
47:11Yes!
47:12I'm absolutely thrilled to win this.
47:14And of course, the bottom line is I've learned so much more about Dean and Oti.
47:19And they'll be my friends for the rest of my life.
47:21When you win, you have to buy the drinks at the bar.
47:23But that's fine.
47:53Pool dipping or margarita sipping?
47:57Darling, hold my hand.
48:00The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet 2 Holidays.
