00:00You know, Victor Hovland was the champion of the Travelers, but the fans were.
00:05They were the real champions.
00:06I got so much respect for the New England fans, but also the Norwegian fans that showed up.
00:14Obviously, in town, they were playing in Boston this week.
00:17But, buddy, it was one of the best atmospheres I've ever seen on the PGA Tour.
00:22Now, if we didn't have that rain come through, you wouldn't have believed.
00:26You would talk about a crowd pop that we heard last night.
00:29It would have been 10x that.
00:31That's how many people had left that never got back into the golf tournament.
00:35But these people, they hung around.
00:37They were in the slop.
00:39They were doing snow angels in the mud, and they did not leave.
00:43I have so much dang respect for that New England crowd.
00:47Travelers Championship does it better than anybody.
00:49And there's a lot of tournaments that can go and look and see what they do well and try to
00:54emulate what they do, which is fan first stuff.
00:57Having parking on site to where people aren't having to hop on shuttle buses.
01:02Just when you walk in, you got all the famous announcements of past wins.
01:08And then a golf course that is not long.
01:12It's 6,800 yards, but it's fun.
01:14And people get to see a lot of birdies.
01:16And you get twists and turns.
01:18It's fun to watch on TV.
01:20So it's a, you know, we talk about all the time having an event after a major championship.
01:27And, you know, just these guys not being into it.
01:30Well, this week kind of proved otherwise.
01:32Scotty Sheffer was, he was uppercutting people for par putts, you know, yesterday.
01:38So I just thought it was so much fun, man.
01:42And I could have done another 36 holes today with those two.
01:46And that goes a long way from a guy who had to stay an extra night and then make some
01:51last-minute travel plans to go that you enjoyed it that much.
01:54What is it about, because I think a lot of times on PGA Tour we see low scoring, low numbers,
01:59and the general reaction from everyone is, this is boring.
02:03We want it to be more challenging.
02:04What is it about this golf course that it's almost, there are a couple holes down the stretch where water
02:10comes into play.
02:11But, of course, if you take on the risk and execute the shot, then you can make a birdie.
02:15And we've had so many playoffs in recent years.
02:17You noted all the fan forward stuff that the Travelers does.
02:20But what is it for you, and you've already touched on a lot of these points, but just makes this
02:24event stand out, even if it's low scoring?
02:28You know, it's the back nine for me.
02:30The front nine is kind of blah.
02:31It's a Parkland golf course on the front.
02:33But when you get to the back nine, there's just so much great characteristics about each and every hole.
02:38You know, you have a tree in the middle of the fairway in the 10th hole, a downhill short front
02:41par 3 at 11, 12, the very difficult short par 4.
02:4513 is one of the toughest driving holes that we have on the BJ Tour for a par 5, and
02:50a risk-reward second shot.
02:5214 is so much fun down the hill to the left, and a tree in the way if you get
02:56too far on that left side.
02:5815, dribble par 4, 16, par 3 over water, 17, a crazy tee shot on top of the hill into
03:05a small fairway, and then 18 with the amphitheater.
03:08It's like you just don't have any dull moments on the back nine.
03:13So often when you watch a golf tournament, you know, you're like, eh, you know, kind of getting bored.
03:18You don't get bored of the travel championship because the crowds are good.
03:23You get the pops from a lot of birdie putts, and typically the leaderboard is always great too.
