00:01Good evening, you're watching India First. I'm Gaurav Savan.
00:05It is a matter of national shame that the national eligibility come entrance test undergraduates
00:12that need UG for undergraduate medical student admissions.
00:17Those papers have been cancelled after a paper leak.
00:21In our schools, when we pray to the goddess of knowledge, Maa Saraswati,
00:28what do we pray for?
00:30We pray for knowledge. We pray for purity of effort.
00:35And let me quote to you these immortal lines of poet Surya Kantripathi, Nirala.
00:41And I'm sure you've also heard this in your schools.
00:44You've recited this poem in your schools.
00:47The Saraswati Vandana, Varde Varde Veena Vadani Varde.
00:52Priya Swatantra Rav, Amrit Mantra, Nav Bharat Me Barde.
00:57Kaat-andh-urke-bandhan-star-bahajanani.
01:01Jyotir-mai-nirjhar.
01:03Kalush-bhed-tam-har-prakash, bhar jagmag-jag karade.
01:08What is it that we are praying for?
01:10We are praying to the goddess of knowledge
01:13for that light of knowledge.
01:17Tam so ma jyotir gamaya
01:19that we hope to move from darkness unto light.
01:23But is that what is happening?
01:25Look at what's happening on ground.
01:27Those we trust for impartial,
01:29free and fair examination process.
01:32They're actually taking us from light to darkness.
01:35They're letting the nation down
01:36and not once, repeatedly.
01:39This is not the first time
01:40that the NEET-UG papers have leaked.
01:43These exams are conducted
01:44by the National Testing Agency or the NTA.
01:48Let me tell you a little more about the NTA.
01:51This was established as a society
01:53on the 15th of May 2018
01:54under the Society's Registration Act of 1960.
01:58Why?
01:59A self-sustained autonomous body of government of India
02:02was created with the objective of conducting efficient.
02:06Transparent and international standard tests
02:10in order to assess the competency of candidates for admission.
02:13Now tell me this,
02:15if papers are repeatedly leaking,
02:17are these efficient, transparent?
02:19And is this international standards?
02:21Is this gold standards?
02:24The Parliamentary Standing Committee
02:25in its latest report,
02:27this is the December 2025 report,
02:29it says that NTA's performance
02:31in the last year
02:32has not inspired much confidence.
02:36The report says
02:37it's been brought to the notice of the committee
02:39that in the year 2024 alone
02:42of the 14 competitive examinations
02:45conducted by the NTA,
02:47at least five faced major issues.
02:50As a result, three examinations.
02:52And I want to give you the details
02:54of these examinations.
02:55The UGC Net Exam, NET,
02:58the CSIR Net Exam,
03:00and the NEET PG.
03:02Three examinations had to be postponed.
03:05One examination,
03:06NEET UG,
03:07saw instances of paper leak,
03:09and one examination,
03:11the CUET.
03:12This is that Common University
03:15Eligibility Entrance Examination,
03:17the UG and PG,
03:18saw results being postponed.
03:20Is this what we want for our children?
03:23Is this what we are doing
03:24to our future generation?
03:26Take for example,
03:28J.E. Mains in 2025.
03:29These exams were held in January 2025.
03:32At least 12 questions
03:34had to be withdrawn
03:34due to errors noted
03:36in the final answer key
03:37of the Engineering Entrance Examination.
03:41What kind of engineers will we have
03:43if the entrance examination
03:44cannot be sorted out rightly?
03:47The committee,
03:48and this is the Parliamentary Standing Committee
03:50to observe,
03:51that such instances
03:52do not inspire confidence
03:53of the examinees in the system.
03:56The Parliamentary Standing Committee
03:58noted NTA generated a surplus.
04:02This is the kind of money
04:03the NTA is generating
04:04from aspirants,
04:06from their parents.
04:08You and I are parents.
04:09We are looking at
04:10what's happening to our children.
04:11The NTA generated
04:12a surplus of around
04:14448 crore rupees
04:16in six years.
04:18Now, the Parliamentary Standing Committee
04:20has suggested
04:20this money be used
04:21to strengthen
04:22the testing and monitoring
04:24of capabilities.
04:25This subcommittee
04:26also recommended
04:27creation of a nationwide
04:28blacklist of firms
04:30involved in exam irregularities.
04:33You can't be a great nation.
04:35You cannot be either a Vishwaguru
04:38or a Vishwapandhu
04:39if your examinations are not clean.
04:42If your children
04:43can't be sure
04:44that the exam they take
04:45will take them to a brighter future.
04:47The METRI examination
04:49that now stands cancelled
04:50was taken
04:51by nearly
04:5223 lakh aspirants.
04:5423 lakh.
04:56Imagine
04:57what's going through
04:57their mind.
04:5950 people
05:00have now been detained
05:01including
05:02Shubham Khairnar
05:03from Nashik
05:04as the probe
05:05expands into
05:06a multi-state investigation.
05:08But that's cold comfort
05:10to those who
05:11took the examination.
05:12Parents,
05:13students,
05:13families.
05:15The National Testing Agency
05:16has handed over
05:17the case
05:18to the Central Bureau
05:18of Investigation
05:19for a comprehensive investigation.
05:21But what about
05:22past investigations?
05:24What action
05:24has been taken
05:25when
05:26problems have been
05:27found
05:28within the system?
05:30India today
05:30incidentally
05:31has mapped
05:31the alleged
05:32paper leak trail.
05:33At the centre
05:34of this investigation
05:35is Seekar
05:37in Rajasthan.
05:38Now Seekar
05:39in Rajasthan
05:40is emerging
05:41as the new
05:42quota.
05:42What is
05:43quota famous
05:44for?
05:44All these
05:45tuition centres
05:46where people
05:47prepare for
05:47entrance examinations.
05:49Investigators
05:49suspect
05:50that the leak
05:51originated
05:51from Nashik
05:52eventually
05:53reaching a doctor
05:54in Gurugram
05:55in Haryana.
05:56From there
05:57the paper
05:57was allegedly
05:58bought
05:59by a man
06:00from Jaipur's
06:01Jamwa Ramgad area
06:03before reaching
06:04the Seekar-based
06:04MBBS counselling
06:06agent
06:06Rakesh Kumar
06:07Mandwarya.
06:08These are
06:09initial investigations.
06:11But probably
06:13this is just
06:14skimming the
06:15surface.
06:16This is a
06:17much
06:17much
06:18deeper
06:19nexus
06:20that's operating
06:21in our country
06:22and it's been
06:23operating unchecked
06:24for a very
06:25long time.
06:26Let this be
06:26the last instance.
06:27Now sources
06:27are telling India
06:28today
06:28when
06:29these papers
06:30were circulated
06:31again
06:32through a
06:33one-on-one
06:34network and
06:34coaching centres
06:35how did it
06:37travel and
06:37where all did
06:38it travel?
06:38It travelled
06:39across Delhi,
06:40Jammu and
06:41Kashmir,
06:41Bihar,
06:42Kerala and
06:43Uttarakhand.
06:44At least that
06:44is information
06:44as of now.
06:46If it's travelled
06:46wider probably
06:47more information
06:48will filter in.
06:49Investigators
06:50believe that the
06:50paper was shared
06:51as a guest
06:52paper.
06:54A practice
06:55that's set to
06:56design and
06:56is designed to
06:57resemble the real
06:58examination.
06:59Now shockingly
07:00sources tell
07:01India today the
07:02paper had been
07:03circulating for
07:03nearly 15 days
07:04before the
07:05exam.
07:07Those who
07:08bought the
07:08so-called
07:09guest paper
07:10bought it for
07:11a price ranging
07:12between 30,000
07:13rupees some paid
07:14as high as 28
07:15lakh rupees for
07:17this paper.
07:19But I want to
07:20tell you this is
07:21perhaps just the
07:22tip of the iceberg.
07:23Let's dive deeper
07:24because this ladies
07:27and gentlemen very
07:27clearly is a national
07:29security issue.
07:30This is an issue
07:30that pertains to
07:32our future.
07:33Your children,
07:34my children,
07:35take for example
07:35from 2017 to
07:372024, there
07:38were over 70
07:39cases of exam
07:40leaks including
07:41recruitment,
07:42board exams and
07:43this didn't happen
07:44across just one
07:45state in one part
07:46of our country.
07:46It happened
07:47across 15
07:47states.
07:49Now such
07:50alleged paper
07:52leaks or these
07:53malpractices,
07:54they've actually
07:54impacted 1.7
07:56crore applicants
07:58across our
07:58country.
07:59Take a look at
08:00some of the
08:00biggest paper leak
08:01instances in
08:02recent years and
08:03let's start with
08:03the most recent,
08:04the NEET-UG
08:05examination.
08:06More than 22
08:06lakh children,
08:07they've appeared
08:08for the examination
08:09before the NTA,
08:10the National Testing
08:11Agency that's
08:12finally ordered the
08:13cancellation.
08:14It will announce
08:15fresh tests and
08:16fresh dates for the
08:17tests.
08:18But this isn't the
08:19first time this has
08:20happened.
08:212024, NEET-UG
08:22faced a controversy
08:23over allegations of
08:24irregularities and
08:26inflated mugs.
08:2723 lakh students
08:28took this exam.
08:29The Supreme
08:30Court-backed
08:31re-examination was
08:32conducted for
08:321,563 candidates
08:34who received those
08:35grace marks.
08:36The same year,
08:37UGC net exam,
08:40University Grants
08:40Commission,
08:41NEET exam,
08:42that was cancelled
08:43just a day after it
08:44was conducted.
08:45The Ministry of
08:46Education said
08:47inputs were received
08:48from agencies
08:48indicating that the
08:49integrity of the
08:50examination may have
08:52been compromised.
08:53more than 9 lakh
08:55candidates had
08:56registered for those
08:57exams.
08:59Again, not an
09:00isolated instance.
09:012024, the Uttar
09:03Pradesh Police
09:04Recruitment, the
09:06Constable Recruitment
09:07Examination had to
09:07be scrapped after
09:08reports of a leaked
09:09question paper.
09:11The exam saw the
09:12participation of over
09:1348 lakh applicants
09:15making it one of the
09:16country's largest
09:17recruitment tests.
09:202023, Bihar Police
09:22Constable Recruitment
09:23Examination, that was
09:25cancelled, there were
09:25allegations of
09:26widespread malpractice
09:27and paper leak.
09:2817 lakh, more than
09:3017 lakh candidates
09:31are appeared in those
09:32exams.
09:332018, CBSC, CBSC
09:35Class 10th and 12th
09:36board examination,
09:37they were rocked by
09:38allegations of leak of
09:39Class 10th mathematics
09:40and Class 12th
09:41economics papers.
09:42More than 28 lakh
09:43students were impacted
09:45prompting re-examination
09:46and nationwide
09:47outrage.
09:48CBSC, that's supposed
09:49to be gold standard
09:51of examination.
09:51What next?
09:52Will UPSC exams be
09:54compromised next?
09:56And this isn't, it's
09:57not as if there isn't a
09:58law in our country
09:59against paper leaks.
10:01There is the Public
10:02Examination Act of
10:032024, under which
10:05paper leaks have now
10:05become a non-bailable
10:06offence.
10:07There is talk of
10:09stringent punishment.
10:09There are provisions
10:10that are aimed at
10:11dismantling this
10:12organised crime.
10:14Remember, this is
10:14organised crime.
10:16There are cheating
10:17rackets and mafia that
10:19operate across our
10:20country.
10:22Education is big money.
10:25Anyone found guilty
10:26of leaking question
10:27papers or tampering
10:28with answer sheets
10:28can now face
10:29imprisonment ranging
10:30from 3 years to 10
10:31years.
10:32There's a fine of
10:3310 lakh to 1 crore
10:34rupees.
10:34But imagine this,
10:35even if that individual
10:37goes to jail for 3
10:38years, look at the
10:39number of lives he's
10:41destroyed.
10:42More important, he's
10:44destroyed faith in the
10:46system, which will take
10:48a very long time to
10:49repair and rebuild.
10:51More importantly, courts
10:53have the power to impose
10:55both jail terms and
10:56financial penalties
10:56together.
10:57The law, which came
10:59into force in June
10:592024, permits authorities
11:01to attach or even
11:02confiscate properties of
11:04the accused in serious
11:05cases involving paper
11:06leaks.
11:06And every case is very
11:08serious.
11:09Confiscate their
11:10properties, put them in
11:11jail and put them in
11:12jail and throw away the
11:13key because they are
11:14playing with the future
11:16not just of students,
11:17but they're playing with
11:18the future of our
11:19country.
11:21The crackdown should go
11:22beyond individuals.
11:23If institutions or
11:25service providers conducting
11:26examination are found
11:27complicit, they too can
11:28face legal action or
11:29penalties up to 1
11:30crore rupees, recoveries
11:32of entire examination
11:32cost.
11:34And if an organized
11:35syndicate or gang is
11:35found to be running a
11:36paper leak racket, punishment
11:38can extend up to 10
11:39years in jail.
11:39But is that enough?
11:40Do we need to do more?
11:41Despite this, papers
11:43continue to get leaked.
11:44The future continues to
11:47get destroyed.
11:49There's breaking news
11:50that's now coming in.
11:52We are now being told
11:53that the education
11:55department, government
11:58sources telling India
11:59today that they are
12:00prioritizing student
12:01welfare and the
12:02credibility of the
12:03examination system.
12:04A historic decision
12:06has been taken to
12:07reconduct NEET UG
12:102022.
12:11The education ministry
12:12says it has acted
12:14swiftly.
12:15It claims it is acting
12:17sensitively to ensure
12:18transparency and fairness.
12:20As soon as indications
12:22of irregularities in the
12:23examination came to light,
12:25the exam was cancelled
12:26without delay.
12:27A central bureau of
12:28investigation probe has
12:29been ordered.
12:30Now, this, they claim,
12:32reflects the government's
12:33zero tolerance policy.
12:35The ministry has clearly
12:37stated there will be no
12:38compromise with the future
12:39of millions of students
12:40in the country.
12:42Under no circumstances,
12:44this will be acceptable.
12:47But the bigger question is,
12:49why is it happening again
12:51and again and again?
12:54I want to quickly bring in
12:57Dr. Vikram Singh, a former
12:58IPS officer, former
12:59Director General of Police
13:00because, look, we must keep
13:02one thing in mind.
13:03We are the land of
13:05Nalanda University.
13:06We are the land of
13:07Takshashila University.
13:09How are our public exam
13:10systems leaking like a sieve?
13:13Why are we playing with
13:14the future of our country?
13:16And should this not be
13:18treated as a very critical
13:19national security issue?
13:21Dr. Vikram Singh, paper
13:23leaks seem to be like a
13:25very well-organized mafia-like
13:27operation and it's spanning
13:28across multiple states.
13:30And they seem to be
13:31operating with impunity.
13:33Year after year, we are
13:34reading these reports of
13:35paper leaks.
13:36And, you know, there's talk
13:38of a probe, there's talk
13:39of re-examination.
13:40But is that faith being
13:42destroyed, sir?
13:44Good evening, Gaurav Ji.
13:45Very rightly articulated by
13:47you, by having a cavalier
13:49attitude and loose kind of
13:52an attitude towards paper
13:53leaks, we have quoted the
13:54recipe of disaster.
13:56I mean, you may be struck
13:57by lightning once, but if
13:58one is struck by lightning
13:59multiple times, there are
14:01horrible fault lines in our
14:02system and we have chosen
14:04to look the other way and
14:05have allowed grass to grow
14:06underneath our feet.
14:08We have ignored the fault
14:10lines and in the process, we
14:12have allowed this, or you
14:13were rightly mentioned in
14:14your opening remarks, that
14:15this is not an ordinary
14:16crime, this is an
14:17organized crime.
14:18And an organized crime
14:19requires that it has not
14:21to be weeded up, it has to
14:22be stamped out.
14:23Unfortunately, the
14:25licentious manner or in a
14:26manner that is so loose
14:28that the structure in built
14:30infirmity is very much
14:32there in the system in which
14:33we have CVI investigation,
14:35many arrests, but no
14:36convictions.
14:37If there are no convictions,
14:39we have the law, we do have
14:40the law, the public
14:41examination, prevention of
14:43unfair means, Act 2024, but
14:45the act will only be as
14:46good if it is faithfully
14:48implemented.
14:49I dare say the law has been
14:51laxily implemented and the
14:53prosecution has been bad and
14:54the investigation even worse.
14:56If we have not been able to
14:57ensure the conviction and
14:59confiscate the movable and
15:00umbil property, rest assured,
15:02we are indulging in cosmetics
15:04and it requires for a drastic
15:06course correction.
15:07This is a national threat and
15:09as this is a concern, apart
15:11from the national threat, please
15:12understand that so many
15:14children are on the verge of
15:16harming themselves.
15:17I would not like to believe
15:18what I am reading on the
15:20social media that many
15:21children and I do hope that
15:22the parents and the teachers
15:23are there to handhold their
15:27children so that no child
15:28takes this drastic action on
15:30herself or himself.
15:31Oh, absolutely, sir.
15:33Absolutely, sir.
15:34You know, we seem to be
15:35playing with the future of
15:37our children.
15:37If examination process is not
15:40pure, are we not destroying
15:41the very foundations of a
15:45strong India?
15:46When we say Vikasit Bharat by
15:482047, how will we be Vikasit
15:51Bharat if cheating is the way
15:53for some to get ahead, sir?
15:55We cannot have Vikasit Bharat,
15:57Gaurabji, if we have
15:58substandard material, a material
16:00that has copied its way
16:01through to examinations and
16:03to prestigious medical
16:04colleges, etc., then what
16:06will be the standard and the
16:07national disgrace that it
16:08is damaging as it is to our
16:10prestige in India?
16:11Its consequences overseas
16:13would be even worse.
16:14Our degrees would be
16:15substandard, our students
16:16would be second grade, and
16:18no patient outside India,
16:20perhaps or even India, would
16:21be very comfortable taking
16:23treatment from doctors who
16:25have passed through devious
16:26means.
16:27Therefore, it is a collective
16:28conscience of the nation to
16:29ensure that it is an error-free
16:31and addresses meritocracy only
16:34and there is no scope on
16:35wonder-wise anywhere that they
16:37should qualify the examination
16:39through unfair means.
16:40Therefore, it is a national
16:41interest, not just in the
16:43interest of a dear 22 lakhs
16:45children, aspirants, their
16:46families.
16:47It is a human tragedy, no doubt,
16:48but it will be a national
16:49failure because this failure is
16:52not only serial, it is not
16:53only calamitous, but it is also
16:55has assumed epidemic
16:56proportions.
16:58Just imagine...
16:58You mentioned...
17:00Go on, sir.
17:00Complete your point.
17:01Go on, sir.
17:0289 paper leaks in 10 years.
17:04I mean, what are we...
17:05What kind of a system do we
17:07have in checks and balances
17:08and the brazen
17:09shamelessness with which we
17:10claim that we have done
17:11everything and we will
17:12ensure?
17:13No heads rolling.
17:14Brazen shamelessness, you
17:15say.
17:16Brazen shamelessness.
17:18I want to run our viewers
17:20through some of what's been
17:22happening in our country.
17:23And these are not your local
17:26unit test of class 1, 2, or 3.
17:28The JEE main 2021 paper leak
17:31case.
17:32The probe suspected the role
17:33of coaching centres.
17:35Was any wider action taken
17:37to ensure coaching centres
17:39cannot play this game again?
17:412024 UGC net paper leak.
17:44Now, the Ministry of Home
17:45Affairs, it alerted the NTA
17:47about a possible breach
17:49within.
17:50Incidentally, the UGC net
17:52paper leak exam had to be
17:53cancelled.
17:54Then, the NEET UG 2024.
17:56Six toppers appeared at the
17:58same centre in Haryana.
18:00Sir, does this not indicate
18:03over years and over vast
18:06territories, Dr. Vikram Singh,
18:08if this is happening, one,
18:10it's a well-oiled system, two,
18:13either the government is
18:14unwilling, incapable, or
18:18elements complicit that this
18:20system still continues.
18:22Gaurav ji, there are willing
18:24accessories to the whole crime.
18:25It is not pickpocketing.
18:27It is not ordinary theft.
18:28It is a thousand crores,
18:30a multiple thousand crores of
18:31crime, and therefore there are
18:32multiple beneficiaries.
18:34And those who are the biggest
18:35beneficiaries perhaps are looking
18:37the other way to ensure that
18:38the deep pockets are filled up
18:40and also that they are
18:42complicit in the crime.
18:43I'm speaking in very harsh words,
18:45but the ground reality and the
18:46obvious conclusions are that
18:48those who are benefiting from
18:50this crime, in fact, are those
18:52who are responsible for giving a
18:54transparent, fail-proof and
18:56foolproof examination.
18:57But they failed our youth, they
18:58failed the country, and this is
18:59the tragedy of the whole incident
19:01that yes, those in positions of
19:03authority who were supposed to be
19:04absolutely impartial were perhaps
19:07complicit in the whole sordid
19:08grammar.
19:09Now, my colleague, Maria Shaquille,
19:12spoke to the NTA chief.
19:14They claim all action is being
19:17taken, there is a probe, and a CBI
19:20investigation was ordered
19:22immediately.
19:23Listen in, I'll get you more on the
19:25story.
19:27There is a huge disappointment
19:29among the students.
19:30They feel that this entire testing
19:33agency lacks credibility and
19:36transparency.
19:36How will you assure the students
19:39that this scandal will not repeat?
19:42It almost seems like a pattern now,
19:44sir.
19:46We understand the anguish and the
19:49anger of the students and the
19:50parents.
19:51I know a lot of effort goes into
19:53this preparing for this
19:55examination, writing this
19:57examination.
19:58But had we not acted, had we
20:01allowed these campsites to be able
20:03to do what they tried to do, it
20:06would have further been something
20:08which would have not been fair for
20:10the large majority of students.
20:11So even though it's a tough
20:12decision on part of parents, on
20:14part of students, on part of NTA to
20:16conduct this examination, again, we
20:19take complete responsibility of
20:20that.
20:21We have said that we will not be
20:23charging any more fees.
20:24We are refunding the fees that we
20:25had charged earlier.
20:26We are committed to conduct a zero
20:28error examination.
20:29I know that till we actually do it,
20:32we will not be able to prove what
20:33we are saying.
20:35Dr. Vikram Singh, the Parliamentary
20:37Standing Committee in its latest
20:38report of 2025 says NTA generated
20:44448 crore rupees.
20:46448 crore surplus funds which should
20:50have been used or which should be used
20:51to make the paper, the system tamper
20:54proof.
20:55Very clearly, sir, this system does
20:58not appear to be tamper proof.
21:00Is it time for heads to roll?
21:03And that should not mean transfer and
21:05suspension.
21:06That should mean hard legal penal
21:09action.
21:11Excuse me, Gaurav ji.
21:12NTA is not a profit making
21:14organization.
21:15It is supposed to have a transparent,
21:18fail proof and foolproof examination
21:20system.
21:21Generation of profits.
21:22There are other Navratna companies who
21:24will do that for us and they are doing
21:25a wonderful job.
21:26Now, the brazen manner in which they
21:28say, we have condoned the feast.
21:30Do you think for a moment that the NTA
21:32and Abhishek Singh ji are doing any
21:34favor to the students?
21:36The human tragedy that has happened,
21:37it is an irreparable loss and cannot be
21:40just wished away or swept underneath
21:42the carpet.
21:42Therefore, there is much more action to
21:44be taken and I would strongly recommend
21:47that heads should roll.
21:48Those who are serial offenders and when
21:50I say serial offenders who have failed
21:51our youth and the nation multiple times,
21:53they need to go for heaven's sake,
21:55don't make a bigger mess of the ND than
21:57what you've already made it to be,
21:59a laughing stock and scandal mongering.
22:01Therefore, the nation calls for an
22:03absolute transparent and an absolutely
22:06efficient organization.
22:07Just imagine.
22:08Something like this happened in the
22:09uniformed services.
22:11I think even had it been a brigade
22:12commander or a general, he would have
22:14been sacked then and there.
22:16Yes, and when the government says
22:18postpone foreign travel or postpone
22:21buying gold for a year to save
22:23forex, look at the amount of forex or
22:26foreign exchange the country loses when
22:28students would prefer to study overseas.
22:31They'll take loans and study overseas
22:34because the system is more trusted.
22:36The education system is more trusted
22:38overseas.
22:39Is the government not letting the
22:42students down, sir?
22:44The nation cannot be taken for a
22:46ride.
22:46I'm again very sorry to say and use
22:48harsh words because this is hijacking
22:50the nation's youth and therefore the
22:51future.
22:52You very tightly mentioned I'm too old
22:54about my children, but you are young
22:56and the youngsters like you should be
22:57worried and concerned about the
22:59future of their children and the
23:00future of the nation.
23:01Indeed, I would say it is a national
23:03requirement.
23:04Instead of preaching what to do and
23:05what not to do, please do charity
23:08begins at home.
23:09And when charity begins at home, Gaurav
23:10Ji, I think the first thing to do is to
23:12reinforce the confidence and the
23:14self-esteem of the youth and the best
23:16way to do it is to give them a system
23:18where merit is recognized and copycats
23:21do not have a free run.
23:23Dr. Vikram Singh for joining me here on
23:26India Today on a very disturbing story.
23:28Many thanks, sir.
23:34When Prime Minister Narendra Modi tells
23:36the nation to postpone buying gold for a
23:39year or to postpone overseas travel so
23:42that the country can save foreign
23:43exchange, that it's a national duty.
23:46People listen to him.
23:47It's a suggestion, but people listen to
23:49him.
23:50Such is the level of trust in the effort
23:52that is being made to combat challenges
23:54that our nation is grappling with.
23:57Now, it's for the government to crack down
24:00on this paper leak mafia.
24:02Those in the system and those who are
24:05using the system from outside and ensure
24:08that that trust in examinations, that's
24:12rebuilt for a better future for our
24:16children and for our country, for the
24:18credibility of the examination system.
24:20After all, we pride ourselves in being the
24:23land of Takshashila and Nalanda
24:25universities. Our examination system cannot
24:28be leaking like a sieve in the manner in
24:30which it is for some just to be lining
24:33their pockets.
24:35As Ian Fleming wrote in the 1959 novel, which
24:38incidentally 1964 became this epic Bond film
24:42Goldfinger.
24:44Remember these lines.
24:45Once is happenstance, twice it's coincidence, three
24:51times it's enemy action and paper leaks have
24:55happened more than three times.
24:57It is enemy action.
24:58Clearly, the time has come to crack down on this
25:01enemy within.
25:04From the enemy within, I now want to shift focus to
25:08the enemy across nine terror camps, 13 Pakistani
25:14aircraft, 11 Pakistani air bases.
25:17They were targeted during Operation Sindhur, damaged or
25:22destroyed.
25:23That was the scale of India's response to Pakistan's
25:27state-sponsored radical Islamist terror that bled us in
25:31the 88-hour-long conflict between India and Pakistan in May
25:372025.
25:39For months, for close to a year, Islamabad claimed it won.
25:44It claimed that India's operations caused almost minimal
25:48damage across.
25:49Pakistan projected strength.
25:52Pakistan declared victory.
25:53A failed field general became a field marshal.
25:58Tonight, that narrative falls apart.
26:01The truth is coming from inside Pakistan.
26:05India today has accessed explosive videos that directly
26:09contradict Islamabad's false claims and absolute lies.
26:14This is a senior Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist caught on camera
26:19admitting that Pakistan suffered massive losses.
26:23Remember, for the first time ever, India hit Muridke, the
26:28headquarters of Lashkar-e-Taiba.
26:30For the first time ever, despite being a victim of Pakistan terror
26:33for decades, India hit that Masjid Subhanallah of Jai
26:38Mohammed in Bahawalpur, Pakistan has been bleeding us.
26:42This is the first time airstrikes inside Pakistan's Punjab province.
26:47And this is where India exposed the deep nexus between Pakistani terrorists and Pakistan
26:55army terrorists in uniform.
26:57In one of these videos, the senior Lashkar terrorist, Saifullah Khalid, is addressing a rally in
27:02Faisalabad on the 8th of May.
27:04This event was meant to mark what Pakistan calls is its operation Bunyan al-Marsus.
27:12Instead, Khalid ended up acknowledging the destruction inflicted on Lashkar terrorists and headquarters
27:19at Muridke.
27:20That was one of the nine, but one of the most important terror hubs that was targeted during
27:25Operation Sindur.
27:26Another explosive admission came from Hafiz Abdul Rauf, the caretaker of that Muridke complex.
27:34During a public gathering, Rauf openly admitted that senior Pakistan army officers, bureaucrats
27:39and political representatives, they attended the funeral prayers of the terrorists who were
27:43killed in Indian strikes because that is how closely they all operate as one family.
27:48But the admissions didn't stop just here.
27:50In another video from the same gathering, Rauf actually acknowledges that Pakistan failed
27:55to stop the Indian drones and Indian missiles from penetrating deep inside their defenses and
28:01hitting Muridke and Bahawalpur.
28:05On the night of the 9th, we were attacked again.
28:08Attacks occurred everywhere, including Noor Khan, Shorecoat, Raheem Yarkhan and Bahawalpur.
28:14He confessed the significance of the statement is enormous.
28:18Noor Khan, Shorecoat, Raheem Yarkhan are those key strategic air bases of Pakistan that
28:25Islamabad claims suffered no damage, either untouched or negligible damage.
28:31Now, Pakistan's own are tearing holes through those claims.
28:35Listen in.
28:47Iran
28:48foreign
28:54foreign
28:55foreign
29:01We have been fighting for a long time.
29:04The next day, the drone came out.
29:06You have also got to go to Islamabad, Pishawar, Lahore.
29:09The drone is still in Pakistan.
29:12Now we can't intercept them.
29:15The night of the night of the night was then attacked.
29:17The Nour Khan base, the Shorecoat base,
29:20the Raheem Yahr Khan airport, the Bahawalpur.
29:22They were attacked by people.
29:27Pakistan's own confessing to their night of horror.
29:32I want to quickly bring into this conversation,
29:34Lieutenant General D.P. Pandey, former Kashmir Corps commander.
29:37General Pandey, you've operated in Jammu and Kashmir.
29:42You've carried out counter-terror operations.
29:44You've commanded the Kashmir Corps.
29:46The truth has a very strange way of surfacing.
29:49We knew it. You knew it.
29:51But despite Pakistan's lies about victory,
29:53their own are revealing the truth.
29:55Does that prove the accuracy and lethality of Indian strikes?
29:59Pakistan may have denied it then.
30:00But the truth surfaces finally, sir.
30:04I think, Pashir, thank you for having me over here and talking about this revolution.
30:09And this video shows the fear and the scare on his face of this terrorist leader.
30:16I will not say terrorist leader, this terrorist head.
30:21The damages or the destruction which was carried out in that 88 hours.
30:26And I will not talk of 88 hours.
30:27I will just say on the night of the 6th, they were struck and they were horrified.
30:32So these very leaders who are egging on young men to die for their cause,
30:39their facial expression was evident at that point of time.
30:44Their military leaders, the way they were hiding.
30:46The shifting of the camps, Gaurav, which has started taking place in the sense
30:50they are now relocating critical elements into the depth,
30:54realising that Indian armed forces are going to search them no end to destroy when the orders come.
31:02Is something very, very, the sentence which you bring out onto the television is very important.
31:09Not for only Pakistanis.
31:11I think the Pakistanis know.
31:12The world knows.
31:14But I think there are a number of elements within our own country who don't want to accept it.
31:17That has been put right across by you so very beautifully by this video.
31:23So there is one part which I like to say.
31:25But second is, please understand, there were enough visuals which Rob talks of
31:29that the Pakistani military top leadership were standing along their leadership.
31:36In fact, the terrorist, the designated terrorist of the Americans was standing and leading the prayers
31:41when those bodies were laid out.
31:43A shout in the Pakistani color very, very strangely when Pakistan military doesn't even accept
31:50their own soldiers who get killed and does not give that kind of a dignity to them.
31:55And they were giving it to the terrorists who have been killed at Munitskaya.
32:00That's a very important point to make, General.
32:02But tell me this, will Operation Sindur and now that facts are coming and thank God for an interconnected world.
32:08Because even, you know, Pakistanis who denied they were hit, those living in Rawalpindi were denying Noor Khan was hit.
32:15They see all these videos and when they hear their brothers, you know, their terrorist brothers confess
32:21and that fear, they will also accept that they were hit.
32:24Will it deter Pakistan's military terror network, that Miljihad complex?
32:28Or will this doze have to be repeatedly administered to the state sponsor of radical Islamist terror?
32:36Yeah.
32:36So, this is a very good question which you've asked, but I must tell you like everybody will want to
32:41believe
32:42that a strike will ensure that they are deterred.
32:45This country, which is an artificial country, relies only on one facet.
32:50And that is to continue to have an enemy in terms of a religious divide,
32:54which Asim Manif said as much, just about a week before that paradigm dastardly act happened
33:00in which people were killed based on religion.
33:04He said very clearly that we are two different people and therefore we have a different set of path.
33:09This destruction will have to be repeatedly carried out, right?
33:13But yes, it puts a not only sense of fear, it grips this element into a fear and it goes
33:23down,
33:23retreats back for some time before they actually emerge as snake to carry out a strike again.
33:29I'll just very quickly give a few examples.
33:33Absolutely.
33:33And we went over a surgical strike.
33:35There was a calm silence for a few years.
33:38Pulwama happened.
33:40Palakot was done.
33:40Again, we raised an escalatory ladder by using air force striking somewhere near the IB
33:48when we hit those targets this time.
33:51And then again, there was a pause for a few years.
33:54And this time, if you actually see for last one year, there have been certain control of fear,
34:02which is going down in the mind of the Pakistani military and terror nexus.
34:10There is a fear.
34:11But yes, to believe that a radical mind is going to change and only one-time destruction
34:17is going to ensure that they will change their strategic direction will be actually defooling ourselves.
34:23We need to be prepared for the next strike.
34:26So, what is more effective, General?
34:30What is more effective?
34:31These strikes like Operation Sindur or unknown gunmen that Pakistan is so scared of,
34:39those unknown gunmen within Pakistan killing terrorists.
34:42Is that as effective as Operation Sindur?
34:45Because I am told there are many terrorists who now don't even want to come out in public
34:51because they are so scared that some amongst them will kill them.
34:56So, firstly, I think this carrying out a strike is very important.
35:02It is important because it puts the military onto the spot in front of their own people,
35:09where they are losing their credibility very, very fast.
35:13The country is actually polarized against their military.
35:17They use this Pahlgaam possibly to put the public behind them.
35:22It has not happened, right?
35:23So, I think this is very important to put the Pakistani generals onto the spot.
35:28This is one part.
35:29The second is about gunmen, unknown gunmen.
35:32I will love to believe, right, that those gunmen are working on two hours.
35:37But, I will like to put another theory about it.
35:44I think after this strike, there is a change which is happening.
35:48The change which is happening at the top leadership of the terrorist leaders.
35:53Certain elements who are not allowing the changes to happen the way they require to be done
35:58are being neutralized within their system and not through the unknown gunmen or the Durandas.
36:06Very interesting.
36:07So, what you are saying is that it is a more radical crop of terrorists.
36:10The next generation of jihadis, they are being prepared or they are now coming to the fore.
36:16But, I also want to understand from you, General Pandey, given your long experience in Jammu and Kashmir
36:22and in handling the state sponsor of radical Islamist terror,
36:26keeping Pakistan occupied along this 2,600 km long Durand line.
36:32Is that more effective?
36:34I will just come to that point in just a moment.
36:37I quickly want to cut across to Arvind Oja joining us for more on this story.
36:42Arvind, this video, it gives Pakistan completely no doubt.
36:49So, what do you want to do with Pakistan?
36:52What do you want to do with Pakistan?
37:18Pakistan has confessed that there was a lot of attack.
37:27The second confession was Hafiz Abdul Rauf.
37:34foreign
38:04This task was given to him to the Lashkar's forces that he would get out of Pakistan and the army
38:10of the army would be the best of his victory.
38:13So he would be the best of his victory.
38:15At the same time he had a big confession that he had done with Pakistan's airbase.

40:24Thank you very much.
40:25Thank you very much.
46:32in the delays land is not available imagine in our own country to protect
46:38our own country a state government in the past refused to give land to the
46:43center to put up that border fence despite the center already acquiring and
46:48paying for nearly 127 kilometers of land Mamata Banerjee government had handed
46:53over less than eight kilometers to the BSF prompting sharp observations
46:58including by the Calcutta High Court that why is it that land is not being
47:03provided the BJP government's hardline posture has triggered angry reactions
47:10across the border those images that you see on your television screen that's
47:14Bangladesh so because a border fence is being put Bangladeshi radicals they are
47:19up in arms several Bangladesh based Islamist organizations are holding
47:23protest rallies in Dhaka why they say Muslims are being targeted in India
47:29after Bengal elections look at the kind of propaganda these elements create
47:34Islamist leaders they raised very aggressive anti India slogans they
47:39alleged attacks on madrasas and mosques they issued a warning to India that
47:45country is dependent on India even for the most basic things and these radicals
47:52they're issuing warning to India they're threatening India about safety of
47:57Hindus in Bangladesh who've already been targeted when Mohammed you know so
48:02called you know I mean he was the Nobel laureate he was but Hindus were
48:06targeted when he was at the helm of affairs now they are threatening that in
48:11case something happens to Muslims in India Hindus will be targeted Bangladesh look
48:14at the language of of that country but let me get you more on the story
48:21I'm going to get you more on the story I'm going to get you more on the story I'm going
48:30to
48:30get you more on the story I'm going to get you more on the story I'm going to get you
48:42more on
48:43the story I'm going to get you more on the story I'm going to get you more on the story
48:46I'm
48:46going to get you more on the story I'm going to get you more on the story I'm going to
48:48get you more
48:56I quickly want to cut across to India today's Tapas Sengupta joining us with the latest.
49:00Tapas, you've covered the story very extensively over the years.
49:04Now, when Shuvendu Adhikari as Chief Minister of Bengal says land will be provided in the next 45 days,
49:11what were the hiccups? How will it happen?
49:13And does that mean Indian borders will be, the India-Bangladesh border will be most secure in 45 days from
49:19now?
49:22Well, see, Gaurav, the crux of the matter is that 90% of my sources within the Home Ministry here
49:28have confirmed
49:29that approximately 90% of the land procurement process was complete.
49:33It was the ask by government that delayed in handing over the land to the BSF.
49:37The lands were identified, the lands were almost on the verge of handing over.
49:42But somehow at the block level, when everything was finalized on the top level,
49:47it was said that it cannot be handed over because there are a lot of encroachment in and around the
49:52border,
49:53close proximity to the fence, so they should not be touched upon.
49:57But now what Shuvendu Adhikari have decided and categorically stated that within the next 45 days,
50:03the plan of action will be executed and the entire stretch of land,
50:06at least 90% of the land which is available, which have already been demarketed,
50:10can be handed over to the BSF in no time.
50:13So it's just a matter of time and when we can see a complete border,
50:19the places which were porous or spoil, there were no fencing,
50:23the entire stretch would be fenced.
50:24Yes, there are multiple locations.
50:26So the last 30 seconds I have on this part of the show,
50:28can you explain to me, will people have to be displaced,
50:31will homes have to be removed, why is it that land was not provided,
50:36is it like an empty stretch of land where a fence can now come up?
50:40How will this fence come up that could not come up earlier?
50:45Well, see, it was basically, it was a lack of political way,
50:49because there was a good compensation that the central government was ready to provide.
50:54The lands were demarketed.
50:56Actually, 90% of the entire section of land that is required to be transferred to the BSF
51:01have already been demarketed.
51:03Only the legal process had to be, had to get a seal from the state government
51:06that the worthwhile government did not do.
51:08And as far as displacement of the border population is concerned,
51:12there have been multiple locations identified earlier jointly by BSF,
51:18CPWD and also the state government,
51:20that when these people can be displaced, not very far away.
51:23So those things are already done on ground.
51:26But it was a lack of political will that the work could not be executed.
51:30Now the BSF have come into court from the BSF, CPWD and the state's home ministry
51:34are working, also the central home ministry are working in tandem
51:39to get the work done in the next 45 days.
51:42And it doesn't seem to be a very indomitable task.
51:45It's very much possible.
51:46And we are hoping that the unfenced border will be fenced in,
51:50maybe if not 45, maybe in a couple of months time now.
51:53Keep tracking that story.
51:54I will come back to you for more.
51:56Even on a critical national security issue,
52:00like fencing at the India-Bangladesh border,
52:04the erstwhile government of Mamata Banerjee,
52:06the Trinamool Congress government,
52:07was unwilling to provide land for border fencing.
52:13Now is that how we will run a federal system where the state refuses to cooperate with the centre
52:21as the home minister put it, even on critical national security issues?
52:26And perhaps the voters saw through this.
52:29We'll be tracking that story very, very closely.
52:31Because whether it's a state government or a central government,
52:35we're all Indians and we all must keep India first.
52:40Many thanks for watching.
