00:00Can you see a scenario in which the U.S., perhaps with some of its allies, forcibly reopens the Strait
00:07of Hormuz?
00:10Thanks. I do see that scenario. It's a difficult scenario.
00:13And one of the things we've learned over the last several years, in particular in the Bab-o-Mandeb Strait
00:19down at the southern end of the Red Sea,
00:21is that a group of people without a navy, the Houthis, were able to wreak havoc on the global maritime
00:30community because of their attacks with basically land-based anti-ship cruise missiles and some drones, both airborne drones and
00:40some surface drones.
00:41So an organization that had no navy was able to create a lot of disturbance in the Bab-o-Mandeb
00:49Strait.
00:49The same is true here in the Strait of Hormuz.
00:51It's easier to keep it closed if you're one of the land powers that adjoins the Strait.
00:56And it's more difficult from a strictly military standpoint to get it open.
01:00But it can be done.
