Deputy Liberal leader Jane Hume says the Coalition has paid the price at the Farrer by-election. She says breaking up the Coalition was a breach of trust and it needs to be rebuilt.

00:02We always knew that it was going to be a tough by-election with the retiring of the local
00:07member who'd been there for a quarter of a century. It's a really long time to be in
00:11Parliament and to represent your community. The community were feeling disillusioned.
00:16We've heard the message loud and clear. We need to rebuild trust. We've lost trust in
00:21the last few years and we need to rebuild that now.
00:24Well it's only been 10 weeks that Angus Taylor has been the leader and fewer than that that
00:29Matt Canavan has been the leader of the National Party. I think that the breaking up of the
00:35coalition twice just in the last 12 months alone has been a pretty devastating breach of trust for
00:41the Australian people. They expect a united and strong coalition. Now that's what is in place now
00:46but we paid the price for that breach of trust at the Farrah by-election.
