00:00Who's coming over?
00:01Martha, Noah, and his family.
00:02Oh, no.
00:04I know what you're going to say.
00:05You always said we want to go way up north.
00:07No.
00:08Back to where it all began.
00:09Yeah, this is it.
00:10How about are the bugs in the middle of the summer?
00:12Those blue slides, when they bite you,
00:13they take a chunk out of you.
00:14Logistics on this one are going to be the biggest challenge.
00:18Ryan's got a flap.
00:19I need your muscle, Brad.
00:20We're back on the dusty trail.
00:22Hopefully, we'd see some moose through the dust clouds.
00:24Most important thing is always pay attention
00:26and listen to Chase.
00:26Here you hear me.
00:27Hey, bring me a window.
00:30Is anyone going to help?
00:31Oh, hello, sweetie.
00:32We paid for a balcony room.
00:43That's it.
00:44OK.
00:45Follow the stick with your eyes.
00:48Ashley, we're supposed to be cleaning.
00:49I'm trying to hypnotize him into making me more than you.
00:53Oh, it worked.
00:54It worked.
00:55It worked.
00:58What are we doing here?
00:59Who's coming over?
01:00Martha, Noah, and his family.
01:02What side of the family is Noah on again?
01:04Martha is his mother, our father's oldest sister.
01:08Oh, no.
01:10I know what you're going to say.
01:11Oh, no.
01:12What? What's the matter?
01:14No.
01:15Yeah.
01:16What do you mean?
01:16You don't know?
01:17Where does Noah have a place that we stayed at?
01:19Oh, nine mile?
01:22Nine mile.
01:22We've always said we want to go way up north.
01:25No.
01:25Back to where it all began?
01:27Yeah.
01:27This is it.
01:30What's the matter?
01:31I don't know if I'm going to be able to handle being up north with all you guys.
01:36There's no escaping up there either.
01:37And there's no power.
01:39No internet.
01:39Well, they're escaping.
01:40No TV.
01:41No phone service.
01:42They can go for a hike.
01:43Yeah.
01:44You can walk down the road.
01:45Run from black flies.
01:47Yeah.
01:48Nine mile camp is about 30 years old.
01:51We actually went up there for a project.
01:54The first thing we ever did for TV was a pilot called Lost Cabin Hunters.
01:58Dixie, you and Justin go start hauling more materials.
02:02Absolutely.
02:02And Ryan, Jedi, and I will come up with a good plan.
02:05Sorry about it.
02:06We'll hit it hard.
02:07Let's get after it.
02:09Cool.
02:09Let's do it.
02:10So we stayed in Uncle Bruce's camp and worked on another trapper's cabin close by.
02:15Yeah, on the water.
02:16Which was right next to the old camp, the trapper's cabin.
02:19And we all stayed in this camp.
02:20All together.
02:21One big room.
02:22You following on this?
02:23I know we left a time capsule.
02:24It'll be exciting to see if it's still there.
02:26Roll the footage.
02:27We got a little time capsule we're going to do.
02:30All right.
02:31Last piece.
02:32Let's hope it's there for another 100 years.
02:35100 years.
02:37It was an adventure, to say the least.
02:39Nice job.
02:40Good job, guys.
02:41Out of here.
02:46Noah's got a family now.
02:47They use the camp all the time.
02:49Tons of family use the place.
02:50So we'll see what Noah and the family are looking for.
02:53Hey, guys.
02:53Good morning.
02:54Good morning.
02:55Good morning.
02:56We made it.
02:57I'm Martha.
02:58I'm Chase and Ashley's aunt.
03:00What's up?
03:00Good to see you.
03:01Hi.
03:02Nice to see you.
03:03I'm Noah.
03:04Good to see you.
03:05And Chase and Ashley are my cousin.
03:07It's been a few years since we've been up there.
03:09I'm sure the list is fairly long.
03:11What are you looking to have done to the camp?
03:13I think the biggest things would be safety first, the little deck up on the second floor.
03:18The cedar board is starting to get rotten and squishy.
03:21The railing is not super secure.
03:22Make sure that's safe for the kids.
03:24Sleeping arrangements upstairs as well.
03:26Right now it's a big open space, so maybe creating some bunk beds for these guys, some partitions,
03:33and some additional seating on the inside of the camp.
03:37Countertops have fallen apart.
03:39The bathroom is in need.
03:42The siding is starting to degrade.
03:43The stairs out back need an overhaul.
03:46And seating around the fire, the privy out back needs an overhaul.
03:50That might be the first thing we do.
03:52Get a good bathroom going.
03:54We'll see.
03:55Priorities are different for everybody.
03:57That's a moral thing.
03:57For sure.
03:58Is there anything else you want to see done to it?
04:01You know, I would like to see a safe spot for the boys when they use their bow and arrow,
04:07just like a little area to do some target practicing.
04:11Let's take us back to our rooms.
04:12Yeah, I think logistics on this one are going to be the biggest challenge.
04:17It's at least a six-hour drive to get there.
04:20Yeah.
04:20How close is the nearest town, hardware store, anything?
04:25Self-serve.
04:26Yeah.
04:27Power.
04:27I would say four hours.
04:29Well, three hours, actually.
04:30Three or four.
04:31Three or four.
04:32Three hours one way.
04:33I know who's got the lead foot.
04:34I've got the four hours.
04:36I can cut it pretty quick.
04:39Four hours to the nearest town, six hours from here.
04:41Correct.
04:42And that's dirt roads.
04:44Majority.
04:45Yes.
04:45It's pretty isolated.
04:47We're going to have to make one log convoy so that if somebody does get a flat tire,
04:51which sounds like it's very common.
04:53And depending on the day that you go in, it is the North Main Woods.
04:59It's a working area.
05:01There are going to be logging trucks that you're going to have to be very careful of.
05:05So we don't want to forget anything.
05:06We don't want to forget anything.
05:07I think the best option is probably to bring as many of the crew as we can.
05:11All the supplies.
05:12All our food.
05:13We've got to make sure that we're prepared with multiple spare tires and the tools to be self-sufficient.
05:18You're going in there outfitting for an adventure.
05:20Yeah.
05:20We have to go up there and get measurements and everything.
05:22How's that going to work?
05:22Well, Noah goes up regularly.
05:24Yeah.
05:24I'm going up on Thursday for a canoe trip.
05:26So we'll measure every nook and cranny.
05:28Chase is going to give you some homework then, right?
05:29Yeah.
05:29The more we can pre-build prefab down here, the more efficient we're going to be up there.
05:33I think we're going to have to set the timeline on this one.
05:38I think we can probably steal away for two weeks in the middle of summer when it's our busiest time
05:43of the year,
05:44and we'll get done as much as we possibly can.
05:47How much do you have for the renovations on the camp?
05:50$40,000?
05:51Is there a family discount?
05:54You know there is.
05:57How about are the bugs in the middle of the summer?
05:59Moose flies.
06:00Yeah.
06:00That's bigger than a horse fly.
06:01Those blue slides, when they bite you, they take a chunk out of you.
06:04All right.
06:05So we've got a budget.
06:06We've got a time frame.
06:07You're getting us measurements.
06:09I think we just need a set of keys.
06:12Yay!
06:12There's the key.
06:14Excellent.
06:15And a pencil.
06:16All right.
06:17Without the Maine Cabin Masters, we could never even dream of doing something like this.
06:21They understand the complexity of living in the North Maine woods while you're working.
06:26We'll walk you out.
06:27We've got to go get ready.
06:27We've got to pack those trucks.
06:28And their willingness to go up and to stake out and to invest.
06:33I don't think anybody else would do it.
06:35It's a spot that we love.
06:36It's a very unique geographic area.
06:38It's wild.
06:39It's rugged country.
06:40I love to take the boys up and explore and just being together unplugged.
06:45It's really what it's all about.
06:46Check it.
06:47You're coming to the great North woods?
06:48Oh, okay.
06:59So today, we are packing up and ready to convoy north to Noah's camp up in Nine Mile.
07:12Oh, my gosh.
07:13Are you excited?
07:14This is your first time today, Al Gash.
07:15Oh, yeah.
07:16I don't know if Gussie ever went.
07:18My biggest concerns today are flat tires getting lost.
07:22And we're going to have to watch out for logging trucks.
07:24It's going to turn on the ticket.
07:26I don't know what I think.
07:27Are you ready to be my roommate?
07:29No.
07:29That's true.
07:30Our next stop will be Mile 6 Checkpoint.
07:34It's a gate that lets us into the North Bain woods.
07:37We'll all register, sign in, and then it's all dirt roads and out of communication from
07:41there.
07:41All right, everybody.
07:42Wheels up.
07:43Next stop, 6 Mile Checkpoint.
07:45Nine Mile, baby.
07:47So I'm super excited to get up to Nine Mile.
07:49The guys have been talking about the project that they first did, the Trapper's Cabin.
07:53I've never seen it.
07:54I also heard that there's a time capsule.
07:56So, yeah, I'm excited.
07:57Let's go.
07:59We've made it through Ashland.
08:01We've reached the Mile 6 Checkpoint.
08:03Three and a half hours here.
08:05Another three and a half hours in.
08:07Four hours.
08:07Yeah.
08:08Three and a half.
08:09Awesome.
08:10We've just got to try and stick together the best we can in case somebody pops a tire.
08:13Hey, I just want you guys to be careful out there because today, very high temperatures.
08:19Breaker, breaker, Matty.
08:21This here is the pig pen, over and out, bringing up the rear.
08:25A little update here on the old nine mile convoy.
08:28Um, we are officially six hours into the trip.
08:33Been nothing but dirt roads for the last hour or better.
08:35And I think we've got about another hour, hour and a half to go.
08:39No issues yet.
08:40Knock on wood.
08:41I'm making our way to nine mile.
08:47Oh, I got one.
08:49No, you didn't.
08:50Yeah.
08:50No, no, no, no, no.
08:51He's freaking out.
08:52Ryan's got a flat.
08:58Ryan's got a flat.
09:00Literally when I stopped, I heard a hiss.
09:02How do you fix a flat?
09:03It's called a plug kit.
09:04You have a plug kit?
09:05You don't.
09:06You don't.
09:06Should we pour some water on my tires and see if any of your hissing?
09:08No, no, no.
09:09Who's the fastest to plug a tire?
09:12Brad's reaming out the hole.
09:13And then you take this little thing, thread it through here.
09:16Now, he's taking the plug, driving it in, and he twists it.
09:21Come on, Brad.
09:23Yes!
09:23Got it.
09:279 a.m., we were right about here.
09:30And then about 1.30, we were here, which is a six-mile checkpoint to the North Woods.
09:38And now we're right about here.
09:40And we still got about an hour to go to get to here.
09:45We just dealt with issue number one, flat tire, about 20 minutes, half an hour there.
09:51We've got everything taken care of.
09:52We're back on the dusty trail.
09:54We've got a little bit of rain coming in right now.
09:56So hopefully that's going to cut down the dust, make this travel a little easier,
10:00and allow us to see some moose through the dust clouds.
10:10We're here.
10:11We've got flat tires.
10:12A couple guys got lost.
10:13There are a lot of moving parts.
10:15And we're ready to get started.
10:17We're back.
10:18Morning!
10:19We've got a full crew working today.
10:20The crew is getting done.
10:21We have a very full crew.
10:21You're always as good as your crew.
10:22They found it before we did.
10:24See, it's a little out of level, so it needs to be jacked, leveled up, getting new siding.
10:28That window there is getting replaced.
10:30That deck on the side, second floor is getting replaced.
10:32Hopefully the door is getting replaced.
10:35Window on the second floor, gabled end on the other side, getting replaced.
10:39All new log profile siding.
10:41All needs to be painted and stained.
10:42Guys are digging the new hole for the outhouse.
10:46We need to get that dug.
10:47This is the entire outhouse right here.
10:49It just needs to be reassembled.
10:50It was all pre-built at back 40.
10:53Can we go inside?
10:54Sure.
10:55She's excited.
10:56Noah and his family are looking to get the camp jacked, leveled, new siding,
11:01replace some bad windows where the seals are gone, replace a door that's rotted,
11:06and new deck and new outhouse.
11:09Oh, yeah.
11:10Oh, yeah.
11:11The memories.
11:12What?
11:13I remember this place.
11:14I've been here a couple times.
11:15Twelve years ago, the guys all came up here and shot a pilot.
11:18A pilot I wasn't a part of and didn't get picked up.
11:21It's called Lost Cabin Hunters.
11:22Well, then Chase said, I do have a sister, and she does do design.
11:27And he asked me, and I joined the team.
11:30We made another pilot, and guess what got picked up?
11:33So what's the plan in here?
11:34Plan in here is replace this window.
11:38Kitchen, we brought up countertops.
11:40We need to redo this kitchen.
11:41A little more privacy in the bathroom space.
11:46This door needs to be replaced.
11:48New deck off the back.
11:49And then upstairs.
11:51Upstairs is the best part when we all get to sleep together in one big room.
11:54So this window here is original to the camp.
11:58Yeah.
12:00Plexiglass.
12:00Plexiglass.
12:01Looks like the plexiglass wasn't quite big enough.
12:04Oh, yeah.
12:05Remember all the beds were like bed, bed, bed, bed, bed, bed, bed.
12:11In the inside of Noah's cabin, our plan is to replace the picture window,
12:14replace and repair the two doors, update the kitchen, update the bathroom,
12:18replace the windows upstairs, replace the slider door upstairs,
12:22and build bunk beds for the family.
12:24Low ceilings, you know, it's a gambrel.
12:26So we have to kind of figure out what's going to work for bunk beds up here.
12:30But I think we can come up with a good design.
12:31It's all about giving a little bit of privacy so it's not just army barracks.
12:34And then you have a wall, and then you can have a little bit of space.
12:37You can have a little bench here.
12:38Chase was saying if we have leftover materials, we might be able to make bunk beds with partitions.
12:43So each individual pod could have its own, like, little bench and coat rack.
12:48Wow, that stuff is wicked brittle.
12:50Yes, all this can come over.
12:51We can get prepped and ready for jacking and leveling.
12:55That can get disassembled.
12:56Bring pucks or anything to set this on?
12:58Or what are we doing that way?
13:00We'll have to get some gravel, some whatever we can to fill in around it.
13:06And then we can start digging a cesspit.
13:11Yeah, so able to drag the old gas shed out of the way where the new outhouse is going to
13:17go.
13:18Refabricated everything for the outhouse down in Monmouth.
13:21So we got the crib work, everything all cut.
13:23Next step is to go grab some gravel and bring it back to fill in.
13:35Yep, chase it. Set to the right.
13:39All right, don't start dropping it now.
13:41Here up at Nine Mile, we are at the shale pile.
13:44We've got to build up around the outhouse.
13:46This is going just on the bottom of the outhouse?
13:49Yeah.
13:50It might be a couple trips, huh?
13:52It might be.
13:52There's a lot of these shale piles all throughout the roads up here.
13:57That's what they kind of pass and fill in the roads with.
13:59So we've got permission to get some shale from here to cover up around the outside of the outhouse.
14:07What's it supposed to be this and slate?
14:09Softer.
14:10Are they related?
14:11They're all related. They're rocks.
14:21Am I good?
14:22Yeah.
14:23Keep going?
14:24Yes.
14:25I am going to get most improved back or upper over the course of this little gig we've been on.
14:29Ryan.
14:32Pull forward and then we'll try and cut it in tighter if possible.
14:36The most important thing is always pay attention and listen to Chase.
14:38So I'll be back.
14:40Cut it hard.
14:42Cut it real hard.
14:43Guide me, brother-in-law.
14:45Wicked hard.
14:46Yep.
14:47Don't get no harder than that.
14:48Too hard, too hard.
14:49Stop, stop.
14:50I'm going to keep my mouth shut.
14:57Oh, stop, stop.
14:58So the guy's got the hole all dug, the basin all built, the shale that we just went and put
15:02into the trailer.
15:03We're going to back that in.
15:04We're going to backfill this whole toilet housing right here and hopefully get it closed in sooner than later.
15:11Then we can start building the shack.
15:12Once more.
15:13Once more and we're there.
15:15Cut it again right now.
15:17That's good.
15:18Yup.
15:19Back of the trailer sucks.
15:20Years of practice.
15:22Years of practice and a lot of luck.
15:24Make a big circle right there and we'll go swoop right into there.
15:28We got the hole dug and, you know, we knew we were only going to be able to go in
15:31about 18 inches deep, but we needed about a 36 inch deep pit.
15:36So we need to do backfill up around it.
15:38Francis brought his dump trailer.
15:39Can't really haul heavy machinery in here.
15:42Ready?
15:42Yep.
15:44I wouldn't want to get rid of any of this.
15:46I mean, we'll try and put, we'll use as much as possible.
15:50Yeah.
15:51You know, definitely where it's all signed.
15:54Yeah.
15:55Through the years.
15:56I mean, it goes back to 1990.
15:58Yeah.
15:59So we're going to save all of this.
16:01This is, you know, pretty important.
16:04It goes back to the 90s.
16:06Different people that have come to stay with Noah and the family have written all over the place.
16:13So they kind of want to save that.
16:15So we're going to be just very careful trying to take this apart.
16:18It's probably 33 by 86.
16:22We'll take a look at it.
16:24See what we're up against.
16:25Yeah.
16:31Now go give it a little pushy.
16:33From the top?
16:34Yeah, from the top.
16:36Don't break it.
16:38There you go, Hunter.
16:40Just push, Ashley.
16:41Right outside.
16:43Somewhere.
16:43I'm going to help you grab it here.
16:47You got it, Benny?
16:48You need a hand?
16:49Benny's a tough little bird.
16:50The old double pane.
16:52I'd say somewhere way out of the way.
16:54The pane of glass came out pretty easy.
16:57Now it's just a matter of dropping our sill, padding the opening a little bit, and installing
17:02the window.
17:03When you put this on, he's going to walk around and it moves because the horse flies are bugging
17:08him.
17:08So now the horse flies think there's a dragonfly on top of him.
17:11Come here.
17:12He might need something else on.
17:14He might need a hard...
17:14Oh, look.
17:15See?
17:15He's not going to get any dragonflies.
17:17I mean any horse flies because that...
17:18The horse flies?
17:20Oh!
17:21I hope you don't get any.
17:22Let me know.
17:23The horse flies aren't going to come around me because they're afraid of this dragonfly.
17:27Where is it?
17:28Where do you walk around and then all the horse flies are going to stay away from you.
17:32See if it works.
17:34So I'm just going to fly on out of here without any horse flies.
17:40I'm ready to receive the window.
17:43Hear ye hear me.
17:44Bring me a window.
17:46Today we're going to help.
17:47We've got to bend that flange too.
17:49Somebody else can hear it helping me.
17:51Okay, pick it way up.
17:53Tip the top to me.
17:54Hear ye hear me.
17:55Francis, top back.
17:58Coming on in.
17:59Watch out your hand, Francis.
18:01Beautiful.
18:03Just like that.
18:04There we go.
18:05Kitty cat.
18:06Just like that.
18:07Ashley, make sure it's centered.
18:08It's totes centered.
18:11That cook of ours, Francis, he's been in the middle of everything.
18:14Very impressive.
18:17We've got the pit dug, cribbing work in, back filled with all the shale and topsoil.
18:21Next step is to set the platform, post it up, get ready for the walls and roof.
18:26One hole is bigger than the other.
18:29Hey, it takes all sizes.
18:31No, no, no, no, no, no.
18:33Back to back.
18:35Oh.
18:36Oh, it is an oval.
18:37Oh, that's why.
18:38Hold hands.
18:40Just lean back.
18:42This wouldn't be awkward at all.
18:45Can you hand me some paper?
18:46Is there a divino one?
18:47Thanks.
18:48No.
18:48Just like this.
18:50Chase had to try it out.
18:51They even beveled the edges of the seat.
18:53And there's going to be a seat on top of that.
18:54They're thinking of everything.
18:57So those of us that are staying at this camp, Francis is cooking us breakfast, lunch and
19:01dinner.
19:02And then the rest of the crew is down at another campsite playing games.
19:06They're fishing.
19:07They're canoeing.
19:08So they are bonding and having a great time down there.
19:11So it's really just a cool bonding trip for all of us.
19:17Hi, everybody.
19:18What up, Ash?
19:19We.
19:21Are these deceiving?
19:22They're not.
19:23Day two up to nine mile.
19:25Our goal today is to get the lattice on, get the house built, get some trim up, get some
19:31siding on, get the upstairs deck built and just keep everything moving along.
19:37We're getting ready to rip this deck off.
19:38We've got to replace this deck.
19:40We've got to replace that door as well.
19:41So we want to get everything torn out of there so we can get it opened up and see what
19:45we actually need for this new door and new deck.
19:48So, yeah, we've got the rafters all cut.
19:50Stringers are ready to come down.
19:52We're going to give it a tug.
19:53It's going to slam right down there about eight, ten feet away from the building.
20:02Paul Hatchby!
20:04We paid for a balcony room.
20:07You better have this done by tonight, okay?
20:13Paul Hatchby!
20:15Woo-hoo!
20:15Nice job, gentlemen.
20:17Day two.
20:18Everybody showed up.
20:19Brides go.
20:19Everybody had a good night's sleep.
20:21We are having peaches for breakfast.
20:23Peaches.
20:24Peach.
20:25Peach.
20:26Brad and Schmidt are ripping off the second floor deck.
20:29That's getting rebuilt.
20:31Once that's up and secured, then we will take out that upstairs slider and replace that.
20:38Oh!
20:39Dixie, what are you doing?
20:39So in order to install the siding, we need to have the skirting done and window trim and
20:44corner boards done.
20:45So I'm working on window trim and corner boards.
20:48Cool.
20:50We got the platform set yesterday for the outhouse, so today it was just setting the walls,
20:54getting everything secured.
20:58Got it.
20:59Whack-a-mole.
21:01I mean, it was prefab, so the walls go up pretty quick.
21:03One, two.
21:05Whoa!
21:06We just kept going.
21:08Got the walls all assembled.
21:09Oh, baby!
21:10Oh, baby!
21:12We need to put the rafters on.
21:13We didn't pre-build the roof, so we need to put the rafters up, sheath it over, roof it
21:17together, get the doors on, windows in, trimmed out.
21:20It's still early, but everybody's motivated.
21:23It hurts.
21:24Ow, that does hurt.
21:25Okay.
21:27Back to work.
21:29Screen door?
21:29Screen door time.
21:31Whoa.
21:32So your brother said it's perfectly good and we're going to keep it.
21:34I kind of agree with him.
21:36Yeah, it's perfectly good.
21:36Let's keep it.
21:37But let's make it look different.
21:38I think we pop off this, because this obviously had a screen on the bottom of dogs and people
21:42kicking it.
21:43We can't just sand this down.
21:44No.
21:45So I'll pop this off.
21:46We'll put new wood on the inside of this square and then hold the wood and I'll trim out both
21:49sides.
21:51So I'll pop this off, we'll paint it green.
21:52Wait, I wasn't paying attention.
21:53What are you talking about?
21:54This and this off.
21:54Let's just do it, watch.
21:56I'll do it.
21:56And then we'll put new wood on the inside and I'll picture frame it to hold it in on both
22:00sides and then we'll stick.
22:02This will be green.
22:03That'll be the state.
22:04So what part of this project is mine?
22:05Painting a beautiful skull and crossbones on there.
22:09Anyway, is it coming up?
22:10Yeah.
22:11Is that one?
22:11Whoa, it's coming up from the other side.
22:13Don't worry.
22:13We're keeping the screen doors?
22:15Yeah, we're gonna fix it up a little bit.
22:17We're fixing this, Brad.
22:18Did you bring new screen doors?
22:20The one upstairs in your guys' room is rough.
22:22Our room.
22:23We'll fix that one up too.
22:24Our room.
22:25That's the suite.
22:26I had to move our bed today so that we could be there.
22:27We are gonna have a new deck.
22:29Can I have my coffee on that deck tomorrow morning?
22:32Yeah.
22:33Yes.
22:33Don't tell too many people they're gonna wanna move in.
22:36Cool.
22:38Are you gonna take off the other side too?
22:40Did the other side need taken offing?
22:42One side at a time.
22:43The other side might be okay though.
22:45It might not have hit the elements.
22:46Is this the outside?
22:47Okay, we'll just do this side.
22:48That's perfect.
22:48I like it.
22:49Ryan took out the screen door and told me that he was fixing it.
22:52He came up with this idea that we should paint our logo on the new wood.
22:58Cut out some new pieces.
23:00We stained them the color of the siding.
23:02Sarah and Ashley got this painted.
23:03Sarah's helped me just figure out how I'm gonna trim out the inlay board we're gonna put.
23:07And then we'll flip it, paint it, inlay it.
23:09No, it's off the ashing.
23:14Now that Ryan has fixed the door, Sarah put a fresh coat of paint on it.
23:19And we have this new panel here.
23:21I am going to draw out and paint our company logo on here.
23:25Ryan cut out some new pieces so then we put them onto the door and glued them down and just
23:29had to wait for them to dry.
23:30I don't think you need a sandbag.
23:31I need another sandbag.
23:33Okay, but it's popping it up on the other side.
23:35Ryan's level of bossiness is right about here right now.
23:38I'd like it to be right about here.
23:39Can we have more of the clamps here, will you please?
23:42Ask the guys.
23:45Again.
23:46Please ask the other guys.
23:47This stuff is super fast.
23:50There's no sense of urgency with her.
23:51Stay tuned.
23:53Her urgency level's here and needs to be a little more up here.
23:56So we should just meet in the middle somewhere.
23:58There's all there, clamped.
23:59My urgency level, I mean, it's not really that high, but I really didn't have a whole lot to do
24:04today and I was looking forward to doing this project.
24:06I'll be back door.
24:08Yeah.
24:08Well, we'll set it for half an hour or so.
24:11It's gonna be worth the wait.
24:12Please.
24:13Please.
24:13Ryan's nicest compassion level is a little low today.
24:16So the glue's dry, we hope.
24:19Ryan will kill me if it's not.
24:21But I want to get working on this.
24:23Everybody's kind of getting pulled in all kinds of different directions with all these different projects going on.
24:26So you take whoever you can get.
24:28Someone walks by and wants to help me?
24:29Sure.
24:29How's this going?
24:30Hey!
24:31What are you doing?
24:31Apparently I took the weights off a little too soon.
24:36My fault.
24:37I did it.
24:38I did it.
24:38I did it.
24:39Why?
24:43It's not funny.
24:45Because I'm trying to explain to you what's happening.
24:47Constant bickering, constant bickering.
24:50His frustration comes with me because I wasn't patient.
24:53This is coming from Mr. Impatient himself.
24:55So, yeah, come on.
24:57If the most impatient person within 200 miles asks you to wait, you might want to listen.
25:04Air got in it.
25:05No air got in it.
25:06I did go back and apologize.
25:07We came to the conclusion that we were going to let it sit overnight and it will really set.
25:12It will be ready for me to get to it tomorrow morning.
25:18I'm going to start right here.
25:19Pressure really was to get that outhouse done because we needed a working outhouse on site.
25:26Right now we've got the outhouse roof all sheathed up.
25:29Got our ice and water shield on it.
25:30Got it closed right in.
25:31Now we're putting our metal panels down.
25:33Once we get our metal panels, we're going to run our rake pieces and the roof is done, man.
25:41Nice work today.
25:42Deck looks great.
25:43Siding looks awesome.
25:45You know what looks the best?
25:46Straight forward from here.
25:47The outhouse.
25:48Best it's ever going to look.
25:49That is adorable.
25:54Morning number three.
25:55Everybody's hustling.
25:56Justin's getting paper up.
25:58Hunter's got the deck going on.
26:00Benny and the staining crew's moving stuff around.
26:03Ry's ripping up a bunch of trim.
26:05Sarah's cutting trim.
26:07We're getting ready to side this backside and walk away.
26:10So the big jobs today are taking out the old slider door on the second floor,
26:14getting the new slider up on the deck and installing that slider,
26:18installing the gable end windows on the opposite end, and getting the siding done on all four sides.
26:24Gosh, this window's in bad, bad shape.
26:26Oh, we got to take it apart.
26:28So this window has been broken at some point and then broken again.
26:33Instead of one large picture window, we're going to try and put in three individual windows just to make life
26:39a little easier.
26:39It's been great working with Fletcher.
26:41He leaves tomorrow.
26:42I remember working up here with my father, with my grandfather.
26:46So it's great that he's had an opportunity to do that, too.
26:53How's your day going?
26:54Oh, you match the extension cord, too.
26:56You're so stylish.
26:57What we're going to do is we'll leave those handles on.
27:01I'll put two tie ropes up to you guys.
27:05We'll push up, and then two guys will pull it up, and then we'll just come up and over like
27:09we just did.
27:10No, I would not take it apart.
27:12So getting the new door up, we decided that it would be best not to disassemble the panels off from
27:18the sliding door,
27:18but to bring it up as one unit.
27:21Hold up.
27:22Yeah.
27:22Okay.
27:23Now hold on.
27:24Hold on.
27:26You on it, Schmidt?
27:28What we did was we brought the door over to where the ladders were, leaned it up against the ladder,
27:33wrapped two ropes around it.
27:35We had three guys up in the balcony.
27:37Just be easy when you tip it.
27:41It went up with ease.
27:43Holy gee.
27:45Classic example right there of many hands making light work.
27:48Get it straight into the door.
27:51So things are looking good.
27:53Fletcher and I just got the windows on the gable den installed.
27:56These guys are working on the trim to get ready for siding.
27:59Slider door went in.
28:00Back deck went in.
28:02Looks like we're getting some rain soon, so we're trying to get everything wrapped up so we can close it
28:06in as quickly as possible.
28:07So now we're going to take off the clamps and pray that it is sealed.
28:13I get to work beside Dixie.
28:14This is the best part of the day.
28:16Now I am just going to trace this out real fast, and then I'm going to paint it with the
28:21green paint.
28:21It's not going to be that easy.
28:22Just go for it.
28:29Looks good, Ash.
28:31Thanks.
28:32Looks really good.
28:33I like it.
28:33I just had to say, let's just go for it, right?
28:36Nothing to it but to do it.
28:37Nothing to it but to do it, right?
28:41I see the glue's all dry now.
28:43Yeah, right?
28:43The glue is dry.
28:44It has dried nicely.
28:47Must we bring that up again?
28:49Lesson learned.
28:50You know what the lesson is?
28:51Don't work with your husband.
28:56There he is.
28:57Brian came over and helped me with the finishing pieces.
29:01Love it.
29:02Which was to put the picture frame trim around the panel.
29:06That wind is feeding the bugs away.
29:07I don't even need any of my contractions today.
29:09Jason Fletcher installed it for me.
29:11We did it, guys.
29:13It's official.
29:14Official.
29:15Woo-hoo!
29:17Good job.
29:18Good job, everybody.
29:19Thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks.
29:20Good job.
29:21On to the next project.
29:27We're halfway through day three, tidied up stuff.
29:30Because, I mean, it looks like rain, feels like rain.
29:33So that means it's coming.
29:34So I think it's starting to feel awful windy up here.
29:36Oh, wow.
29:37I see right there.
29:38Gotta go check the tents, make sure we don't get blown away.
29:48It's a rainy end to the week.
29:50We can't stop for the rain.
29:51Our goal is to get the stairs for the back deck built,
29:55get the two gable ends sided,
29:56and then it's a good stopping point for the weekend.
30:00We knew yesterday that the rain was coming.
30:02We got lucky.
30:03We got almost a full day in yesterday.
30:05It's humid out, too, so you put a rain gear on,
30:06so you're sweating underneath, so you're getting wet regardless.
30:09So do you want to get wet by the rain,
30:10or do you want to get wet from sweat?
30:11And then you have man glitter everywhere,
30:13so it's just going to get dirty and disgusting.
30:15Biggest thing is just keep a good attitude,
30:17and when we get done, we'll clean all our tools off nice
30:19and let them dry.
30:19I mean, there's enough of us.
30:20We should be able to have a bunch of people on both sides.
30:23I'm going to just go for it.
30:25Oh, it's so much better.
30:28Woo!
30:30It's pouring out here,
30:31so Trigger and Fletcher and I are going to find a nice inside project to do.
30:36Come on, Triggs.
30:37Get out of the rain.
30:38I got some brushes.
30:39You found us an indoor project.
30:42My hero.
30:44What are we doing?
30:45A polyurethane window.
30:48This?
30:49Yeah, that is the window.
30:52That's a window?
30:54It's a window?
30:55Can you get close to the window?
30:57Every time I work with the kids, it's a lot of fun.
30:59And usually it's doing a special project with me.
31:01It's not doing the building.
31:02And so to have Fletcher here and actually working and actually doing real work, it's pretty cool to see.
31:08You're leaving us today.
31:10You're moving on.
31:12You're moving up in the world.
31:13How was your first week with the Cabin Masters?
31:15Pretty great.
31:16I had a great time.
31:17What was your favorite part you'd say?
31:19Hanging out with me?
31:21What?
31:21He worked really, really hard.
31:23I would say as hard as the rest of the guys.
31:25And he has officially graduated from mini master to a regular master.
31:31All right.
31:31This is done.
31:32We'll let this dry, see if we need another coat.
31:34But I know.
31:36Good job.
31:37Soft raining.
31:37We got the inside job done.
31:39Now we can stay dry.
31:40All right.
31:40Sick.
31:41Thanks, kid.
31:44I guess the goal of the week was to get the exterior wrapped up.
31:49And yesterday afternoon, we were pretty close.
31:52We still had to finish the siding on both gabled ends and finish the back deck and stairs.
31:56So today, we just split into two teams.
32:00Three teams.
32:00Four teams.
32:01But we were all one big team.
32:02And we busted it out.
32:08Awesome.
32:09Last board.
32:10Chase.
32:11Last board.
32:12Last board.
32:13Hunter.
32:13Last board.
32:15Dixie.
32:15Last board.
32:17I feel like we are definitely learning something by everybody being here and getting things
32:21done.
32:22All right.
32:22Last board.
32:23Justin.
32:23Last board.
32:24Steve.
32:25Last board.
32:26I think that we are busting this out fast.
32:29And it's fun to have everybody around.
32:31Hang on.
32:31We have one more thing we want to do.
32:32And then you can take off for the weekend.
32:34We wanted to honor Fletcher's graduation.
32:36So I made a little diploma and asked all the crew if they would sign it.
32:45I gotta walk slow.
32:47You guys have short legs.
32:48This is a ceremony.
32:50You know, Fletcher in a long line of mini masters coming up.
32:54We sat with Brad and then Schmitty and, you know, now Fletcher.
32:57And I just thought we had to put a little pomp and circumstance in it.
33:00We didn't do a very good job marching, but people got the idea.
33:04Fletcher, could you please come forward?
33:05Drum roll, please.
33:07What?
33:07Fletcher.
33:08Please come forward.
33:08Please step forward.
33:09Fletcher, coming forward.
33:11Can you put on your gown?
33:12Uh-huh.
33:15Yes.
33:16Let me place the cap on you.
33:19When we clap, you can flick your tassels.
33:23Okay.
33:23Chase.
33:24Fletcher, you've been a mini master since day one.
33:27You've been with us from the very beginning.
33:29One.
33:30Two.
33:32Three.
33:33Fletcher Ram.
33:34Let's have a batter and ram.
33:36Yeah.
33:38Do I have to listen to his teenager attitude all day?
33:41Yeah.
33:42After this trip, I think we all agree that you have graduated from a mini master to a true cabin
33:48master.
33:54We're all very proud of you and you work very hard.
33:57And we'll miss you next week.
33:59We'll miss you next week.
34:00Hopefully, Ashley will build a frame for that diploma and he can put it over his desk someday.
34:04When Brad and Smitty come in for directions for the week.
34:07Here, let's get a picture.
34:08Good job, Fletcher.
34:10Seeing Fletcher with a nail gun in his hand and seeing his work ethic.
34:13And then coming up here and seeing him for a week with us, it's really awesome.
34:15Turn your tassel.
34:17Not too hard.
34:18Don't poke your eye out.
34:19Yay!
34:23I mean, I like working vacations.
34:25Whenever we would come up here, it was always with my father or family.
34:28And this is always what it was.
34:30It was a project that had to be done.
34:32And all the family would get together and get it done.
34:34Yay!
34:35Right down the line.
34:36For he's a jolly good fellow.
34:38For he's a jolly good fellow.
34:41For he's a jolly good fellow.
34:42For he's a jolly good fellow.
34:44Get back to work.
34:53Go down this way.
34:55Camille's cabin.
34:56It's about another 100 yards, 200 yards down.
34:58A lot happened this first week.
35:00It was very exciting.
35:01A lot going on.
35:02After the excitement of Fletcher's graduation, I realized it was the perfect time to head back to where it all
35:06began.
35:07And take the team to Camille's Trapper's cabin, the site of our first project together.
35:12And hopefully, the time capsule we buried over a decade ago is still there.
35:16First time you came in, this was all snow?
35:17It was all snow.
35:19Crazy to be back here.
35:20And we had one sled break, so we were down three.
35:23Oh, look at it.
35:24Look at it.
35:25Look at the roof.
35:26Look at the roof.
35:26It's so small.
35:28It is tiny.
35:29I remember it being a little bit bigger than that.
35:32I remember it being a lot bigger than that.
35:33Did you guys have power tools?
35:34You guys did all this?
35:35With hand tools.
35:36With hand tools.
35:36But we ripped off the entire roof.
35:38We had to replace some upper logs.
35:40It had a dormer on the back.
35:42Ready?
35:45Nice!
35:46We didn't really know what we were doing.
35:48No.
35:48We hadn't worked with each other for very long.
35:50No.
35:50Look at us.
35:51I had to fight with Chase to put roof trim on it.
35:54Out of your dick today!
35:57You can throw your back.
35:58Hey, ho!
35:59See what happens when you hug?
36:01Come on, buddy.
36:01Get out.
36:02All right.
36:02All right.
36:02All right.
36:05I was still doing that sometimes.
36:07Some things will never change.
36:09So it was 11 years ago or 10 years?
36:112015.
36:12All right.
36:13Last piece.
36:15Let's hope it's there for another 100 years.
36:17100 years.
36:20Yeah.
36:21All right.
36:24That's it.
36:25Let's check it out.
36:26Let's go take a peek.
36:28After you guys know the way.
36:29So the cabin was truly a trapper's cabin.
36:32It was built by Camille Bollier.
36:33He lived in it.
36:34He would have trap lines all around the St. John Valley.
36:37And now it is maintained by the Nature Conservancy for people who are canoeing the St. John to stay in.
36:44Yeah, let's find that time capsule.
36:48Oh, look at that.
36:50Looks great.
36:51You guys made this door?
36:52We did.
36:53That held up nice.
36:54It's good.
36:55Nice door.
36:55Oh, she's small.
36:56All of us.
36:57How many of you?
36:58Six?
36:59Six of us slept in here.
37:00You.
37:01Four.
37:02Justin in Wildville.
37:03Yeah.
37:04Yeah.
37:04They all, six of them, slept in that tiny little cabin.
37:07I think I'd stay in there one night, and I think I'd probably be done.
37:11Trying to go to bed?
37:12Yeah.
37:13Yeah.
37:13All right.
37:16Good night, Grandpa.
37:18So where did you put the time capsule?
37:19It was in the floor.
37:20There was a hatch.
37:21There was a hatch.
37:23There you go.
37:24Sweet.
37:24There it is.
37:25It's in there.
37:26Yep.
37:28There's one on the porch to where we can all see it.
37:30I'll pretend I'm Wild Bill.
37:32I'll post up right where I was.
37:34That's where Wild Bill was, right?
37:36Yep.
37:36How was he sitting?
37:38I think just like that.
37:40Enjoy.
37:41What's in your capsule, boys?
37:43I don't remember.
37:44I don't either.
37:45What do you got?
37:47Pictures.
37:48Feels like photos.
37:49It was really neat to open the time capsule because we had forgot what we put in there.
37:52Very special picture of Bill, which, you know, brought a tear to our eyes.
37:55Lost Bill since then, but it also put a smile on our face.
37:592013's hunting license, Matthew Dix.
38:01Really?
38:03Canterbeck Property Services.
38:06At your needs.
38:07We found Dixie's old hunting licenses, Chase's old business card, newspaper, and some really cool pictures.
38:14Since I wasn't here to add anything, maybe I could leave my dragonfly.
38:17That'd be cool.
38:18Fly away.
38:19The only thing I have in my pocket is a Phillips head screw bit.
38:21I'm going to leave that.
38:22All right.
38:22What if we should leave Trigger's collar?
38:25There you go.
38:26We can because I have got the same exact one back at camp.
38:29Do you?
38:30Yeah.
38:30Oh, yeah.
38:31Good boy.
38:31You're leaving your mark, too.
38:33Honestly, we thought, you know, this would be a fun experience.
38:36I don't think any of us saw it going anywhere past this first project.
38:42Zip tie, Dixie.
38:43There you go.
38:44You never know.
38:45You never know.
38:46Chase.
38:46I'm almost done.
38:48It's harder than it looks.
38:49To carve an eminent scene enough.
38:50I've seen guys carve whole scenes out of pencils.
38:54Carve on rice.
38:55We just got looked.
38:56Never in a million years would we have thought we'd be where we are today.
39:00Because, you know, it all started with that one cabin.
39:02Not 2026.
39:03Close enough.
39:04We got him riled up.
39:06Yeah, you're fine.
39:07It will be soon enough.
39:08Okay, I'll put this back.
39:09Put that back in.
39:10Let's go.
39:11You know, Fletcher graduating.
39:13The chapter's cabin.
39:14Opening the time capsule.
39:15I'm just really excited for what's in store for next week.
39:17Let's head back to camp.
39:18All right.
39:19Let's do it.
39:20We've got a lot ahead of us.
39:22Bathroom.
39:22Interior.
39:23Bedrooms.
39:24Canoe rack.
39:25Canoe rack.
39:26Solar.
39:27Bunk beds.
39:29Dang.
39:29It's been exciting planning for this trip.
39:31It's been exciting just getting ready.
39:33A lot got accomplished this first week, but we still have a lot more to do.
39:37You know, I realize in this first week we've done too much.
39:40Full heart, sweetie!
39:42We've traveled too far.
39:43Yes!
39:44Got it.
39:46We've had too much fun.
39:47We're all very proud of you and you work very hard.
39:50This just means two-pada.
39:53Night, Grandpa.
39:54Noo!
39:55Go to the legendary car, you."
39:55Canoe back to life very easy?
39:56Hello.
