00:00I did read one letterbox review comment though that really made me laugh that said
00:06not Celine promoting broke men in this economy, which really made me laugh.
00:10What do you think of that?
00:13Thank you for asking me about it.
00:14I think that it doesn't make me laugh because it really is disappointing to me
00:18that I think that there is a very real confusion about feminism and the history of feminism.
00:24I think that because through intersectionality, so much of feminism has been about anti-corporate
00:32and anti-capitalist and of course it was always on the forefront of fighting classism.
00:38So I'm very concerned about the way that we talk about people who are poor
00:41and I think the thing that's very important to me is to stress that poverty is not the fault of
00:45the poor
00:46and I think that given that, it is very brutal, I find it very cruel to talk about John as
00:52a character
00:53who loves Lucy and who is a beautiful character being played beautifully by Chris
00:57and to talk about him as, in such cruel terms, as broke boy or broke man.
01:03I think that there is something about that, the classism of that, the kind of like hatred of poverty,
01:08hatred of poor people, whose again, it's not their fault that they're poor.
01:13I think that that is a very troubling result of the way that the wealthy people have, you know,
01:21gotten into our hearts about how it's your fault if you're poor and you're a bad person if you're poor.
01:27So I think I'm very, it doesn't make me laugh actually, it just makes me feel very concerned
01:33that anybody would talk about my movie and my characters and then to really talk, think about it
01:40in such classist terms, even the whole movie is about fighting the way that capitalism
01:45is trying to colonize our hearts and colonize love.
