00:01One, two, three, Metro!
00:07After two years of South West Sydney residents having to catch pink replacement buses, the
00:12South West Metro line is officially open today.
00:17It took a lot of work because Transport for New South Wales and the Metro actually had
00:22to replace the old 130 year old traditional train line with this new driverless Metro line.
00:31And people are really excited here in South West Sydney about what it means for their commute,
00:36as well as what it means for the local area.
00:39Let's take a listen to what some residents and business owners had to say.
00:43It's very, like when we go on it and it starts moving, it really moves around.
00:50Do you like it?
00:51Yeah.
00:51So now I think it's easier for everyone and it's good for the business in this area.
00:56We live right near the railway station.
00:57I lived in Tokyo in 82.
00:59We brought 82's technology to 2026 but better.
01:03And today is also my birthday.
01:05I've got the same birthday with the Bankstown line.
01:07And so this is the official birthday gift for me.
01:10Thank you for Sydney Metro.
01:12Hundreds of people turned out for the first service this morning at half past four.
01:16And it's going to make a huge difference to people's lives here in South West Sydney.
01:21For example, for the journey from Punchbowl to Barangaroo, the Metro will actually shave 24 minutes of people's commuting time.
01:31So a huge difference for people here in South West Sydney.
01:35It's so much fun for us.
01:35It's really nice.
01:35A huge difference between social media and social media and the system.
01:37See you.
01:37So to have a lot of people here, we're going to have a really nice decision for the past seven.
01:37You
