Washington is coming off a rough season, but could the Commanders still play a ton of primetime games in 2026?
Transcript
00:00There are 18 weeks to the NFL season.
00:06Teams play 17 games.
00:10Therefore, there is no Monday night football week 18.
00:20I believe the Thursday nights miss one at some point.
00:26But let's just roughly add it up.
00:30How many prime time games between Thursday night, Sunday night, Monday night are there?
00:37Early on, you have two games on Monday night.
00:42And the first week, you get two on Thursday night.
00:45No, it's a Wednesday and a Thursday.
00:49Wednesday, why? Because it's in Australia?
00:51Yeah.
00:52Maybe the Thursday's in Australia.
00:54Normally, it would be two on Thursdays.
00:57Let's not even get into the minute permutation.
01:00That's where I'm going because I'm trying to figure out the first week, you basically look at one, two, three,
01:06four, five prime time games.
01:08Right.
01:09Then after that, it's basically three every week.
01:11So what is three times 18?
01:1454.
01:1554.
01:16No, no, no.
01:1748.
01:18I don't know.
01:1936, 54.
01:20Yeah, it's playing golf.
01:21I'm getting like JP.
01:22He rubbing off on me.
01:24So there's 54 prime times just off the break.
01:28Yeah.
01:29How many international games are there now?
01:31Ten?
01:32Nine.
01:32Nine.
01:33So we're at 63 national windows.
01:36Then you've got Black Friday, 64.
01:41Christmas.
01:42Christmas.
01:43Thanksgiving, there's three of them.
01:45Christmas is more than one.
01:46Christmas is three, it looks like.
01:48Six, 64, 70.
01:5170.
01:51Let's call it 70 national window games.
01:58Okay.
01:59There's 32 teams.
02:00Mm-hmm.
02:02Just on math alone, every team has to play at least two.
02:06Yeah.
02:06Right?
02:07And doesn't the league mandate that every team plays Thursday night?
02:09Yep.
02:10So I'm really curious what the commander's prime time schedule is going to be.
02:18I spoke with someone, spoke with someone, and the explanation was, I know they had a bad
02:29year, but Jaden Daniels still brings eyeballs.
02:32Yeah.
02:32And I find that to be true, right?
02:36And I'm very curious what the prime time, now we know they're going to play in London,
02:44that's the national window, that'll be a 9.30 kick.
02:46Yeah.
02:47I'm curious what the prime time is.
02:49You know they're going to London, you know they're going to have a Thursday night.
02:52They have a Thursday night, I think they have a Monday night.
02:54I think they have four or five prime time games.
02:58You asked me this last week.
02:59I know.
02:59And I told you that.
03:00What's interesting, though, there is this dude, NFL schedule enthusiast, his name is
03:06schedule release.
03:07I don't know if it's a dude, might be a lady, might be an alien.
03:09I have no idea.
03:11This dude, this person, is that better?
03:14This dude, dude kind of means guy, right?
03:19Yeah, the lady told me that you killed him and you called women dudes.
03:23I say it to my wife, she gets pissed.
03:26She said that last night.
03:28Can you please tell JP to stop calling women dudes?
03:31Hey, man, equal opportunity.
03:36This human that runs this schedule release website put out his schedule for the commanders.
03:45We're going to talk to Joe Ferrer about this a little later, but as you get closer
03:48to the date, the anticipation builds and builds and builds.
03:51We'll know the international game tomorrow morning, I believe.
03:54Week four is the international game.
03:56Book your tickets now.
03:58October 4th.
03:59October 4th.
04:02According to this person's schedule, now so much can get flexed in the latter stages of
04:08the season that it doesn't necessarily matter as much.
04:12They only have the international game who he has them playing the Bengals, which would be
04:17a rematch of the tie.
04:18Skins, Bengals in Wembley.
04:20Reracket in Tottenham.
04:24And then he has a week 14 Thursday night game at the Meadowlands against the Giants.
04:29And that's it for national windows.
04:31Okay.
04:33And the question I would ask you is this.
04:35Now, the last two games are all TBDs.
04:37Did you know this guy before you read that thing?
04:40I have been aware of this guy for a couple years.
04:43He's pretty good at this stuff.
04:44Now, I don't know.
04:45He doesn't know.
04:46What's his percentage right?
04:49I don't know.
04:50I mean, he tries to do every team.
04:52So my question is, what's his percentage right?
04:55I don't know that much.
04:56I mean, Mel Kiper's been around forever.
04:59As long as I've been living.
05:00And he's not damn perfect either.
05:02No.
05:02So I'm not worried about what this guy wrote.
05:06Of the holiday games, he's got Pats, Lions, Eagles, Cowboys, Seahawks, Broncos at night.
05:13That's a banger of a football day if that comes to fruition.
05:16Yeah, I'll take that.
05:17Black Friday, Steelers at Ravens.
05:19Baltimore would be bouncing for a Black Friday game.
05:23I think of all the possible holiday games.
05:25They're going to tape a new wire that night.
05:28Black Friday might be the best of all the possible holiday games.
05:31Because you've already done the family thing all day.
05:34Then everybody just has that day off.
05:36Why not go tailgate for six hours?
05:37Yeah.
05:39Christmas Eve, to me, seems like a tough sell.
05:41He's got Dolphins at Colts on Christmas Eve.
05:44That is a dog of a game.
05:47You want to watch me go to church?
05:51You never know.
05:52Those teams could be totally different this year.
05:54I mean, worst first happens every year in the NFL.
05:56Oh, yeah.
05:57Christmas Day, Bears, Bills, Vikings, Packers, Chiefs, Rams.
06:04That's a banger of a Christmas.
06:07Yeah.
06:07So we'll see, man.
06:09I just think they'll have to.
