00:00I'm Lucy Fink, and this week is 5 Days of Eating Only Pizza.
00:06Hey guys! It's Lucy, your favorite pizza lover.
00:11For anyone who follows me on social media, you already know how deep my love for pizza runs.
00:17I have pizza t-shirts, pizza stop-motion videos.
00:21I even made an entire YouTube video about my pizza addiction.
00:24So it's safe to say that I'm obsessed.
00:26This week is about thinking outside of the box.
00:30So the first thing we have to do is define what is pizza.
00:33It's not about bread and tomatoes and cheese.
00:36But to me, it's more so the idea of pizza.
00:39It's the crust on the bottom with some sort of toppings on it.
00:43It can be round. It can be square. It can be a triangle.
00:46Earlier this morning, I sat down with a nutritionist named Carrie Glassman,
00:50and her excitement about this experiment made me even more excited.
00:54I am not one of those nutritionists, by the way, that never indulges and never enjoys pizza and does not
00:59like food.
01:00Right.
01:00I love food. I love to eat. I love pizza. I like to indulge from time to time.
01:04So we have to make sure that you stay as healthy as possible while still enjoying this super fun five
01:10-day challenge.
01:11Exactly.
01:12And also, don't get completely sick of pizza so you never want to look at it again.
01:15Eat responsibly.
01:17Good job.
01:18Exactly.
01:18So today, though, you're going and touring Manhattan. I mean, I say today, enjoy.
01:22Just drink a lot of water throughout this challenge.
01:25That'll help, obviously, keep you hydrated, but it'll also help you eat maybe a little bit less pizza.
01:31I started out day one of my pizza challenge with a New York City pizza walking tour.
01:37Starting early this morning in Lower Manhattan, I'm on my way to Grotto Pizzeria to get a bacon, egg, and
01:44cheese slice.
01:47They don't sell individual slices, so I got an entire pie, and after I ate one slice, I saved the
01:53rest for later in the week.
02:00When I told my friends I was doing this experiment, I got at least three people telling me that I
02:05needed to go to Prince Street Pizza, a little family-owned pizza joint in Soho.
02:09Pizza tour, pizza tour.
02:12Listen to me and listen closely.
02:15If you are ever in New York, go to Prince Street Pizza.
02:19Just ordered a pepperoni square slice at Prince Street Pizza.
02:23I got my order number two.
02:24It's so fitting because it's pizza number two.
02:29Our beautiful baby.
02:31It's so good.
02:33Between slices today, I took Carrie's suggestion and made sure to drink tons of water to stay hydrated.
02:40And next up, for dinner, I was taking a casual stroll through the Union Square area, and I stumbled upon
02:45Joe's Pizza.
02:46I got a stunning, stunning caprese pizza.
02:51Got it.
02:52With fresh tomato, fresh mozzarella, and fresh basil.
02:56I took a photo of it, and I put it on my Instagram, and I think my entire Instagram community
03:01unanimously agreed that it was the most photogenic slice of pizza we had ever seen in our lives.
03:06That's good.
03:07And of course, no day, not even a pizza day, is complete without dessert.
03:11So I went to Max Brenner for a s'mores pizza.
03:14I love this place so much.
03:21And, oh my gosh, they served it alongside a chocolate martini.
03:27The perfect end to the perfect pizza day.
03:32Day two.
03:33I woke up this morning, and I had the cooking bug.
03:36So today, I'm hashtag working from home, and I'm going to make all four pizza meals, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and
03:43dessert, into homemade pies.
03:46If you're going to break it out like that by the meal, I would think, kind of think of each
03:49meal like you would think of the meal without the pizza.
03:52So for example, breakfast, what do you think of as traditional breakfast foods?
03:56But I always, you know, like to tell people to get in vegetables if they can, to absolutely get in
04:00protein, and also to get in some fiber.
04:03First up, breakfast. I loved my bacon, egg, and cheese pizza from yesterday, and I wanted to replicate that at
04:09home.
04:09So I decided to make it again with a few tweaks.
04:12Say hello to the Pillsbury Crescent Roll Pizza.
04:17I rolled out my dough from two cans of Crescent Rolls, cracked on my eggs, sprinkled cheese on top, and
04:22lay down some cooked bacon.
04:24And once it came out of the oven, I enjoyed my amazing breakfast pizza right here in bed.
04:33You know what makes a good lunch? Salad.
04:36So for this meal, I decided to eat a Greek salad.
04:39Just, you know, on top of a pizza crust.
04:43I rolled out some store-bought pizza dough using my water bottle.
04:48Always getting crafty over here.
04:49I added a garlic and olive oil base.
04:52Put some mozzarella and feta on it.
04:54And then I baked it on my pizza stone before adding some fresh vegetables and more feta.
04:59Guys, I think I might have figured out the new way to eat salad.
05:03Just turn it into a pizza.
05:05And for dinner, I wanted a margarita pizza completely from scratch, meaning I had to first make the dough and
05:11wait for it to rise and rest.
05:12And once it was ready to go, I added tomato sauce, parmesan, fresh mozzarella, garlic, and basil.
05:19And I waited for my masterpiece to bake.
05:21It was a beautiful success.
05:24100% perfect in every sense of the word.
05:27On the one hand, I really wanted fruit for dessert, but I also wanted a cookie.
05:33So I decided to make both.
05:35I baked a sugar cookie base, spread on Nutella, and topped it with a beautiful rainbow of fresh fruits.
05:43If it looks like a pizza, it probably is one, right?
05:51At this point in our internet relationship, you probably know Michael.
05:56Michael is my boyfriend of eight years.
05:58I think he might be tied with pizza in my book.
06:01But Michael is gluten intolerant, which makes going out for date nights to get my favorite food a little bit
06:06tricky.
06:07I want today to be all about dietary choices because I want to show that being gluten-free or being
06:12vegan does not have to bar you from eating pizza.
06:15I think gluten-free for breakfast, you could use either sweet potatoes or regular potatoes and make a hash.
06:22You could top it with some vegetables.
06:23You could top it with a little with cheese.
06:25So then you've got potatoes and cheese, which actually sounds really delicious.
06:28For breakfast, I went full gluten-free.
06:30I took Carrie's advice and used potato hash browns as the base.
06:34I baked them in the oven and then I added scrambled eggs, bacon bits, and cheese.
06:39Now this was definitely way out of the box for a pizza because it tasted more like a breakfast scramble.
06:44But for someone who's gluten intolerant, a hash brown crust is a great alternative.
06:50I have to backtrack and be honest here.
06:53When I woke up this morning, my stomach did not feel the best that it's ever felt.
06:57It's been two days now of eating nothing but pizza and I've had a lot of cheese.
07:02Oh no!
07:03Today's vegan lunch pizza stripped out all of that dairy.
07:06I made a vegan buffalo cauliflower pizza on a vegan and yeast-free crust.
07:11The crust was simple to make because there's no yeast in it so you don't have to wait for it
07:15to rise.
07:15The buffalo cauliflower was unbelievable.
07:18So spicy.
07:20So crunchy.
07:21And then I topped it all with a vegan ranch dressing.
07:25For dinner, I decided to get a little fancy.
07:29Because pizza doesn't have to be a sit down in your sweatpants and watch TV type of food.
07:33So I ordered a gluten-free pizza on Seamless, popped on this fancy gold dress,
07:38and surprised Michael with a romantic gluten-free pizza dinner for two complete with a candle and red wine.
07:45The two loves of my life at the same table.
07:49Cheers, Michael.
07:50Cheers.
07:54Day four of eating just pizza and I realized that I've done a ton of home cooking this week.
08:00So I reheated some leftovers from yesterday and Tuesday for breakfast and lunch today.
08:05And then for dinner, I took Carrie's advice.
08:08Find somewhere great that you can actually kind of go into the kitchen,
08:12go behind the scenes a little bit and learn what goes into making a pizza.
08:16Find some fun pizza places that you can get involved and learn a little bit there.
08:20I discovered Custom Fuel Pizza, a place that calls itself the Louis Vuitton of pizza.
08:25Because their pizza is personalized, it's not your average dollar slice pizza.
08:29They use all high-end meats and cheeses, fresh ingredients, and 100% homemade pizza dough.
08:36I made an all-veggie pizza, added sauce first, then put on mushrooms, onions, red peppers, and artichoke,
08:44followed by fresh goat cheese.
08:47And then you come on the side.
08:49And while the pizza cooked in the oven for only three minutes, we did the pizza dance while we waited.
08:55Waiting for our pizza.
08:57Check it out, check it out.
08:58I made it up, it's not a real dance.
08:59Cut it down the middle, and then...
09:03And then we added scallions, arugula, basil, and olive oil.
09:08And it was epic.
09:12So if you happen to be the owner of, or if you know someone who is the owner of one
09:17of these out-of-the-box,
09:18different cool pizza places, please call me.
09:23Cheers.
09:25Bye.
09:28It's my last day, and I've never had so much fun doing a Try Living with Lucy five-day challenge
09:34before.
09:34Throughout the course of this whole week, my coworkers have been so intrigued by this challenge.
09:39Everyone's asking me if I saved any pizza for them.
09:42And you know what?
09:44They deserve it.
09:45So today, I surprised my office by ordering a whole bunch of pies to Refinery29,
09:49and I fed my friends.
10:04And for dinner tonight, I couldn't believe that I had gone through this entire five-day challenge
10:08without stopping for one classic New York City dollar slice.
10:12It never disappoints.
10:14Final takeaways.
10:15Aside from a slight stomach ache on Wednesday, I feel completely normal and just like always,
10:20which I really do attribute to the fact that I diversified my pizza so much this week.
10:25I understand that not everything I ate this week is 100% considered to be technically pizza,
10:32as defined by the pizza gods above.
10:34But I think that pizza is really less about the individual ingredients and pieces that make it up,
10:39and it's more about the whole overarching feeling.
10:43And this week definitely captured that feeling for me and brought me so much joy.
10:48Thanks so much for watching, and let me know if you have any fun recipe ideas or any out-of
10:52-the-box pizzas
10:53that I should try.
10:54And if you don't have any suggestions, you know what to do.
10:58See you next time.
11:00He eats.
11:01Oh, oh.
11:01Do you love pizza?
