00:00Did you know, people, second place right now in that division?
00:02It's the Washington Nationals.
00:04Getting some big starts out of young players?
00:06Absolutely.
00:07Take a look at Foster Griffin here.
00:094-1 on the season, a 2-12 ERA, 42 Ks, and a whip of 1.03.
00:14But, Craig, when you start to say, well, eventually they'll get a book on the kid,
00:18not so fast.
00:19His last three starts, .45 ERA, 20 Ks over his past 20 innings here.
00:24Picking up some good stats here for Foster Griffin.
00:27Yeah, and devastating against left-handed batters.
00:30He just, he came back from overseas throwing seven or eight different pitches, Donnie.
00:36I saw him in person play in the Futures game in 2014.
00:40I saw him play as a member of the Kansas City Royals in their organization,
00:45and he was a first-round pick, if I'm not mistaken.
00:47I thought he was going to be a star.
00:49It didn't work out.
00:50He's reinvented himself.
00:51I was at the game that he pitched against Miami this weekend.
00:54I think he maxed out at 92 miles an hour.
00:56We talk about Mizorowski.
00:57This is the opposite.
00:59Like, you would never send Foster Griffin to a driveline, Donnie, you know?
01:03Like, he's just going to, you know, throw it up here and throw it down there
01:07and then throw it here.
01:08I think I got all the quadrants of my box here.
01:09Yeah, that's all he does.
01:11Two different change-ups he throws.
01:12He throws one from here and one from here.
01:14So, look, credit to the Nationals for signing him.
01:17I do question as to whether or not three, four years from now this can work,
01:22but there are pitchers like this that have succeeded, Donnie.
01:25A name that, you know, came up to me this weekend was, I'm sure you remember,
01:29is Marco Gonzalez.
01:30Remember him?
01:31He pitched with the Cardinals, and then he pitched with Seattle for a number.
01:34And every year, you were just kind of like, oh, Marco Gonzalez is going to make 30 starts.
01:38He's going to win as many as he loses.
01:40The ERA is going to be in the high threes, and he's going to get 150, 160 innings.
01:43I mean, Foster Griffin's going to have a fantastic next three or four years, I think,
01:47of his career, whether it's with Washington or someone else.
01:50But yes, I was very impressed with how well he pitched.
01:54I believe he also struck out nine, if I'm not mistaken,
01:56and that was a career high for him on Friday.
