00:07It's kind of like Play-Doh, but there is 20 different textures, scents, you can make it
00:12smell like gas, bread, laundry detergent, like it's like crunchy, soft, it's like a lot of
00:18different things. It's not just like the green goopy slime. I call it an elevated multi-sensory
00:35experience so look at you only not the camera at all yeah you can just pretend
00:38they don't even exist okay I'm Christine sorry I'm Christine I'm Olivia and we run
00:51and we run a multi-million dollar slime business for a living.
00:56There we go. Is that good? Nailed it. Was it it?
01:00She laughs when she's not here. I know I laugh a lot like I can't stop in the beginning I
01:06only had
01:07like 2,000 in my account and I was like is this enough to start a business I
01:11honestly thought this slime trend would end every single year because it's just
01:16like so random and so niche but it never ended everyone thinks we film on like a
01:21camera but we just use an iPhone. Ready?
01:29TikTok's really helpful because we only do organic marketing all of the traffic that
01:34comes to our website is from social media. TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
01:44Kind of lazy when it comes to marketing like we don't want to deal with paid ads we don't want
01:49to deal with like email marketing or like
01:51an agency or whatever. We tried both and they just like it's not worth it.
02:01I love ASMR. My type of video style is very like ASMR focused.
02:09So these are the two scoopers I use. This is the original one. This is a new one. People hate
02:15this one. I don't know why.
02:17They were saying we're going to stop looking at your videos. I hate it. Stuff like that. I hate you.
02:24I get really sad when people are really rude. They don't realize how much like work goes into a slime.
02:31The comments don't impact me that much. They're really funny.
02:37In the beginning I think I saw a video. It was like a Thai slime account and I was like
02:43what is
02:43this? I have to touch it. Like I need it in my hands right now. And then I just started
02:47doing it
02:48for fun. Like I started making one, two, then it went to like a hundred and I had a whole
02:53cabinet full
02:54filled with like little slimes. When I was first experimenting with slime, I was smoking a lot.
03:00All the strain names, it was like Grape Crush, OG Kush, like Butter OG, Crystal Coma.
03:08And it just sounded like really good slime names.
03:12We did not make money for maybe six, six months. I was like actually losing money and scared every week.
03:19I just thought I could do everything by myself. But once I had more help, it became easier.
03:24So this is where we make the slime. This is Natalie and this is Anna. They're our slime chefs. They
03:29make
03:29all the slime that we sell.
03:30This slime is called 444. It's for the angel numbers restock. The base materials basically just
03:37consist of glue, activator, which is made with Corax and water. And the final texture is going to be
03:43what we call a drizzly icy. We basically use instant snow and water and it creates like a fluffy
03:49cloud-like texture. And this one's scented white sage and lavender. Every week we make in total it's
03:55almost 200 gallons of slime that we both have to take responsibility for. I like decorating things
04:03kind of weird. And I saw these car eyelashes and thought they would fit perfectly. There used to be
04:08an eyeball right here, but it fell off. It's our first big mixer. Like it was really like our first
04:13big, big purchase. It was this mixer. We have 14 employees. We just moved into a 11,000 square foot
04:21two-story warehouse. Coming from my tiny room to this space is honestly like it's insane. I don't
04:29think I've processed it yet. This is my first real office ever. Before we didn't have any space. Like
04:35I didn't even have a desk. Like me and Christine were sharing a desk in a corner. Everyone was just
04:40super squished and we couldn't, we literally couldn't make any more slime. This is Lauren,
04:44our warehouse manager. She's in charge of this whole space. We buy a bunch of different add-ons
04:52to add to our slime. Like there's plastic little round beads. These are made of styrofoam. We use
04:58different types of gravel and rocks, pom-poms. Our big thing right now is finding like realistic mini
05:04objects. Like we have tiny miniature candles which you can light. Tiny notebooks. Like you can write
05:11on them too and everything. This is from our rug restock. They're like dollhouse accessories.
05:17And this is where all the packaging happens. This is our packaging stuff. They're working on packaging
05:24the actual bases, putting the labels on, as well as making like the tiny sprinkle bags. We like to
05:30have warning labels on here because people say that they want to eat the slime and we clearly say do
05:35not. Every week we restock new slimes and this is just a board with some packaging details like what
05:43needs to be prepped, the new slimes. These are from our baking restock. We have sourdough starter,
05:49salted butter, tin foil, berry compote and our mini baking bundle. Which has eggs, brown sugar and almond flour.
05:58We try to do four to five new slimes every week and we aim for 1100 of each of the
06:06new slimes. So like
06:08around five or six thousand per week. We restock every Friday at 3 p.m. PST. They usually sell out
06:15within, it depends, like it's either a few hours or like two days. We're expected to make four to five
06:22million this year. I feel like even more. Maybe even more. My goal was six million. So we're doing
06:28better than expected at this moment. In the beginning, I was paying myself like one to two thousand a month.
06:39Barely. Yeah, I think when I joined, we only paid me like a thousand a month.
06:44And Christine was barely paying herself. She like didn't want to pay herself and I was like,
06:48as the CEO, you should get paid a lot more. And she just felt so guilty about being paid more.
06:53And
06:53so like I took over the finances and I was like, I'm going to start paying you this. And then
06:58basically
07:00every year we just like increased our salary and now we make six figures each.
07:04It definitely has to do with some childhood trauma. What is it called? Like the immigrant?
07:09Oh, we're first generation. Yeah. It's like imposter syndrome or something. Yeah,
07:14we have a lot of imposter syndrome and I feel like there's some trauma behind why we feel like we
07:21don't
07:21deserve everything that we've built. We think the money should go towards our employees first before
07:27we take more. And we always make sure that they're making enough and they're getting their bonuses and
07:31raises before we give ourselves a raise. Welcome to Slime 101. Okay. Welcome to Slime 101.
07:51So today we have tin foil. It is considered an advanced slime. There's a way to handle it. So
08:01if you're not experienced with handling a slime, like it happens to me too. If you know how to hold
08:07it
08:07and if you add activator, it also helps a lot. It's kind of like pizza dough. You have to like,
08:13you can't just like put your hand in it and then it looks like you have to like move really
08:17fast.
08:19This is our salted butter. This is a more intermediate to beginner texture because it's very clay heavy.
08:27And for some reason, clay makes slime less tacky. So it's easier for people to handle. This one's
08:34really soft and velvety. It's her favorite texture. My favorite texture.
08:41I don't think slime is a forever business for me because it's just, it's so much harder to sell
08:47than any other product in my opinion. But I'm very grateful that I get to like express my creativity
08:54as slime. We've never thought of it as a forever business, but every year it continues to surprise
09:01us because new slime trends come out and then it keeps gaining popularity and like new people are
09:07interested in it. And so it just keeps going.
