00:00um all right let's go to the cleveland guardians who are 44 and 41 they're a game and a half
00:05clear
00:05the final wild card spot at three over 500 cleveland has some glaring deficiencies the
00:10most notable one being jay ram with the hamate issue jose ramirez out it seems like for maybe
00:16a couple more weeks um but jose ramirez what kind of guy do you get on the heels of a
00:20broken hamate
00:21is the power going to be zapped he was one of the most prolific base dealers in baseball before
00:26going down when jay ram comes back he can clearly win them baseball games by himself and i i don't
00:32know if i'm ready to say i expect jay ram to take a dive because i never want to underestimate
00:37that
00:38guy ever and i i feel like i did it seven years ago and i got burned and i'm just
00:43never going to do it
00:43again um but jose ramirez we talked about roquio breaking out i would love to see them get a
00:49little bit more offensive help man i really would and then i i guess maybe a starting pitcher or
00:54something but i just don't know if they're gonna buy it's not in their dna yeah but i wonder if
01:01because of just just everything we've talked about and i've let it out and i want i really wonder if
01:05the guardians feel this too like this is a better guardians team than we've seen in in recent years
01:12uh and and then they're doing this with steven kwan being one of the worst hitters in major league
01:15baseball like just point blank he's been horrific and it's been really tough to see because i i like the
01:22guy a lot and i think he's a very fun player but it's just been brutal to watch so you
01:27imagine if
01:27kwan was even just league average how much more that would give them offensively but right with
01:31some of the internal you know just improvements and and and prospects that they've brought up and
01:36we've talked about roquio but then you know also just having to water and bazana and there's a lot
01:41to like there um and the way that they've been able to just kind of keep pushing without jram i
01:45think
01:45jram's gonna come back and be fine because he's freaking jram um and at least from one side of the
01:50play it'll feel better than the other and and he'll be productive from there but uh at the end
01:55of the day he'll have time to kind of get going and and then just really sprint from there um
01:59the
01:59the rotation like i feel pretty darn good about man when you look all the way one through five like
02:05your weakest link is slay jaconi at a 418 um that's that's pretty good uh it's a pretty good five
02:10man especially with what you've gotten from messick and gavin williams and tanner bybee when he's on so
02:15i just i think it's a really balanced team that you know is is hitting more than they typically do
02:21and um i think when you look at what they could pop probably add like we've seen them go and
02:25get
02:26the move didn't work but we've seen them go make that lane thomas trade yeah right like alex clemmy
02:30went the other way and that was a year where i think they were feeling themselves a little bit i
02:34why
02:34can't they do something like that again here i just don't know what exactly they need i don't think
02:39the starting pitching needs much i don't think the the bullpen when you're when you're the the
02:45guardians is ever going to need you know and require much so it's probably just some some
02:49right-handed pop because i mean reese hoskins is just not doing it anymore uh for them and fry is
02:54just fine i think just getting a right-handed bat in there maybe a corner outfielder which i feel like
02:59we say about them every single year but that's probably what they need and i think they go do it
03:05so it always feels like we're talking about the best pitching staffs being the healthiest
03:09pitching staffs in baseball and all five guys in that starting rotation williams messick byby
03:16cicconi and cantillo they've all made 17 starts this year they have not had a start come from a
03:22different guy they do not have a singer single pitcher on the big league il they don't have a
03:28starter on the il they don't have a reliever on the il amazing they have been insanely insanely
03:33healthy and i'm not forecasting injury but i will tell you there's some luck involved with that
03:39and that luck can turn at any time it's unfortunate to bring up that at the end of the day
03:44they need
03:45depth because i look at what their triple a situation is right now and if one of those guys
03:50goes down okay you feel decent about logan allen coming back up but after him who's your seventh
03:57starting pitcher austin peterson like ryan webb you know they've got other guys like if franco
04:04aleman has been throwing the crap out of the ball at triple a he's nasty and aleman could absolutely be
04:10in that bullpen so they have bullpen depth but i'm just looking at that starting rotation saying
04:14okay it's good right now but holy smokes is that fragile we could be having a very very different
04:21conversation if somebody tweaks something and that could happen at any given time
