00:00I think it's fair to already say the Yankees' biggest need at the deadline is bullpen arms,
00:04but is there a chance they consider adding another bat,
00:07whether it's an infielder, utility player, or right-hand hitting catcher?
00:10Yeah, I mean, I agree that a bullpen arm is what they need.
00:14You know, if they got someone who could close, I think Bednar would be a great setup guy.
00:18They do seem short in the pen. I think that's the number one consideration.
00:22I get the lineup is a little top-heavy. That isn't their number one thought.
00:26I'm fine if they just go bullpen and that's it.
00:29I mean, I've long believed that the lefty-righty setup men on this team ultimately
00:33are going to be Carlos Ogranje and Ryan Weathers for their biggest games.
00:37John, you know what I find fascinating? I was sitting down the other day,
00:40I wonder what you think about this, and I was trying to figure out from the teams
00:43that are struggling right now for the Yankees, which bullpen arm?
00:46And you know, you could argue that the best bullpen arm who could and should get traded
00:50is Aroldis Chapman.
00:52Yeah, I wonder. He signed a one-year deal there.
00:54Do they have some side agreement where he's not getting traded?
00:57Maybe. I also think the Yankees wouldn't reacquire him.
01:00Yeah, I know. He's been in trouble. That's an excellent point.
01:03Yeah. He's been great everywhere else, right? He's had some bad moments with the Yankees.
01:07You know, John, I'll tell you one other thing on this subject is it's been a long time,
01:11about 20-ish years or so. The Yankees acquired Pudge Rodriguez at the deadline one year.
01:16And afterwards, Brian Cashman talked about that he would try never again at the deadline
01:20to acquire a catcher because integrating a catcher because of the relationship they have
01:26with the pitchers is so difficult. And I think that has probably only gotten more difficult
01:29as the game plans have become more specific and framing has become more so.
01:34But I actually think that Ryan Jeffers fits the Yankees perfectly.
01:38If they're looking for another right-hand bat and a catcher who could do it,
01:41then he's a free agent at the end of the year. I wouldn't understand why the Twins wouldn't move him.
